Beautiful renovated unit, very comfortable bed, great modern kitchen, very clean and cozy. Great place to stay in Boston if you travel with family and need a kitchen, and more space than a hotel room. Just be aware there is no elevator, unless you don’t mind using stairs. There is an available parking in the back of the building for an extra fee ( it was very convenient for us that we didn’t have to worry to look for a street parking especially at night). I would definitely recommend and stay there again visiting Boston. I hope that area behind the building will be taken care of and cleaned up as it was very unpleasant to use a back door where we parked our car. Unfortunately a lot of places in Boston are very dirty, pot holes, trash and unpleasant odors in majority of the city. Overall excellent studio in the great location!

Stayed in the one bedroom suite with family of 5, it was a perfect stay. Suite was beautifully decorated and bed was as comfortable as my bed at home. Kitchen had everything we needed for dinner in. Close to T and Fenway, area felt very safe and walkable with kids. Utilized parking out back which was convenient. Would definitely stay again when visiting Boston.

Great space, great location. Just as advertised. Oct 2024 EVERYTHING looked new…floors, appliances, paint, furniture. Everything. Everything worked well ( though the fireplace would only stay lit for 5 minutes. Exactly FIVE). Communication was awesome. Prompt and helpful. Only criticism: did not know that there was NO ELEVATOR until the day of check in. At 61 with bad knees and four bags, getting settled in was a major hassle. Four narrow flights of winding stairs. Other than that…outstanding!!!

Excellent location near Boston University, bars, restaurants, etc and just a few minute walk to Fenway. We had the downstairs suite which was extremely roomy and had a full kitchen. While there was no front desk, the reservation team was responsive, polite and helpful.

The building and our apartment are really beautiful. A lot of care wanted into the design and the selection of furniture and decor. We opted to pay for parking which made everything even more convenient. We are from the country so not used to city noise which were a little intense at times, but manageable. The only suggestion (strong suggestion) I would make to management would be to have clear instructions about the heat and ac. Specifically, how to light the fireplace within the apartment. There was no way for us to know that the fireplace was the only source of heat, and there were no instructions on how to light it. The first night we spent in the apartment was very cold. 60 degrees. We called management in the morning and it took a lot of back and forth for them to get us the information needed to successfully light the fireplace, and clarity that the thermostat was for ac only. All of this could have been avoided if there was clear instructions with in the apartment. Seems like a simple fix for the comfort of future guests. Other than that, the apartment was very enjoyable.

Good location with a short walk to lots of shopping , food and architecture. Modern clean room with functional kitchen . Bathroom has radiant heat flooring. If I had to pick at any minor issues it would be the noise as a result of facing the highways (I liked it but others in my family didnt) and some minor trash around the parking lot area. Overall very satisfied for the price.

The check in process was smooth, the property was in a great location, and the room was well furnished and comfortable, it's kind of apartment style so has a kitchenette and dishes. Bed was excellent, and my colleague said the sofa bed was comfortable. The only major downside was that it was cold. I think it was our room specifically, we had 3 bay windows that weren't super well insulated, so they shed heat like crazy. The heater unit couldn't really keep up with the freezing temperatures outside in the winter. There was a fireplace kind of thing, but it didn't really work, we couldn't get it to stay on longer than a minute or two. It wasn't too too cold, but a little colder than I would have preferred.

Beautiful property and beautiful and clean room. The king size bed was comfortable as was the queen pull out sofa bed! Communication was via text and email. The only thing I would desire would be to have blackout curtains. Otherwise perfect!

Having gone to college and lived in the area years ago, I was excited to find this property to be our homebase asI took my children on collgege tours. It is a beautiful brownstone just a few minutes walk from the Kenmore T station, but it was incredibly quiet!. Knowing there are dorms and fraternity houses close by, I wondered if it would be chaotic and loud, but it was peaceful and serene. The unit itself was beautiful and had everything we needed for 3 of us to stay comfortably. Everything was immaculate. The only downside (which I knew going in) was staying on the 3rd floor with no elevator. However, our beautiful view more than made up for having to lug suitases up and down.

The property was very clean and had new appliances in every room. Felt well renovated. One thing I noticed was that the A/C didn’t work and it was getting up to 76 while it was 40 outside which was kind of weird (and a little too warm)

Nicely updated. But refrigerator didn’t work and no one came to look at it, we didn’t get enough towels and couldn’t get more despite several requests. During our stay another car in our building had there window smashed out. Parking lot had piles of trash everywhere. Definitely wouldn’t come back!

My daughter and I stayed here for a couple days while she was checking out BU. It’s a great location near the university. Beautiful old building and recently renovated. We contacted the hotel a couple times and they were quick to respond and very friendly. I hope to stay here again in the future.

Our stay at Charlesgate Suites was lovely. The whole building was extremely clean and our room had all the basic necessities. The little espresso machine and pods were a nice surprise. It's about a 4 min walk to the green line station entrance, maybe 10 min to Fenway and 15 min to Newbury St. The street itself is beautiful, very "Boston" with all the multistory brownstones. I do wish there was a closer convenience store where you could get bottled waters and things. This is no fault of the Charlesgate of course. if you are staying there I would try to plan ahead so you are not walking 10 minutes from the 7Eleven carrying a case of water. We would definitely stay here again.

