ibis Budget - Fawkner

Hotel is in a very convenient area for access to everything. Room was supplied with the essentials required. Pillows need to be changed , got very sore neck from the low pillows and had to pay extra money for parking on arrival we were unaware of. Otherwise 4 star stay.

You get what you pay for here. It’s right at the corner of a freeway junction where apart from fast food chains, a supermarket and bingo hall there’s not much going on. My room was quite dirty in places, the washing machine didn’t work (I discovered this after paying so had to go back to reception to get my money back), and the corridor smelt of smoke. Fawkner is a bit dumpy.

The room was rather small with the ensuite tucked away in a small corner. Suitable for short overnight trip. Gem in that place was the ample parking space.

I have stayed at this property a few times now. I do like staying here. I like that it is out of town. The train station is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel and takes around 30-35 minutes to get into the city. The rooms are pretty standard (quite small) there is a tv, fridge, coffee and coffee making facilities, double bed, airconditioning, ensuite in the rooms that I have stayed in. There is an onsite car park, with ample space. Across the road (busy intersection/ main road/ freeway) you have Mc Donald's , Coles, Kmart etc..

The staff were absolutely lovely and the property, while a decent walk from Gowrie train station, was easy access into Melbourne and ideal for our event at the Marvel Stadium. Trains are frequent and cheap - you do need to buy a myki card tho (we got ours at the airport). Accommodation is more like student halls or a backpackers/hostel (albeit with own rooms and bathroom facilities). Incredibly basic but acceptable for the cost and our one night stay. We were on the ground floor but had little to no noise (the main noise was the aircon - nothing Loop earplugs can’t cancel out!) and the rooms were secure - with grilles on the downstairs windows and a blackout shade (slightly ripped). We did worry about walking around at midnight after our event, but we needn’t have - it’s on a busy road and well lit. The area is a bit run down but well serviced with food places and supermarkets in walking distance. The hotel has a kitchen and laundry, if you have the need. Overall we were really happy despite it being an incredibly basic accommodation.

There is mold on the walls in the room. No towel bars to dry your wet towels. The shower and toilet area is smaller than a cruise ship. No elevator Overall the building does not exude safety.

Shower was a problem having a large climb into it also water went everywhere through the toilet and floor no shower door or curtain. An extra $5 per day for parking car did not see any reference to this on the promotion.

Parking area was small, room was not serviced and they did not even ask if we wanted it serviced, there was no soap in dispenser in shower or at the vanity. Customer service was lax.

Room was dusty and dirty, bathroom was mouldy and generally dirty. Bathroom sink was in bedroom on other side of the room. Bed sheets seemingly clean but stained. Floor was hairy, chunks of debris. Didn’t look like it had been swept. Under the bed was revolting. Door didn’t have security bolt/chain, just a lock. Nothing was broken. Vent cover in bathroom missing. Only two pillows on queen bed. One flat and one weirdly stuffed. Everything else was fine.

Broken pieces of glass in the room which we didn’t see, my son took his shoes off and went to jump into bed and stood on a piece, cut his foot open 1cm. Went down to tell the staff and he asked what room, typed it into the computer gave a stern look at the computer, I said clearly wasn’t swept/vacuumed he continued to stare for an awkward minute, no apology. Disgusting. Sheets were filthy. Under the bunk was graffitied which could easily be cleaned. Quick stay for a nap before the airport is perfect but nothing more than that

Completely unacceptable. Bathroom pod was full of mould; both doors seals, around toilet, on lights even just door panels. Smell was uncomfortable through the entire fascility. Fridge was covered in mould. Walls dirty. Television remote didn’t work. Hallways unclean. Was exhausted but still spent as little time in the room as possible, brought in my on bedding and cancelled second nights stay.

Definitely not staying here again. Place was filthy and wasn't cleaned. Lucky we had our own pillows in the car, their ones were filthy and were so thin you could barely call them a pillow. Toilet barely worked. The fridge stank and was dirty. Highly recommend paying extra for somewhere else.

Good and clean

My room was clean, bed was comfortable, breakfast okay. bathroom very small. On the whole it was nothing flash but it was adequate for my needs.

The room was not clean was not advised parking incurred a fee, extremely basic accommodation.

For the price I can't really complain, however no power outlet next to the bed is annoying. No toilet brush. Airconditioner front panel filthy dirty, shower extraction fan dirty. No blanket in room. Noisy traffic particularly a lot of Police sirens throughout the night. The Brunswick Tower Hotel for the same price was much better. The only reason I chose the Ibis was because of local prices, and much nearer to Epping.

It was ok, for an ok price. The bathrooms are much like aeroplane bathrooms with a shower. No real windows. Ok for one night before a flight

Didnt like the the tight fit on one side of bed. Hardly had room to get into bed. And toilet in shower room was much too small. Step up into shower and toilet was too high and possibly dangerous if slippery.

Room was clean. Very small for three adults. Third bed not made, no offer to make it for us when I asked for linen. Difficulty contacting reception when stated to be open. Welcome at check in very ordinary. Toilet door hits bed when opening. Squishy toilet and shower with sink to wash hands on other side of room. Hallways daggy, carpet frayed. Had to shuffle around each other to move around room. More like a hostel than what I would expect from an Ibis.

