Spacious room. Comfortable beds. Beautiful landscape. Cons: carpet is very dirty, socks were black right away. Pool was closed. Restaurant was closed.

The renovated rooms like room 217 are terrific. The older in-renovated rooms not so good. Ask for a renovated room. The swimming pool is lovely.

Beautiful gardens and grounds. Very comfortable accommodations. Quality amenities, very good quality towels, excellent shower, AC works great in this hot weather. Friendly and welcoming staff. Guest computer and printer in the lobby. Lots of off street parking. Close to the restaurants,shops and Valley Strong Baseball Park downtown. Easy access to the freeway. The best place to stay in Visalia. Stayed here many time before and will again.

Great motel, easy parking, pool is not great

The only issue we had with our stay was being told the pool was not available at all. We had been looking forward to using the pool and wish that had been revealed beforehand

This place has an awesome old school 8 ft swimming pool. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is very friendly!

The a/c was not able to keep the room cool. No water pressure in the shower. Pool area was nicely lanscaped and perfect for dogs. The pool however looked pretty dirty.

Property was beautiful, rooms were clean and functional. The pool and restaurant were closed during our stay but didn't affect us too much anyway.

Beautiful updated room that was very clean and comfortable. Nice pool and grounds had a lovely garden atmosphere with an interesting variety of trees and plants. Great location for eating options. Great price point.

Dirtiest carpet I have ever seen

Very disappointed, floor was dirty, unfinished painting on walls, toilet dirty and lid off behind tank. I did take pictures!

I will never stay there again. The place was dirty, im taking gross dirty. Ants in the bathroom, my grandson walked across the carpet and the bottom of his socks were black. I have seen pig pens that were cleaner.

While the service and the exterior of the property was very nice, the room condition was terrible. The carpet was filthy the bath tub finish was very terrible as well as the sink area. While clean…this room 246 is in terrible repair. Towels and linens were clean.

The property was well maintained, and the room itself was fine, but the bed had bed bugs, which I did not discover until the next morning. It was completely disgusting and disappointing.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Lamp liter inn. It takes me back to a time when staying at a fine hotel was an experience you had with an outdoor courtyard and pool view. Totally 60s vibe. Our room was spacious and super clean and we had a great night sleep. The mattress felt new and the bedding was crisp clean and white. Same with the bath towels. I will definitely stay there again.

Our room looked as if a murder had happened in there. We looked past the dirty and dingy carpets only to find handprints on our comforter and a 12” long blood stain on the wall that was never cleaned up and still a darkened shade of red. As we began to look closer we noticed more but smaller blood stains scattered throughout the room. Within 15 minutes of checking in we checked out only to be told they would not reimburse us since we booked through Expedia. In which they also showed no concern or surprise even at the pictures I showed them of our crime scene of a room. Avoid this place at all costs. They don’t care about cleanliness or customer service. I wish I could add photos to this review as my description is no exaggeration and I’m potentially even being too nice and mellow about it. Makes sense now why the rates are so low.

The beds are old and creaky, sheets were dirty and you could hear neighbors all night long (some of them having sex).

No ac and no water pressure! My goodness this place was awful. It was so humid, and the desk worker said nothing disclosing the fact that there was no ac, as if no water pressure wasn’t enough, the shower quite literally STOPPED working. Do not stay here, I wouldn’t wish this place on my worst enemy.

The A/C was non existent and ceiling fan not functioning, so room was very warm. Water pressure and temperature fluctuated greatly while in shower. Beds were good. Grounds spectacular and pool was great. Nice location and quiet.

The biggest issue is the interconnecting doors between rooms. They may as well be made of paper. Nextdoor was smoking, which made our room stink of cigarettes. We could hear them clearly. Overall this ruined the stay. You can add on the noise at 7am from the grass adjoining the property being cut and the use of very loud blowers to move the cut grass. Probably nothing to do with the property or within their control. But very inconsiderate of whoever it was. Staff were friendly. Bed was comfortable.

