I have been coming to Quy mill for several years now. This time, my room was dirty, the ceiling fan covered in dust, so didn't use, and found a dirty hair clip on the floor. The spa needs updating and properly maintaining,the pool had tiles missing and dirt underwater along the edge, and i swam into what looked like a "Fentanyl Patch" not good at all for health and hygiene.The jacuzzi was luke warm, and this morning the steam room and sauna was under maintenance. People i spoke to where saying pretty much the same. I feel disappointed as the weathers bad, and i just wanted to relax but couldn't.

Hotel needs a bit of TLC cleanliness also needs more attention too . Boiler in the spa wasn’t working so everything was freezing cold . Food was nice but very expensive.Staff were very attentive and polite .

Good stay, nice and quiet, the spa was wonderful, great opening times and bever to busy. Pool, jaquzzi, steam room, sauna and gym all free to use by guests! This is definately the best part. Room was nice and clean but could do with being updated and freshened up if you are picky but was warm, comfortable and quiet for our two night stay. Didnt eat at the hotel so cannot comment but what we saw looked nice. Overall pleasant stay and would stay again

Nice easy check in, room clean and comfortable, although if you have mobility issues ensure you check which room you are allocated as we had to go up to the top floor, about 3/4 staircases, quite a few steps with our luggage but wasn't a problem for us. Had dinner, which was nice, the young man who took out order was extremely polite. We went over to the spa in the evening and stayed only 5 minutes in the jacuzzi as the water was only warm and the smell was awful, like a musty damp aroma, not a fresh chlorine, clean smell that a spa should have. The area behind the jacuzzi looked grimy round the edges too. The actual swimming pool was too cold for me so didn't stay. Breakfast was nice and I feel we were well catered for. I would say though that a few friendly smiles from the breakfast staff would have been nice, they did not look happy in their roles. If you want a hotel with a Spa, like we did, then I would not recommend booking here because of the spa, however if you want just a hotel then I would recommend it.

Warm, welcoming and friendly staff. Spacious well appointed rooms with easy parking and spacious attractive outside grounds. Excellent value for money and convenient for Newmarket and Cambridge. Very enjoyable stay.

The overall Hotel site is pretty impressive I liked the easy access reception/bar/restaurant and everything is well labelled. The rooms are spacious and well maintained the bathroom was spotless and a nice shower. The health club is a nice touch although could do with a bit of a spruce up but had everything we needed. The staff, brilliant! Especially the waitress who appeared to be on duty forever!!

The hotel and room were nice although there was mould on the tiles in the shower as well as the shower head itself which you don't expect from 3 star hotels so to see in 4 star was disappointing Although dinner and breakfast were nice somewhat let down with time of service which was mainly because of small amounts of staff on each service, I will say the staff were good though just stretched

Food was OK, the room was nice but for blinds that stood off the wall by 2 inches so the room was never dark due to all the exterior lighting. The bath was covered in hair shavings from a previous guest…. I had to get me key re programmed twice during 1 nights stay…

I told your reception. Why I had to put up with dirty grout in the shower I don't know. If it is filthy clean it. Also the ceiling fan on full speed was throwing itself all over the place so we had to switch it off in case it came down. Completely unnecessary and unwelcome on a hot and humid night.

Carpet in room was dirty, stained had holes in. Upholstery on chair in room stained and dirty. Receptionist on arrival surly and unwelcoming. Can’t get drinks in spa. Bar staff were lovely, beauty therapists lovely. Receptionist a different one on day of leaving not apologetic at all when complained about state of carpet in room. Carpet in hall way annexe also filthy. Staff preoccupied with setting up for a wedding.

There was a huge amount of dust built up behind the tv it was disgusting and made me sneeze . You could hear every vehicle that drive by the other side of the window . Not worth the price at all . Dirty carpet , dirty chair . I would not recommend at all

The lunch, dinner and breakfast at this hotel could not be faulted. A varied menu is available and the food was delicious. The Water Mill restaurant is a charming location for an intimate lunch or romantic dinner. The Bar Manager, Peter Gebura was charming and went out of his way to make us feel both welcome and well attended. However, some areas of the hotel are in need of both maintenance and updating. Further attention should also be paid to room cleaning. In our case, the walk-in shower should have received more work. The hotel was by no means busy during our visit and there therefore did not appear any excuse for not cleaning the shower room properly.

The Mill The staff are friendly and very professional We like that we had access to the spa at no extra cost. We didn't make use of the restaurant on this visit. But we like what they had on the menu. The room we had, was very clean and spacious. All in all, we will be back for another visit.

Room was large! Bed very comfy! Bath was heavily marked, scratched which looked off putting. Cobwebs within room, external security night light shone through window which left a glare in the room at night. Coffee pods not replenished, meal within Resturant was cold, we sent it back, but no consideration for partners meal, so we might as well been eating separately- not the experience we wanted for our 30th wedding anniversary. Spa / pool was lovely.

