We loved our stay! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food in the dining room was so good. After dinner we enjoyed the music. There are hiking trails across the road for anyone who is interested.

We stayed at multiple hotels/motels and cabins during our trip to Nova Scotia and during our trip around Cabots Trail. The Bras D'Or Inn was by far our favourite stay. The room was spacious and clean, the property was beautiful with a gorgeous wharf behind where there were gorgeous views of the lake. The attached restaurant was also a nice treat. The food was terrific. We only stayed one night, but it was the best evening of the trip. Would stay again there 100%

We stayed for a 2- night on August 12-13. The inn is very well kept. Very clean and good size room, very comfortable bed. The inn is next to the St. Peters canal which is a big bonus. The inn restaurant took us by surprise as the dinner was just above our expectation. It's fine dining cuisine, and the high quality and beautiful presentation of the meals was perfect and one of the best and delicious dinners we had throughout our trip.

My mom and I stayed here for 1 night. The room was well sized, clean and comfortable. We were a bit surprised to find the dining room was not open for breakfast/brunch but there are lots of places close by to grab something to eat. We were also a bit surprised that no one was at the desk when we checked out at 10:30AM. Other than that we would definitely stay here again.

Everything is great about this property. It is very quaint and the decor is rustic. The rooms are really nicely decorated and so clean. Lots of extras. Restaurant was really good and the staff were all very friendly. Definitely recommend and would stay there again.

I wanted to love the Inn but there were too many things to be bothered by. The bedding, which didn't really fit the bed, wasn't as clean as I would have liked and the room in general felt kind of dirty/sticky/old/outdated. The upgrades were all cosmetic as in they changed the bed and added new carpet. The air conditioners were old and out dated and smelled very musty. The basement where my room was, was damp and not welcoming. In the bathroom where it looked like they had done some updating showed wear and tear that shouldn't be there if it were indeed updated - the sink hung low and at angle and the plaster on the wall was coming apart. It was just all around a little disappointing for the price. The grounds - the water area - was lovely to look at, but other than that, I don't think I would bother staying there again. Staff were very pleasant though, which was a bonus.

The Inn is on the highway, the room tidy, and there is a restaurant on site. The staff were friendly and the bed was very comfortable. Our room was downstairs and there were what appeared to be dehumidifiers in the hallway and our room. However, there was no noticeable moisture or odors. There was an electric fireplace, which was a nice bonus.

Reception was pleasant. Unfortunately if staying on a Monday the dining room is closed and only option are basically 2 restaurants a short walk into town. Too bad because the menu at the inn looked very good. Bright light shone directly at our window all night and the type of blind they use is not sufficient. Room was cramped. For the price and no dinner or breakfast offered I would go elsewhere. Perhaps better in season.

It’s a nice room, looks good, clean and with some more modern updates. We were only there a night so a lot of amenities didn’t matter. What did matter was in the room - and that wasn’t good. Wifi? Forget it. Couldn’t connect. So many dead spots - I had to do gymnastics to get a stable signal. Fireplace? Didn’t work. TV? Couldn’t control the volume with the remote. That’s it. And the halls smell musty.

There was a very nice view of the lake. The beds were not great for a couple sharing as you could feel every movement as if your partner was bouncing on the bed. Made for a couple nights of restless sleeps. We tried to get a table for dinner and were told they didn't have space. We came back at 7:00 to hear the music, and the place was only half full, although there was a medical convention in the next room. We were asked if we wanted anything from the kitchen as we only ordered drinks. I guess we might have been able to have dinner after all. The musician was great.

We booked a one-night stay at this lodge with an early start planned for a long drive the next day. We set our alarms and were up by 6:00 AM to get ready. The trouble started soon after we got out of the shower. While still getting ready, the electricity suddenly went out, plunging our room into darkness. I immediately tried to call the front office for help, but there was no one available—the office was unstaffed and there was no contact number to reach anyone in an emergency. After a few unsuccessful attempts, I gave up. Relying solely on my phone's flashlight, we quickly gathered our things in the dark. We ended up checking out around 6:45 AM with our hair still wet and completely messed up. This ruined our opportunity to take good pictures before starting our long journey. A whole day has past, and still no word of apology from the hotel which is why I am writing this review. I have never stayed at a lodge where absolutely no staff member was available in the event of an emergency. They need to have a way to contact in case of an emergency if no one is going to be at the front office.

St. Peter’s is a magical little town nestled between a large freshwater lake and the Atlantic Ocean. A perfect stop on your way around the Cabot Trail. This my second time staying at the Bras d’Or Inn and it’s been a good experience both times.

The motel was easy to get to - right off the highway. The only reason I gave the Staff & Service a 3 star rating is because we booked this motel since it had an onsite lounge and restaurant. Unfortunately the day we were there it was closed. The staff person on site was very welcoming and explained why they were closed on Mondays. We were able to find a restaurant down the street that was recommended to us.

Beautiful property. Be sure to make a reservation at the restaurant if you want to guarantee eating/seating (when they're busy they don't offer take-out/room service-we didn't and ended up not having dinner that night-nothing else in town for vegetarians). Otherwise, good service and friendly staff.
