The resort had a few dining options and semi-private beach. The pool closes early as well as access to the beach. The pool was always cold. There is a lot of shade due to the mountain behind the hotel and makes the resort feel cold.

The Sheraton Grand Rio is an excellent choice in Rio de Janeiro, with beautiful views and all amenities one could desire (excellent tennis courts, beautiful pool area, good restaurants, nice lounge and fitness/wellness area). The hotel had a private beach with excellent pool and hot tub. The service is excellent. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The staff and service is excellent. Mr Paulo in the breakfast staff is contagiously warm and super nice. Breakfast is excellent.

We had a great stay at this hotel. It’s a very unique option in the city of Rio, with a true resort feel. The restaurants on property are wonderful and the staff works really hard. The hotel offers a free shuttle to shopping Leblon, with some other stops along the way.

How about this? Hotels.com. says they are pet friendly, they are NOT! They are small dog friendly. Windsor and Hilton are pet friendly! We found this out too late to cancel!!! Bad coffee, come on this is Brazil, no excuse! The blow drier in the bathroom should be cleaned once in a while . We ordered baguette. Sandwiches sans meat, we got club sandwiches with fried egg! That is definitely not what we ordered. The closets are too narrow for a hanger to hang straight.! If all you want is a view, go for it. But it was very disappointing to see the mold in the pool what with MRSA being a threat in 2023. There were guests using the pool that didn't seem to care. It was no small amount of mold at the shallow end and could have easily been attended to if someone cared.

El hotel es lindo, la alberca está climatizada adecuadamente, el kids club es muy bueno, los restaurantes están buenos pero son excesivamente caros para Brasil (los restaurantes tienen precios internacionales de Europa o USA, pero en Brasil comes lo mismo por la mitad del precio, por eso son caros). El personal es amable. Sin embargo, tuvimos una cucaracha grande viva en la primera habitacion. Nos cambiaron a otra y encontramos una cucaracha chiquita muerta. Obviamente me molesté mucho, el tercer cuarto si estaba sin cucarachas. Me dieron un voucher de una comida en compensación por este incidente, me pareció una compensación mediocre de parte del personal del hotel que debido a este tema nos arruinó una tarde. En resumen, todo genial en cuanto a infrastructura y atención del personal, tienen buena actitud siempre, pero encontré dos cucarachas en habitaciones (una viva y grande). Ese incidente me hace pensar que la relación costo/beneficio no es adecuada (supongamos que puedes aceptar encontrar cucarachas, digamos que no esperas pagar 300 USD la noche para un hotel donde tengas cucuarachas).

The Sheraton is a large property with its own beach and a lovely pool area. We stayed for 3 nights at the end of our holiday and enjoyed a relaxing time round the pool. The rooms are large although ours on the second floor in the low rise block was slightly old fashioned and in need of an update. However it had a lovely furnished balcony which we enjoyed.

Incredible don’t stay anywhere else in Rio. This is the only hotel with a private beach and pool connected. It was very lovely and safe and secure. Some downsides…You want a room on the left side of the beach or facing just the beach as the other side can be more noisy there is a dog school and they bark all day. There is also construction and knocking bring earplugs to have the best sleep. Also the streets are loud with motorcycles going by. Other than that 10/10 I will be back many more times with friends and family. Also you are right on the mountain with a beautiful view of Copacabana and ipanema beach. Best food in Leblon so safe and fun walking around.

eu amo o hotel, mas esqueço que ainda existem os quartos antigos, até me colocarem em algum deles… nossa, tem uma “cortina de box” e uma banheira antiga, acompanhada de um bidé… isso é muito estranho para um hotel deste nível e valores. os novos quartos são ótimos, sempre tenho a “sorte” de ficar nestes, mas desta última vez, fiquei esse antigo que realmente, é terrível. mesa totalmente riscada, tudo muito antigo e precisando não só de uma manutenção mas de uma reforma mesmo. por favor Sheraton, adoro vocês! não me coloquem mais nesse quarto terrível. até a próxima!

