The property was perfect for what we needed. My only suggestion is to have a laundrette on site so we would wash the clothes. I'm positive more travellers, especially with children would appreciate having one where they dont have to travel to.

Booked in to tiny room with broken fridge, light & curtains didn't shut properly so asked to change rooms which they did. No parking so had to park on the road & walk quite a way with a toddler & bags. Breakfast items needed topping up & took ages to replenish. Have stayed here many times but this time was the most stressful.

Free parking is a joke, absolute free for all, only option is multi storey that the staff do not know how to access. Restaurant was only doing pizza, so more like a microwave Pizza Hut. Clean hotel but not easy to access

The staff were very accommodating but the room was really tired and unclean. There was a lipstick mark in the net curtains, dirty mug in the tea / coffee offering and a couple of long hairs languishing in the shower. The foyer for the lift on my floor (6th) had a dented radiator and a huge dent in the gypsum wall adjacent. This made everything look even more dishevelled. NOT acceptable

Good central position although limited parking. My main concern was the housekeeping and general tiredness of the property. Must be due an overhaul. But the general cleanliness of the hotel particularly the room I stayed in was not good and requires an inspection. Decor was really tired.

Others have made the same comments on various review sites, but it seems management haven’t listened. The bed had no mattress protector and a thin sheet not even big enough to cover the bed so the mattress was exposed at the sides. There was sticky gunge on the bedside table, grime around the shower door, and a completely unscrewed hinge on the window which had been bodged up with a piece of wood.

There were a number of housekeeping gripes. Reception handled them all well and notified the appropriate people. Settee not clean enough to sit on. Shower needs deep clean. Shower door does not close fully so water on bathroom floor. Bathroom shaver socket not working. Facilities in room were fine and we had an ok stay.

We have previously stayed at the Wakefield Holiday Inn Express, since we visit our family locally. It has proven to form our base of stay, since we regard the hotel rooms to be extremely clean and comfortable (and quiet) and the breakfasts to be very comprehensive and wholesome. The overall welcome from the receptionist in checking in to that of checking out is exemplary. A great venue to stay !!

First it was very hard to find , don’t go off the pictures as the hotel and rooms are nothing like them , the hotel reception staff are very polite and welcoming I do feel for them , the building is old and not very clean there is a charge of £7 for overnight parking, the room I was on the top floor was big enough cleaned but could have been cleaner still bits and bobs on the carpet, kettle had water in it as did the iron , bathroom was clean plenty of towels all clean .bed very soft but you can exchange for a hard mattress, breakfast was bad not a lot of choice mostly cold and the toaster kept on having to be turned off as it was setting fire to the bread . One night stay for the money I paid was ok I suppose.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Bed was super soft but not that comfortable as in saggy. Curtains slightly loose just need 5 mins maintenance. Paid for on site parking. Staff made the stay. Top team.

Good bathroom lovely huge shower. Fab space in room not much clothes handing space at all. I had housekeeping every day but one day it was at 4pm and I was checking out the ne g day so asked not to have it but the option was there. Good location right in the city centre. But felt the room was a bit cold no atmosphere or warmth atmosphere wise. There was air conditioning which I had to request be put on in reception which was great because the room got very warm. All in all good value for a short trip.

whist the room was nice and clean, the bed mattress was not even fit for the skip super soft when we advise the reception who was non plus in the morning, they said we should have reported that night However, when we checked in we were told the hotels was very busy and as we went to out to eat and only found out how dead soft the mattress was at 10:30pm just had to make most of a bad night sleep situation

Booed in for two nights after staying a few weeks ago. Oh my God what a nightmare the room we were give so noisy 307 if you get it beware. Next morning spoke to the girl on reception dark hair couldn't be more helpful or polite changed our room immediately 304. Went out for the day came back tea time paid parking again for the night went up to room. Couldn't get in locked out went down to reception oh yeah there was an issue house keeping went in and no one should have been in there so they locked you out. Well they let us pay for parking take lift up to come back down !!!! Thanks severe lack of communication then we needed a bulb for the lamp at bedside we got this relatively easy. The room was freezing cold i mean cold we couldn't undress into pjs because it was cold. We had adjusted the heating in the morning for us going back in the evening house keeping turned it off. It wasn't even left at a comfortable temperature requested by law !!! So in comparison to our last stay it was disgraceful!!!! And we had recommended this to friends. The difference in staff attitude also speaks volumes.

