Colts Neck Inn Hotel

All of the staff were friendly and most helpful when occasions arose. The hotel has a long and interesting history. Its indoor environment was cozy, relaxed, and home like. Outside, there were many places to sit with others or by oneself, lots of shade too. A great restaurant adjacent to the property. I liked that the facility had a 'workout' room which I used daily. State parks are nearby for hiking, history, picnicking, or just enjoying being outdoors. So happy I found this hotel.

Very pleased with hotel, room, service and location. Extremely dog friendly place to stay, area to take pup to go potty. Room big, bed comfy, downfall big bowls dum dum lollipops lol yummy. Free continental breakfast. Would highly recommend. Will use again for sure.

I love the spacious room, the low music in the hallways, and the welcoming touches - 24 hours coffee and cookies?!? The only thing to make it better would be a small variety of tea.

I was overwhelmed by the fact I didn't see any roaches or any other insects! The whole staff was gr8. Easy to park, pet friendly & room didn’t have an animal aroma or cigarette smell. I liked the vibe of there theme with the Bed & Breakfast feel. I would most definitely stay there again if in that part of New Jersey.

Hotel had the personal touch such as bottled water and flowers in room, good service, pleasant environment and a non-chain. Building was from 1717, which is pretty cool, but you would never know it going by the room which was spacious with plenty of amenities. Free continental breakfast and dogs being allowed is a plus. When in that area again (which I am at times), I'll now know the best place to stay.

Our checkin was made very easy by Remy. We had prepaid several months ago as we were attending an event in the area. Remy made it very easy for us by having the keys all ready. He told us about the Wi-Fi in the hotel (which was super fast) and some local eateries. We had planned on walking to the nearest one but Remy informed us there were no no sidewalks so we drove instead. Good advice since it was so close to the highway. They have a continenatl breakfast but there were many choices. Waffles, breads and bagels as well as cereals and yogurt. 24 hour coffee station in the lobby- with cookies!! Very clean breakfast area. Room was clean and quiet as well. Good choice for an overnight stay. Historic area that we would like to explore in the future-we're history buffs.

Or second time here. It’s always quiet, safe, and the rooms are very big. It’s a bit outdated, similar to a B&B. Several rooms have large 2-person hot tubs. The steakhouse Nextdoor is very good. Also, the diner and Rook Coffee across the street are good as well.

Colt's Neck Inn was great! It has a very homey, welcoming feel, with a gas fireplace in the high ceilinged entrance hall, beautiful plants on the porch and old school dark wood trim. The free bike "rentals" is a great perk too!

The room was clean. Pros- bed is comfortable, faux wood floor better than carpets, clean room. Cons-Door to outside was ajar, broken railing in the back, cluttered room and dirty door to back entrance, grounds need updating. Could hear family who checked in late next door, and someone talking outside my room about midnight.

Although this an old historic building, the entrance hallway by ice maker in back was horribly unkept and unclean. At 1045 pm there were guests so loud on front porch I could hear in my room. I called front desk to say isn’t there a noise ordinance cut off. Oh I don’t know I guess so I said please tell them it’s too late to be so loud. It took a half hour more then it was ok. The water in bathroom had a sulphur smell. I would not use to wash. The continental breakfast had not one piece of fruit. Only breads

The room was very clean and cozy. The staff was delightful and welcoming. A wonderful place to stay. The beds were very comfortable.

Toilet broken would not shut off. AC did not work at all. There were bugs both stinky bugs and lady bugs.

Ants in bathroom

There was Mold in the bathroom. My daughter is highly allergic and she had a severe nosebleed. Staff was understanding but we had to seek another hotel. Our stay was for two nights. We could only find a hotel that cost more money. We were given a refund of $241.00. We still had to pay $52.00. This is most unfair. We should receive the full refund. We did not sleep there. Please get back to me

Nice property but it’s old. Street noise in room was terrible. Window air conditioner. Decent breakfast. A little over priced for me. Otherwise a nice place.

Not sure how this hotel earned a 9 out of 10 on Expedia. The Inn has seen better days. It looks worn out in several areas. Our room was large, clean (except with stained carpet) and had a window air conditioner which was very noisy. In addition, we could hear people walking back and forth on the floor above us. The place could use some love!

