Lift is still broken after 6 months, no WiFi in room so had to move. Unable to reach reception without walking down. Have to pay for parking now which isn’t secure.

The lift was out of action and it would seem that it had been for some time. Whilst I have no problem using the stairs (as I prefer the exercise) this would have caused a major problem for some of my friends whom normally would have stayed as well. Also, no mention of this was made when booking.

Parking has increased in pricing from £10.00 a night, then they take a deposit of £50.00 which is given after 10-15 working days which the receptionist kept saying we understand new management. The lift wasn't working still. This has been more than a year. So the receptionist puts us up on the 4th floor when I told him my partner has asthma can you put us lower and he said no. Also the key card given was dirty, he had to write in the keycard our room number rather than on a card envelope so we couldn't see our room number properly. Such a let down really. Checking in took alot longer as everything is done on a tablet and the receptionist sounded extremely rude. Not sure if I want to stay again and I should really ask for my money back as the room wasn't clean.

I am unaware of a pool if there was one here it was never mentioned at reception. Parking is shown as an amenity but you have to pay £10.60 for the night PLUS £50 deposit on the stay. The lift was also broken so after 5 hours of travelling to have no lift was disappointing. Room was clean, however the window never shut fully which meant I could hear the bus station, taxi men talking all night leaving a breeze making the room feel cold (video taken). There was tissue stuff to the top of the window, which is screwed shut (photos taken). The door peep hole is missing so rubbish and tissue have been stuffed in. I called reception 7 times in the evening to request the radiator be turned on as it was on high but no heat was coming out. I was never called back and once they finally got back to me. They told me it should be on and sent me a heater up, which they did. However nothing was sorted with the radiator. On the phone call also they confirmed the delivery driver was down stairs with my food, when asking for him to delivery it to the door (as the lift was broken) they refused and said I had to come collect it. Bearing in mind check out is 11, I came back to my room after breakfast to have a shower and freshen up at 10:30 to find a cleaner had been in my room stripped my bed and removed my towels! I have not even checked out and my room has been stripped. Will never stay here again, complete was of money!!

Having stopped at this hotel several times previously I was incredibly disappointed with the standard we received on this occasion. I came here with my mum for a two night stay and was shocked to hear that we had to pay a £50 damages fee which we have never had to do before but this was never explained to us at the time. We were also told the lift wasn't in use and hadn't for about a month but we later found out it was a lot longer looking at previous reviews. My mum is 76, we were on the 3rd floor and there was no offer of any porter service which should have been implemented if the lift hasn't been in use for so long, we both struggled up the stairs with our cases. The room was pleasant and clean but we only had one set of towels between two, we had to ask several times for some more. There was very little staff anywhere, it's all looking very tired, the bar had was very limited as they had run out of lots of drinks and the menu hadn't been adapted to show this. We still enjoyed, the hotel is still beautiful and in a fab location I just hope someone can get it turned round.

Main thing about this hotel is the location. Right next to the main station and across the square from the Court. If that's what you want, then brilliant. Rooms? Clean and comfortable, if rather 'tired'. Everything a bit tatty. But perfectly OK. Main downsides? The restaurant and the 'gym'. The gym is in a smelly basement with some very basic and (again) 'tired' equipment. But the restaurant... One of the worst meals I've had in my life - and expensive with it. 'Cajun spiced haddock' sounded experimental but was merely awful. Two grey and watery chunks of haddock sandwiched together (I assume they couldn't be separated when frozen), with a dollop of frankly disgusting orange goo on top. Also, 'saffron mash' that tasted like instant potato and food colouring. Green beans had definitely seen better days a week or so ago. All this for twenty quid.

Budget hotel that has seen better days - if you are bothered by stains on carpet and chairs, marks on the walls, etc. it is not for you. But the architecture itselfs is pretty great - high ceilings and wide corridors. But it is a very convenient location, just by the train station. Lovely updated bathrooms. The breakfast has good options to fill you up. Staff is very nice. Gym is old by rowing machines were working and use dumbells, much better than nothing. The heating is not turned on before 7pm, and considering it's dark before 5, it gets cold before that. And even with the heating on, I've been cold every single nights.

