The Lincoln Hotel

There should not be an additional charge of £7 each night for car parking. The hotel has a car park for guests which should be free like many others. It should just be first come first served. Apart from that, the hotel was average for the price. The location was fantastic. You pay extra for a good view though lol.

Management need to decide if they are running a nightclub or a hotel. There was wedding event during our stay, with a disco running into the small hours. The walls and windows of our bedrooms were shaking, earplugs made no difference. This is a hotel to avoid unless they decide which customer base they are trying to attract.

We have returned to this Hotel many times and love the location and great food. The rooms are always warm and clean. The staff always friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the Hotel had a wedding disco this last visit and was directly below our room so not much sleep. This wouldn't put us off returning.

Doesn’t look as smart as the pictures. Needs a revamp as looks very tired. On the plus, the room was warm. No working lift which was a mare when climbing to the top floor.

The breakfast room was delightful: light and airy, sunny and with a view of the cathedral. Food was excellent. Room was serviced well every day. Lift was rather scruffy and noisy. Reception staff very helpful and kind, but it was a shame that, when saying 'goodbye', one member of the team didn't look up. Also, suggest having an illuminated sign above the main entrance.

Great location for Lincoln city centre. Hotel staff are welcoming and friendly. Car park was good and safe. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Nice restaurant area although it is best to book for busy times. The decor is a little out dated but they are currently undergoing refurbishment so will look good when finished. All in all a very pleasant hotel. We would definitely stay again.

We were double booked in error Lift was not working one day and I use a mobility walker Grouting in bathroom shabby and waste bin was not emptied Staff were very helpful

Nice quirky hotel in need of a bit of TLC. Great location, if you don’t mind the cathedral bells, for the top end of Lincoln and the Bailgate. We got stuck in a rickety old lift which was going nowhere until the receptionist gave the buttons a good old bashing! I’m just going to say one thing about our small room and bathroom “shower curtain” 🤔

There was no notice that the lift was being replaced.

This independent hotel is brilliantly situated, with excellent rooms- both common and bedrooms. Staff invariably friendly. The place is spotlessly clean, and breakfasts are first class- indeed can easily be cooked to order.Car park capacious, particularly for the centre of the city. That said, we did find our bed unusually hard, as were the pillows. If some softer beds ARE available, it would be good to be able to opt for one! One other quibble:no electric shaver points in bathrooms, not even in the gents loo. And with the sole lift out of order, no offers to help carry cases upstairs...

Dirty room, bathroom, furnishings and windows. Furnishings very tired, marks all over furniture. Gave the staff two oppurtunities to ask how our room was. No one asked. Hotel is situated in a nice area.

Needs a lot of updating and refurbishment. We requested a room change as the one they gave us was awful. Bathroom mouldy, rusty, ill fitted and obviously had been flooded as stained floor and carpet into the room. Small bed was collapsing!! Very hot and musty. 2nd room was better - but still poor for what we paid.

The stay was comfortable but the decoration and state of the room and corridors was very tired, and one corridor had a horrible smell throughout our stay.

The Hotel is in a beautiful location opposite lincoln cathedral and a walk from all the attractions. The breakfast and evening meal was very good. Parking is also a bonus . Unfortunately the Hotel is in great need of a refurbishment ,the furnishings are very old worn and dirty the hall ways and curtains are in much need of a clean very dusty and smelly . The room its self was also old and worn stains on the chairs were not a pleasent sight .I was very disappointed . The staff were polite and helpful.

Check in process & friendliness of staff at check in was great. Didn't feel comfortable using the lift - was waiting for Frankenstein to make an appearance! Room desperate for an upgrade and a good clean, cobwebs, built up grim in corners of table/worktops, whole room felt grubby. Bathroom was the same in need of a refurb. Stayed for our daughters graduation & it put a bit of a dampner on the day, daughter had one of the larger rooms and it was the same, only bonus was she had a good view of the cathedral. Neither rooms were cheap, I'd say extremely over priced for what we got. On a plus the breakfast was good.

Hotel is in a convenient central position in Lincoln, and benefits from excellent parking at £7.50/day (I think per day, but could be per stay). Buffet breakfast was the highlight, well cooked, plenty of choice and with additional options of items like eggs Benedict cooked to order if wanted. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Downside for us was the heat of the bedroom - unfortunately we were there on a very hot weekend - the room was sweltering with no fan or aircon, leading to a very poor night’s sleep. Corridors to the rooms really need a refurb and had a strange smell. Otherwise a good stay - beds were comfortable with good quality linen (though pillows hard, as they so often are in hotels) and bathroom was clean.

