There was feces on the ground, coming up the steps to get to our room the room was really running down moldy bathroom no Accessories to kitchen There were bikes everywhere from people who lived there when we walked up our door was open already If someone else was in there, park had lots of pop holes OFFICE was open 11 to 7. It was a definite no for me. People hanging out doing drugs selling them as well

The laundry room was not available at all. There was no dishes, pots and pans, silverware available for purchase. Water kept getting cold in the shower. No shampoo or bath soap at check-in. Air conditioner/heater unit was loud. I have been staying at another Extended Stay America in Vernon Hills which was very nice compared to Home Studios Red Roof.

It was a bit odd that the office was closed and you have to call to contact someone. Other than that it wasnt to bad. They're clearly remodeling and have a lot of furniture outside on the blacony and by the stairs. If that were cleaned up the room would have a 4 overall

This was the worst stay I’ve ever had. Noisy until 3 am, lost a tire to debris in the parking lot, half functioning, smelled awful, poorly cleaned and no housekeeping.

The entire room was disgusting the plumbing was backed up and the kitchen was absolutely filthy you could obviously tell they don’t deep clean their rooms. My boyfriend and I couldn’t even sleep there because it was that dirty. I do not recommend

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. It is absolutely disgusting and not health standard compliant. We not only had hairs everywhere, bugs and CIGARETTE WHOLES in the blankets and chairs, but also found MOLD, GRIME and RUST in the "kitchen", toilet and tables. We also met some of the worst staff ever, they are not present at the front desk at any time, and actively avoided us and lied to us AND the EXPEDIA TEAM on the phone to not confront us about the refund. Please do not waste your time, money or health on this sorry excuse for a business, this type of incompetence is unreal.

Worst place to stay!!! People spitting over the balcony and empty food containers left out for God only knows why! The room was completely filthy. The sheet for the bed wasn’t even put on properly! The microwave was encrusted in old food. Black mold everywhere. Dead cockroaches stuck to walls and ceilings. The floor hadn’t been cleaned ever. Furniture was damaged and dirty. Heater/AC unit didn’t work properly. Curtains dirty. The place had never been cleaned. Do NOT stay here.

We requested a non smoking room with queen beds. The room had been heavily smoked in & the beds were not queen. The room was supposed to be ready by 3. It was not ready until after 4 pm. The room was dirty. There were people tweaking in the parking lot.

i didn’t even stay here. the outside was nice but once you got inside, it smelt like mold, the blankets were dirty and stained, the bathroom looked like there was dried blood in the shower. they refused to give me a refund.

My room was horrible!!! My floors weren't clean. Lights were out and not working. Heating/Cooling unit wasn't working. I spoke with the front desk and she told me that, the wind blew dirt in the room and that's why they were dirty. Maintenance wasn't working so, I couldn't get the Heating unit serviced. She gave me a blanket after being tired of me talking. Never again will I stay there nor recommend anyone to stay there.

Had I known that this place isn't staffed 24/7 I wouldn't have booked a stay here. Reminds me alot of Motel 6 and is more like an apartment a very expensive apartment. Front desk is only staffed 11 AM to 7 PM. That is a major inconvenience for late night check ins. Calling a 224 number upon arrival and have to wait for God knows how long to check in. We attempted to check in early and waited for almost an hour to do so. It ruined my experience and ended up getting to Six Flags later after 2pm. The room smells of cigarette smoke too and needs some serious updating and painting. Will not be staying here again.

The first room I was given didn't have a refrigerator. After waiting more than an hour to get a proper room - after which I had to struggle from one end of the property to another with a very bad luggage rack, I had to throw away about half of my food because it had been left out of refrigeration too long. Not once in the month I was there did anyone check on me; no housekeeping at all. The bugs and dirt that came in the door were unacceptable. The kitchen faucet was too big for the sink; hard to wash dishes without water spillage. The room was so dark in the area where light was needed the most - over the table - hurt my eyes with the strain. Other residents were too nosy - constantly looking in my windows to the point I had to put privacy film on them. The ac/heating unit blew directly on me where the table was; no option to move the table away from the unit. One employee - Chase?Chaise? - was decent. The rest... non-existent. Property used as homeless "shelter" - would not recommend for long-term travelers.