The room was shabby, filthy walls, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling the Tv was falling to pieces & Stained carpets. The bath did not stay full once a bath was run it instantly drained itself. The duvet was so thin and given it was one of the coldest nights of the year and the heating was turned offf at some point of he night. It was a long cold night. Waking up at 4am being able to see my breath in the freezing cold room and having to put on extra layers to try and warm back up. Overall a very disappointing stay.

I have stayed several times do knew the property was a bit shabby but it was dirty too. There was dust on surfaces, numerous stains on the carpet in the bedroom and a shard of glass on the stairs from when i arrived to when i left. Breakfast was very limited and the cooked breakfast was inedible.

My room including bathroom was very clean and spotless. Check-in was fast and friendly even though they had two trainee employees but check out staff wasn’t friendly. Check-in and check out lift wasn’t working (out of service) was a nightmare going upstairs to the 3rd floor and back for such a reputable Hotel rating that made me book it. After my functions climbing up to the 3rd floor tipsy was a nightmare.

We were a little disappointed with our stay here. The window in the room could not close properly. The curtains were filthy and stained. The bed head was stained with what looked like blood and other soils. The worst part was there was no lift. Thankfully we were one flight of stairs up and someone kindly brought the luggage to the room for us. The parking on site was a bit problematic for us in that you are required to download an app. Sadly because I am from another country this app was not available to me on my cell phone l. I had already parked my car there thinking that i would just pay at the desk. We were informed by the staff that if we moved our car out of there we would be ticketed 100£. Keep in mind we had just parked our car there a few minutes before this. The staff at the desk were friendly. There was a really kind lady I think her name was Pam who loaned me her personal umbrella. Very grateful for her kindness. The breakfast wasnt bad. They had traditional English breakfast offerings. Overall many of the employees were kind but the hotel itself needs much attention.

This is most definitely an average/mid-range hotel for a city centre location. The lift wasnt working on arrival which we were not informed about pre-arrival, as there are a lot of stairs. The room was okay, clean and basic. The windows really need to be upgraded to be sound proofed as Bradford city centre can be noisy throughout the night.

An old building so don’t expect state of the art. Staff were great, bed was comfy and breakfast was good too. Hotel itself is really warm and the temp in the room is unbearable due to no air con. Decent place though, no complaints really.

Efficient check in. Location right in the centre of Bradford, across the road from the train interchange. Outstanding view from the room overlooking the square. Lovely old building full of original features. Now the bad news… we had a room on the top/3rd floor, but the lift was out of order. I’d read reviews, so knew to expect it. It just seems that they’re in no rush to get it fixed. What I didn’t expect was the disco/nightclub in the basement of the hotel that could be clearly heard even on the 3rd floor. The noise went on until 1am on the Saturday night/Sunday morning, so no chance of any sleep before then. Overall, a good stay in a lovely hotel. If you pick a night with no disco, it’ll probably be even better.

The building is beautiful. High ceilings and original fixtures make this a special place to stay. Located in a great location near to transport, shops, restaurants and bars. Was once a grand building but sadly now looks very tired. Receptionist was not friendly or helpful at check in, giving no information at all. Room was large and clean but felt in need of a refurbishment. None of the furniture is in keeping with the building and looks worn. Has the potential to be a beautiful hotel.

The hotel is very good in terms of location. The rooms are large (we stayed in an executive room) and the hotel is very clean. It is very good value for money. Our room would benefit from being able to open the windows or air conditioning, as the room got very warm during our stay and we could not cool it down. A fridge in the room would also be good.

Our room was comfortable but the bathroom could of been better. It had black mould around the bath and in-between the tile. There was a Take That tribute band on and our room was directly over the function room and was very noisy, so much that the room was vibrating.We couldn't get to sleep until after 1am when the music finally finished. We wasn't made aware of this at check in or I would of requested another room.

