Overall this hotel was decent and I would stay again. 1. The air conditioning is quite weak, somehow I don't think the conditioner is sized correctly for the room's cubic area as it took ages for it to change the temperature - with the windows closed, and radiator off. The hotel is evidently well-insulated but getting rid of excess heat is an issue. 2. Car parking - specific numbered spaces are allocated but multiple times cars were parked in different spaces, including the one assigned to me - just a free for all. There's no real need to allocate a specific space though as long as the hotel doesn't over-provision, which I don't think they would. 3. Breakfast - the selection was diverse but some staff members are much better than others at helping - there's a clear gap in the training levels with some who are really good and some not so great. The hotel caters mainly to tour groups and I think there were maybe half a dozen non-group customers staying at any one time.

The Hotel was very good and clean. Breakfast was very nice. Shared parking with the apartment complex was a bit difficult but workable.

I read both the good and bad reviews before reserving to be honest I had my doubts before the actual arrival. For context, I’ve travelled quite a bit, stayed in some of the best hotels and generally I’m a picky person. Let me tell you that this is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. What a cute soulful place!! Check in was a breeze, they let me do so early even. The room was spacious, neat, the bathroom was impeccably clean (and white so u can actually see how clean it is). no bugs in the room (I checked). But obviously if you sleep w the windows open you’ll invite the nocturnal fauna in your room. They have portable air conditioners in the room to compensate, though I agree that window screens would do wonders in this case. The lake views are of course unmatched. The restaurant was very reasonably priced, food was delicious and hearty. Some reviews commented on lack of luggage ramp and I only had a backpack but how can one complain about this given the historic beauty of this building? It’s only a few steps up & the property sent me a message ahead of time offering to help with luggage at arrival. That is 5 star service to me. One thing I regret is that I didn't get a chance to see the inside of the building much to feel the history bc I was with my niece and for just one night we had very little time in the hotel. I will make sure to see it one day to try to imagine the splendor of this place in its day. Overall, a 5 star stay in a beautiful town.

The pictures posted on the listing do not do it justice. The property is very pretty. The front desk staff is very helpful. One of the managers, Conrad, helped me with parking the car and to solve an issue with the rental car. The rooms are spacious, newly renovated with updated amenities. There is a great view of the lake from the room balcony The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was very modern. Lots of outlets to charge. A bonus was an included breakfast that was delicious with a lot of variety. I highly recommend this hotel.

Large room, quiet, nice view of Lake Lucern. Initially our keys did not work. Breakfast was modest and we were required to sit in certain areas in the back. Free bus pass was well used. Easy access to city center and the train station.

Property is being fully renovated so only a portion of the rooms are available. Our room was very nice, remodeled, and great design. Restaurant was ok with very limited menu. Breakfast is excellent. Staff very nice and helpful.

We had a great stay at this hotel, especially the bar staff was wonderful. The food was also very good, we enjoyed sitting on the front porch relaxing, enjoying a drink and dinner. Beautiful area, walking distance to the esplanade is a just across the street. This hotel is just out of the busy tourist area which we loved. There is more of a walk to the old town area but worth it because it is just beautiful. The hotel did provide bus/tram passes for all of us however we did not use them. They also arranged for our taxi to the train station. The hotel is obviously older but the rooms have been updated and are very clean.

Overall it is good. Nice modern renovated room. Clean. Old hotel and main hallway and stairs are quite aged. Creaks. Breakfast was so so. Not convenient to carry luggage up to check-in as there were no ramp to help, just steps.

Our first room had a very wet floor and only room for one of the children so we called the service desk and they rectified the situation in minutes. They moved us into a beautiful room and helped us get settled in. The staff at the front desk also helped us plan our stay there. The staff in the kitchen was wonderful. We had bought a meal that needed to be reheated and they graciously did it for us. Our breakfast was great for all of the days as well. The bus stop is right outside of the door and minutes away from the town. We loved it and would stay here again.

Highly recommend this Hotel. We got upgraded (a lovely surprise) to a room with view over Lake Lucerne, beautiful. The room was spacious and very clean. The staff were always friendly, very helpful. A bus stop outside the hotel was perfect to get into Lucerne but walking along the lake on the pathway to Lucerne was preferred, easy, safe, entertaining and just stunning. The common areas of the hotel were inviting and very comfortable. Breakfast had enough variety to please everyone, delicious. Thanks for our perfect stay.

