California Suites Hotel

Front desk employees are nice and helpful. I locked myself out, the gentleman at the front desk quickly issued me a new one one after I showed my ID and gave my room number. The grounds are beautiful with many different plants, trees & bushes. The pool & hot tub are clean & well maintained. The fountain needs to be shocked with chlorine as the water is green with growth on the bottom. Its relaxing sound adds a nice touch for guests to hear on that side of the large community. Top loading large capacity Speed Queen washers only $2.50 a load & 45 minute running dryers gave me plenty of time to dry a large load of clothes last night. This older community consisting of overnight hotel guests & monthly renters in which some have even furnished their rooms with their own furnishings. Vending machines are well stocked. The ice machine is located next to them & works well.

The place it looks not safe or uncomfortable to stay. The front door has a gap in between and easily to see people inside. Lots of noise especially when have people in the pool. No elevator that can use for luggages or suitcases, good thing there is available room on 1st flr otherwise no help to carry stuff. The gate at the back seems old and outside people easy to break in. Cannot sleep comfortably.

The grounds were planted like a resort. They had a hour water issue but had it serviced immediately. I upset the security by doing laundry too late because of the water issue. Oops! Sorry. If you love coffee they have a steady supply of it fresh. The rooms were very clean and we enjoyed the free parking and secure grounds.

I saw mixed reviews about this hotel but it was great!! The room came with a great mini fridge and microwave!! Also loved that it was right by the freeway. Only thing I really didn’t like was the parking lot, It could use some work. Don’t get me wrong there’s plenty of parking, but also lots of potholes that you have to maneuver around.

Property is a little hard to get into. Porte Cochere is small and not much room to park while checking in. Parking was tight. Coded gate is a plus to access rooms from parking. Seemed a relatively nice area of the city. Room was clean and generally in good repair. Might prefer a non-carpeted room. Staff very friendly. Not much food nearby. Only found one ice and vending machine near pool. Large property. Good for families. Pricing a plus compared to other places in the area. Middle of outer area of San Diego. Not near harbor or other city attractions. Roads can be confusing to get to SeaWorld, beaches, and USS Midway. Would probably stay there again if in San Diego.

Vending machines didn't work. Complimentary drinks where far away. Only ice machine was a ways away. A lot of construction workers stay with all their big trucks that take up parking.

Rooms were clean and neat as sown in picture. Friendly staff. Pool and Hot pool was clean and functioned- value addition to your stay. Location is amazing, nearby to so many good restaurants and places to visits. Love this place, will keep visiting this place again and again.

The hotel room was filthy the floor was sticky , there was someone’s hair in the bathroom, multiple unknown stains on ceiling , a cupboard door falling off and very old .

the bed was comfortable, and in general the room seemed clean but old, run down, and a bit grubby. I had a live cockroach in the towel/ soap roll on the edge of the tub, which I tried to catch but couldnt. He ran under the fridge. The hot tub was yellow and smelled like sulfur, my swim suit smelled horrible afterwards and i regret going in it. Staff were pleasant.

The rooms are clean

I realize this is a bargain hotel, but it's condition is terrible. The carpet appears to be 20 years old, and the furniture is dilapidated particle board. I could feel every spring in the mattress, and the odor in the room was unbearable. I won't make this mistake again.

Dirty. Dirty towels. Toilet seat was gross, had not been cleaned.

While the room was clean, all of the carpets were old and dirty -- halls and room.

Not sure how this gets over 7 stars on Expedia. There were multiple roaches in our room, the bathroom door did not close, the parking lot was littered with questionable characters, there was noise throughout the night. Not only would I not stay here again, I would not trust Expedia ratings again. Live and Learn.

I was super annoyed during our stay - dirty, housekeeping never came and cleaned our room when we requested it and then it was pretty dirty and things were breaking. Shower wasn’t great Beds not comfy Loud when moving around in bed. Wish I booked elsewhere !

Hotel is outdated. Friendly staff member. Price is reasonable. Bed is uncomfortable. Bathroom shower is low. Pool is clean. Overall, I would not return with my family.

The kitchenette was advertised, but there wasn't no cookware or silverware in the room! It wasn't advertised that it didn't come with said items either. If i had known, i would have brought my own.

I had a terrible sleep because the beds made such a horrible squeak noise every time I moved.

I liked the courtyard. The hotel room i had and the one i switched to were not renovated. They eaxh had a newer countertop & paint, the second one had a newer small refrigerator. The bathrooms both needed total renovations but had not been done on either & shower height would be good for womeon inder 5' tall.The staff was very nice and tried to accomodate my needs. Gate and pool codes shared by everyone. Cold hot tub. I would not stay here again snd would rate a star at best. Aduld bookstores amd strip clubs i the area did not make me feel comfortable either.