Tried to check in at 2pm as it states to find they dont do check in til 3pm now. Receptionist insisted that it had been updated however all communications from them stated 2pm. She was also unhelpful and didnt even give an apology. This left us unable to check in until after 11pm as we had plans for the rest of the day and picked the hotel as we needed an earlier check in.

Parking has increased in pricing from £10.00 a night, then they take a deposit of £50.00 which is given after 10-15 working days which the receptionist kept saying we understand new management. The lift wasn't working still. This has been more than a year. So the receptionist puts us up on the 4th floor when I told him my partner has asthma can you put us lower and he said no. Also the key card given was dirty, he had to write in the keycard our room number rather than on a card envelope so we couldn't see our room number properly. Such a let down really. Checking in took alot longer as everything is done on a tablet and the receptionist sounded extremely rude. Not sure if I want to stay again and I should really ask for my money back as the room wasn't clean.

After getting the check in signature for a pre-paid booking via Expedia, the reception staff asked if we wanted to check in at all as the lift was broken and the room was on the 3rd floor. No apologies or even use of the word sorry. When expressed our frustration at being tricked into check in by taking the signature and then releasing the information on the broken lift, the staff member said he will call the police. When challenged to actually call the police, another staff member came out and managed the situation. It is bad enough to not provide an advertised service, it is even worse to then talk so arrogantly and threaten to "call the police"

Large room in great period hotel. Terrible check-in with a strict 3pm start resulting in long queues. Bed was not level to the floor and wall had prominent hand marks. Bathroom was good and clean. No lift and a good three floor stair experience. Good location for city centre

The check-in process was very long winded. No computerised system, hand writing down the hotels.com itinerary reference and taking too long to confirm the booking. Although not an issue for us, the elevator was out of service so the stairs were the only way up to the rooms. Overall the room was comfortable if a little dated. The staff were friendly and welcoming but it would be nice to have an early check-in option, even for an additional charge.

I arrived to discover an undisclosed £50 per night "deposit". When I queried it as I had in full, the receptionist pushed a plastic notice at me and explained in a bored voice that it was hotel policy. I was then expected to sign a waiver withou being given chance to read it first - very rude in my opinion. I was told the deposit woukd be held for upto 15 working days so thank goodness I was only staying 1 night! While the hotel was nice enough and all the other staff were really friendly, the nightly deposit, which was not made known at the time of booking, means I woukd never book this hotel again and certainly would not recommend it to anyone else either. A shame and very disappointing and can honestly say I have not had this anywhere else.

The building is beautiful. High ceilings and original fixtures make this a special place to stay. Located in a great location near to transport, shops, restaurants and bars. Hotel itself was great value, good sized clean rooms, really comfortable bed. Really pleasant communal areas. Check in was a long process, particularly after a long day travelling. Really unhappy by an unadvertised £50 pre authorisation charge (apparently refundable 5 days after check in) levied on check in. It’s not clear what this money was pre authorised for.

Well located hotel - everyone else has mentioned the broken lift so we won't go there, assuming there's a shortage of engineers in Bradford. We were greeted by a receptionist who immediately walked off halfway through trying to check in - this was the first warning sign, although she was apologetic. The second apparently didn't understand our booking so we had to check in again in the morning; turns out it takes at least 3 receptionists to check in. The person in the morning was, however, very switched on and friendly. The main issue was being placed in an adjoining room as a single person. Very odd decision as the walls are paper thin and it generally made me nervous as I felt like I was in the room with the people next door - you can hear everything. Thankfully a more helpful person on reception agreed to move me on realising this wasn't a sensible placement after listening to the evening squabbling of my neighbours and realising it wouldn't be a great night's sleep. After that, the next room was fairly ok. Nice view, the bathroom is reasonably modern. Breakfast is certainly good. Adequate lodgings for a night or two. Stay ended on another staffing faux pas however as Housekeeping walk in on you despite a do not disturb sign. So in summary - perhaps some training / common sense decisions, as well as a lift engineer...?

the hotel is located across the road from Bradford Interchange bus and train station so very handy if travelling by public transport. Located near the heart of the city so convenient for the major attractions including the media museum. The city itself is quite compact sop most things are within walking distance. The hotel is a Victorian railway hotel built in the mid19th century and still retains the grandeur of that time. The rooms were clean and comfortable and despite being near the main stairs there was little noise. Despite the status it is a very reasonably priced hotel.