The boggest issue was that apparently during the winter/colder months it is not possible to cool the rooms. Even when the thermostat was turned to maximum cool only hot air came out. The front desk suggested I open the non-screened window. lol.

This is a cute little hotel! Not perfect, but still good value. Our family of 4 (2 teenagers) rented the family suite for a night. The room was a nice size with good space and was very clean! There were 3 beds and a trundle, which was plenty of sleeping space for us. The bed my husband and I slept on was not comfortable, though, and was noisy when you moved, so we didn't sleep well. The kids said that their beds were uncomfortable, as well, so luckily it was only for one night. There was a table and a small armchair. A chair for the table would be nice. There was a toddler-size table and chair and a chalkboard wall, which even my teens enjoyed! The mini fridge and microwave are nice to have, and there's a large tv with cable. The window a/c is not quiet powerful enough for the space and it was still too warm. The bathroom doorknob needs repair, as it was falling off and we were afraid to lock it. I liked the shower stall and it had great water pressure, but it leaked a lot, so we had to keep towels on the floor along the whole bottom. The hotel was pretty quiet, which I appreciated, and was very clean! The staff that we interacted with were very pleasant and friendly. The breakfast options were limited (bagels, toast, eggos, cereal, yogurt, bananas, apples, coffee, and orange juice) but it was okay for a free breakfast. The loaner bikes are a nice touch, as the area around the inn would be a nice place for a bike ride. Overall, we liked it. A few room updates would help!

Older establishment. Warm and friendly. Lots of personal touches…rose in room. Noisy at night as rooms not sound proofed and freeways around whole property. Beautiful area.

Room was on the second floor but the road noise was absurd. Room has a window-mounted AC/heat unit that seemed to let a lot of noise through. The same unit had to be turned off because it would come on for a cycle for less than 20 seconds at a time, and it wasn’t quiet. The room was clean, though the carpet looked pretty poor. Breakfast was sad. I went down 45 minutes before the end to find one plain bagel remaining and some English Muffins. Really? Price for the stay was decent compared to other places within a large area. Just not sure I could stay here again based on the noise level.

The room and jetted tub were beautiful and so large. Very clean. The bed was so comfortable. One small issue, get rid of the small round wobbly table in the breakfast room. I put down two cups of coffee and then put my hand on the table, coffee everywhere.

It was just time for me to be alone. My first night was on the highway side and it was VERY loud. I requested to be moved and they gave me another room which was much more quiet

Staff at the front desk are amazing!

Karen at the front desk was welcoming. The glass of wine, a welcome surprise after 4.5 hours in traffic. 2 bottles of Water in the room, what a concept, all places should do that! Made it easy to relax. The rose in the vase was another nice touch. I would stay here again when in the area.

One person can really affect the rating. The lady who checked us in on 5/20 was phenomenal. She gave us a warm greeting and was very pleasant. We loved the atmosphere of the hotel, our room, and all the hotel staff we encountered. We felt like we were at home. All that changed early the next morning around 5 am when I work working in the common area so I wouldn't wake my daughter. The lady behind the front desk started to clean the area where I was sitting. She said "I need to clean." Not even an "excuse me" or "I'll only be 10 minutes". It was like she was talking to one of her kids. When I asked her if I could move to another table in the area, she responded with a sarcastic "really." Yes, really. She had at least a 400 square foot area with at least 4 tables that she could have worked around but that would have been too much of an inconvenience for her or delayed her getting back to the receptionist area to work on her knitting. I thought I found a very affordable and clean hotel to stay at while my daughter is attending school in the area for the next 3 years, but I don't need to deal with someone with such a pathetic attitude.

The Colts Neck Inn is surrounded by nature. It is a quaint and charming property. My husband and I stay here when we come to NJ. This last time, we were here to celebrate my 60th birthday. I checked in and was immediately uograded to the King suite. It was amazing. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed.

