Property was very safe and quiet, the only thing is no parking available around the area so you will need to pay 40 dollars plus tax per night to park in the hotel's parking lot which the parking lot is very small and very hard to enter and exit. It would be nice for the parking to be cheaper due to the size of the lot and should be one set price. Dog fees should be one set price for the entire stay instead of per night. other wise it was a good and quiet stay.

The hotel itself was well maintained but what pissed me off was the fact that they used a fake photo of their parking lot and their actual space was nothing like the photo. I knew parking in Brooklyn was going to be an issue because I have a large pickup truck and parking spaces are limited which is why I selected a hotel on expedia with larger parking spots. Turned out they are using AI generated pictures and parking there was a nightmare. Never again

One small issue...there seemed to be a loose bolt on the bed frame. We have been visiting our son in Brooklyn for 10 years and struggled to find a balance between comfort and affordable. Tru really fit the bill for us. The room is tight like all NYC hotels but was really well thought out. Very comfy and quiet. The workout room with a peloton was great. There is also a very nice space in the lower level with comfy chairs and a pool table. Also the breakfast was nice too. Staff at desk was really sweet. Neighborhood is good and walkable to lots.

I wish there was better signage/communication about parking. Online it said space for 40, first come, first served. Both on the website and when we arrived there was no clear communication about where parking was. There was a VERY skinny alley way with no signage, which we had to double park on the street, and run in to inquire at the front desk before we turned down to use. Once parked that entrance was locked to get into the Building and we had to wait for the front desk attendant to let us in. Otherwise checkin was fairly easy, and we were given a bag with complimentary snacks which was a nice touch.

Decent Stay, but Misleading Parking Costs I stayed at Tru by Hilton Brooklyn from November 14 to 15. The hotel itself was clean, simple, and comfortable. The staff were polite and the room served its purpose for a short stay. I would have gladly given a higher rating, but the parking situation pulled the experience down. Their so-called self-parking is misleading. Nowhere was it made clear that parking comes with a forty-dollar-per-night charge. If I had known about this extra cost, I would have chosen a different hotel without hesitation. A surprise fee like that leaves a bitter taste, especially when every dollar matters in New York. The hotel has potential, and the stay was not terrible, but honesty about costs goes a long way. For that reason, I can only give three stars.

Super efficient layout for a small contemporary room design. Excellent front desk staff. Delightful breakfast area with large screen tv. Cubicles for independent work areas with tables, powered bar work area as well as multiple comfy couch & loveseats. Also a pool table & fun playful artwork across one wall. Hip uplifting sayings on the door when you enter try. Hot breakfast every day - eggs, potatoes sausage or bacon & pancakes Standard continental oatmeal, yogurt, cereals, etc Conveniently located -easy access to Park Slope Prospect Park & Barclays Center. Easy access to N&R lines. Just a few stops to Barclays Center / Atlantic for many subways to Manhattan! Go for it!

Parking was scary..a little tiny drive way can barely fit one car, then you're coming out on a blind spot. The plce was clean and cozy

Really nice small hotel, with excellent and comfortable room. The lower level lounge, billiard and breakfast room was an unexpected plus!

Checked in to a room and the bathroom was filthy.

Shower leaked all over floor door didn't shut. No fitted sheet no top sheet . Over priced would never go back!

The hotel was very clean, smelled good and the anesthetic was beautiful. Parking was directly infron the building and I felt safe.

Hotel was very clean. Staff helpful, especially the man running the breakfast buffet. Breakfast was a better than typical free breakfast buffets. The only con was the over spraying of floral air freshener in the lobby. Was so strong you could taste it. The room thankfully didn’t have any odor. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area. Price point was perfect.

Clerk refused to give me a receipt for my credit card payment. Shower needs cleaning. Full of mold, and door let water out. Same breakfast every day. Mediocre.

The room had dirt on the floor and long hair on the desk. Soap dispenser design receives one star as it feels unsanitary. You have to firmly squeeze the bottle and bodily fluids like feces or urine on the dispensers may be present. In addition, if you have carpal tunnel syndrome or arthritis, the dispenser design is not difficult to use. The front desk associate was friendly.

Clean room…great location…close to subway, restaurants, bars

Clean, very comfortable, great continental breakfast and close to subway stop. Would definitely stay here again.