The roadworks make it impossible to get there. I am sure I was flashed a few times, bus lanes etc ., but the kind receptionist asked me to send in any tickets and the hotel will sort out. Other than that a great Hotel, and is one of my favourites.

Right in the centre of the brilliant centre of Bradford where pedestrians can move around freely in the recently replanned Norfolk Gdns. Very good location my room was good. The lift wasn’t working so that was particularly annoying as I wanted to get into my room quite often and had to go up and down two flights of stairs. Otherwise, I’d recommend it

Efficient check in. Location right in the centre of Bradford, across the road from the train interchange. Outstanding view from the room overlooking the square. Lovely old building full of original features. Now the bad news… we had a room on the top/3rd floor, but the lift was out of order. I’d read reviews, so knew to expect it. It just seems that they’re in no rush to get it fixed. What I didn’t expect was the disco/nightclub in the basement of the hotel that could be clearly heard even on the 3rd floor. The noise went on until 1am on the Saturday night/Sunday morning, so no chance of any sleep before then. Overall, a good stay in a lovely hotel. If you pick a night with no disco, it’ll probably be even better.

I am unaware of a pool if there was one here it was never mentioned at reception. Parking is shown as an amenity but you have to pay £10.60 for the night PLUS £50 deposit on the stay. The lift was also broken so after 5 hours of travelling to have no lift was disappointing. Room was clean, however the window never shut fully which meant I could hear the bus station, taxi men talking all night leaving a breeze making the room feel cold (video taken). There was tissue stuff to the top of the window, which is screwed shut (photos taken). The door peep hole is missing so rubbish and tissue have been stuffed in. I called reception 7 times in the evening to request the radiator be turned on as it was on high but no heat was coming out. I was never called back and once they finally got back to me. They told me it should be on and sent me a heater up, which they did. However nothing was sorted with the radiator. On the phone call also they confirmed the delivery driver was down stairs with my food, when asking for him to delivery it to the door (as the lift was broken) they refused and said I had to come collect it. Bearing in mind check out is 11, I came back to my room after breakfast to have a shower and freshen up at 10:30 to find a cleaner had been in my room stripped my bed and removed my towels! I have not even checked out and my room has been stripped. Will never stay here again, complete was of money!!

Great location for city centre shopping, ample parking in the area although prices vary a lot from £1.50/hr to £8.00 for 24hrs Breakfast was plentiful and taste was fine, didnt have evening meal as menu seemed limited and not that appealing, room size was larger than expected with very compy bed, bathroom was also nice size, all very clean and fresh smelling, would recommend and stay again

I enjoy staying at the hotel when staying for business, the staff are lovely and the rooms are okay and meet my needs. But I must admit the menu for the restaurant is misleading and I wont be eating there again. Though the £20 set meal is worth it there is a further charge of £5 on a couple of the meals - why have them on would be my thought. If choosing of the main menu - there is also two costs - eg. Steak - £23 but then there is apparently there is a surcharge on this of £5 . Why cant it just be priced how much it is - its a disappointing meal to be honest and the cut of meat used is probably the cheaper variety that you can get in any supermarket.

