Amazingly good staff - friendly and efficient. Surprised no dining room for evening meals but with such good (Michelin starred?) pub 3 minutes walk away they were forgiven. New batteries, with cleaned contacts, were needed in the safe so it was a good job that we weren't too worried about leaving valuables in our room. Excellent breakfast!

Excellent value if you want somewhere clean and basic to stay. Staff friendly, check in and check out quick and easy. Room comfortable, bed was actually as comfy as some in 5 star hotels. Car park entry is very tight and would be easy to damage wheel/car if not careful but very minor issue. Overall recommended and would stay again.

This is an older building with lots of character. The bedroom was huge with lots of space and a view over the garden. The bed was comfy, although the mattress did seem to sag in the middle a little. The bathroom was nicely decorated, but I was a little surprised their wasn't any shampoo/conditioner in addition to the shower gel. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. We did have a drink from the bar after hours, which was allowed but the chap serving us didn't really have a clue so it took a while! The location is a little out of the centre, but that meant it was nice and quiet.

2-night stay, traveling into Bristol town Centre. 30 minutes away - if you travel via A4 Portway. Very pleasant and supportive staff. The evening meals were awesome - Steak, mushroom & ale pie was knockout!! Room 21 was large and well-resourced in an outside building next to the main house. No noise from other guests, although the doors do bang shut if not handled correctly. Large area to park in, so I would definitely stay here again. Thank you

Booked for location. Quite a nice hotel if a little tired. Staff very good. Parking limited when full. Annexe rooms could hear every creak from residents above. Breakfast average. Check in and out times very good. Good hotel for a couple of nights.

The hotel was clean and tidy the down side was the breakfast.we booked breakfast for 8am we were the second couple in the breakfast room we waited for our order but people who came in after us were served first we had to wait for 30 minutes before we got our breakfast.in the end 6 more people were served before us very poor service.

Place is a little tired but very clean and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Room was old fashioned except for the bathroom but very comfortable. I ate in the restaurant and the food although a limited choice was gorgeous. I felt very looked after and relaxed.

I was in the annex and the walls were very thin (I could someone snoring in the room next door). The room was clean but a little tired, and the mattress was very firm. I wouldn't call this a country house hotel. Food was average, as was service.

Great bits:- Clean rooms (stayed in 2 of them); great staff; free parking; characterful building; very welcoming; great shower and TV in the annex room. Not so great bits:- Annex building -outer door key card failed 2 evenings running, necessitating visits to reception; we were warned about the step down into the annex room but there needs to be yellow and black tape on the step as I managed to trip over it badly the first time I exited the room and almost hit my head on the corner wall to the right of the door to the outside; an alarm sounded in my room for some time one evening that I eventually tracked down to the safe. Staff removed the battery which resolved it; there is black mold in the bathroom that could probably be dealt with using a bit of bleach; shower in room in main building not very powerful.

Some of the rooms are old and dated. I’ve stayed in three different rooms but room 1 smells of damp and it’s very tired. Drains were blocked and sink wouldn’t drain.

Looking a little tired in places but it is an old building. I’ve stayed in two different rooms now and they are huge. Staff are fantastic and breakfast arrives really quickly as you pre order the night before.

Room 21 was lively and spacious with a area for seating and watching TV, a desk should you need to work and a good sized bathroom. Whilst the hotel had an older style traditional cottage feel there were good comfortable furniture and it was very peaceful, the temperature was very warm but the window opened and there was a hurricane grade fan in the room that worked extremely well. The free Wi-Fi was excellent and even though I was on crutches I was offered a ground floor room for the 2nd night but felt comfortable enough to climb the 1 floor staircase to the room in the annex building and the 3 steps down into the room. There was ample parking and breakfast was okay (if you order in advance the night before) with both continental and cooked food.

Very nice older property with character. Staff friendly even if inexperienced - no-one about when I went to dinner. It was disappointing on the food front. Hence the rating. I needed something when I arrived and was lucky to get a less than impressive sandwich. The dinner menu was very basic and limited. 4 pub type beef dishes, 1 chicken and one vegan. Don’t advertise a restaurant if you can’t deliver.