The bedclothes smelled of sweat and dirt, the bathrooms were uncleaned, you could see hair in the room and the bathrooms were obviously not cleaned.

I enjoyed my stay. The staff were friendly and professional. Everything is updated and clean. I loved the fact that it didn't have carpet in the room, Nice big windows , you can enjoy the sunlight or darken the room.

This location was very quiet and clean. It is literally one stop from the Barclays and walking distance to the metro. My bed frame was break and was making noises every time I moved but besides that I will be staying here again on another visit to New York.

I stayed for four nights, the room itself is cramped. The internet to the tv didnt work for all nights.

Hotel overall was great . Front desk was attentive and the area was clean . Although , the water from the bathroom barely had any hot water.

I arrived at 5:00 pm to get keys and access to my room. It was not ready and no other rooms were ready because they were still being cleaned. King size room is very small. Recommend reserving 2 beds because rooms are larger. Great location.

Very noise outside our room with people talking and room doors closing all night long. Would be nice to have room better sound proofed.

Overall this hotel is OK. Staff is helpful, nice furniture, an OK breakfast (home fries were always half raw). Nice bathrooms and beds. Cons: 1. Constant noise during the night. Even after we changed floors, there was this knocking noise all night long that would only stop in am. Hard to sleep. Had to use ear plugs. 2. Terrible sound proofing. You can hear all conversations in the hallway, door slamming and elevator beeps.

The staff were terrific! Very welcoming and helpful. The Wi-Fi didn’t work (we were on the garden level) and the doors to other rooms on the floor slammed closed making it hard to sleep. Parking was easy and very convenient.

Rooms are small but convenient

We had a room that was in the basement. The window was high up and the view was of the bottom of a car. All I cared about was a comfortable nights sleep and a hot shower before my cruise the next day. There were people talking in the alley behind the hotel so it was noisy to fall asleep, when I finally did, the bed made noises every time I moved. I woke up in the morning to the sound of a dog barking. So much for a good night sleep. As far as the shower goes, when I turned on the water it was freezing cold. I gave it a few minutes, still cold. I called the front desk and someone came down. They said they might need to restart the boiler. Didn't work. Then, some maintenance man came down and played with the shower. He abruptly walked out and said, "works now". So, I got ready to get back in the shower and the water was still freezing cold. I let them know it still was cold. By this time it was getting late and we didn't want to miss out cruise check in time. The guy at the desk said he could not credit us for the stay since it was booked on Hotels.com, but he would note the account. I told Hotels.com and they have not yet done anything about it.

The customer service was the worst! The young lady when we arrived had no manners. When asked if there was a possibility to check in early she said No, wait til 3pm. That’s your time. And then she yelled at another guest when they were going the wrong way to go to the bathroom. Didn’t tell me the room number. Gave me keys and then looked at me as if I was bothering her since I was hoping she was going to share information with me about the hotel. She didn’t explain we had to use the keycard to use the elevator. The bathroom was dirty upon arrival. There was blood on the floor. There was hair all over the place. Location is great by the train but come prepared to clean the bathroom upon your arrival.

My check in was awful. Two people behind the desk and I had to ask is this where I check in? She was more concerned with her phone. If I didn't need to be in this area I would have just left and gone elsewhere. Unfortunately, hotels near Prospect Park are few. And she was rude..I was early so I wanted to make sure I could access my room and asked. The response was "well I gave you your key so.." I can't believe I paid so much for this..

Asked staff member for something very simple that they said they’d deliver, a hairdryer and they left their shift and never brought it to us.

We were greeted at the front desk by the very friendly and helpful Amanda! She checked our bags since we were a little early. She knew my name and spoke to me every morning. The hotel is right around the corner from the subway and there are so many fun shops and places to eat on 5th Ave- which is just a block and a half away. There is a market on the corner of President St. and 4th Ave with lots of options - this is about a 2-minute walk. The hotel has a large, clean, and inviting space for the continental (complimentary) breakfast and 24-hour coffee/tea service. There is a microwave on the main level to heat up left-overs. We enjoyed the room fridge as well. This hotel is very clean, spacious, and in a wonderful area. In addition to the subway, we ordered an Uber and it was one-minute away. Lots of places are walkable as well and I rented a Citi-Bike on the corner and rode it over to Prospect Park. We had such a wonderful visit and are so happy we chose this hotel - will definitely stay here again!