We checked in on a rainy day and when we opened the bed there was a big brown stain with a hair by it. Looks like they did not change the sheets. Room is very dated. The price you pay if for the location and not for your stay.

Great stay, great staff, clean, convenient and extremely kind. We checked out at 4am for a train to the airport and they packed individual boxes breakfasts for our family.

Love love this hotel. It was very clean and staff are super friendly. I’m definitely staying here again and will recommend everyone to check this place out. We took advantage of the bus right in front of the hotel. You can cross the street and be at the most peaceful part of Lake Luzern. I enjoyed my walk and dipping my feet in the lake. I can’t wait to go back! Oh and the breakfast was heavenly.

Hotel is in the nice and quiet area of Haldenstrasse. Its about 10 min drive to the train station. Ensure that you got everything in the "downtown area" like shopping, food and etc. Considering this is in Luzern everything is closed almost after 9:00 pm except maybe some kebab and pizza place or Mcdonalds and Burger King. We got the lakeview front room. However the view is not full due to some treees and building in front. I dont recommend if you want the view but worth if you want the extra room size. For the amenities, towels are replaced and beds are made. I dont believe the room is cleaned except for taking out trash. There were 2 still and 2 sparking water on 1st day that were not replaced. Also included is free breakfast. It's a standard western breakfast buffet. Its a great positive since most food in the city are expensive. Theres also a free luzern city card that allows free bus and boat ride for your duration of stay.

Walkable but convenient to the bus stop and the hotel provides a bus pass! Great Mountain View’s along with lovely landscaping. Breakfast buffet nice but not varied so by day 4 we were bored of choices. Had to have a fan brought to room as AC was inadequate except in the hallway which was really cold. Would definitely stay here again though!!!

They asked (and we had to pay) extra charges for our daughter even though we had booked a quadruple room. The shower ceiling was too low. We were not able to shower without hitting our heads and shoulders.

The pictures posted on the listing do not do it justice. The property is very pretty. The front desk staff is very helpful. One of the managers, Conrad, helped me with parking the car and to solve an issue with the rental car. The rooms are spacious, newly renovated with updated amenities. There is a great view of the lake from the room balcony The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was very modern. Lots of outlets to charge. A bonus was an included breakfast that was delicious with a lot of variety. I highly recommend this hotel.

Highly recommend this Hotel. We got upgraded (a lovely surprise) to a room with view over Lake Lucerne, beautiful. The room was spacious and very clean. The staff were always friendly, very helpful. A bus stop outside the hotel was perfect to get into Lucerne but walking along the lake on the pathway to Lucerne was preferred, easy, safe, entertaining and just stunning. The common areas of the hotel were inviting and very comfortable. Breakfast had enough variety to please everyone, delicious. Thanks for our perfect stay.

Overall this hotel was decent and I would stay again. 1. The air conditioning is quite weak, somehow I don't think the conditioner is sized correctly for the room's cubic area as it took ages for it to change the temperature - with the windows closed, and radiator off. The hotel is evidently well-insulated but getting rid of excess heat is an issue. 2. Car parking - specific numbered spaces are allocated but multiple times cars were parked in different spaces, including the one assigned to me - just a free for all. There's no real need to allocate a specific space though as long as the hotel doesn't over-provision, which I don't think they would. 3. Breakfast - the selection was diverse but some staff members are much better than others at helping - there's a clear gap in the training levels with some who are really good and some not so great. Whilst checking in the staff were excellent and explained everything fully in order to make the most of the visit. The free use of buses was discussed and it was so easy with the bus stop being right outside the hotel.

Our first room had a very wet floor and only room for one of the children so we called the service desk and they rectified the situation in minutes. They moved us into a beautiful room and helped us get settled in. The staff at the front desk also helped us plan our stay there. The staff in the kitchen was wonderful. We had bought a meal that needed to be reheated and they graciously did it for us. Our breakfast was great for all of the days as well. The bus stop is right outside of the door and minutes away from the town. We loved it and would stay here again.

Didn’t get the room originally booked after double confirmation was done via email. Staff was very helpful And in the end the property manager helped resolve with a sliight reduction in cost for the 3td night. Would stay at the property again. P

Great stay, great staff, clean, convenient and extremely kind. We checked out at 4am for a train to the airport and they packed individual boxes breakfasts for our family.

