Our recent stay at Discovery Samal Resort fell short of expectations, especially for the premium rates they charge. Check-in Process: The entire check-in experience was disorganized. We had already completed check-in at the Davao waiting area before boarding the catamaran, so having to go through another full check-in upon arrival at the resort felt unnecessary and inconvenient. The process needs better coordination. Dining at Haribar: We had lunch at Haribar, but the food was honestly not tasty at all considering the price. For a resort positioning itself as luxury, the quality and flavor really need improvement. Service & Staff: The staff were polite, but the overall service didn’t match the luxury label. Even though our luggage was pre-tagged prior to boarding, we still had to bring our own bags to the room. This is something the resort team should handle. Privacy Concerns: One major issue is the lack of privacy. Certain areas of the resort—particularly near rooms and shared spaces—feel too exposed, and you don’t get that secluded or exclusive atmosphere expected from a high-end property. Discovery Samal is as close to being on Fantasy Island. Not even the Ritz Carlton can't match the stunning views from the boat ride to the island. The white sand beach cabanas and infinity pool are world-class. My wife and I are already planning a summer trip for 2025. What more can I say? Truly a fabulous experience to remember.

It was my first trip out of the country, and our stay was great. I wished we could’ve stayed another day. Staff was very friendly and attentive at all times. I have never experienced such professionalism and politeness. The staff knows how to treat their guests. The pools, the food, the beach…all 5 stars! I love this place and we will be back.

The facility is really wonderful. From cleanliness to amenities, is awesome. My son enjoyed the water sports. But weren’t able to do jetskiiing because they were out of gasoline but not a big deal. I would give them more than ten point score especially the staff by the registration desk they went out of their way to help me fix my double booking issue. Thank you very much.

The property itself is gorgeous, no doubt about it. The main issue is there seems to be some confusion among the security guards that all guests are to be searched and are being suspected of stealing or breaking their rule of no outside food or drink allowed. They are insisting on looking inside private purses/bags and when unable to do so, they would radio their colleague and ask that they search the guests as they’re entering their hotel rooms. This is beyond offensive as the clientele clearly can easily afford such a property to vacation in. The guard went as far as quizzing a private driver that dropped the guests at the hotel where the guests went and what were purchased. If you want to leave the property to explore the surrounding island, you are asked to obtain a permission pass to leave the premises. Feels like jail time if you ask me. The spa services are not up to par with what a 5-star hotel resort should have offered. They did not obtain info from an intake form prior to services, made the clients wait despite not being busy and were completely disorganized and unprepared to the point of asking the guest to grab her own towel from the cabinet after showering post body scrub before the massage. No slippers were given and while the client was in the process of showering, a shower gel was handed inside the shower stall for use as they were missing any source of soap or gel for bathing and showering. The massage skills shld also be improved.

‘Best time of my life!’ This was the words of my 6yrs old daughter during our stay here in Discovery Samal. The place is well kept and the staff greet you with a genuine smile wherever you go. The place is great for young families like us. I hope the management will be the same the next time we visit! Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience a relaxing holiday!

The place is great however there are few concerns regarding the quality issue and hotel dissatisfaction. On the first night the whole room floor was sweating which is so slippery and dangerous as we have toddler running around, the switch lights are not working properly, All rooms have umbrella stand however it was all empty, and lastly a major complain about the pool for children area. I found alive centipede swimming along with the children, I don’t know how long it has been there but I’m glad I found it before incident happened. I am writing this review for other people awareness and safety and I hope that there is preventive and corrective actions for this matter.

It was a place that made me feel like I was in another country even though I am only within a few minutes boat ride away from the busy noisy city. My family had a great time and its a place with good food. Great place for meetings and awesome place to relax. Staff was superb, very courteous, and area was super clean. We had an amazing stay and the staff are wonderful. The facilities were topnotch. One room for improvement is the bar.Not many selection of wines and the drinks were a little to come even while we were already sitting at the bar. But otherwise, it was wonderful experience and we will come back soon.

The property itself is gorgeous, no doubt about it. The main issue is there seems to be some confusion among the security guards that all guests are to be searched and are being suspected of stealing or breaking their rule of no outside food or drink allowed. They are insisting on looking inside private purses/bags and when unable to do so, they would radio their colleague and ask that they search the guests as they’re entering their hotel rooms. This is beyond offensive as the clientele clearly can easily afford such a property to vacation in. The guard went as far as quizzing a private driver that dropped the guests at the hotel where the guests went and what were purchased. If you want to leave the property to explore the surrounding island, you are asked to obtain a permission pass to leave the premises. Feels like jail time if you ask me. The spa services are not up to par with what a 5-star hotel resort should have offered. They did not obtain info from an intake form prior to services, made the clients wait despite not being busy and were completely disorganized and unprepared to the point of asking the guest to grab her own towel from the cabinet after showering post body scrub before the massage. No slippers were given and while the client was in the process of showering, a shower gel was handed inside the shower stall for use as they were missing any source of soap or gel for bathing and showering. The massage skills shld also be improved.

It was a place that made me feel like I was in another country even though I am only within a few minutes boat ride away from the busy noisy city. My family had a great time and its a place with good food. Great place for meetings and awesome place to relax. Staff was superb, very courteous, and area was super clean. Looking forward to book another stay for next year's vacation.

Discovery Samal is as close to being on Fantasy Island. Not even the Ritz Carlton can't match the stunning views from the boat ride to the island. The white sand beach cabanas and infinity pool are world-class. My wife and I are already planning a summer trip for 2025. What more can I say? Truly a fabulous experience to remember.

It’s not cheap but you get what you paid for. Very hospital staff though you get looks if you are solo. Not a lot of people last Sept which i love. Free airport pick up and boat transfer. Outside food is not allowed unless you pay for corkage. Dining options are expensive and limited options. Overall, it was a nice experience.

Our recent stay at Discovery Samal Resort fell short of expectations, especially for the premium rates they charge. Check-in Process: The entire check-in experience was disorganized. We had already completed check-in at the Davao waiting area before boarding the catamaran, so having to go through another full check-in upon arrival at the resort felt unnecessary and inconvenient. The process needs better coordination. Dining at Haribar: We had lunch at Haribar, but the food was honestly not tasty at all considering the price. For a resort positioning itself as luxury, the quality and flavor really need improvement. Service & Staff: The staff were polite, but the overall service didn’t match the luxury label. The prices of the food did not match the Caldereta was nice. But 5800 peso for the surf and turf platter with dry chicken and horrible salmon is not worth the money. Im from Sweden so i know how salmon should be and i promise if you get that in Sweden no more customers will come back

Overall a great experience! We were only there for 2 nights but it was probably enough because food and drinks are pretty pricey there. Glad breakfast was included. Staff is very friendly. Just a few odd things to point out: no bananas, mangoes, or fruits native to the area (only watermelon, pineapple and canned peaches) and no longanisa or toscino at breakfast. We’d come back!

From the welcome center to the boat transfer to the food to the friendliness of the staff (especially Lucky) to the performances to the cleanliness of the property and to the comfortability of the room, the entire stay was absolutely amazing! The property is well maintained, and they are constantly cleaning and upgrading the grounds. I highly recommend it to couples and even to families as they have activities for all ages. The food in the restaurants is a bit higher priced than expected, but aside from that everything else was spectacular!
