Bay View Inn - Morro Bay

This was a nice motel close to the Embarcadero. Morro Rock is visible from the second story outdoor area. Nothing fancy but a mini frig and microwave are essential for me. No elevator so if you have limited mobility (I recently had a knee replacement), be sure the room you book is on the first floor. I had to downgrade from a King bed on the second floor to a Queen bed on the first floor but didn’t receive a refund because it was prepaid. Live and learn.

Weekend Getaway - my wife and I stayed at the Bay View Inn for two nights as an escape from the heat in the valley. First impression as we pulled in was it was clean, fresh looking exterior and the grounds were well manicured. The front office staff was nice and check-in was a breeze. Our room was clean and the view of the bay, though partially obstructed by the new construction across the street, was very nice. We would stay here again but unlikely to pay the higher fees for the view rooms. The good - location! Bay View is conveniently located in the middle of the bay. One block to restaurants, shops, and activities such as watercraft rental, tour excursions and bicycle rentals. We never drove to a single place during our stay. The not as good - the room decor is outdated and house keeping uses way too much Lysol when cleaning. The smell was overpowering and we had to sleep with the windows wide open the first night. The fridge is old and rusty on the inside and was super noisy and the sitting table had wobbly legs so bad that we were afraid to use it. The last item is the area at the base of the stairs in front of the ice machine. It smells of urine! Bad. We avoided the ice machine completely. Aside from that - it was the perfect place for our weekend getaway. We would stay here again for sure and would recommend the Bay View to friends and family.

Great service, fast check in. Room is big and nice. Amazing location. Close to everything. Pizza port is a 5 minute walk. Order online and walk there. Best pizza ever. I’ll be back. Get an ocean view. Balcony up top is so awesome just needs a fireplace and it would be perfect. Can’t wait for the next vacation.

Agree that the place is dated, but appears they are in a slow process of updating. Check in was easy, thought it unusual that front desk person wouldn’t take an empty water bottle, instead directed us to an outside dumpster. Went to room, not sure if it was because of an older stained carpet but wife thought the room had the odor of a cheap cologne. Bathroom shower was updated, but upon taking a shower realized soap dispenser was empty. We alerted front desk they apologized and corrected. Bathroom wall needs to be painted. A couple of the shutters were broken so they wouldn’t stay open. They did have a nice outdoor seating area, that wasn’t set up to use (chairs stacked, tables dirty). Will admit this place is perfectly located for walking to shops in the downtown area and to the Embarcadero.

Very easy check in process. Front desk person was extremely helpful. Clean room. Very quiet. Parking situation was not the best. We had to park across the street away from the hotel.

Second time staying here and it was nice. Though we did notice some stains on the sheets. We had our blanket which helped.

This has got to be the best hotel for the greatest price! And it’s a great area so close to the downtown area. And the rooms were the cleanest I have ever experienced EVER traveling. You can smell the cleanliness and feel it. I highly recommend coming here for your stay. They earned every star I gave them and many more! I love this place I will be coming here more often.

How this hotel received a rating over 8 I’ll never understand. We only intended to stay one night so it met our need but it was not a nice place for the night. The room was not clean, there was a dingy odor, and I didn’t even want to walk barefoot on the carpet. The bathroom was decent but the tub valve leaked all night. We had an early morning planned but were woken by the upstairs neighbors beginning their day in a very noisy fashion. It’s hard to find a nice hotel for a decent price, but we left very disappointed and will not be returning to this place.

The stay was okay for just one night. The staff was friendly, but the room had an odd smell and the bed sheets were not clean.

The location was perfect but bedside table was sticky and dirty. Air conditioner was very loud so we had to turn it off in order to sleep.

Close to the beach. Rooms are huge, but do smell a little musty. Comforter was dirty.

Overall the stay wasn’t horrible but could’ve been better for the price. The walls are very thin and you can hear the neighbors stomping around. And we were on the second floor.. goes to tell you how thin the walls are. There wasn’t really any amenities in the room besides a coffee maker and an ice bucket but couldn’t find the ice machine on the property. We paid for an ocean view and the blinds wouldn’t stay open for the “view” so that was disappointing. The bathroom was clean, the bed was stiff and had no fitted sheet. Strange, but it was clean with a loose sheet serving as the fitted sheet. It was a little pricey for what you got out of the experience.

Bay View Inn is a good value for a short stay in the Central Coast area. It is a motel-style property with thin walls, so there is a considerable amount of outside noise that makes it into the room -- seagulls, sea lions, your neighbors, etc. Beds were comfortable so the sleep was good in the end. My wife says the room furniture was situated poorly but our room did come with a fridge and microwave, so there's that. All in all, a solid operation with generous rooms for the price -- $477 total for 2 nights, king bed, oceanview.

Perfect location for walking around the touristy area as well as downtown. Clean, simple room. Comfortable bed, big TV, views of the bay. Excellent value.

Great location and view from the ocean view room! Could hear the sea lions from the room but not too loud to bother you. Quiet overall. Comfortable bed. Quick walk to the bay and to a nice local coffee and pastry shop. Not fancy but that was just fine in this rustic little town. Would stay again.

My partner and I came for business and pleasure. The room is clean and spacious. Good parking area, walking distance to store and foodie spots. The owner is very sweet. On our last day she came by our room to check in to see how our stay was and if there was anything we didn’t like. She was very sweet. When we come back to morro bay we are definitely booking here again

Enjoyable stay at Bay View for two adults and one child. Easy walk to numerous shops, restaurants and water activities. Room was clean, area was quiet at night. Smaller parking lot but accommodates enough for one car per room. Owner was very friendly and was able to extend our stay by another night without needing to switch rooms.

I was looking to get an email confirming my reservation but because I never received an email I thought the reservation didn't go through so I booked at another hotel in Morro Bay. When I checked my voicemail the morning of November 29th I had a message asking I was going to check in. It was then 9:30 pm when voicemail was left. I was still charged for the stay and have not been a to talk with a live agent

Reserved a room with a fireplace based on the available options. When arrived we were told that none of the rooms have a fireplace. Man in the office was not friendly.

Centrally located one block up from Embarcadero where all the food and shops are. Large room with a comfortable king size bed, microwave and mini fridge. There is a communal deck where you can sit and enjoy a perfect view of the bay and Morro rock.

We had a very nice King bed room with a bay view. However, the view is actually not very nice since the property across the street is currently under construction and the other properties around it are not very attractive. Yes, you can see the water, but what you mostly notice is how unattractive the rest of the view is.

Perfect location! Central to everything. Can go on Embarcadero or Morro Bay Blvd for food or shopping. It's a steep hill so you get a beautiful view of the rock as you walk down. Got the ocean view so had a beautiful breeze. There are overhead cables throughout town which is a bummer - I wish all cities were able to put their wires underground to keep the views clean. The screens were busted but wasn't an issue since the bugs are just on the sand. It's not fancy, but clean and well maintained. They have soap and conditioning shampoo dispensers attached to the wall by the sink and in the shower which I appreciate as I hate all the plastic packaging for bar soaps.

Cute little property for a great price. It has the basics with a view of the bay across the street. I would stay here again. Lots of great restaurants (mainly fresh seafood) and other businesses a few minutes' walk away.
