My 11-night stay was okay, but more of a 3-star experience than 4-star hotel. Pros: - Excellent breakfast buffet and delicious restaurant food with generous portions. - Superb location: 5-minute walk to Copacabana Beach (Leme), groceries, restaurants, and the Cardeal Arcoverde metro for easy access to tourist spots. - Friendly, helpful, and compassionate staff, especially with issues. - Nice rooftop pool, bar, and restaurant with Rio mountain, city, and some sea views, offering great drinks. Staff were great, had good english. Was a very busy hotel, obviously popular. Breakfast was great, huge selection. But its a very noisy hotel. Hallways are tiles so very lound. Plumbing needs work, your neighbours tap vibrates in your room walls which was soooo loud. So we were awake very early most mornings. But if your an early riser this wont worry you too much. Pool up on roof is great but small for the suze of the hotel. But what was really disappointed was only 5 POOL LOUNGE BEDS ??? Lots of tables and chairs to sit, and a lovely shaded upper deck lounge area, but if wanting to lay in the sun, good luck. Ofcourse you go to Cocabanna for the beach, but a pool break day was important to us. Us Ausdies are blessed with great beaches, so we love our Pool Resorts. Overall we loved the location, the reception & door staff... and for the price, happy with our choice.

The staff was very good in accommodating. I had a smaller room and upgraded for a very Good price for my ten days stay. My room actually had a hot tub and a sauna. I had two double beds. I only used one of the beds.The other one had a broken leg and one of the jets on the Hot tub was not working. The pool area is nice., But they really need to get some more lounge.Chairs ten to twelve more would be good. There are only three right now and they are broken. I use the gym frequently. And they actually put a new treadmill in while I was there. There is other equipment That needs to be replaced because it is broken. They have a nice little lobby bar but it is not used at all. The free breakfast that is included is great and they do a nice job of getting the people in and out and stocking the food and keeping it hot. There are many rooms at this hotel And I'm sure it is a challenge for the maintenance.People to keep up with everything. The house keeping staff to the great job!

Hotel was much older and worn down than pics. Bedroom 1107 smelled of sewage the whole week. Walla has mold. Loud noise from water pipes when using sink. Bidet did not work. No kettle or iron available for use. Breakfast food was terrible and same Things. Don’t go after 9 am as it’s super crowded and it’s a feeding frenzy stampede. Breads not tasty, fruit not ripe, slimy eggs, super thick bacon that breaks your teeth. Food so bad even tea bags were awful and needed to use two of them for my cup of tea!! Front desk staff rude and blunt. Other staff nice . Rooftop steam room Never worked the whole week there. Decent view, but very little of beach and water . Power outage one morning for hours during breakfast stampede. Wasn’t fun walkimg 11 flights of stairs . Ask for lower floor.

O Hotel é o Honesto. Cama muito boa, gigante. TV do quarto smart. Banheiro limpo. Toalhas e lençóis OK. Não espere 400 fios e algodão egípcio. O que quero reclamar é da ACADEMIA, uma piada de mal gosto. Caindo aos pedaços. A área de piscina é muito bonita mas SEMPRE LOTADA em todos os horários. O café da manhã é muito bom, acima da média, mas SEMPRE lotada e com alguma fila de espera, volta de 10 à 30 minutos, dependendo do dia da semana. Os elevadores, como todo hotel médio do RJ são uma PIADA, sempre quebrados, lotados o CAOS. Em resumo é um hotel HONESTO PELO QUE COBRA, eu sinceramente esperava UM POUCO a mais. A equipe de funcionários é esforçada e atenciosa. Não vi cara feia, ao contrário TODOS sempre levando mesmo com as deficiências apontadas.

Worst hotel experience ever. When we arrived for check in we had to wait 3 hours because there was no electricity or power. The first room we got was nothing like the room we were promised from the photos. It couldn’t have been bigger than 8 square meters. We complained and after discussing with the receptionist we got upgraded to a better room. However the next morning we were woken up at 7AM from mound banging noises from the wall right above our heads. Upon further investigation, there was a problem with the safety cabinet, which was located on the exact opposite side of our bedroom wall. It sounded like there was a motorcycle in the entire hallway. Which is not surprising considering the hotel got power from a humongous generator that was standing outside on the street our entire stay. When we complained(again) we were once again met with rude and inconsiderate staff except for one man who decided to help us and upgraded us for a final time to a better room, that finally resembled what we had actually paid for. If you’re thinking of spending your time here, don’t waste your money on the breakfast buffet. It’s incredibly loud and noisy, and super cramped. Lastly I would like to point out that the safety precautions are not in place. There were electrical cords sticking out of the shower walls, and the whole thing with the safety cabinet made us feel really uneasy. Remaining staff were nice and the cleaning ladies did a decent job. I would never consider going back here.

