Great location-the pier is just cross the street. Nice staff and cool tenants! Easy to find 2pound a day parking spaces on street!

Can't complain about the hotel. staff were polite and friendly and it was a reasonable stay. Like a lot of hotels around the UK, they do look tired . the communal areas such as the reception and bar were ok and so where the rooms but could do with a makeover. Something to note, like other hotels, parking is awkward and you may not be able to park outside the hotel.

No pillow protectors. Shower was badly done. Window was hard to open and didnt lock properly, with small balcony outside. They did give us the seaview that I asked for at no extra cost. Why do hotels put guest so close together if they are not full 😠 Guests above us were noisy and woke me up in the middle of the night. They also put us by the lift and stairs, which are also potential noise. Cant comment on breakfast, as didn't have any. They didn't ask us about parking. Luckily we had a blue badge, but there wasn't a lot of parking available.

The only thing which held me back for giving a 5 star excellent was the lack of WiFi in the rooms. Once this is sorted, it'll be my #1 go to in Eastbourne!

Location is brilliant three minute walk from town centre right up the pier It’s a family run business and the whole family was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. Yes, the rooms are a bit outdated, but the cleanest of the rooms was hundred percent The bar and lounge area is very comfortable to sit in and have a couple of drinks and the prices of the drinks are very reasonable 100% would stay again Thank you

Overall, my stay at the hotel was pleasant and welcoming experience. The staff were warm and attentive, and the service offered solid value for money. That said, the balcony could have benefited from more thorough cleaning, and the absence of in-room WiFi was a notable drawback—especially since access was limited to the lobby. We needed to stay overnight in Eastbourne for a funeral, and the Afton Hotel was ideal. Very reasonable price, friendly staff. We were a bit worried that it would be noisy, as there was some entertainment going on downstairs, but that stopped at 11pm and it was nice and quiet after that, and got a good night's rest. The main issue was parking. We checked in at 3pm and got a space right outside, but when we returned later in the evening we had to park a few streets away. When we stayed, there was a LOT of building work going on in the area. I'm sure when it's finished the area will look really nice - and probably the parking situation will improve. Definitely recommend getting the parking permit from reception, and I can also recommend paying the extra for the breakfast. They do a nice full English. Nice to stay in a proper old-fashioned seaside hotel, the building is showing it's age a bit, but the staff are really friendly and helpful.

Easy to find and near the centre. Con's: Check in was difficult as computer was working slowly and the reception did not seem prepared for our arrival. Even though we had arranged and early check in. The hotel has sash windows, so as you can imagine they aren’t soundproof. The window was closed but the noise was the same as if it were open. We could hear everything. Doesn’t make for a restful nights sleep when you’ve driven far and explored around. The upside, it was in a great location literally opposite the pier and a short walk into the great shopping and eateries of Eastbourne town centre. The room was clean, albeit smelling musty. The hotel had a little bar area, pool table, plenty of seating. Parking is street parking in specific zones, and the hotel gives you a permit for a small fee, but it’s not guaranteed outside the hotel. There is a lift in the property, but the corridors are quite narrow, and there are steps up to the hotel, only a few but, still. All in all, it was ok, but I wouldn’t book again. It was just too noisy! I understand there are many more hotels in the area, and the upkeep or modifications of each hotel would cost a fortune, but i’d expect to have some level of soundproofing, at least. Yes, it was cheap, but still enough money to pay, in this day and age. If you can sleep anywhere with loads of noise, then this place will be fine for you.

I can only comment on the room i stayed in which i would say was very tired, i could feel the springs in my matress and furnishings were pretty worn like laminate missing on wardrobes and drawers and expanding foam sticking out everywhere on outside of window. Oh and you can only connect to the wi-fi in the reception area which was a slight inconvenience for me however despite this i probably would stay again.

It’s very dirty property Bathroom shower is so so small and water from shower coming out slow .. took me 30 mins to do showerr . Very very dirty hotel. Reception is at awful place.. befor book it Pls think more n more .

The property is very clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very comfortable I will go back there to stay again. Love it close to the to the beach and shops.❤️

The cleanliness of the bathroom was questionable. There was a constant odour of urine that even the fan couldn’t eliminate. The towels had a sour smell to them. Holes in the bed sheets. The mirror had to be cleaned before you could see in it. The extra charge for the balcony was over rated. We didn’t use the balcony due to the condition- the chairs needed a good cleaning, the rod iron was full of cob webs, just not inviting to sit and enjoy the view. The front desk service was friendly. Great view of the ocean.