My stay was reliable and comfortable. The WiFi did not work too well but I did not need it.

The walls are paper thin. You can hear everything. I did feel unsafe just parking my car. The room was a nice size.

Liked the room and the pool. My only complaint is I booked a room with a stove, and no pots or pans or utensils were available!

my room faced the road, so i heard vehicles zoom by as the sped up to get onto the nearby freeway on-ramp. if it was quiet, experience would be so much better.

Friendly and courteous staff. My only problem was the inconsistent air conditioner -- off, then BLAST on, then off again. Now way to control it.

Terrible room. Air conditioner did not work. The refrigerator did not work. Traffic noise was extreme. One of the worst rooms I have ever stayed in. NEVER AGAIN!

The older woman in charge was absolutely rude. Like I’ve dealt with unfriendly staff before but she was just downright rude and arrogant and her attitude made me want to leave. The staff was nice and not the problem, just the older woman sitting up front. She had answered the phone early in the day when I was asking about check-in and was rude then. The property itself is very outdated and not comfortable. The beds were horrendous and the pillows, wow horrible. The AC was acting weird and would stop working then would make loud noises and come back on super slow like it was struggling, just a horrible night. The only thing my kids enjoyed was the pool. We came from a soccer event late at night, around 11:00 pm, and trying to come into the gate there was a herd of young males there blocking the gate entrance and had the gate wide open with a rock. Definitely did not feel safe at all. The parking got full so we had to park outside of the property. The road inside the property should get replaced it is so bad there are chunks of asphalt missing. All-in-all we won’t stay there again. The only reason I booked here was because the reviews said it was a good place to stay and typically I follow the reviews but unfortunately our experience was not good. Hopefully others will be. I want to note, we only stayed one night.

Least expensive room I could find in this San Diego area. Clean, comfortable, quiet. Microwave and fridge provided. No breakfast. Did provide coffee. Pool but didn't use it. AC and Internet provided. At checkin I was given a second floor room but complained I would have to lug my suitcase up all those stairs. She very graciously looked for a first story room for me and got me one. Happy.

Great service & great price. Easy check in & out. Staff is very professional and helpful! I had accidentally booked the wrong dates and they helped me and rebooked the correct days without a problem, which was very much appreciated!

Very impressed with my room, the property, and the staff. Not easy to find and experience like this for the price in San Diego.

The staff member that we were in contact with was extremely rude and unhelpful before checking in. There were random bags of garbage around the hotel, lots of things were broken and the pond was dirty and green. You get what you pay for but it would be worth paying a little more for a nicer stay.

California Suites hotel is a great location. It is conveniently closed to 805 freeway and many dining options are near by

We had a room on the second floor toward the front of the motel. He was noisy due to the traffic on the main street.

very easy place to stay overnight. probably would not stay here for more than one night as the area wasn’t the safest and there were a couple cleanliness issues/bed wasn’t the most comfortable.

Convenient to freeway

It is a great place to stay for vacation it is not too far from everything such as beaches and downtown. I did also have a car rental which helped but this location is in the middle of everything.

Great value for the price. Friendly staff, great location and affordable. Clean and quiet rooms - stayed in the back away from the main road. Nice landscaping.

The daily rate is great! The property is kind of old but it’s clean. Free coffee. 15 min to La Jolla cove, 15 min to downtown.

The staffs are friendly and helpful. Coffee and water are available in the lobby area from morning till night which is good. The location is convenient, close to freeway access, and there are many restaurants and shops nearby. The facility is old but with the good price and convenient location, it is a good choice.

Could have swore I seen something about breakfast when booking the room. All I saw was free coffee five to six toasters no bread anywhere I guess you have to bring your own bread.b.y.o.b.

I like that even though the hotel doesn’t provide breakfast, they have coffee in the lobby.

My family really enjoyed the hotel. It was clean. We had a kitchen with a fridge, kitchen sink, microwave, and stove top. There was a pool and jacuzzi. There was a lot of space to store our food and clothes and my son’s toys. And it’s such a great location near the freeway and near so many great restaurants.

The parking lot needs maintenance and the rooms are old my bathroom door didnt close well but the staff was nice and the room was clean. I would've appreciated coffee in the rooms instead of walking to the office.

The photos of the property are misleading. There is no breakfast served and the nearby restaurants close early. The property is old and needs to be updated. There was no sink in the bathroom. You have to use the sink in the kitchen area. The rate is appropriate for what you get. The staff is friendly.
