Scottsdale Plaza Resort

Nice property but half the resort was under renovation. We didn’t find out until one week prior to arrival. No bar or restaurant available, one pool closed etc. Definitely changed the vibe. Looking forward to seeing it after the renovations are done.

Property was under construction. No amenities, restaurants, or service available. No communication from the hotel staff about the lack of amenities or service. Resort fees were still charged even though we had no access to anything from the resort.

Everything was under construction, being remodeled. Very loud at all times.

Terrible! Wake up to construction. Last time I stayed there was room service but because of all of the construction, there were no amenities available. You would think they would make up for it

We stayed 4 nights and had our room serviced after the first night, the trash and bedding were left in bags outside our room. My card was charged twice for our stay and I had to have that corrected. No one at front desk mentioned they were short staffed or under construction. No food other than grab and go on site.

The staff and area around the hotel are exceptional. I booked this hotel to relax and the kids had 5 advertised pools at the time I booked. A week before our trip from CT, I got an email through Expedia stating the hotel will be under renovation and essentially the whole place was closed. Just 1 pool (I wasn’t able to find the casita pool which was advertised as private). No spa. No restaurants. Since nothing was going on, we had to do lots of things off property. The rooms are very dated. It was clean but always a musty, dusty smell. Nothing was wowing. I was extremely disappointed considering this was supposed to be the best part of our trip. I have to check my email for my receipt because I was supposed to have the resort fees waived and I don’t think they were. It would have been nice to have notice prior to booking that construction was going on because I could have booked at our number 2 choice.

I was disappointed because I was made aware the day that I was checking in that the hotel was being remodeled and we only had access to one pool. they did upgrade our room but I would have cancelled as the smaller pool was crowded. The hotel trash bins were over flowing with trash, their were no towels for the pool.

Made the reservation and then received email the next day that the property was undergoing a major renovation. Would have been nice to know that in advance. Arrived and it looked like I had arrived at a construction site. The valet was abandoned. No bell service. One very nice lady manning the lobby and that was it. Restaurants closed Pool closed. No water in the room to drink. The only saving grace was that the room itself was actually very big and had a great shower. Definitely not a resort style stay. I wouldn't recommend this place until they complete renovations. Overall it was not a resort quality much more like a motel..

I’m writing to express my disappointment with our recent stay at your resort over the weekend, which we had booked to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We have visited your resort many times before and have always had great experiences, but unfortunately, this trip did not meet our expectations. Upon arrival, we were shocked to find that the resort was undergoing major construction. The main pool was closed, the bar and all the restaurants were not operating, and the gym was in poor condition and clearly not being maintained. We were not informed of any of this in advance. Had we known that these key amenities would be unavailable, we would have made different plans and stayed elsewhere. These facilities are a major reason we return to your resort, and their unavailability significantly impacted the quality of our stay. Despite the lack of amenities, we were still charged a daily resort fee, which we believe is inappropriate given the circumstances. We also spoke with several other guests during our stay who were issued refunds under similar complaints. Given the situation, we are requesting a refund for our stay, or at minimum, a full refund of the resort fees. We hope you will take this matter seriously and respond promptly. The first and only hotel where we checked in and actually left within the same hour to stay somewhere else. I booked a 2 night stay here and paid in full and unfortunately walked away with no refund at all... But the condition of the "resort" is far from what you see online. Yes, they are under construction, but the rooms are so dark, dated, and musty. I wanted to open the curtains to bring some light into the room and what I got was a layer of dust in my face as soon as the curtains moved. We were going to just stay for the one night and check out the next day and find elsewhere, but as soon as I pulled the blanket away from the bed and moved the pillow, a bug ran across the bed and that was what made us grab our bags and leave. There was no way I would feel comfortable sleeping in the bed for even the one night if I knew there would be bugs! We've stayed at many "resort type villas" over the years and this one was by far the worst one... There is no way this is a 4 star rated hotel. Again, this is my first time leaving a review like this but I want to warn others as what you see online is not what you get in person. Unfortunate we lost out on the money spent but at least we did not have any sort of bug or tick or cockroaches on us! My husband mentioned we should let the front end staff know we were leaving immediately but as all resorts and hotels are; once you've paid, there's no refunds; so what would be the point? This came across as a 1 star resort to us, not 4.

Beautiful property, clean spacious pools. Rooms were clean.

Property is not well Maintained. Trash cans around property overflowing with trash! Animals pick through trash after it is on the ground and staff leaves it on the ground. Trash in our room from past guest.

There were cockroaches all over my room. I even left some that I killed in a glass with a note for housekeeping to verify. I also have pictures I can send of multiple roaches in the room from each night I stayed. Happy to send the photos to you.

Cockroach in bathroom.

The rooms are very dark, even with the lights they have. Are wood shades was not working well and the bathroom barn door would not stay closed. Heads up to the people who need an elevator to get to the second floor there is no elevator so if you can’t handle bringing your luggage up or down ask for a first floor unit.

there was a lot of construction going on. the room was really dated. i think they should be more up front with what’s happening at the hotel and they shouldn’t charge so much for rooms that look shabby.

