Best Western Benton Harbor – St. Joseph

Little outdated building,but very clean ,comfortable beds .Very nice heated outdoor pool.

Very disappointed that the pool and hot tub were both closed, but there was no notification of this ahead of time, at check-in, or even a sign on the unlocked pool doors. We walked into the pool room and felt the water was freezing cold before realizing we could not use these amenities. Online this location was listed as having spa tub and both a seasonal outdoor pool and an indoor pool.

The hotel indicates they have EV charging, which was not working upon arrival. We chose this hotel for bag service and would not have stayed here otherwise.

Room had a foul odor. Room carpet was filthy. Pool was dirty, found a bloody band-aid in the jacuzzi. Towels were limited and not replenished after asking 3 times.

Main reason i booked was car charger, did not work. Had to waist my time charging at public charging.

Parking was plentiful, The check in was smooth. The staff efficient and pleasant. The lobby clean. The kitchenette / dining area very tidy. The luggage carts however were unstable on the hanging rods. The pool area fine but water full of bugs. And leaves. Sort of normal I guess. However, the exterior was a work in progress. Walls and paint scraped as if for repainting and repairs never finished. The effect was the place felt shabby. The complimentary breakfast options were plentiful and the food actually tasty, but the layout and flow was very awkward … the plates and cups were in the middle of everything instead of at an end. The staff member was tidy and efficient, and smiling. Very pleasant gentleman who deserved better than the brat who repeatedly spilled cereal, with no intervention from parents. The only truly unfortunate thing was the condition of the floors. I took my shoes off, in the room, and within minutes the soles of my feet were black. Then same with my slippers. I ended up washing the bathroom counter top to get rid of thick dust on the backsplash, and then the bathroom floor with cleaner I always carry. The rag I used was black when I was done. Not even multiple rinsing with shampoo helped. And we discovered something was wrong with the faucet. EVERY time we used it, the countertop flooded with a puddle… despite being very careful about turning it off. People get high marks, facility needs work.

Overall our stay was good. Clean hotel for the age of it. Quiet. Large hotel! Hot tub could use a better regular cleaning but it was a nice added touch. The indoor outdoor pool area was nice and enclosed. Only complaint i have is upon checkout, check your folio receipt! They overcharged me by $600!

Bathroom floors had gunk on them and were sticky and the shower door looked like it had not been cleaned. Bedding was stained and dirty. It was fine for one night but definitely not clean enough.

Bedbugs were found under the covers in the beds in our room

Came home with a cough likely from the black and yellow mold on the shower ceiling. Terrible health condition and the fan in the bathroom wasn’t properly vented so we inhaled it for 2 days.

Honestly the MOST disgusting hotel I’ve ever been to in my life. Will never use best western or Expedia again. 0/10!!!!! DONT STAY HERE! Unfortunately it was too late for me to get my money back, needed an entire pack of bleach wipes to wipe the entire room, half of the wipes were brown/black. Gross.

This hotel is perfectly placed near shopping, restaurants and things to do. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff was nice as well.

There was hair in the shower , not ours They didn’t have pool towels and wanted us to use our shower towels There was a sticky, wet spot on the floor as soon as we walked in the room

The bathroom was very dirty, the bed wasuncomfortable, the desk chair was broken, and the desk drawer was also broken.

It was clean BUT the bed was extremely HIGH. I could hardly climb up, & I'm not a child, & was terrified to go to the bathroom in the night. The BATHROOM was another intereresting experience! This hotel has been OUTFITTED with TOILETS from a PRESSCHOOL. Never before have I seen such low & small toilets! We were so ASTOUNDED by these things but exhausted from a long day & had no desire to change rooms - who knows what calamity we'd see next. We travel frequently but Never will we stay here again. If they have clients for this kind of setup, they should identify them. I'm. not sending pics because you wouldn't believe a hotel such as this would have. these elements. This scared us so much we now insist on seeing. the room prior to paying for it. You should too.

Hotel in good condition. beds comfortable

Staff checkin was good. The bed was uncomfortable, air conditioner in room was loud so I couldn’t sleep. Awkward bathroom setup.

TV had 17 channels only, all except 2 channels were News. They were unable to fix TV’s.

There was no soap in the public bathrooms, which was disappointing. The room was spacious, yet had an antiquated feel due to the decor.

On going problems with tv remote.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a guy with a friendly smile and welcoming us to the best western. The hotel was pretty nice and quiet for our 1 night stay. We’ve previously booked at this hotel and it’s always a great experience. Checking out a lady was super sweet and made sure to ask how our stay was. Would recommend staying here :)

The pool was nice; the hot tub was luke warm however. The place is old but good for the price. The AC in the riomroom sounded like a generator. It was awful.