Room had no doorknob, no light in bathroom, toilet did not work. We will not and would not recommend anyone staying here. For the military base being close, you would think the staff and owners would have and take more pride in their property and buildings. They just did not care to fix problems at all or give us another room!!!!!!!

The images on the site were a little deceiving to the actual size of the rooms, the stove top at the location also functioned poorly as it would take upwards of an hour just to boil a pot of water.

“Booked” the “reservation” through Expedia only to find out they had no rooms available. What’s the point of booking a reservation, whether it was prepaid or not, if you can’t rely on the room being there’d that you wanted to make sure you had days/weeks earlier. Blessing in disguise though. Upon showing up, I wouldn’t have wanted to stay there. Not in good shape. Found a place much nicer and for about the same price.

Front desk is only staffed 11 AM to 7 PM. That is a major inconvenience for late night check ins. Calling a 224 number upon arrival and have to wait for God knows how long to check in. We attempted to check in early and waited for almost an hour to do so. It ruined my experience and ended up getting to Six Flags later after 2pm. The room smells of cigarette smoke too and needs some serious updating and painting. Will not be staying here again.

Had I known that this place isn't staffed 24/7 I wouldn't have booked a stay here. Reminds me alot of Motel 6 and is more like an apartment a very expensive apartment. There was no one at the front desk. The place looked abanded, I was not able to check in despite repeated calls to the number listed on front desk window I was not able to check in I did not stay at this location and I'm requesting a full refund AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I cancelled the stay within the time frame and the manager said I need to pay roof inn over 100.00. If this is how you do business i will not use this site and report this matter to the better business. Also the mgr was ruder.

To be clear, this is NOT a traditional hotel. It is an extended stay studio apartment style property. The front desk closes at 7:00 pm and is closed on Sunday. The manager was very nice and accommodating. This is a good place to sleep and take advantage of its proximity ti the Metra train station that gets yo cheaply into Chicago. Nothing is a safe walking distance from the place. Nearest restaurants and convenience stores are a mile away. Bed was comfortable. TV had about 30 standard cable and local channels. Nice fridge and microwave. There's a cooktop if you bring your own pots, pans, and utensils to use. So, NOT a traditional hotel, but a good place to rest after a day of sightseeing and enjoying Lake Michigan.

Unsafe, Criminal activity openly conducted in and around building, people walking through park clearly under influence, doira kicked in, garbage everywhere and people in line with "vouchers" to secure rooms. My children and I did not feel safe and were refused a refund. Both Expedia and Red Rood ARE aware of these issues which is why they list as "non-refundable". This listing is a fraud and a scam and doing business with Expedia, Red Roof Inns or any business entity that conducts and condones doing business this way; at the risk of consumers for profit should be referred to the Attorney General's office.

Please be warn, do not do business with Hotels.com. they have on there website a hotel that was roach infested, and when i tried to get a refund of my 300.00 they offered me a 40.00 one cash key. Their customer service was a -0, no relief at all. Been a member for over 10 yrs. Now I'm dealing directly with hotels myself. If they can't vet there hotels on their sites then its just a money grab for them and hotel. Oh by the way that was also used as a homeless shelter. When you can't even speak to someone in your own country and they direct you to someone in Egypt, you know your getting the run around.

We requested a non smoking room with queen beds. The room had been heavily smoked in & the beds were not queen. The room was supposed to be ready by 3. It was not ready until after 4 pm. The room was dirty. There were people tweaking in the parking lot.

Room was very dirty dead bugs all over the floor. Bathroom light didn’t work no towels in bathroom. Water coming up from bathroom floor. Room floors dirty I wouldn’t take my shoes off to walk on the floor. Room smelled of smoke and dirt yet non smoking room.

This is the worst place I have ever stayed in. It’s completely broken down, including the parking lot. The door to reception is locked after 7PM so you have to call a phone number to get someone if you need anything, and my room key had two different numbers on them which weren’t even indicative of the room I was in. The deposit a $100, which is more than twice as much for hotels like the Hilton! The room was not temperature-controlled and I could taste the smell of bleach and musty cigarettes after just a few minutes in the room. Do NOT stay here. It’s also not easy to get to! Long story short, I left. I couldn’t even check out properly because the door to reception was locked so had to put my key in the crack of the door. Awful.