Good value, although extremy slow internet and no a/c. Bed was comfortable, breakfast was filling, and the location couldn’t have been better.

We have stayed a few times at this hotel over a 30-year period. We found the price of evening meals and wine prices too expensive so we ate out, however, the breakfast was really good. Take your own shower gel as only 1 tiny bottle in bathroom. Bed and pillows very comfortable.

The hotel is dated and needs updating. The rom was overly hot and there is no aircon. The lift does not access all bedrooms, only the delux ones. Staff were helpful and friendly but it didn’t make up for the overall experience I’m afraid.

The stay in general was goid but we were kept awake with alot of noise outside, some kind of machinary was turning on and off and then very early deliveries

I had a standard double room, staff were lovely and the location is perfect for exploring Lincoln. The room was clean but tired, marks all over every piece of furniture and scrapes across the wall where the bedside table and bed met the wall. TV was on a side table so you had to look down to view it and just one too many pieces of furniture for the size of room. No power sockets near the bed and the curtains arent blackout which isnt ideal in the summer months. For the money i expected slightly better.

It's a great hotel, though is starting to show it's age. Which is a shame, it's the best location in Lincoln and the hotel is cool and quircky in a 60's way. Unfortunately it's lacking in some mod cons, no aircon im the room we stayed in. But otherwise all is good. Great staff, sometimes it was difficult finding someone on duty.

Great position opposite the Cathedral, the Hotel room was looking dated although comfortable. The breakfast was a buffet style and offered a good selection.

Initially booked for 3 nights but we had to cancel our last night because of work commitments. The hotel staff were very understanding and had no problem getting a refund. We had a deluxe Cathedral facing room which was nice. The room itself was a little scruffy and quite warm. There was a air conditioning unit but it wasnt working particularly well as it looked quite old. There was a blackout curtain missing from the window which meant the early morning light could be troublesome for some guests. The wifi worked well though and the breakfast area and food was good. We would stay here again as it is in a great location with free car parking. Hopefully, there will be some updating and repairs soon.

Great location & breakfast, try for a superior room that overlooks the cathedral and not the rear of the hotel, coz damn

Unfortunately, the whole reception area and stairwell had a very unappealing smell, noticeable immediately on arrival. However, staff were kind and courteous. Parking was charged additionally which I hadn’t been previously informed of and car had to be moved before 11am. Room was quite basic, needs updating, especially bathroom. Mattress comfortable and towels were pretty soft. Dangerously low balcony banister without additional safety rails. Breakfast good with lovely view of the cathedral, good variety of breakfast choices but disappointing coffee. Mixed review, didn’t feel overly exited about the stay itself for the price sadly, but conveniently located for our needs.

My room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was only one coffee sachet though and not enough milk for even one drink. The shower only reached a luke warm temperature and there was no hairdryer. Breakfast was very good…apart from the coffee! It was a bit weak and not very hot. The reception staff were not very welcoming on arrival or chatty on departure. I was surprised to have to pay for overnight parking. There should be clearer signs in the car park where the reception is….I traipsed around all over the hotel up and down stairs with a suitcase like a lost soul trying to find it. Overall, I was happy with my stay mainly because of the location and the cleanliness of the room and the breakfast.

Probably the best location in Lincoln overlooking the Cathedral, with the added bonus of excellent parking. Some aspects of the hotel were new and modern - the deluxe bedrooms for example, but other areas were dated such as the lift and corridors. The exterior is due a good clean and/or repaint. The breakfast was buffet style with little personal interaction. For such a well positioned hotel it needs to improve its customer service.

Enjoyable stay from start to finish. Staff from reception to bar staff to breakfast staff very helpful and friendly! Room was very comfortable and the view was to die for!!!

Did not think the room I was allocated on arrival satisfactory. The member of staff I complained to dealt with my query extremely well and I was moved to a lovely room. The duty Manager also ensured that my stay would be enjoyable. Thank you to you both and the rest of the members of staff at The Lincoln.

Staff great - very clean in all areas.

A wonderful stay at the Lincoln hotel. We went to see Sting at Lincoln Castle the Lincoln Hotel was a perfect choice as within walking distance of the venue. Not to mention the hotel overlooks the Cathedral and gives stunning views of it. We decided at the last minute to eat in the hotel the food was top rate but i felt a bit sorry for the one lady running the whole thing however it was a tuesday night so maybe usually on weekdays they are not so busy. Breakfast was excellent and a lot more staff evident and seeing to everyone's needs so maybe the hotel had compensated for the night before. A really lovely stay. We will definitely go again.

We had an excellent stay at The Lincoln Hotel. The staff are all really friendly and helpful. It is a great location to stay in the historic area of Lincoln.