Highly recommend staying elsewhere if you're planning to visit Rio. At many points of our time during this trip, we were met with rude and poor service from staff from check-in to check-out. During check-in, we were told our room wasn't ready (we were early so that's understandable) but never notified when it was ready and we had to keep coming back to the check-in desk to inquire. Then, there was another instance where we came down for breakfast (we paid for a Club access room with breakfast included) and the attendant at the desk just assumed that we didn't have breakfast access without even checking our room number or name. We couldn't help but feel racially discriminated as many other folks just walked into the breakfast area with ease. Later that same day, a friend of ours who is also staying at the hotel was going to meet us at our room on a different floor. He came to ask the front desk to call us and let him up and the front desk wouldn't let him because of "guest safety" when our friend is ALSO A GUEST. We even called the front desk to let him up and the front desk refused to do so. Again, another instance of racial discrimination and assuming that our friend wasn't a guest at the hotel. These are just two of the many instances where we were met with rude behavior when we are paying guests at this location. For the price, it is absolutely not worth it.

My family (me, my wife and our 6-year old daughter) stayed 4 nights at the Sheraton Grand Rio and we cannot say enough wonderful things about the hotel. Yes, the location and the property itself are fantastic, but their REAL strength is their SERVICE and CUSTOMER CARE. Wow!!! Everyone working there, I mean EVERYONE, is always ready to assist the guests and ALWAYS with a friendly smile and attitude. Incredible! I give them an 11 out of 10!

Very friendly staff, super helpful and patient since our Portuguese is close to non existent. Everyone one was so helpful they accommodated a special request to decorate my daughters room with balloons for her birthday while we stepped out and we were over the moon with how they set up and even provided a cake and a small gift. From the lobby bar to the pool area place was clean, food was delicious. Every question was or concerns were immediately taken care of. Even setting up tours or cab was promptly taken care of. Had a great stay definitely where I’d stay again when I visit.

Absolutely beautiful! The property is stunning. Clean and comfy rooms as well. However, I will state that the restaurants were mediocre at best. Our power went out in the room one night and the hotel did not offer any resolution to accomodate the matter or compensation. The rooms next to us all had power so it was specifically our room only. This resort is on Leblon beach which is the least popular beach, however you get views from all angles such as the ocean, the city and the mountains. It is far from the nightlife, restaurants or popular beaches and if you are looking for convenience I wouldn't recommend this place. Also there was construction on the road to get into our hotel so traffic was a nightmare. The staff was very pleasant, resourceful and kind. They offer plenty of activites to do as well.

What a pleasant surprise! Great location with a private small beach, walkable/easy bike ride to Leblon and Ipanema, excellence in service, gorgeous setting surrounded by nature. The Sheraton in Rio can be rated “top location” and “worst location”. Its location is unique, no other hotel in Rio has a private beach and views like the Sheraton has, absolutely the best. However, it’s surrounded by a favela, you simply shall cannot walk anywhere, nowhere, from the hotel, due to its dangerous and high crime neighborhood. If you don’t mind catching a cab for just about everything, then I’m confident to say you won’t regret staying at the Sheraton

the hotel is located literally on the doorstep of the favela - at night it was nosy and dogs barking and very unsavoury persons were lurking. The area is unsafe and dark around the hotel and one cannot go for a stroll at all; the transportation is limited and one has to use Uber service - would not recommend as far from Leblon and Copacabana beach. The hotel has swimming pool but no entertainment or shopping facitlities.

Great location. Restaurants are good but service can be slow. Everyone who works there are really nice. Massages, salon and spa also very good. Can’t beat the beach right there. Can hear the waves crashing at all times. Do not pre pay for meals. Not worth since menu is limited. They do not offer the all inclusive option anymore.

Nice hotel however, they talked us into the upgrade for the executive level access, and it is not worth the money. The food is not good at all. Eggs smelled like Tuna. Not a good experience. Will not stay there again because of this.
