A couple of things. Check-in was quick and went well. However, the room key-card did not work and I had to return to the front desk to get it reset. They explained that they had just installed a new system a week before and there were still some bugs. The only other problem was that the small fridge in the room did not work. I advised the front desk of the situation but it was not rectified during my three day stay. Disappointing.

DaysInn by Widham Ottawa 319 Rideau Street very old building and rooms. very bad and dangerous location, all stores have 1-2 security guards, drugged people, beggars and homeless people all around. The hotel is also used to shelter refugees. I think 80% of the occupants are refugees. Smell is terrible, on the hallways (they have 2 microwaves on the hallway ) and people are cooking ethnic food all the time. In the rooms the smell is terrible too. At reception is rarely any attendant. AC works 10 min and then you have to restart it. Window does not open, fridge is barely cooling a beer after 24h. Broken ice machine and drinks machine is warm, not cold. The door of the room has to be forcefully slammed to close. We were afraid to go around the hotel. never been in a worse hotel ever and I have been in hundreds. stay away!