Ok where do I start, I had booked this hotel because of all the amenities that came with it plus the location and accessibility to the activities I wanted to do, I had a VERY hard time finding the hotel and lobby, once I finally found it I was handed a letter pretty much saying half the hotel is being torn down and everything has been moved around, and some of the pools were out of service. Information that’s important to know a head of time. The rooms a kinda hard to find and once I got into the hotel, it was clean but when I checked the bed there was no bottom sheet which was kinda weird but overall, tho this is a nice area I don’t think it was worth the price staying and charging resort fees.

Room smelled like sewer gas

at check in was fantastic as well as the bell hop who showed us to our room. Check in was quick and easy. The room is dated, I see why they are remodeling. It's very 90's. The grounds are pretty blah, very motel like. Our Casita had an adjoining door to an additional Casita and the people in it were loud and woke us up very early all weekend. The Casita pool was okay, hot though not refreshing. They did have plenty of towels, secured umbrellas, and decent lounge chairs. It was nice having the room close to the Casita so we could get our own food and drinks since things were closed due to the remodel.

The resort grounds are very well kept. The pool is advertised as heated but was not although they have a decent sized Jacuzzi so that helped. The rooms are dated/modern, meaning they made updates to a dated room so it’s better, but still dated. It could also be because the room gets very little natural light and has carpet. My room required all 7 lamps and lights to be on and it was still darker than most hotel rooms. The property is large and the doo have golf carts to get you around although my building was pretty close to both the pool and the restaurant. The restaurant serves burgers and bar type food which was ok. Over all the resort served its purpose it was close to all excursions we planned and it’s located in a beautiful area of Phoenix/Scottsdale, really beautiful. Views of the mountains and the beautiful homes were great to see. Also, restaurants and shopping is right across the street.

The room has bad smells. The heater was loud and no lighter for the fire place. We ask for the lighter and they provide us.

The rooms were incredibly dated and the walls were super thin, we could hear everything the people in the next room were talking about. We didn't use the pool so I can't speak about that. The gym was ok. Everything was clean and well maintained.

Please be aware that this hotel is in renovation and it does affect the general experience. The two-story rooms are very spacious and those in front of the pool make it a great plus. The hotel is a bit dated, so maybe it will be a very nice place after they are done with the renos

Restaurants and shopping close. Staff was awesome. Rooms very clean. Gym very nice and very clean. I would do another staycation with them.

The grounds are incredible. The rooms are wonderful. Kathy at the garden Café is superb as always. The surroundings are beautiful and the walkability is great. The staff at the front desk is horrible.

We had a wonderful week’s stay at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort! The grounds are beautiful, the staff friendly and accommodating, and our king suite was very comfortable. We highly recommend it and will look forward to staying again!

Absolutely delightful experience. I love the separate villas, especially the 2-story condo... what more could you ask for? The staff were incredibly helpful, kind, hospitable, etc. They are undergoing some construction upgrades/expansions but we literally did not hear a thing... quiet, serene, beautiful property.

I have stayed here many times over the past few years and my previous 2 stays were not pleasant namely my most recent stay last week. Staff was rude and not helpful. I had to move rooms twice just like I had to on my stay before my most recent trip due to issues with there only being hot water in the shower. After sending an email to management it took them almost a week to reply to me and barely addressing my dissatisfaction. They have lost me as a customer simple due to the lack of consideration with the multiple issues I experienced. FYI - I wasn't even looking for a refund or any type of credit. Too bad management couldn't be bothered.

Great location for local hiking, dining, and accommodations were spot on! They have something for everyone on the property!

The property was large (around 40 acres) and had a few choices for pools. Our room was very nice and quiet. Parking was easy. The area has plenty of shopping and dining options.

Pros • Multiple pools and a large, clean hot tub with plenty of seating • Pretty waterfall feature at the main pool—especially romantic when lit up at night • Ample golf cart rides available on request to get to rooms or the spa • Beautiful, well-maintained desert landscaping with palm trees, cacti, and colorful flowers • Excellent spa experience—massage therapists Hayden and Sid were outstanding • Beds were very comfortable with a generous supply of pillows • Thermostat and TVs were intuitive and easy to use • Complimentary shuttle service to Old Town Scottsdale and anywhere within a 15-minute radius • Charming private outdoor patio just outside our suite • Orange-infused water in the lobby was a nice touch • Property felt very safe throughout our stay • Very clean Neutral • Bath products were average—not luxurious but serviceable and well-scented • On-site food was fine; best items were the burger from the lunch/dinner menu and avocado toast for breakfast. Cons • The advertised pool bar and multiple dining/coffee options were misleading • No housekeeping refresh unless requested; had to ask for new towels after the first day • Long wait (45 minutes) for the return shuttle from town, despite the free service • Groundskeeping started before 8 AM near our room—mowers and blowers disrupted the morning • Front desk service was okay but not particularly warm or accommodating • Pesky grackles • No VIP perks offered or mentioned, even for Expedia Platinum members (disappointing)

Went there for a weekend get away. A staycation of sorts. We chose this hotel because they had a bar located on site. Arrived and the hotel was under construction. Bar was closed. A little disappointed. But the room was clean and staff was very nice.

The property was great! We enjoyed walking the grounds, the swimming pool and had great dinners at JD's.

Property is beautiful and amenities are great. Food and service at the Cabana Cafe could be better.