The room was very outdated. It looked a little dirty even though it was cleaned. When we first walked in the room, it was a sauna. It took about 3 hours to get the room comfortable since the AC

Our room was quite warm. The overhead fan and lamp did not work and the air conditioning was struggling. This in 99 degree heat. The staff kindly offered us other rooms, but the air conditioning did not work there either. Otherwise nice enough. Pretty landscaping.

Unfortunately, it took about 10 minutes for anyone to come to the font desk to check us in and it wasn't even 8:30 p.m. yet. The channel on the tv could not be changed in our room. My son spotted cockroaches in the room and he woke up with a big bite on his neck from some sort of insect. This is the fourth time my daughter has stayed at the establishment and unfortunately we will not be coming back after this stay.

The property value was budget friendly , a bit outdated but clean and functional. The Staff was excellent at addressing my concerns and accommodation. There was a homeless man digging tru the dumpster the morning we were leaving but he didn’t bother us at all . I was feeling unwell from a previous stay at the beach and came down with a nasty cold . We were booked for 4 nights but I couldn’t go on any longer than the one night we stayed . We do plan to return to finish our trips plans in the future . The Manager was very nice about refunding our unused nights and that’s why we will be back .

The receptionist who checked me in talked me into paying for an additional day and he knew I had someone with me I wasn’t in the room for 5 min when he had come knocking on the door to tell me that she couldn’t stay then when I left to take her home and came back I was locked out then I’ve tried to get my $490 back or at least part of it all the staff get extremely rude with me and I’ve stayed there multiple times before

In the past has been very good. Under new management. Restaurant closed no notification (one of its draws). No maid service from Wed to Sun. Not towel changes had to go get our own. No trash pick up Wed-Sun. The two people who worked the front desk were very professional. You could tell they get and deal with a lot of complaints. Two roaches on bathroom counter on different days and several bugs in bathroom. Positive-the beds were clean and comfortable though we made them every morning.

Staff was nice, but management continued to interrupt the agent assisting us with check-in. The restaurant is closed next door. The windows need to be replaced in the bathroom, and a deep tile grout cleaning too. The carpet was stained in the sleeping area. We should have stayed at one of our membership Hotels for the price we paid.

Pro: The property has a pool and a beautiful flower garden. Cons: When we arrived the check-in clerk had her phone on speaker phone turned up all the way. At first we thought she may have been watching a movie. At least three times the "F" word was said and Mother F'er. Then she turned to it and said, "I am working". So, apparently she was on a call. There were two other couples in the lobby besides us. Very unprofessional. Then when we got to our room, there were 6 cigarette butts next to the welcome mat. I'm not sure why housekeeping didn't clean them up. There were several pubic hairs on the bathroom floor. Both bedspreads had stains on them that was . There was a stuffed chair that also had stains. The room was disgusting!

Check in was extremely slow. Granted, there was only one person there and I think they were on a bathroom break. Room - towels seemed nice. Carpet was so bad, almost wanted to cover my shoes. Add a dead roach in the middle. I'm guessing a vacuum cleaner hasn't seen this room in awhile. Will pay more next time for a cleaner hotel.

I really wanted to like our stay here. We were traveling on a budget with kids and I thought a basic hotel would be a good option for us. The grounds are beautiful. Well kept gardens and we liked the pool. Unfortunately we found the rooms to be hot, dingy, and dated. The ceiling fan didn’t work and the walkway smelled of cat pee (several feral cats are on the grounds. ) The restaurant is closed and there was no continental breakfast which is fine. It just meant we spent as little time as possible actually at the hotel. There were also several sketchy people hanging out in the parking lot at all hours. The stay wasn’t terrible but we wouldn’t stay here again.

Super cute lil spot. Only about 30-40 minute drive to Sequoia National Park. Would definitely stay here again. Nice location, close to shops. Looks vintage on the outside but nice and remodeled on the inside.