The room smelled terrible, as if someone smoked cigarettes in it, which was weird because it is a no-smoking hotel. I was with my teenage daughter, so it was undesirable. We were only there for one night, and I am not a complainer, so we dealt with it. The cable/TV was old and very difficult to use. We couldn't access the guide unless we turned the TV off first, then once we turned it back on, the guide would come on, and we had to memorize the channel we wanted because once we chose the channel, we could not access the guide again unless we turned the TV off. There were people outside our hotel room throwing a ball and hitting our wall, which was annoying. The man at one point started listening to loud music and dancing and "rapping" in the parking lot right outside our window, and this lasted for about an hour.

There was a lot of road noise.

The staff was horrible. My husband has a hard time walking and they put us in the farthest wing. I ask if there was something closer and thy said no that I have to pay 70$ more. When I went online a closer room was only 2$ difference. That’s all she done was on her phone and ignored everything else. I asked if there were any spoons or forks and she said they were in the kitchen but when I got there there was nothing. She said she can’t help me. I’ll see how breakfast is tomorrow but the rudest behavior was done already. Would not recommend.

Called Friday to let them know we'd be late. Arrived at 3:30am Saturday and was given a room with someone in it. They even tried to manually get us in the room, angering the person in the room already. So that was embarrassing. Then Saturday afternoon I get a call while I'm out that all of our stuff had been moved out of our room by accident but that it would be returned. We got back a later and none of our stuff was in our room. After they finally got it all returned, the rest of the trip was alright. However, someone smoked in our room before us and we were told it would get clarified, but I think they just sprayed febreeze. So the bathroom and room smelled terrible all weekend. The bed was comfy. It was a beyond stressful experience on my birthday trip. Not sure if I'd stay here again considering I spent almost $700 anyways and had no one make any attempt to reconcile the absolute mess I was put through. I spent the entire weekend worried that we'd come back to an emptied room again.

Check-in process was great. Lots of breakfast options. Excellent service at the front desk and at breakfast.

Evening staff was not particularly friendly, kind of looked annoyed when our keys suddenly stopped working. Overall the property is pretty run down and outdated, I expected a little more from a Best Western. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.

The staff was very accommodating to us as we had just been in an auto accident. Very kind people.

Lori was especially helpful and kind. She even helped me get questions answered regarding our next stop (Chicago). Our room and experience were much better here than at the Hilton in Chicago. She also recommended the beach which was our favorite part of the multi-state trip. Thanks Lori!!

The area was a bit sketchy as there doesn't seem to be a whole lot in the area. There aren't many restaurants either. A plaza with a Big Lots, Harbor Freight etc. in front of hotel and then a Walmart nearby which was nice. The Cinema is 5 minutes away which was a bonus. Stayed for three nights.The room was fine for what we needed which was just sleep and shower. Definitely signs of age (wear and tear) the mini freezer/fridge and microwave was good. The pool was nice with an indoor/outdoor option via a swim-through passageway. Also had a hot tub. The pool did look like it needed to be super shocked. It did rain/thunderstorm two of the three nights we were there so that could have been it. Overall the stay was pleasant and served its purpose.

Nice place for the price. Right off of 94, which was admittedly noisy. But inside the hotel, very quiet. Nice beds. Easy parking. I'd stay again.

About 12 min from St Joe beaches! Staff was very friendly especially the breakfast staff. Beds were comfrotable. Pool wasn't heated but kids didnt mind. Good, cheap stay close to goregous beaches and the best pizza place (Silver Beach Pizza) Azul mexican restaurant is great too!

this property has the best location, easy access to a variety of restaurants, easy parking, right off the interstate 94. The breakfast is a little spartan, make your own waffles, various cereals, coffee, tea but no eggs or sides.

The fan in the bathroom is really loud. The breakfast was good. Staffs are friendly.

Breakfast could have been better. They ran out of eggs and juice machine was broke but they had jugs of juice and milk.

While it’s not a 5 star hotel, I gave it 5 stars because for what it is, it deserves 5 stars. It has everything you want in a short stay motel. It’s well appointed, neat and clean. The rooms were up to date, clean and well appointed. The pool was clean and convenient. The spa was hot and the bunker worked flawlessly. The free breakfast had hot food and variety. The staff is friendly. What more can you ask?

Great experience. Rooms were nice and breakfast buffet was perfect. Hats off to the 2 individuals that were working it.

Hot tub was good. Breakfast sucked, no coffee had to ask staff just standing around. Sore back in the motning.

The hotel needs a major update. Our room seemed to be clean, but the tiles on the floor of the bathroom looked dirty. The bed squeaked when we sat on it. The sofa needs to be replaced in that room. It looked dirty and was old and sagged. The breakfast was okay, but there was only one attendant in the breakfast room, and he could not keep up with the traffic. Multiple things ran out, and he just could not keep up being the only person. All in all, a disappointing stay.