Pros: old school “row house” vibe, right outside of Boston University; felt pretty safe, with lots of food/bars in the area, with transportation and shopping close by too. Cons: very small, noisy, especially on lower floors; limited space to put your things/lacked function in many areas. Needs some maintenance in certain areas.

The property is in very good condition. The room is spacious and comfortable. There is a laundry facility next to my room. The kids of the family above me made a lot of noise as I hear the running and stumping clearly from below.

The location was amazing, easily walkable to the esplanade and Fenway Park. It is a very nice apartment, well maintained and pleasant to stay in.

We had problems with registering online and uploading photo ID in advance, and when we arrived the automated door lock wasn't working, so we had to reach out via hotels.com to get the back door code. It was a hassle -- but thankfully they responded promptly (it was during day time, I wouldn't have wanted to deal with this at night) -- but once we got into the unit, it was excellent. Spacious, very comfortable beds and furniture, great shower, clean, convenient to BU and transit. We really enjoyed out visit and will stay again, with the caveat of knowing to expect a few hassles, given its great location and comfortable amenities.

That was the only issue I experienced because of my own need for more daily exercise. After I made it to the top floor and opened my door, I was welcomed into the most inviting space I have ever been in during a hotel stay. The layout is perfect. The bathroom is the first door on the right with a separate shower and tub. The kitchen is to the left with a complete set up - refrigerator, range, dishwasher, stocked cabinets, breakfast table and chairs. A small desk with a lamp is directly across from the entrance. And a sofa that pulls out to a bed sits before a television and coffee table. The bed was tucked away on the other side of a wall out of view from the front door, but you could be in bed and watch television with ease as the bed was directly behind the sofa. The use of SPACE and placement of furniture made this suite the most comfortable I’ve ever been in. Any needs I had were communicated through text messages, and a response was consistently received within minutes. I was within walking distance (15 minutes) of Boston University and did not have to call an Uber even once during my stay. I walked to a restaurant for dinner and to the store to pick up a few personal items. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will be checking for vacancies with Charlesgate Suites any time I am visiting Boston.

This beautiful brownstone converted to a set of unsupervised suites was terrifically convenient for our trip to Boston University. However, we experienced several serious problems with our stay that are worth warning others about. First, the property used four different methods of communication, sharing separate essential details via different platforms, which resulted in multiple miscommunications about parking, door codes, etc. Second, they used a third-party platform to collect a copy of a governor ID to confirm the reservation, and upon receipt, they immediately charged the full room cost to my card. This was a pay-at-the-property reservation. Although they reversed the charges on request, they still charged it again almost 48 hours before arrival. Third, they charged an additional $800 to the card two days after we arrived without notice, receipt, or explanation. I’m still waiting for a response. Finally, the door lock on the room would not lock without re-entering the key code. This was not mentioned in the instructions, and as a result, we unintentionally left the room unlocked each time we left the first day. It also meant we could not lock the room while we were inside, and there was no solution for that problem even after we realized it.

The front door did not allow us to check in. We were finally helped by another traveller who reported that the front door had not worked for several days. This kind woman showed us the back door which was difficult to discern. Everything else was good. Clean, excellent location, roomy...

My daughter and I stayed here for a couple days while she was checking out BU. It’s a great location near the university. Beautiful old building and recently renovated. We contacted the hotel a couple times and they were quick to respond and very friendly. I hope to stay here again in the future.

The hotel lies about the time they will get you check in information, lies about parking, and then has NO HUMANS to speak with at all! They send a text and it’s clearly from a foreign country and even when there is an actual emergency or issue they refuse to call or let you speak to an actual human. They also lie about there being stairs that are impossible to climb and the age of the property. Overall a total fraud!

If you are ok not sleeping!! Basement room, by the back screeching door. People came in and out at all hours of night and will not allow you to sleep. That room’s basement location wasn’t communicated. Also, door code didn’t work during check-in, room was set for 2 even though reservation was for three. Parking wasn’t available either, even though we requested in advance. Terrible experience!

We loved the location of the Charlesgate Suites. You're a couple of blocks away from the Kenmore station which is located on the green line for the T which allows you to get to basically an part of Boston. Our family enjoyed the charm of this brownstone home as it felt reflective of Boston's character itself, but the interior has been updated for comfort. If we're to visit Boston again we'd certainly consider staying at Charlesgate Suites again.

Good location with a short walk to lots of shopping , food and architecture. Modern clean room with functional kitchen . Bathroom has radiant heat flooring. If I had to pick at any minor issues it would be the noise as a result of facing the highways (I liked it but others in my family didnt) and some minor trash around the parking lot area. Overall very satisfied for the price.

