Perfect location to explore Santa Fe. The lobby bar was perfect for a quick bite and the restaurant was beautiful. If you want to go to the bell tower bar for sunset, go early it fills up.

Clean. Quick response from concierge. Convenient location! Friendly staff. Shower products are sulfate paraben free/clean products! A bit loud as our rooms were near some of the convention center rooms. Fitness center is small.

Expedia needs to make it plainer about the $30/day parking fee. Had we known, we would have not chosen this property. And La Fonda rents out parking spaces to non-guests. We left the parking deck to go out to Bandelier only to find no parking available when we returned. We circled the deck waiting for someone to leave. A space opened up, but unfortunately our car was damaged as we tried to squeeze beside a pole. We now have a $2000 bill to repair our car. The staff was not very sympathetic. There was nowhere nearby to park because of an event on the plaza, so we left a night early. The least that could be done is to refund the night we left early. A hotel with onsite parking should not rent out spaces to non-guests leaving the paying guests with nowhere to park.

I stayed one night at La Fonda during a recent visit to Santa Fe. I arrived late and was quickly checked in by the front desk staff. The king bed room was comfortable, a decent size but certainly not huge. I was impressed by the modern quality of the bathroom and all the appliances. The hotel swimming pool was a lovely temperature and I enjoyed soaking in the hot tub as well. This is a classic hotel right in the heart of downtown and is full of interesting rooms and spaces as well as a variety of bars and restaurants. Santa Fe has some great hotels and this is definitely one of them.

All aspects were satisfactory. Unfortunately, we were unable to access the rooftop to enjoy the sunset, which was a key factor in our decision to stay there. The rooftop is currently undergoing renovations, despite no prior mention of this online.

The real draw of this place is its location right by the plaza, the restaurants/bars on site, the historic architecture, and the art. The room was mostly clean and in good condition (some hair in the shower and a burnt out light bulb). I do wish they would do away with those throw pillows- we all know they don't get cleaned, and that guests toss them on the floor... then housekeeping puts them right against the pillows you put your face on. I did have a loud couple fighting in the room next to me the first night. I did call down and they said they'd send someone up to talk to them. However, I didn't hear that. I did hear the couple continue to argue loudly. The walls are thin. Other than that I enjoyed my stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The pool is small but good for a quick dip. Didn't try the hot tub or the gym. The rooftop bar is nice/convenient but be prepared for a wait- you'll be given a little buzzer device. Get there early if you want to see the sunset. It's not a normal bar where you can just grab a stool. I'd stay here again but might upgrade to a suite.

Great place, perfect location pool is lacking. It's adjacent to the parking garage. Everytime a car starts the pool area is flooded with exhaust.

One of the reception folks was not friendly. Our room was disappointingly dirty. The floor had not been cleaned. It was obvious that that had been overlooked. There was hair and little bits of paper on the floor in the bathroom. The overhead light did not work in the sitting area. I would expect this at a less prestigious hotel, but not out at La Fonda.

Check in was smooth and the front desk was very nice. The room appeared clean. The next morning we found a roach in our room. We told the front desk immediately and he really didn’t care. He did offer an apology or an explanation on what they would do to clean the room further. We checked out that day. There is a lot of homeless downtown. I used the public tested near the cafe and there was a homeless person washing up in there. She was friendly but it isn’t really something I would expect when staying at a hotel. We will not be staying there again.

La Fonda at the plaza is more of a motel. I did not spend the night there. I ended up driving about 18 hours total yesterday because I had nowhere to sleep because I didn't want to sleep in a motel. It was dirty, it was loud, there wasn't even a full shower door so I couldn't have a hot shower. The towels were stained. There was a funky smell in the room. I was almost in tears. Paid almost $600 for a room that I could not sleep in because it was too shabby for me. The carpet was stained, there was dust all around the room, all of the furniture is old and not in a cute way. I ended up driving until almost 6:00 a.m. to get home to sleep in my own bed as opposed to staying there. I will never come back.

We have stayed many times at La Fonda and usually were in the newer part. This time we were in room 272 in the older part, the room felt really dated and like it needed some updating in terms of the shower head (awful), the furnishings (nothing special), the carpet (stained). For the money, the rooms really need to be much more in line with the newer rooms there.

Historic La Fonda is located in the heart of downtown Santa Fe. Although a bit pricier than other hotels, the atmosphere is worth the extra cost. Rooms are very clean, modernized and comfortable. The "Southwest" feel is very appealing.

So I want to give a full 5 stars because there was so many amazing things about the property, but there was a little that could be improved. First off you are not getting a better location on Santa Fe plaza..the parking was seamless, the hotel was really historic and decor was fantastic. It was super clean and our room was cleaned fast and we never had to ask for anything. The only thing that could use some love are the rooms themselves. I heard that part of the hotel was remodeled, but I was clearly on the side that wasn’t. Not typically a huge deal but the rug under the beds was so stained and old that I had to wear my flip flops every time I walked in the room. The bathroom definitely needs some attention and the biggest issue was the AC. It was struggling to work and so loud it woke me up all Through out the night. For the price and the grandness of the hotel I just wasn’t expecting things like that to be overlooked. Beautiful hotel and I would stay again, maybe I’ll just ask for the remodeled side next time.