Initial greetings from reception was very good, friendly and welcoming. We were happy with the room. This changed when we went down for our evening meal. Being vegetarian we had one choice off a limited menu. The ravioli with butternut squash, although tasty, appeared to have been cooked well in advance. It came with no sauce and was very expensive for what appeared on the plate. Breakfast however was very enjoyable with excellent service. On departure the attitude of reception on checkout was very poor, the worst we’ve ever experienced. When the receptionist finally looked up from her computer we asked for the bill which seemed to be a very arduous task for her. Being vegetarian we had one choice off a limited menu. The ravioli with butternut squash, although tasty, appeared to have been cooked well in advance. It came with no sauce and was very expensive for what appeared on the plate. Breakfast however was very enjoyable with excellent service. On departure the attitude of reception on checkout was very poor, the worst we’ve ever experienced. When the receptionist finally looked up from her computer we asked for the bill which seemed to be a very arduous task for her. Looking a little tired in places but it is an old building. I’ve stayed in two different rooms now and they are huge. Staff are fantastic and breakfast arrives really quickly as you pre order the night before.

Excellent meals. Especially breakfasts. Friendly staff and helpful. Two niggles. Lack of signage approaching from Station road. We missed the entrance twice. Trees and wet weather was part of the problem. Also lack of local information. Could find no leaflets on Bristol.

This is an older building with lots of character. The bedroom was huge with lots of space and a view over the garden. The bed was comfy, although the mattress did seem to sag in the middle a little. The bathroom was nicely decorated, but I was a little surprised their wasn't any shampoo/conditioner in addition to the shower gel. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. We did have a drink from the bar after hours, which was allowed but the chap serving us didn't really have a clue so it took a while! The location is a little out of the centre, but that meant it was nice and quiet.

2-night stay, traveling into Bristol town Centre. 30 minutes away - if you travel via A4 Portway. Very pleasant and supportive staff. The evening meals were awesome - Steak, mushroom & ale pie was knockout!! Room 21 was large and well-resourced in an outside building next to the main house. No noise from other guests, although the doors do bang shut if not handled correctly. Large area to park in, so I would definitely stay here again. Thank you

Property is very old. 350 years old. That is very cool. Close to castle, old church and old houses with thatched roofs. Other than that this hotel is very gar from everything. At least 25 min. While the experience was good. I would not choose to stay here again

Booked for location. Quite a nice hotel if a little tired. Staff very good. Parking limited when full. Annexe rooms could hear every creak from residents above. Breakfast average. Check in and out times very good. Good hotel for a couple of nights.

Amazingly good staff - friendly and efficient. Surprised no dining room for evening meals but with such good (Michelin starred?) pub 3 minutes walk away they were forgiven. New batteries, with cleaned contacts, were needed in the safe so it was a good job that we weren't too worried about leaving valuables in our room. Excellent breakfast!

Traditional hotel, very peaceful and relaxing. Friendly and helpful staff. If you want a break from the usual sanitised modern hotels, this is a very good choice. Nice food and restaurant too!

Very nice older property with character. Staff friendly even if inexperienced - no-one about when I went to dinner. It was disappointing on the food front. Hence the rating. I needed something when I arrived and was lucky to get a less than impressive sandwich. The dinner menu was very basic and limited. 4 pub type beef dishes, 1 chicken and one vegan. Don’t advertise a restaurant if you can’t deliver.

Place is a little tired but very clean and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Room was old fashioned except for the bathroom but very comfortable. I ate in the restaurant and the food although a limited choice was gorgeous. I felt very looked after and relaxed.

Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff, clean room, very comfortable bed, excellent shower, good breakfast. Reasonably priced restaurant with a slightly limited range of quality food for your evening meal. We were only there for the one-night visit because we wanted to go to Bristol Zoo Project.

Cooked breakfast expensive at £14.95, continental £12!! Parking good. Staff friendly and helpful. Centrally located for my needs, not too noisy at night. Opposite bus stop which serves both the centre of Bristol and Cribbs Causeway Mall. My room was in renovated stable block but better rooms in main building.

This was the second time we have stayed at the hotel It is a lovely old large house and we strayed in a triple room with our daughter. Staff have always been very helpful and accommodating. Good cooked breakfast, comfortable room and we got a late check out for free. Would recommended for a stay in the Bristol area

The hotel was okay for a short stay, but overall felt quite dated and not very well maintained. Our first room had a non-working shower and although we were moved rooms, the second room had a very noisy bed/headboard that we had to wedge a pillow behind to stop banging. The room didn’t look visibly dirty, but it didn’t feel particularly clean or comfortable either, especially the floors. We could also clearly hear people in the rooms opposite coming and going throughout the stay. Staff were polite and the Wi-Fi worked well, but overall the hotel could definitely do with some updating and better maintenance.
