Palazzo Guardi

The hotel is in a good location with an easy walk to transport. Our room was lovely, beds were comfortable and the canal view was pleasant. The staff serving breakfast were lovely and found us an iron and ironing board to use since the hotel doesn’t have an ironing room. My pet hate is the hairdryers attached to the wall that need more skill than I possess to style hair but that is common throughout Italy. Be aware that the reception is in a separate building a reasonable distance from the accomodation and you will need to carry your luggage up one or two flights of stairs. Aircon was fine and the windows open for fresh air although a little noisy during the day and early evening we didn’t spend much time there to bother and Venice is busy everywhere. There was a good tavern next door that had excellent seafood menu. It was recommended by the hotel we book a tour to Murano & Burano via them but we didn’t like the tight timeframes that herded us to one shop so we got off the tour and used public ferry which worked out way better since we could relax and explore more. Happy to recommend a stay at Palazzo Guardia

There was no heat or air conditioning. Nights are cool. We found a duvet in a cupboard. The location is very close to the grand canal, about 3 minutes to Accademia and excellent restaurants and coffee shops. There is NO elevator. Very bad for 2 almost 70 year olds each with a bad knee and I have a twisted pelvis. Neither of us should be carrying suitcases up and down stairs. NOT SECURE - The 24 hour front desk is located in another building so not helpful. Other guests kept leaving the front street door open & unlocked and with no staff around to check it, it’s hard to know if it was open all night or not. There was no secure lock on the guestroom door. Breakfast variety was good but the eggs were dried out and bacon burnt or undercooked, and as this is all I eat for me this meant no breakfast so we went elsewhere and bought. The last morning we had hoped for espresso or cappuccino before we left but again, there was no staff around to make it. And we had no idea where to find them. The junior suite was spacious as advertised. It was clean if not luxurious, but a secure lock would have allowed for better sleep. There was a safe in the room. The wifi signal was strong.
