Convienent location and walkable to most historic locations, great breakfast, pleasant staff, ok room. For the price, it could have been a lot nicer. The baseboards were falling off and it was dated. It's very loud so be prepared for that. It's on a super busy road with lots of loud traffic. The parking they advertise isn’t ideal. There are a few tiny spaces up front and they say they have some else where but if you have anything bigger than a small car, you cant park your car there. So the parking isn't entirely as advertised but if you're lucky enough to get one of the spots, it's great! We parked right up front and it was wonderful.

The Athens Gate hotel is a great location for visiting many sites in Athens such as the Acropolis and Acropolis Musem. There's a lot of shopping and dining options close to the hotel as well. The reason for the 4 star rating is due to the old and tiny elevator in the hotel. But it's a great place to stay and convenient location. The free breakfast is also great.

The staff was very friendly. The restaurant views and quality of the meal was excellent, however, the hotel itself needs serious updating. Only one of two elevators was working, causing long delays in transporting luggage to and from the rooms.The hotel seems to cater to large tour groups, making it feel extremely crowded both in the lobby and in the restaurant.

The room was clean and had a good view of the Parthenon. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They do not have smart TV’s so no Netflix or prime and the only English programming was CNN and BBC news. But in good location for everything else food, shopping and tours.

The hotel’s location was excellent—right in the centre and within easy walking distance to everything you need for a stay in this bustling city. Breakfast, though limited in selection, was tasty, the coffee was excellent, and the staff were attentive. Check-in and check-out were friendly and uncomplicated, and we appreciated that the hotel was able to store our bags after check-out. Unfortunately, the room itself did not meet the expectations of a four-star property. It was dark and felt dingy due to the very small curtain opening, and overall cleanliness was questionable (when moving the bedside table to look for a power outlet, it was dusty behind there). There were no outlets or USB ports near the bed, which was inconvenient. The flooring—made up of plank-style panels—was lifting and peeling, especially near the bathroom. The bathroom was functional with good water pressure, but had cracked tiles, visible mould around the shower base, and poor lighting, making it impractical for tasks such as applying makeup. The lifts were also tiny, slow, and very dated. Overall, the hotel served its purpose for a short stay, and given its central location, it worked well as a base for exploring the city. However, the room standard and facilities fell short of what we would expect from a four-star hotel.

We had a fabulous stay at the Athens Gate Hotel. Reception staff were very helpful, rooms very clean & comfortable. A large selection for self serve breakfast. Roof top bar/restaurant has an excellent view of the acropolis. We booked a room over looking the Temple of Zeus. Bit of noisy traffic, but you are in the centre of Athens so didn’t bother us & the bed was so comfy. It’s a great location, short walks for sights, shops & restaurants.

I liked the location. It was our anniversary and I asked for a room looking at the acropolis. I also asked for a late departure and I was only given 30 minutes. Also the room that I was given was a low floor facing the loud traffic all night. Not acceptable.

We liked our room, especially the balcony with a view of the Acropolis. It was worth the extra money to book the upgraded room for that alone. The breakfast buffet had an ample variety of food. My only complaint would be that the AC in the room is on a 2 hour timer so we had to get up every 2 hours during the night to turn it back on - during hot weather this is a little ridiculous.

Super location to reach all the main attractions. Also the Hop on Hop off bus leaves almost next to the hotel. The rooftop restaurant was very nice to have dinner and breakfast. Friendly staff. Rooms were a bit small but very clean and comfy. Great value for the money (especially winter time).

I had a wonderful stay at the Athens Gate Hotel! The location is excellent—close to all the major attractions—and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. Room was clean and comfortable, nice view to the Temple of Zeus from the room. Hotel location is fantastic, 5 mins walk to Acropolis entrance, Museum and Metro. However, no parking even if you want to stop for a minute to load up a rental car - it is on a very busy street. Staf is not very friendly. Very business like, and will answer your touristy questions like a robot and are in a hurry to be done with you.

The room was so clean and the bed were so comfortable! Every day we stayed here was fantastic. The staff was amazing the reception staff so helpful with all of our questions and instructions. The breakfast and the VIEW from the restaurant was absolutely stunning and breakfast buffet style. Loved it and definitely recommend.

A few days ago, I had an experience at this hotel that left me feeling deeply uncomfortable and unwelcome. When I returned to the property and walked toward the elevator, the same woman who had checked me in suddenly shouted “Miss! Miss!” across the entire lobby. Her tone was loud enough that all the guests seated nearby immediately looked up at me. When I reached the elevator, she shouted even louder from her desk. Feeling confused and startled, I asked whether she had a question. She responded by asking, “Are you staying at this hotel?” The manner in which she addressed me felt completely inappropriate. Yelling across a lobby is unprofessional in itself, but shouting such a question — loudly and publicly — made me feel singled out, scrutinized, and embarrassed. It was especially unsettling because I clearly had my room key, was heading to the elevators, and she had personally checked me in just days earlier. The interaction made me feel as though I was doing something wrong, when I was simply returning to my room. The next day, I brought my partner to speak with her and asked why she had behaved that way. She explained that if she doesn’t recognize someone’s face, she asks whether they are staying at the hotel. However, in all my years of traveling, I have never experienced a staff member — especially someone who is not security — shouting across a lobby to question a guest’s right to be on the property. I also observed numerous other guests entering and exiting freely with

The staff at this hotel was great. I’d already booked a private transport when I was notified by guest services that they could arrange that for me. From the time we got there until we left, we were treated like royalty. The hotel is an easy walk to Plaka (even though we are mobility impaired) and eating choices are plentiful. We have another trip booked for next year. 🙂

Everything was absolutely amazing in this hotel the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. The location was perfect walking distance to shops restaurants you name it. It’s close but as if that wasn’t enough. The hotel room and beds were very comfortable not to mention the amazing buffet breakfast and the staff that serves it. What could be better than greeting each day with a beautiful view of the Acropolis I ask? Maybe ending each evening with a lit view of the Acropolis from the rooftop restaurant! The help from the desk was excellent. Arrived early and was easily able to store bags and get email updates for when room is ready. Also given ideas for things to do close to the hotel while waiting needed to get some laundry done in the process was simple inconvenient although expensive. Located within walking distance of major sites. When we did venture away from the area they were able to get a taxi for us within minutes. View from the rooftop restaurant was incredible. Had read that it was difficult to get elevators because there were only two. Thankfully, that was not the case with us. Maybe we just got lucky. Would definitely return if back in Athens.

Fantastic location - very easy to walk to sights/ metro station. Breakfast really needs to be better…..everything we had was luke warm (even if we got there dead on breakfast beginning); watered down orange juice; the same small choices every day; very tight space in the buffet area when busy. Lovely croissants and great view from the terrace though!

We were in Athens for a few days and loved this hotel for the staff, the room and such an excellent location, walkable to so many sites. Breakfast was good with several options, but was the same every day (not a big deal, but after 3 days you’d appreciate it if they’d change up the hot dishes a bit). Would definitely stay again!
