We always stay at Hilton properties but this one wasn't clean (bathroom), smaller room than normal for a King. $30 for overnight parking is robbery. Coffee was pretty bad. Wont stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay the the Hotel Ballast Wilmington. We were in town for a One Tree Hill convention and this was the most convenient hotel we could have chose. The first day was a little hectic. I checked- in through the app, and my key was still not ready when we arrived. When we got to the hotel, I waited in a long line while ONE poor girl ran the front desk. Where was her help when all these people were checking in? We also didn't have room service for one day, but other than that great hospitality. We were able to walk to the convention center on the riverwalk. Super close to restaurants too. Our room we selected was the river view and it was gorgeous! There was some normal wear and tear in the hotel, a few things that could be updated. Our toilet roll dispenser was falling off the wall, and the toilet ran randomly. We used the gym on site and were able to get a great workout in. We had dinner at Sugo Italian Steakhouse and it was so delicious!! I definitely will be staying here again.

This hotel is in a perfect location. It is a big, beautiful building right on the Cape Fear River. They charge $25 per night for open lot self-serve parking with a gate. We made our reservation six months in advance and we are Hilton Honors members, so I was a little surprised to find out that our room on the seventh floor was the one closest to the elevator. Also, no refrigerator or microwave. Really? Our King room was pretty big and was comfortable enough. Not that fancy for this price range. Also, no complementary coffee in the lobby and no complementary breakfast. Really? We have been on the road for 22 days now and Ballast is the only hotel that did not provide complementary coffee and a refer and microwave. I raised these concerns with the manager and to be fair, he reduced my bill by $50 which seems about right. We would probably not visit Ballast again. Nor would we recommend it to our friends.

This place is rather dated and needs several upgrades in the rooms. The sinks are very shallow, no vanity space at. Needs new paint. Staff is friendly and very welcoming. Overall good location close to River walk, battle ship, downtown shops, and the convention center.
