We had a very special day at the hotel to commemorate our anniversary and plan to do this annually now. It was a holiday weekend, but we decided to stay in town and had a great stay and plan return next year too. The staff were excellent and accommodating.

We had problems with the first room but they were quick to accommodate me to another room. There was no teacups or mug for the complementary coffee which was odd. But the most unfortunate thing: a lot of sex workers at the lobby in the evening throwing themselves at you at all times, apparently friends with the staff and collaborating on this.

Renaissance has normally been our go-to hotel in São Paulo, and in the past we have consistently rated it 5 stars. Unfortunately, this stay missed the mark by far. When we arrived, there was a used towel still hanging in the room, which made us question whether the room had been properly checked before our arrival. The room was also not cleaned during our short two-day stay. We called in the early afternoon to let the hotel know that the room had not been cleaned, but housekeeping was only sent at around 10 p.m., which was obviously too late and we refused the service. In addition, we ordered a dessert for our child and were told it was chocolate, but what arrived was a coffee-flavored dessert. These issues together made the experience feel well below the standard we usually expect from Renaissance. We hope this was an exception, but unfortunately we cannot give the hotel our usual 4.5/5-star review this time.