We just needed a bed for the night after a very long day and we had stayed at an Ibis before so new how basic the accommodation would be. The room was clean, not a fan of the shower/toilet layout but the shower was hot. The motel is located with train line at one end and main road at the other - overall noisy and didn't sleep well.

Clean & good location to airport. Busy highway on 2 sides … heard traffic all normal that as window wouldn’t close.

Never stepped foot inside due to nil contact available about late check in. Had to book elsewhere at my cost. Expedia no help and cant even reply. DO NOT USE if you want an out of hours check in. Tho crappy service probably means crappy hotel

Great staff and easy check in

Facility not good , I tried to call the hotel to make sure about my booking but no one's picked the phone up , as I tried call the more then 20 times. and when I was there the receptionist just pretend nothing happened

The manager was brilliant. He was very accommodating with my late check-in.

Late check in at 9pm was done easily and smoothly. Very happy with the staff member who helped me with the late check in.

After calling and confirming my late check-in, we arrived at the hotel at 1am only to be informed my room had been given away (cancelled) - without any notification. I had nowhere to stay and will never never be using Wotif or Ibis again!

The only positive about this place is location - 10mins from the airport. Everything else was a massive let down. It was unsanitary and unsafe to say the least. we waited over 20 minutes for staff to attend to the front desk, despite phoning a few times with no answer. This was at approx. 5pm on a Monday afternoon, well within opening hours for check-in. While waiting, we noticed smoke coming out from the lights above the front desk. Once we had our key and arrived at the room, we found the key did not work after talking to management and finally getting a working key, we found the room smelt like people had been chain smoking in there, springs coming out the bed, pillows had literally no stuffing in them, window hardly opened and the window cover was filthy (literally black), the walls were yellow, and the bathroom was worse than a prison cell. We won't be back or recommending this place to anyone.

Bfast is offered at relatively reasonable price, same staple every morning but still cheaper than eating at fast food. 3 star rating given for services as we had an almost horrible experience upon our arrival. Our flight was arriving late (after midnight originally) so we adviced hotels.com who in turn, adviced Ibis as well. Then, flight got delayed so I also left an "urgent" message that we will be arriving even later. They have an early check-in cutoff but has instructions on how to self check-in. We arrived almost 3am and to our horror, the kiosk where you are supposed to get your key is out of order. There is a number to call but we can't as we dont have a local phone connection. We are almost on the verge of the thought we might have to spend the night outside. We just got so lucky that one of the guests (an angel named Richard) came in late and helped us get in contact with the night manager, plus gave us a few dollars for a cup of coffee. The NM did came out although looking a bit upset to be roused out of a good night sleep, I guess. So, we did got checked-in and had a warm room for the night...God bless you, Richard!

Just awful experience, tried to get in touch as we were arriving after 12 midnight. No reply, Expedia aldo tried and no joy. Ended up booking somewhere else at further cost .. have tried but unable to get refund. Dont stay here

Very good value for money. Close to the shopping mall and fast food outlets.

For cheap budget accomodation, Ibis Fawkner is perfectly fine. Stayed there a few times. Convenient train access to the city. Rooms are clean, although you may notice a loose tap or other minor maintenance issue. The 24 hour KMart nearby is great to have. The only negative is highway facing rooms can be a little noisy at night from hoons doing burnouts on Sunday mornings, but that's hardly Ibis' fault.

Was conveniently close for where I needed to be and very cheap, but very noisy being beside a busy freeway & intersection

Rechercher dans les avis Impossible de dormir, fenêtres qui ne ferment pas bien, ancienne clim qui laisse passer le bruit les portes ne ferment pas bien non plus, pas de prise USB, petit déjeuner a 7:30 un peu tard quand on a les vols de bonne heure. Ibis budget de l'aéroport est totalement insonorisé malgré les avions a 400m, breakfast a 7:00 . Je deconseille fortement le fawkner. Réveillé plusieurs fois dans la nuit. Seul le prix est un peu intéressant. Hôtel vieillot. Nécessiterait une remise au propre. J'y suis venu il y a 5 ans,cela est encore plus dégradé.

È collegato bene alla stazione di Gowrie che permette di essere in centro a Melbourne in 20 min. L'hotel offre quello che ci si aspetta da un Ibis Budget: camere spartane ma funzionali e dotate di tutto ciò che é necessario, personale cortese e disponibile, buona colazione. Il costo è decisamente basso, tra i più bassi di Melbourne a parità di servizi, per cui è un'ottima soluzione per chi vuole spendere poco anchrle da turista.

You get what you pay for and this motel is great just for a quick stop over between flights. It is comfortable with a tiny bathroom. The bed was comfortable and towels were fluffy. The not so nice: The air-conditioner was covered in dust. I found a used toothpaste tube in the shower so i did wonder if it had been cleaned properly. We couldn't open the window as it was near a highway and too noisy. While tgere is only breakfast offered for meals we found a great club just up the road (about 2 minutes walk) and had a great meal for dinner.

The food was expired, dated in July, we are in August. They took food away before breakfast end. I kept to request to morning shift & evening shift employee to clear room every day.