I asked for room upstairss which I was given however wanted quiet room. Was bang next to lift people going up and down the corridor door banging straight to my wall. Bathroom pressure of water well if u can call it pressure non existent just dripping. Hair in bath . Rust mould , chipped stains in ceiling, balcony rusty dirty was scared will snap and fall… view terrible . Only positive thing was reception staff very helpful

So not terrible but not amazing either. Room quite small and previous occupants 1/2 used shower gel bottle was left in the shower for me. Bring your own pillow, the singular pillow was as deep as an iPhone. Toilet filled at such a slow drip it was not conducive to sleep Main room area was clean and tidy.

Nice clean and bright room, housekeeping carried out daily, friendly staff , but the hotel itself could do with a bit of TLC otherwise very good

House keeping was very poor, was there 6 days, no cleaning or fresh towels or bedding, the bedding had stains on it, very poor 😢

Lovely clean hotel . Room comfortable . Staff really friendly helpful. Breakfast a bit expensive £12 per person bit basic could do with a coffee machine as coffee was cold full English was tasty no yogurt fruit . Overall really nice stay good price ideal location opposite pier

Our stay was pleasant as although the hotel is a bit dated, the rooms are very clean and the beds extremely comfortable. It is right by the pier and we had sea views. Parking on the road was a bit problematic as it was the weekend. The staff are all very friendly with special mention to Adil.

Afton Hotel was a very pleasant surprise - the cleanest hotel I have been in in Eastbourne for the last three years. Staff were great - very obliging and friendly. Food was delicious - especially the “full English” breakfast. I didn’t quite understand why the Continental breakfast was the same price (‘£10) as the full English - shouldn’t it be less ? The Aftor is very good value. I will definitely stay here again when I am in this area.

Its a very basic hotel and although the room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable the shower was way too small for doing anything i couldn't move. also even though i had read reviews about breakfast being available this was not the case unfortunately which was disappointing the location is excellent and its only a five minute walk to the shops and restaurants around the area, but it does need some serious attention to appearance

Staff were friendly, and location is great. The dated in the rooms, fixtures (door handles and taps). Shower pressure very low. But overall for a few days it is still a good place to stay. I would happily go back in the future.

We couldn’t sleep all night as the mattress springs were digging into us. Really bad. The room and toilet were very old and tacky

Iv made a complaint, I’m so unhappy with this hotel, it’s literally disgusting. The staff were rude when they were about but even that was hard work trying to find someone to help, the bed had springs sticking out, Iv not slept a wink, it’s actually unbelievable

No staff, when back from a show you expect staff to be there, none just a number to contact if you need or in difficulties, people outside in porch wat smoking drugs, drinking and illisit activities, no sleep, and not felt safe, would not return there, been there before long time ago and a massive difference to what it is now

Its a very basic hotel and although the room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable the shower was way too small for doing anything i couldn't move. also even though i had read reviews about breakfast being available this was not the case unfortunately which was disappointing the location is excellent and its only a five minute walk to the shops and restaurants around the area, but it does need some serious attention to appearance

Unfortunately we only had one night at this hotel. The hotel is not much itself, and the bed it to hard for my liking. The staff was super friendly though. It’s a perfect location, and we had a lovely view from the window

The hotel was ok but in desperate need of a facelift. Booked bed and breakfast but no breakfast on the last morning. Room ok but both bathroom door and windows need replacement especially the windows.

We did not get any breakfast offered here, no food at all .this is not a Hotel it is a boarding house, Given Double Bed requested a Twin, Only one bedside table and very small shower, staff trying hard to Keep place clean .

The Hotel and staff were great but there is a restaurant advertised. says when you book this could not be included (breakfast) but the truth is Breakfast simply isn't available, We were told by staff. when "quizzed" about this, that they only serve breakfast when the hotel have a full compliment of people. but this is a bending of the truth. Comfortable beds. Watch you where you walk outside, Sick, Turds wee and glass from street fighting everywhere down the rat runs.

Property was very clean, room very comfortable, staff polite and cheerful. Addition of fruit and yoghurt to Continental breakfast would be much appreciated.

The outside of the hotel was dirty but the inside was clean on the website you have got food for breakfast and evening meal which is misleading

Location and staff good, outlook not great due to semi demolished hotel across road. Hotel a bit rundown tatty, dated but it is clean, also offered free breakfast but not available when I stayed. I don't think it was worth what I payed to stay.