A handy spot close to Cambridge but surrounded by open countryside. Plenty of free parking and acres of outdoor space to enjoy when the weather is fine. My only gripe: The auto-close on my room door didn't work properly so each day housekeeping came in, the room door didn't close properly on their exit meaning anyone could simply walk in at any time during the day. No evidence anyone did but it could have been serious. Situation reported first time it happened, but happened again the next day and no management feedback.

It's a lovely old building with interesting history, and the ground-floor room we occupied in the stable-like accommodation opposite the main house was spacious, clean and close to amenities. Unfortunately the night we went was extremely hot and humid and the ceiling fan did little to help. Our room never dropped below 26c all night, and the noise from the nearby A14 was relentless. On a cool night, we would have been more than happy, especially as we thoroughly enjoyed the pool and our meal in the restaurant.

Lovely large room on the 4th floor of main building. However, no lift. We enjoyed our stay but the lighting in the bar and dining areas in the evening was too bright and harsh. No atmosphere whatsoever. Why not turn the lights down? Candles?
Lovely large room on the 4th floor of main building. However, no lift. We enjoyed our stay but the lighting in the bar and dining areas in the evening was too bright and harsh. No atmosphere whatsoever. Why not turn the lights down? Candles?

The staff members, from reception to dining, were friendly but completely untrained and inept in customer service. Example: when we arrived early and asked to check in, we were told we were too early. There was no explanation for when we might be able to check in. At the bar-area restaurant there was haphazard table service. We had to keep asking for cutlery, serviettes, etc. The property itself needs upgrading, and cleanliness was not where it should be. When I told reception that our room was clean but hadn’t been vacuumed, there was very little response. The spa was similarly average. The flotation treatment was relaxing (it felt like lying still in an inflated hammock with an eye pillow on) but there was next to no massage, so I felt the description was misleading. When this was raised, there was no answer from staff. The staff all seem apathetic, like they’re just barely coping, and the lack of management can really be felt.

The room was sufficient although it was looking a bit tired. Gym and pool facilities good. Service was terrible annd far below my expectations for 4 stars. Given the Bar was very quiet I had to wait far too long to be served. Booked breakfast for 7am as I had to leave soon after. Breakfast not set up until 07:15 so I was 15 mins leaving late and as a result got stuck in excessive traffic. When checking out they wanted to charge me £15.00 above the price quoted on Hotels.com and the Hotel were unable to change. Overall very disappointed standard for a 4 Star hotel. Won’t be looking to stay there again

Lovely venue and looked lovely. Bedroom was very nice. Four poster bed. I would say the food is overprived for what you get, and front of house staff wasnt very freindly. I had to ask for an extra pillow for my pregnant wife at 8.5months. Said we wouldnt have any. Said ask later. So later in evening we asked and she said No all rooms are booked. I then had to come back and complain as my wife was 8.5 months pregnant. Then very rudely answered back and checked again. And ill let you guess. There was loads of pillows available.

Pros: Claire, on reception, was outstanding and I really hope this hotel recognises what an asset to the business she is. She made our stay welcoming, comfortable and addressed all concerns. Her mannerisms were calm and helpful. Joel was a great mixologist, and very informative on the cocktails! Great breakfast. Lovely rooms with beautiful grounds. Cons: For a private business, this hotel should really take cash for payments. Thr card only option is limiting and too controlling. If I ask for a small change to my breakfast order it should just be carried out, and the guest not told "I'm not sure this is possible as were very busy". If you cannot cope with the breakfast rush, hire more staff or reduce your guest capacity. The change request was honoured but it almost made us book into another hotel for the second night.

Lovely stay at Quy Mill. Really nice hotel. Loved the spa which was included, you just had to pay for treatments. Rooms were nice. We went with a standard double which was fine. Everything was clean but the shower could have done with a deep clean. Surprised that housekeeping came in when we were out even though we were only there for 2 nights. Food at the hotel was amazing. We ate at the Waterwheel restaurant, bar, and had breakfast and all were outstanding. Service was good when eating but had to wait 5 minutes before someone arrived at reception for us to check out. Location was good if you have a car as only 5 min drive to park and ride or 15 min drive to city centre. Easy access from A14.

The Water Mill restaurant is a charming location for an intimate lunch or romantic dinner. The Bar Manager, Peter Gebura was charming and went out of his way to make us feel both welcome and well attended. However, some areas of the hotel are in need of both maintenance and updating. Further attention should also be paid to room cleaning. In our case, the walk-in shower should have received more work. The hotel was by no means busy during our visit and there therefore did not appear any excuse for not cleaning the shower room properly.

Wonderful friendly staff, I felt so welcome. The facilities on site are fantastic, lots of options and lovely walks nearby in the countryside. The room was very clean, comp tea/coffee/biscuits /water, didn’t need anything more. A perfect escape.