Não se iluda com as belas fotos no site de hotéis. O hotel é muito antigo. Precisando de reformas urgente. O banheiro é velho. Não tem ducha higiênica. É banheiro com bidê. Mas o pior são as roupas de cama e toalhas...um horror ! Tive vontade de cancelar a reserva. Lençóis e fronhas super velhos e encardidos. Toalhas de banho a mesma coisa. Um nojo. Para um hotel em Copacabana deixa muito mas muito a desejar. A área de piscina no 18o andar está um horror também. Muito mal cuidada.

I had a terrible experience at this hotel. The room was completely unsanitary, with visible mold on the walls. The humidity was overwhelming, making it difficult to breathe, and the air felt heavy and damp. The beds were filthy—stained bed and an overall unclean feeling. On top of that, the staff was incredibly rude and dismissive when I raised these concerns. They did offer a different room, but it wasn’t much a difference as far as the cleanliness and damped air. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Avoid it at all costs. When asked for a refund after NOT staying at the location; (nothing was touched) we were informed by staff that they will NOT refund us regardless of the conditions of the hotel. Meaning they are well aware of the unsafe conditions.

Upon arrival, we discovered our room was dirty. The sheets were stained and the floor had not been cleaned properly. We reported the condition of the room and were “upgraded” to a room that was also unclean. Sheets stained. They had blankets in plastic bags that did not smell well. The bathroom floor flooded every time we tried to shower. The couch had stains all over. I couldn’t even sit on it at all during my stay.

El cuarto que nos dieron estaba sucio, la mesa de noche con migajas de pan, en el piso una papa frita y el marco de la venta con comida. Las sabanas estaban sucias y las puertas del closet y del baño llena de moho. I found for the most part for it to be very old. Not flexible at all with early check in. The charged an extra night to check in earlier and room was terrible. Clogged shower, toilet, phone was broken and hole in window with mini-split air conditioner line to outside. Overall bad check in experience. After first night our room was somewhat bigger and better but floor was sandy and bathroom shower head was broker. Not the best experience for an overall long stay. Won't be back too soon

The rooftop pool and the staff are the highlight of this hotel for me. The hotel itself is pretty average, nothing special. On our first night we were put one floor 1 which was a complete catfish but after asking for a room change, the staff were extremely accommodating in switching rooms! Our stay was much more pleasant after this. The property could use some work but it does the job and is clean but basic. The staff were amazing and so friendly! Special shout out to Leandre-Cruz at reception as he truly made our stay wonderful. He was very helpful in providing recommendations and assistance and was just overall a fabulous person to chat to! He made our stay much better!!! Conveniently located on the right of the hotel is a small kiosk for drinks and snacks run by Fabio - highly recommended, great quality and great staff :)

Stayed in a very loud/noisy room 103. No soundproofing (or very poor quality). Could hear all motion out in the hallway by the lifts, chat and doors opening and closing. The toilet makes a loud noise for a few minutes when you flush. Best to avoid flushing at night. I think the room is next to the car park multistorey, you can hear mental banging or something even at night. Worst of all, there is no window. It isn't advertised on the website, it should be! I felt like I was in a prison cell or something. Have never been in a room without a window. Uncomfortable for someone with mental health problems. The room was dated, certainly not 'upscale' as advertised. Staff are lovely, friendly. Breakfast is OK, good variety and not a bad environment. Room was clean and bed was big.

I arrived early, they didn’t allow early check in but did give option to leave bags so I could tour the area. Good and safe area, no issues with people sleeping on the streets in the area. The room was underwhelming for a 4 star hotel, obvious signs of age. The need to leave card key in the slot by the door to power the room, meaning you can charge your devices while you are out. I had good service experience from the staff though. The room was constantly noisy, thin walls if you know you know. The outside, like street noisy was surprisingly minimal. I agree with a lot of other reviews, the breakfast did carry a vast variety of options (egg, the good thick bacon, plenty of fruits, breads). Overall a 6/10. Staff, the breakfast, location/safety was excellent…everything else was lacking. Top issues would be the dated room and noise.

