Dahlonega Mountain Inn

First, front desk was pleasant checking in. It appeared she was on her way out when I checked in. The room was ok. About what I expected. Dated but clean. Thats where good ends. A hotel’s main job is providing a nice sleeping environment and security. Absolute fail on both. It appears the hotel might be primarily used by companies that do work on the road. Maybe construction, etc. One of these groups decided it would be ok to blast music until 3 am. Tried to call front desk to ask if they could send someone to quiet it down. Hotel phone in my room didnt work so I used my phone to call the hotel number. Person that answered spoke about 3 words of English but understood enough to say they had no presence at the hotel overnight so there was nothing they can do. Basically you’re on your own at night there. I called twice over 30 minutes to double check. To be clear, THERE ARE NO EMPLOYEES AT THE HOTEL OVERNIGHT. You have a problem, its on you to fix it. Outside is trashy. Beer cans/bottles, propane cookers, chairs outside of doors where the “guests” congregate. Should of known when I pulled up but was exhausted and needed a bed. Left even more tired than I was when I got there. Just a very unkempt place overall. I DO NOT recommend this place in any way.

The place is definitely dated and could use some clean up and touch ups. The website (and other places) mention continental breakfast, there isn’t one. I think that’s because there are numerous people living in the motel. The beds were comfortable, the showers and toilets clean and functioning, and the AC kept us nice and cold. The kids loved the pool and had fun jumping on the deep end. There is a McDonald’s right next door, so noise and smells were sometimes an issue. I also saw the police doing rounds through the parking lot, which was well lit. Also, there are cameras all around the outside, so we never felt unsafe.

The hotel was older but it is obvious that the owners are trying to keep everything up. The beds were rather uncomfortable, tub had a crack in the side of it, a couple of the power outlets were not working, minimal towels. It was Clean Though!!! I appreciate that! Clean outside when you pull in, quiet, nice little pool, McDonald’s was right next door, clean ice machine and laundry area. Staff was excellent to talk to and friendly!

I loved my stay in Dahlonega. I would love to go again someday.
