Disgusting. I had to buy bleach to clean the SHARED bathroom myself. Stunk of smoke with little air fresheners everywhere

What a terrible hotel, we weren't expecting much for the price but this place is a dump. Our room was full of dust you could see it overhang the top of the wardrobe. The carpet was filthy, the bathroom was even worse. The bath had chipped enamel, the ceiling above the shower was vile and at the side of the toilet and at the back of the toilet seat was filthy. The dust on the picture frame and on the high picture rail in the bathroom must have been there years. The 2 good points in the room were the shower was hot with good water pressure and the bed was comfy. The room was stifling hot and when we asked about a fan they said they were all out, it's a very small hotel so we couldn't believe they didn't have enough to put 1 in each room. The dining area was just as bad as the bedroom, it had wallpapered ceiling which was hanging loose. The walls were dirty, the picture frame had a dust gathering hanging off the bottom corner and it looked like the woodchip wallpaper on the walls and woodwork hadn't been painted since the 1970's. The breakfast was reasonable and hot at least. If we were really desperate for somewhere to stay in Headingley we still wouldn't stay here again even if it was free. The notice on the back of the door in our room stated the bar closed at 11. We got back from the rugby match at 10 to ne informed by the happy chap on the bar (total misery) that he was closing it and we could have 1 drink. All it needs is flocked wallpaper and it'll be a 70's themed hotel.

Wow! This was a genuine shock. Location was good for Headingley which was why I booked it. That's as far as I can remain positive. I'm not sure which was more dangerous to health - the exposed electrical wiring on the wall or the stench of fungus and bacteria coming from every surface. The sheets were clean but they couldn't mask the smell of decay from the mattress underneath which I didn't dare to inspect. The threadbare carpet was filthy and I can only say I was relieved to find that the squishy thing I trod on upon entering the room was only a discarded cola bottle sweet. Not a classic welcome. I didn't dare to take my shoes off. The whole place stinks of damp and aged dirty carpets which they tried to disguise with an army of air fresheners- a futile battle. Everything was decayed and sad. There was only a shared bathroom between multiple rooms, which was in desperately poor condition with broken taps, a mouldy shower and the cheapest furniture. It's hard to imagine how run down, unhealthy and unsafe this place is so please check the photos.

Couldn't fault the staff for helpfulness. But the room we were in was falling apart, holes in the walls, window didn't stay shut, light didn't work and the switch was showing wiring. The whole place feels past it's best. Breakfast very nice.