Our room was not cleaned after our 1st night. We complained in the front desk, no use. Room was not cleaned for the 2nd night. On the 3rd and last day we had to make a scandal to get a clean room. Lousy service.

I was greeted at the front desk by Amanda. Amanda was very professional. Her customer service skills should be bottled and marketed. She made me feel comfortable she made me feel as though I was important and throughout her tour of duty leading into the next day and the next day when she saw me she checked on me to make sure I was okay and everything was as to expectation. Perhaps that's why they have her working the front desk however I think she should be moved up to the ladder to the next position because customer service like this is what customers like I look forward to when spending my hard or money. The hotel was a little hard to find because there's no very large sign on the door. The block has parking but sparingly however there are parking garages within short walking distances. Eateries as well as shopping is close by. The block is very quiet at night at least in the winter I don't know about the summer spring or fall. I got up every morning had a bite to eat from the buffet and a cup of coffee. The coffee was hot it wasn't very tasty but that's because of the company the brand lavazza is not my favorite at all. My hotel room was clean without any unpleasant sense nothing to complain about. The majority of my time was just that my time I didn't interact very much with the staff but when I did it was a pleasure.

Room was clean. Breakfast was OK. The neighborhood had people loitering on the street corners which made us uneasy regarding safety.

I liked the set up, the convenient location to the Barclays Center. The downstairs area was different with the pool table.

This is a clean and convenient hotel right around the block from a subway stop which is key for our NYC visits. We really appreciated the friendly front desk, especially early check in on day one and bag storage on our last day. Area felt very safe and the Gowanas neighborhood was super cute with a couple of close restaurants and shops very close to the hotel.

The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the towels were replaced EVERY day, the front desk staff was attentive, and the breakfast was satisfying. Great location close to all Brooklyn has to offer. Will stay here on my next New York visit.

Comfortable stay, great location for subway into Manhattan.

Very close to Union St subway station. It serves the purpose for a quick NYC trip. Just needed a place to sleep, shower, store stuff.

The hotel is located in a dirty and untidy area of brooklyn. Other than that, it is a pretty decent place and the staff were very helpful.

Location was fine. There's a subway stop about three blocks away. Property was modern and clean. And we were thankful that they stored our bags securely for us for several hours after we checked out on our last day there. Rooms were tiny, though, and the free breakfast they served was a slap in the face. In the three mornings we were there for it, there was one morning when I was able to pick out maybe a couple of tablespoons of scrambled eggs. Otherwise the hot breakfast items were limited to potatoes, or pancakes from a machine, or bread items you could toast in a toaster that was provided.

The property was new and fresh. Good location and neighborhood was nice. The bed frame was very squeaky when turning over at night. That was not what we expected for a new property. We picked this reservation because of the free breakfast. Saturday morning the kitchen staff never showed up. So we and some guest walked to Starbucks. Not good!!

Our stay at Tru Hotel Brooklyn was a 6 out of 10. The complementary breakfast was lack luster and very unappealing. The frozen orange juice was frozen in the dispenser. The food choices were limited. The area where the breakfast was provided had knats and smelled of mildew. The TV was difficult to operate or not at all. The hotel desk personnel could not operate the TV. We moved to another room in hopes that the TV would work. It did not. We were told that we could change rooms however we had to strip our bed and bring our sheets from our previous room with us because there was no maid service available and the new room we were moving to did not have sheets on the bed. We have stayed in Tru Hotels before. This was not the high standard we expect from Tru Hotels. The location was excellent and close to subway platforms. Tru must do better!

Tru by Hilton worked well for our stay. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The area was convenient for our stay. The only downside was the breakfast! Except for the great coffee the food was subpar. We’ve been to other places offering breakfast and they literally are mostly identical in offerings except for Tru. We saw empty containers day after day, measly apples and no other fruit-not even bananas! No hard boiled eggs and oatmeal was watered down! All that aside, we would return and hopefully see a bump up on the breakfast.

Clean rooms & building, friendly staff, breakfast had many choices (including mini pancake maker, eggs, potatoes, sausage, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt) and was good.

Very reasonably priced. Room was comfortable and quiet. There was a large common room where those a pool table ample seating, tvs, computer, breakfast. Lots of choices for breakfast—usual breakfast bare fare.