Exterior looked like a run down office building. Upon entering the wrong entrance the bar lady was unhelpful in giving directions to the reception, the reception lady was grumpy and unwelcoming. The bedroom was small and dark, the window view was a very run down court yard with just other bedroom windows and an ugly staircase. Bathroom door was a few feet away from the bed and the toilet instantly inside the bathroom door, so privacy on the loo was minimal. The bathroom was old and ugly like an old care home, the bath looked at least 50 years old but not in an antique way, more like a stained way. Massive horrible shower curtain to make it even worse. The radiator in the room was oversized so if it’s on your cooking hot. It did have a TRV on though. Windows looked like care home windows. Two good things to say about the room was a comfy bed and a table with a kettle and coffee. Overall a terrible hotel for around £150 a night. Bar downstairs looked ok but didn’t drink in there.

Excellent position gor exploring the cathedral and castle. Good pubs and restaurants close by. Easy on site parking.

Excellent location almost adjacent to the Cathedral and the old city. Older hotel, but well maintained. Wonderful views from bedroom window.

We always stay at the Lincoln Hotel when visiting Lincoln. Lovely staff, comfy beds, great breakfast. Excellent location for visiting the Bail, cathedral, castle and the Strait. Plenty of local shops and a visit to the Wig and Mitre is a must

This hotel has the best location in the city: right opposite the cathedral. It’s a fair distance from the railway station and up the famous hill through the medieval heart of the city but I was delighted. Such a pleasure to hear the cathedral bells. It is actually a modern structure - very 1960s - but they have renovated it and everything was fine. I was actually in the older building adjacent to the main building which had more of an Edwardian character. Breakfast was excellent. In sum, a modest hotel that delivers a fine experience. This would be my choice if I returned to Lincoln.

In Lincoln to visit tourist sites and hotel is fantastic location for visits to the Cathedral and Castle.

There were shops nearby, the Cathedral was just over the road and there was a bus stop right outside the hotel, so we were able to do quite a lot by bus. We weren't keen on the dinner menu, but the breakfast was very good. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The room was ok, but, as with most hotels, there was only one chair so we had to take it in turns to sit comfortably and watch the TV in the evenings.

Just back from an enjoyable 6 nights stay at The Lincoln Hotel. Room was perfect for our needs. Very good room service, lovely fresh towels if needed. Excellent breakfast. Ideally situated for Cathedral, Castle and other places of interest. Plenty of eating options.

Bathroom was showing its age! Shower way too low and wets all the floor. Aircon in the rooms would be good, had windows open but delivery’s and staff in the morning woke us up. Bar and restaurant is fantastic and good price, staff in hotel friendly and helpful.

Hotel is in a good location. A bit dated and needs some TLC. It was clean and the staff were friendly. However, the breakfast was not so good and waste of money. All self service. No offer of cooked egg selection e.g. poached and no smoked salmon as advertised on the menu. Didn’t like the push pots for tea and coffee. Once seated not a single member of staff spoke to us.

My husband dined alone in the evening and had fish and chips. It was terrible. May have been re heated and was burned and the fish full of water.

The Lincoln Hotel was perfectly positioned for our 4 day break in Lincoln, directly opposite tge cathedral. Having an onsite car park was a also a key factor. We had a nice Sunday lunch in the hotel when we arrived on Sunday.

My first visit to Lincoln and this is tricky...all staff from reception to bar/restaurant and room cleaners were brilliant...welcoming, friendly, helpful and a joy. Rooms were very clean and cosy being kept very warm during what was a very cold spell...a little too hot for some ! And plenty of hot water for good shower/bath. Location was exceptional being opposite cathedral and close to a plethora of super independent shops and some restaurants which didn't have time to sample. Breakfast room and restaurant both have a great view of the cathedral through panoramic windows and you'll even be able to watch the Red Arrows practice whilst eating breakfast if you're lucky like us. So here's the rub...food...breakfast provides a great selection but the hot buffet was not as hot as it should be on both mornings (admittedly we attended near 0900) toward end of sitting but better warming facilities are needed...and you can order something freshly cooked if you wish, so bear in mind if happy to wait...I'm sure it will be good. Likewise evening meal, menu good. food presentation good but lacks taste/flavour..as if preprepared and warmed. Send chef to Castle Hotel where sampled excellent braised beef second night ! Also lift a bit dodgy but works. Lastly Car parking was excellent..very easy with good size spaces..a real plus. Thank you for lovely stay. I will likely return to check if comments taken on board as if food improved I would give 5 stars for excellent hotel and value.