Quiet location yet very convenient for main roads, motorway and park &rides. I chose it as a good value and quality stay for commuting to Trumpington P&R to visit Papworth Hospital. Easy 25min trip around the motorway. Nice and very helpful reception staff, I recommend it.

A handy spot close to Cambridge but surrounded by open countryside. Plenty of free parking and acres of outdoor space to enjoy when the weather is fine. My only gripe: The auto-close on my room door didn't work properly so each day housekeeping came in, the room door didn't close properly on their exit meaning anyone could simply walk in at any time during the day. No evidence anyone did but it could have been serious. Situation reported first time it happened, but happened again the next day and no management feedback.

It's a lovely old building with interesting history, and the ground-floor room we occupied in the stable-like accommodation opposite the main house was spacious, clean and close to amenities. Unfortunately the night we went was extremely hot and humid and the ceiling fan did little to help. Our room never dropped below 26c all night, and the noise from the nearby A14 was relentless. On a cool night, we would have been more than happy, especially as we thoroughly enjoyed the pool and our meal in the restaurant.

We enjoyed our stay here for x1 night in September 2024. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a really nice dinner in the bar & grill. The room was comfortable and the spa had a nice pool and set of facilities. The hotel is not really close to anything but is set in green surroundings and is quiet.

Overall, for us this is a good hotel to stay when visiting Cambridge. We haven't had occasion to use the full facilities on recent visits. But are going to make it a priority on a future stay. Rooms are good, air-conditioning works, bathroom good standard. Basin plug needs checking on this stay, water kept draining away. Minor issue.. Will be back soon

Overall the hotel was very good. My room and bathroom were excellent. My only complaint was the shower which kept running hot then cold. What let the hotel down was the food. It was below average even though the menu was simple and when I ate there the chef had a love for chilli making certain dishes almost inedible. Ive never had a lime pickle which blew your head off! I also had Royal approved sausages on a bed of bubble and squeak with cheese melted baked beans. I thought it to be a little different. The sausages were fine but what little there was of the bubble and squeak was wattery and tasteless. I eventually found the cheese tucked under the minature bubble and squeak. The dish was essentially simply sausage and beans. Breakfast was a whopping £22.50 which is simply obscene and although was nothing special. £12 would be a fair price. All the staff were excellent, it's just shame the food was so average.

The food in the Waterwheel Restaurant was so bad we thought it was a scam! I can't believe what was served. We were laughing about it by the main course. The food was obviously the cheapest catering boil in the bag they could find, the warning sign was when they wouldn't change one aspect of the dish, the potatoes, but had to choose a different meal. My food was disgusting, my wife's £36 fillet steak was absolutely tasteless, a feat in itself. It came with " herby fries", obviously the cheapest crap they could find. The " jus" on my three ten pence size pieces of raw lamb tasted vaguely of toilet. The replacement fish and chips was worse. Do yourselves a favour and don't go near this dump. The room had cobwebs on the walls at head height, so not even an attempt at cleaning. Please be warned.

we booked this hotel based on photos on Expedia. its an old tired looking hotel with dirt and dust. phones in rooms are not working. when I mentioned this staff said they can't do much about it. the restaurant onsite menu is listed and no prices listed. there was 6 pounds charge for room service, a small portion of chips was six pounds and service charge of another six pounds, I think that's day light robbery. breakfast next morning was so slow even though a booked a time slot no one was serving or taking orders. overall very dissatisfied. its in the middle of no where with out much choice of restaurants on site or nearby. overpriced hotel, not even 3 star.

Toilet was dirty when we entered the room. Had to ask for the pan to be completely cleaned. Room 44 was very noisy, constant sound of flowing water. Bed sheet had dirty marks once we pulled back the duvet at night. Staff very good, but let down by the basics

Just returned from an overnight stay. Lovely hotel with nice outside area to sit and have a drink by the stream. Good evening menu and varied breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful and we would definitely return and hopefully use the spa.

The hotel is in a beautiful, peaceful location with lovely views, and the spa was very enjoyable. Unfortunately, the hot tub was out of service during our stay. The staff were exceptional and provided 5-star service throughout. The hotel itself would benefit from some attention. The bar and terrace area needs a deep clean, with cobwebs, dead flies, and dried chewing gum visible. The ladies’ toilets near reception were heavily stained, windows throughout the hotel need cleaning, and the carpets are looking old and stained. The air conditioning filters in the rooms also appeared to need cleaning. Overall, the staff and location made for a pleasant stay, but the hotel’s cleanliness and general maintenance need improvement.

Staff adhere to rules. Check in is 3pm whether the room is ready or not. Breakfast service finishes at 10am not 10:05am. Room was very small but fine for one night. Very nice breakfast