Our stay at Charlesgate Suites was lovely. The whole building was extremely clean and our room had all the basic necessities. The little espresso machine and pods were a nice surprise. It's about a 4 min walk to the green line station entrance, maybe 10 min to Fenway and 15 min to Newbury St. The street itself is beautiful, very "Boston" with all the multistory brownstones. I do wish there was a closer convenience store where you could get bottled waters and things. This is no fault of the Charlesgate of course. if you are staying there I would try to plan ahead so you are not walking 10 minutes from the 7Eleven carrying a case of water. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful renovated unit, very comfortable bed, great modern kitchen, very clean and cozy. Great place to stay in Boston if you travel with family and need a kitchen, and more space than a hotel room. Just be aware there is no elevator, unless you don’t mind using stairs. There is an available parking in the back of the building for an extra fee ( it was very convenient for us that we didn’t have to worry to look for a street parking especially at night). I would definitely recommend and stay there again visiting Boston. I hope that area behind the building will be taken care of and cleaned up as it was very unpleasant to use a back door where we parked our car. Unfortunately a lot of places in Boston are very dirty, pot holes, trash and unpleasant odors in majority of the city. Overall excellent studio in the great location!

Close to T and Fenway, area felt very safe and walkable with kids. Utilized parking out back which was convenient. Would definitely stay again when visiting Boston.

Neither the description of the property is accurate nor the services provided. This place only offers you a comfortable bed to spend the night, other than that is does not offer any breakfast, so it is not a bed & breakfast. Although the room was clean when we arrived, they never changed our towels ( which we requested) and did not take out the trash. Self Check-in instructions were wrong so we couldn’t access the property and I had to call the hostess several times until she finally picked up. It is also located next to BU, which makes it kind of noisy as it surrounded by the students dorms and frat houses. I specifically requested a ground floor room due to a recent surgery I had, and they sent us to the basement. We were absolutely disappointed. And the worst part is that they charge very high fees and they don’t offer anything worth the price. I would never, ever stay in this place again!

The location was amazing, easily walkable to the esplanade and Fenway Park. It is a very nice apartment, well maintained and pleasant to stay in.

We had problems with registering online and uploading photo ID in advance, and when we arrived the automated door lock wasn't working, so we had to reach out via hotels.com to get the back door code. It was a hassle -- but thankfully they responded promptly (it was during day time, I wouldn't have wanted to deal with this at night) -- but once we got into the unit, it was excellent. Spacious, very comfortable beds and furniture, great shower, clean, convenient to BU and transit. The kitchen was minimally stocked and could have included a few things for cooking (salt/paper, maybe oil/viengar) in addition to the coffee/sugar supplies provided. We really enjoyed out visit and will stay again, with the caveat of knowing to expect a few hassles, given its great location and comfortable amenities.

I traveled to Boston for my youngest sons’s college graduation. I was aware that I was staying on the fourth floor without access to an elevator prior to my visit. That was the only issue I experienced because of my own need for more daily exercise. After I made it to the top floor and opened my door, I was welcomed into the most inviting space I have ever been in during a hotel stay. The layout is perfect. The bathroom is the first door on the right with a separate shower and tub. The kitchen is to the left with a complete set up - refrigerator, range, dishwasher, stocked cabinets, breakfast table and chairs. A small desk with a lamp is directly across from the entrance. And a sofa that pulls out to a bed sits before a television and coffee table. The bed was tucked away on the other side of a wall out of view from the front door, but you could be in bed and watch television with ease as the bed was directly behind the sofa. The use of SPACE and placement of furniture made this suite the most comfortable I’ve ever been in. Any needs I had were communicated through text messages, and a response was consistently received within minutes. I was within walking distance (15 minutes) of Boston University and did not have to call an Uber even once during my stay. I walked to a restaurant for dinner and to the store to pick up a few personal items. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will be checking for vacancies with Charlesgate Suites any time I am visiting Boston.

First of, they have no fromt desk and i wasnt sure how that was going to work out. Ironically it was perfect. If I needed something i just texted them and they took care of it or answered me with a solution. Great communication. Day before I got there they sent me specific instructions to my rooms and building entry. Super easy to understand. Great neighborhood and a 15 minute walk from Fenway and great shopping in the opposite direction.

Let me start with the positives. Close location to Fenway if you are going to a game. Check-in was easy, and the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The place backs up right to an exit ramp, so it can be noisy at times; if you are bringing your family, it may not be the most ideal if your room is facing the back. Now the biggest issue is the parking. They have 3 assigned parking spaces, which you pay $35 a night. They send you a diagram of where you are supposed to park with a written description. However, upon our arrival, it was raining with fog. The "green lines" they say to look for are faded and on the wall behind weed growth. I couldn't see the green lines or my parking spot #, which happened to be #3. There were no markings on the pavement as there were with every other spot. I parked in another spot #3, because it was the only 3 I saw. My car was towed. I spoke to management and shared photos of the barely visible green lines and weed growth. My towing costs were $198. Only after multiple emails and phone calls did the property manager offer to reimburse me half of the cost to tow my car. I am utterly disappointed that they did not reimburse me the full amount given that this could have all been avoided if they simply shared an actual photo of the spaces themselves rather than a confusing diagram. Take a look at the photo and tell me if you would be able to see #3 and the green lines in foggy and rainy conditions. You can barely see it in clear conditions