There was construction/DIY dust from the adjacent room on the carpet, coming from the connecting doors between the two rooms. Despite brushing it away it was there again when I returned to my room the next night (I’d left a “do not disturb” sign on the door, so it was nothing to do with housekeeping). Other than that everything was good. Very convenient for travel on the Sequoia shuttle.

Positive experience / stays several times over the years. Reasonably priced, fairly maintained, secure rooms; many with nice garden & pool views. I enjoy walking the 2 miles up Main St. to downtown (or a 5 minute drive). If you like old school, this Inn hits the mark. I hope the new operators continue their efforts to maintain & improve this landmark lodging.

Good central location. Facility a bit long in the tooth. Pool being drained and it was 95 degrees outside. Perfect swim weather. Many pieces of discarded furniture at the base of our stairs. But on the bright side I only saw one small roach in the room.

LAMP LITER INN SEEMS LIKE IT IS NOW A HOME FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE. WE WERE ACCOSTED ON THE GROUNDS BY MULTIPLE DIFFERENT HOMELESS PEOPLE WANTING SOMETHING FROM US.

The bar and grille that is advertised is closed. Also, the sliding glass doors are locked so that you cannot open them. The entire place is under construction, but this was not mentioned on the website. The railing in front of our guest room was too high so that our toddlers could have fallen through the bottom.

I booked two rooms for a Fathers day weekend including my son and my dad. The temperature was quite hot around 105 degrees. We had traveled 300 miles on motorcycles and were very excited to get to our rooms to cool off and shower. I asked what time the restaurant on site closed so we could get refreshed before we eat. Should have know there was a problem right away when I was told the restaurant has been closed for quite awhile, we cant get it off the website I specifically booked this hotel for the restaurant accommodations. The problems mount, the room my son and I were given had a dismantled AC unit on the floor. We immediately went back to check in. The front desk was very apologetic and switched my room. My dads room had not been cleaned towels trash and bedding on the floor. I went back to check in a asked for a different room for my dad. Again apologetic they gave him a very nice refurbished casita. My dad was quite pleased besides killing several cockroaches in the room. I now head to my new room. Its over 100 degrees in the room so we turn on the ac, no thermostat at all just high or low. I'm guessing a swamp cooler. The room stayed a very uncomfortable 85 degrees our entire stay, There were holes in the roof and walls. And the room was extremely dirty. The topper was the shady characters obviously on drugs hanging around the parking areas harassing us all weekend. Not to mention cars full of kids being dropped off to use the pool, obviously not guests.

Although restaurant was indicated in the hotel facilities, it was not available and under construction or being torn down. It was hard to say.

This hotel is under construction and should not rent rooms until the process is done. My room was dirty. There appeared to be blood on the curtains. The quilt in the NO SMOKE room had holes from cigarettes, marker, and the bed had little black specks in it. The dresser was missing a handle, and the shower floor was all cut up [which is not even legal in other states as it grows bacteria]. It was pretty outside, but there was also no vending machine of any kind for even water.

We stayed in this property in 2018, and it was delightful; big rooms, clean and comfy,beautiful gardens and pool, and a restaurant/bar. This visit was disappointing. The organization at the desk was a bit off. The room was a bit dilapidated, and the rug was utterly filthy. Walking on the rug made our feet black. We were told that there were new owners as of January 2023. I hope they intend to upgrade and clean their property, as the Inn has been such a lovely place to stay. The pool and gardens are very acceptable. No restaurant in operation at this time.

The Expedia info says restaurant and limited room service. The restaurant is closed and boarded up and there is no room service. It says housekeeping daily. They only did housekeeping every 3 days. I requested that they at least bring in towels daily and it did not happen. There were only 2 tiny trash cans in the room so the food trash was pretty gross after 3 days and the dumpsters were locked so we could not take it ourselves. I feel that due to all the misinformation a partial refund should be issued.

We picked the motel because it said breakfast was included and that there was a restaurant on property... neither was true! Carpet in room was stained... pillows were too soft & small... all else was satisfactory !