We’ve already expressed some thoughts in our review yesterday. The central situation was excellent and was perfect for us. We really liked the general feel of the hotel - impressive foyer and wide corridors- and the staff were good. Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed the luxury of a sitting room with a settee. A very comfortable bed, we slept well. Our breakfasts were good - a lot to choose from and we thought the quality was good. Of course, the downside was the lack of a lift. I understand this has been out of order for some time and needs to be replaced (we thought it just needed repair.) Anyone booking a room here would need to give this serious thought- the stairs are impressive but there are a lot of them! Perhaps some reduction for anyone above the ground floor could be considered. We feel sorry for staff if they have to carry stuff up and down. Otherwise this is a great hotel!

Hotel bedroom spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only problem that we had was the fact that the lift was out of order and had been for some time , and was going to be so for another month, just not good enough. I will say that the receptionist did change our room from the fourth floor to the first floor, apparently the lift only goes the third floor.

I will say that the receptionist did change our room from the fourth floor to the first floor, apparently the lift only goes the third floor.

Overall it was a disappointing experience. The lift wasn’t working and we were on the fourth floor. Upon arrival there were no towels in the room. We were supposed to get a bathtub but we got a shower instead. When we arrived for breakfast there was no food and we had to wait 15 minutes. However breakfast was the highlight of our stay. The quality was really good.

The building is beautiful. High ceilings and original fixtures make this a special place to stay. Located in a great location near to transport, shops, restaurants and bars. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Shannon and the other staff are friendly and efficient and made our stay enjoyable. Food was tasty in the restaurant. Breakfast in morning was good and again the staff serving were friendly. The room had everything we needed and a fantastic view of the town hall. Comfy bed with nice cotton bedding and a large flat screen TV. We would stay here again if we are in the area. Very good value for money.

Main thing about this hotel is the location. Right next to the main station and across the square from the Court. If that's what you want, then brilliant. Rooms? Clean and comfortable, if rather 'tired'. Everything a bit tatty. But perfectly OK. Main downsides? The restaurant and the 'gym'. The gym is in a smelly basement with some very basic and (again) 'tired' equipment. But the restaurant... One of the worst meals I've had in my life - and expensive with it. 'Cajun spiced haddock' sounded experimental but was merely awful. Two grey and watery chunks of haddock sandwiched together (I assume they couldn't be separated when frozen), with a dollop of frankly disgusting orange goo on top. Also, 'saffron mash' that tasted like instant potato and food colouring. Green beans had definitely seen better days a week or so ago. All this for twenty quid.

Great location for city centre shopping, ample parking in the area although prices vary a lot from £1.50/hr to £8.00 for 24hrs Breakfast was plentiful and taste was fine, didnt have evening meal as menu seemed limited and not that appealing, room size was larger than expected with very compy bed, bathroom was also nice size, all very clean and fresh smelling, would recommend and stay again

Great price , room was on the top floor and a really good size. Some parts of the property need updating but all in all worth the money. Staff were excellent.

Nice clean well presented room, staff assisted with a new room as our original room had a slight issue but it was dealt with instantly only negative was we would have loved to have either had a fan in the room or been able to open the window a crack it was painted shut but had a safety device for when it opened

We arrived at around 11:45pm after a family gathering and were very disappointed to find that our family room was not ready, despite check-in being from 3:00pm. The phone in Room 218 was disconnected, so as I was travelling alone with my children, I had to take them to reception to report the problem. I was asked to wait while the beds were made. I would have happily made the sofa bed myself, but there was no bedding available in the room. When we returned, the sofa bed had been made, but no blanket had been provided, meaning another trip to reception. The alternative phone number we were given to contact the hotel from my mobile was also unavailable. Unfortunately, the issues didn't end there. The portable heater in the room was damaged, with a wheel missing, and it tipped over onto my son's foot. The room itself was not clean or well maintained, with cobwebs on the ceiling, curtains hanging off the eyelets, dusty furniture, and not enough towels, so we had to request more. The room felt tired and neglected, and we were kept awake by noise from the room above before being woken early by street noise. Considering we didn't arrive until almost midnight, I expected the room to have been fully prepared after being available for check-in since 3:00pm. Instead, it was poorly maintained and not ready for guests. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay, and we couldn't wait to leave, checking out before 9:00am the next morning.