This was the worst stay in many years. The rooms smelled horrible, the WiFi did not work properly, the safe in my room was damaged. It is a very dated hotel, and the pictures seem a bit misleading. I had to book another hotel for this stay. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The rooftop bar has the BEST mojitos we’ve ever had. The front staff was the BEST, they remembered our names, always greeted us with a smile and were always willing to help and answer our questions. The rooms are basic but perfect for the travelers who are there to enjoy being out walking and enjoying the city and just coming back “home” to a safe and comfortable hotel. The location is prime and only a 4 minute walk to the beach! I highly recommend this hotel - we will surely be back again!

O quarto 910 era muito confortável e amplo, duas camas queen, que era minha demanda. Os funcionários da recepção são muito agradáveis e solícitos. Entretanto, tive um episódio de conversa alta de camareiras no corredor bem próximo a meu quarto, seguido de abertura de portas às 8:00 da manhã pelas mesmas camareiras, isso foi um pouco desagradável, pois fui acordada pelo ruído. Há fila para o café da manhã mas os funcionários manejam exceções cujos critérios não são exatamente claros. Sempre vou ao Rio para férias, não retornarei a esse hotel, prefiro conhecer outra opção.

The staff was super helpful, the front desk administration was also very polite, nice and were able to communicate with me in any language I needed, spanish, portuguese or english. The bellman staff also were really personable and helped me as a first timer in Brazil, walked me to certain locations so I felt safe and could get to know the surrounding area better. Phenomenal experience. Big shoutout to Bruno the bellman.

I am so disgusted with this property, 1st upon arrival which was hours before check in I was told I would have to pay $R20 to hold my luggage why do I have to pay to hold luggage at a hotel I paid to stay at? Ok fine we changed and went to the pool which opened at 9 and it was about 10ish, the gentleman working the pool area was so rude and dismissive. I stood in front of him while he deliberately ignored me when all I wanted to ask was how I can gets a towel which there were about 50 behind him clean and ready to go. He finally looks up and I ask for a towel and he tells me I have to wait 5 min. Why am I waiting? The pool opened over an hour ago, and then moments later acknowledged and gave towels to locals. Then at around 2ish I went to check in and was told I booked for one person which wasn’t true I booked a double bed room for 2ppm and needed to pay for an additional person so now I’m seeing a rude money extorting trend. Finally get to the room which was decent, a little outdated and well no USB outlets. Yes I am aware I am in another country but I’ve yet to travel to a hotel that doesn’t have a usb. Asking the staff for help or a question seemed to be a bother which was so strange since you work in a hotel and foreigners will probably have questions. The buffets is the absolute best part and only good part. maybe that’s why there were so many good reviews but I am shocked at how many good reviews there where when the staff was so rude and unhelpful.

I enjoyed my stay at the Royal Rio Palace Hotel. It was perfectly located two blocks from Copacabana Beach. The rooms are modern and elegant. The breakfast buffet was impressive and had so many options you couldn’t try them all. It is in a safe area and centrally located. They have rooftop pools if the beach isn’t your thing or an indoor pool for wet days. We will return when we come back to Rio.

Em relação ao café da manhã, deixa a desejar. Zero opções para intolerantes a glúten, veganos, diabéticos, lactose e afins… Péssima qualidade dos pães oferecidos. Em relação à cama: Péssima. Precisam renovar urgente os colchões. Muito mole. Você deita e afunda. Para quem vai passar, como nos, mais de 8 dias, é horrível. O banheiro demodê, ainda com bidé, sem funcionar, e sem ducha. Fora um Vazamento que havia toda vez que banhávamos. FIQUEM ATENTOS. Pagamos antecipadamente um tipo de apartamento, com cama de casal e quarto triplo standard, e na hora que chegamos no apt, eram 3 camas de solteiro e bem menor do que o solicitado. Descemos e exigimos o nosso direito, que graças ao gerente que estava no local e viu nossa reclamação, nos conduziu ao apartamento correto.

Restaurante pequeno para a quantidade de quartos, café da manhã sempre lotado e muito barulhento mas apesar de cheio não faltava nada. A reposição era imediata e contínua durante todo o tempo do café. Elevadores lentos e tempo de espera elevado. Piscina com poucas mesas, sem atendimento de garçom e música muito alta. Manutenção também deixou a desejar. Ponto alto: localização