Our initial check in was great. On our third night a small child was staying above us we were kept up till 1 am and early at 6 am because of the child running upstairs. We called the front desk and were blown off the woman stated they just moved in. So from 10:30 pm until after 1:30am we were awake listening to the child run and jump around the room. Again on the second night of their stay they sounded like they were coming through the ceiling at 11 pm The woman at the front desk had an attitude when I brought it to her attention and absolutely nothing was done. We endured this for 3 nights of our stay not a lot of sleep at all. We also traveled with a 3 year old and obeyed the quiet hours. Although our room was made up everyday not once did they vacuum or sweep and they were bad about emptying trash. Overall the room was ok. The woman we had on check in was very nice but the other two we had contact with were very rude and unhelpful and overall unpleasant.

For the price, it's difficult to find a comparable hotel in NJ. But there are tradeoffs. It's not really near anything other than Delicious Orchards and the local horse and golf attractions. So it's nice and safe, but also not many and only local stores and food places. A good rural selection, but 20+ minutes curvy driving for fast food or groceries. I think it's the farthest you can get from a chain restaurant in NJ. The staff is the right balance of helpful and disinterested, at least for me. This means they may forget an issue, but also aren't going to hassle you. The rooms are tidy and well cleaned. Because the building is historic, many items are not upgraded. This is great for beautiful vintage bathrooms, bad for windows that don't really close or frighteningly patched ceilings. Bugs from outside (ants, carpenter ants, spiders, beetles, ladybugs) will easily get inside, but it's more because of the outdoorsy location and old building. No biting bugs or other pests seen over several summer stays. Rt 34 can be loud. Nothing to do. It's a fire response route, so at least one calamitous siren affair a day. But the only noises you'll hear from within the hotel are other doors opening and closing. Breakfast is continental. It's just fine, though they need new/additional toasters. Coffee, yogurt, bagels, cereal, apples. The breakfast room is cute and available for recreation. Gorgeous lobby, with coffee, cookies, lollipops. But the well water needs treatment!

This property has a bed and breakfast vibe and has decent amenities. It's my home away from home to relax. It is close to dining, shopping, recreation and major highways.

This is a quaint mainstay of the Jersey shore area, located inland in what used to be horse country. The staff was very nice, the room pretty nice (showing its age a bit), and the grounds were welcoming. They feed a couple of feral cats at the front of the inn, so you may see them during your visit. All things being equal, if you want a place that has historic charm, the Colts Neck Inn is a good choice.

This is a really nice alternative to the local Hampton inn or courtyard. It is a homey older inn with charm and comfort. While dated, it is clean and charming. Request a room away from rt. 34 for a quiet room.

A wonderful stay! The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was good. I enjoyed the atmosphere and decor. Close to the Asbury Park boardwalk

The room size was great. Unfortunately, there was construction scaffolding outside the window and the workers were working on Saturday. We weren't told about this prior to or during check-in.I wouldn't have paid full price if I had known that. The continental breakfast is nothing more than ciffee, juice, toaster waffles, cereal and bagels. Nothing hit but the coffee which was good because they have real half and half.

Nice historic place with a good vibe. While a bit dated still clean and tidy. Good steak house on property. The included breakfast is a real disappointment—basically a few kinds of bread, butter, jam, orange juice, some granola, coffee (which I don’t drink), and no tea. Other than that still nice and pleasant.

We were looking for a reasonable hotel with a basic breakfast. I found this hotel online, and it looked too good to be true. We were pleasantly surprised and will come back again. I would suggest a little more for breakfast, like muffins.

Lovely happy staff. Very clean rooms. Comfy beds with crisp white sheets. Breakfast is plentiful with fresh bagels. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed 3 nights for a family event in the area. The staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was quaint and fun. Our room was fine, bathroom was fine. Loved the happy hour wine and sweets. There were soft chairs and sofas and books and cute posters everywhere. The breakfast was standard continental with bagels, english muffins, eggo waffles, yogurt, brewed coffee and juice, and some fruit. There was no water available except the poland spring jugs they used for the keurig at reception. The reception had a 24 hour keurig, which was nice. There are lots of restaurants nearby.

Property is charming. Could use a bit of restoration, but totally comfortable. Breakfast is truly continental in style, cereal and toast-able items, nothing hot. Fills the bill but alittle disappointing.