Great location for central Wakefield. Literally couple of minutes walk to the heart of Wakefield. Got parked easily at the hotel.

The hotel was clean and up-to-date. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Parking available in a garage across the street which was reasonable. There were several restaurants and shops within walking distance.

Convenient for where I was going ( Venue 23 ) .. loads of bars around . Was a little noisy late at night .. didn’t bother me though. Breakfast wasn’t the best .. cheap ingredients … awful sausages !!

Hotel could do with a total update. Carpets filthy as were the chairs in the room and the bar area. Sofa in bar area had a filthy covering over it. Receptionist helpful on arrival. Pizza was the only offering for a meal. Breakfast was of a very poor quality. Would avoid this location and try other hotels

First it was very hard to find , don’t go off the pictures as the hotel and rooms are nothing like them , the hotel reception staff are very polite and welcoming I do feel for them , the building is old and not very clean there is a charge of £7 for overnight parking, the room I was on the top floor was big enough cleaned but could have been cleaner still bits and bobs on the carpet, kettle had water in it as did the iron , bathroom was clean plenty of towels all clean .bed very soft but you can exchange for a hard mattress, breakfast was bad not a lot of choice mostly cold and the toaster kept on having to be turned off as it was setting fire to the bread . One night stay for the money I paid was ok I suppose.

Cheap and cheerful, the bed was ridiculously soft and the extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work. Room was initially set up for 1 person (1 towel, glass, milk etc) and reception staff wouldn’t accept this to begin with, however we returned from a night out to find a mountain of towels and a dairy farm’s worth of milk. Good breakfast and cheerful staff. Would stay again.

Room and bathroom were clean but settee broken and unusable, bed wasn’t very comfortable even with mattress cover you could feel where previous people had indented. Staff were friendly, but at breakfast if a table wasn’t occupied it was filled with plates, most food was empty and coffee choices reduced (machine broken) not enough staff to clean, replenish etc, it basically felt they hadn’t planned for number of guests.

Free parking is a joke, absolute free for all, only option is multi storey that the staff do not know how to access. Restaurant was only doing pizza, so more like a microwave Pizza Hut. Clean hotel but not easy to access

Hotel location good , comfort ok too but very disappointed to be told no cooked breakfast as per was advertised free with stay, it would have been handy to be informed prior to turning up as I had already looked at the campanile who offered room £41 and cooked breakfast for two £18 plus free parking so making the stay cheaper for us . The breakfast we had was just cereal, toast and croissants so not a continental making the cost of stay NOT value for mkney

The shower in our room was dusgusting. Filthy and was in bad need of being fixed. The room was ok, nothing amazing. The bed was a double bed, and most other hotels offer a king as standard. The breakfast was ok, again nothing amazing. No option for vegetarians either, staff never approached us in the whole breakfast experience.

Everything was what we expected the staff on reception were wonderful. The room was clean and spacious, an ice cube tray in the freezer would have been nice but that’s a minor issue. Breakfast was lovely well cooked and good choice. Helga on reception makes you feel most welcome.

+: lovely staff at front desk. Air con in room. Nice design & layout of room. Free WiFi with no hassle to setup. Free buffet breakfast was surprisingly nice. -: possibly the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The carpets from lift to room door hadn’t been hoovered in a long time. The room was filthy. Lovely couch in room but I couldn’t go near it because it looked like it had never been hoovered before. Side of bed was visibly grim. Air con only worked with one temp setting (19 degrees cold), which was still decent because I could just turn it off if needed. The shower handle was gross and clearly never been wiped before. Water pressure quite low. Overall an OK stay but housekeeping need a talking to. Front desk & food side of things done a great job. Car park is small and costs £8 a night - at least it has one in a city centre. This hotel could be great if housekeeping got the Hoover & cloth out.