We had a great stay at this hotel, especially the bar staff was wonderful. The food was also very good, we enjoyed sitting on the front porch relaxing, enjoying a drink and dinner. Beautiful area, walking distance to the esplanade is a just across the street. This hotel is just out of the busy tourist area which we loved. There is more of a walk to the old town area but worth it because it is just beautiful. The hotel did provide bus/tram passes for all of us however we did not use them. They also arranged for our taxi to the train station. The hotel is obviously older but the rooms have been updated and are very clean.

Love love this hotel. It was very clean and staff are super friendly. I’m definitely staying here again and will recommend everyone to check this place out. We took advantage of the bus right in front of the hotel. You can cross the street and be at the most peaceful part of Lake Luzern. I enjoyed my walk and dipping my feet in the lake. I can’t wait to go back! Oh and the breakfast was heavenly.

Hotel is in the nice and quiet area of Haldenstrasse. Its about 10 min drive to the train station. Ensure that you got everything in the "downtown area" like shopping, food and etc. Considering this is in Luzern everything is closed almost after 9:00 pm except maybe some kebab and pizza place or Mcdonalds and Burger King. We got the lakeview front room. However the view is not full due to some treees and building in front. I dont recommend if you want the view but worth if you want the extra room size. For the amenities, towels are replaced and beds are made. I dont believe the room is cleaned except for taking out trash. There were 2 still and 2 sparking water on 1st day that were not replaced. Also included is free breakfast. It's a standard western breakfast buffet. Its a great positive since most food in the city are expensive. Theres also a free luzern city card that allows free bus and boat ride for your duration of stay.

The hotel is oldfashioned. There is no air condition. Breakfast is ordinary, and the only available coffee is tapped from a standard industrial coffee brewing machine. El hotel es muy antiguo. Las habitaciones , recepción y restaurante deben cambiarse. Está muy bien ubicado pero aunque está muy limpio y organizado no justifica el precio porque es demasiado viejo. Sin embargo nos dieron una habitación con vista al lago y eso hizo más agradable la estancia Al igual que el tamaño de la habitación es muy bueno. Pero el desayuno es muy regular Muy pero muy básico

Large room, quiet, nice view of Lake Lucern. Initially our keys did not work. Breakfast was modest and we were required to sit in certain areas in the back. Free bus pass was well used. Easy access to city center and the train station.

Property is being fully renovated so only a portion of the rooms are available. Our room was very nice, remodeled, and great design. Restaurant was ok with very limited menu. Breakfast is excellent. Staff very nice and helpful.

We got the lakeview front room. However the view is not full due to some treees and building in front. I dont recommend if you want the view but worth if you want the extra room size. For the amenities, towels are replaced and beds are made. I dont believe the room is cleaned except for taking out trash. There were 2 still and 2 sparking water on 1st day that were not replaced. Also included is free breakfast. It's a standard western breakfast buffet. Its a great positive since most food in the city are expensive. Theres also a free luzern city card that allows free bus and boat ride for your duration of stay.

The staff at this hotel were so lovely and helpful. I really appreciated them. The hotel itself is in a great location and the views of Lake Lucerne from my balcony were fantastic. I did find the breakfast which I paid for very strange--they charged for everything, even taking a piece of fruit with you. Also, be aware that it's not accessible. You have to climb stairs with your luggage. But once you're on the ground floor, there is an elevator. It's a bit expensive for what you get, in my opinion, especially when it's not in the center of the old town or near the train station.

Extremely disappointing and unsafe experience — DO NOT RECOMMEND I have stayed at many hotels, but this was by far one of the worst experiences I have ever had. What happened at Grand Hotel Europe in Lucerne was not just poor customer service — it became a serious safety issue. At approximately 2:00 AM, the electronic door lock to our room suddenly began beeping extremely loudly. We could not sleep. I immediately called reception, and a hotel employee came to the room and removed the wiring from the lock to stop the noise. We were told that someone would come at 7:00 AM to properly repair the lock. Nobody came at 7:00 AM. Someone finally arrived around 9:00 AM, but he was unable to fix the problem. Then the situation became frightening. We were inside our room when the hotel employee closed the door, and suddenly we were locked inside. Our key would not work, and the door could not be opened from either the outside or the inside. The hotel employee tried repeatedly but could not get us out. We were essentially trapped inside our hotel room. The employee eventually tried to access the room through the roof, but even that did not immediately solve the problem. At that point, we were extremely concerned about our safety, so I called the police and reported the situation. The police contacted the hotel front desk regarding what had happened. Ultimately, the hotel staff had to move our luggage and get us out through the roof. We had to leave our room through the roof becau