Really liked lobby and exhibits and shopping. The beehive fireplace was exceptional. Great location. Just some feedback-the room was kind of dirty (floor clearly not vacuumed, sunflower seeds on floor). Showerhead sprays all over the place needs cleaning. Sink stopped up easily. That said, we would certainly stay here again!

I was upgraded to a Terrace room and it was seriously one of the nicest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in (and I have a high bar). Everything was perfectly appointed. Original New Mexican art on the walls. Bespoke furniture and textiles. Glassware, toiletries, all very nicely done. Will definitely stay here again.
I was upgraded to a Terrace room and it was seriously one of the nicest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in (and I have a high bar). Everything was perfectly appointed. Original New Mexican art on the walls. Bespoke furniture and textiles. Glassware, toiletries, all very nicely done. Will definitely stay here again.

I stayed for 5 nights and the room was mostly comfortable and somewhat quiet but the view was absolutely awful. I could see a small sliver of sky bit otherwise, just roof and wall. Why did I get the dungeon??? The staff was very pleasant and the hotel is quite nice, but for 5 days in “the hole”. Unfair!

The negative of this hotel is that it is very loud. We were woken up by employees talking loudly in the hallway. Seems like there is no insulation in the walls so you hear everything around you.

The location was good and the concierge - John - was great. Our room was #309. The beds were VERY SOFT and did not give us a restful sleep. We woke up sore and stiff. In the bathroom the maid missed toilet paper and body soap on 2 separate occasions. I am sad to mention this, but you can be better.

Beautiful hotel. Convenient location. Our room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was large and had a nice walk in shower. All this being said, the bed was extremely firm and we found it uncomfortable. We also felt the pillows on the bed were a bit small

So I want to give a full 5 stars because there was so many amazing things about the property, but there was a little that could be improved. First off you are not getting a better location on Santa Fe plaza..the parking was seamless, the hotel was really historic and decor was fantastic. It was super clean and our room was cleaned fast and we never had to ask for anything. The only thing that could use some love are the rooms themselves. I heard that part of the hotel was remodeled, but I was clearly on the side that wasn’t. Not typically a huge deal but the rug under the beds was so stained and old that I had to wear my flip flops every time I walked in the room. The bathroom definitely needs some attention and the biggest issue was the AC. It was struggling to work and so loud it woke me up all Through out the night. For the price and the grandness of the hotel I just wasn’t expecting things like that to be overlooked. Beautiful hotel and I would stay again, maybe I’ll just ask for the remodeled side next time.

Only issue was when we went to the fifth floor bar- could not get anyone to serve us and ended up walking over to the bar tender to order and to pay. Multiple servers and even a manager walked by us multiple times while we held our menus trying to get help.

We were very disappointed to be first placed in an experimental room recently remodeled next to the service entrance on the ground floor. It was cramped and very noisy. We asked to be moved but because we booked with a third party vendor ie Expedia, the receptionist said we could not be moved. The next morning we spoke to the desk manager, Wenona, and she immediately and graciously upgraded us to the new Terrace Inn wing. This area was extraordinary and we felt incredibly appreciated as La Fonda customers despite the confusion created by being Expedia clients. We are eternally grateful for this experience with La Fonda, which happened to be my birthday celebration. Thank you La Fonda for this classic experience of Santa Fe hospitality. We loved it and will be back. The management staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay with them. Its reassuring that despite being Expedia customers are still appreciated. EXPEDIA needs to pay attention to this market trend and ensure its customers are treated as well as we were in this exceptional instance.

Staff was over-the-top, friendly, courteous, and professional. They treated us as if we were the only guests to ever be at their hotel. This is a place I’ve visited many times but I’ve never stayed at. I am so glad I made the decision to stay. Absolutely perfect.

Loved this property - staff was well trained and kind. The restaurant and room service food was superb. The entire hotel was beautifully decorated, homey and clean. The hotel has obviously paid great attention to everything a guest might need. Highly recommend.

From start to finish the staff were terrible! At checkin I asked about all of the stores and places on site (this place is huge) and wondered if there was a map or information about what was on site. I was given a disgusted look and provided nothing. The room was loud and we did not sleep well. At checkout I asked about paying cash for the parking fee (the rest of my room was paid) and it turned into the end of the world to meet this request. As I was looking for exact change (because they couldn't accommodate) my husband said the front desk woman was glaring at me and rolling her eyes. The only reason this gets 2 stars is because it was in a good location where we could walk to the historic sites and restaurants - otherwise I do NOT recommend.

Our stay and experience at La Fonda, was nothing but bad. For starters, the staff is very rude, snobby, and not friendly at all. When we first arrived, the valet guy was very disrespectful, the servers in the restaurant were very rude and the office staff, were very rude and cold as well. What we paid and how we got treated was very poor! We considered staying somewhere else due to the service, staff and the coldness the welcoming and the stay was. I will never stay at La Fonda again. For the price that was paid, I will take my business somewhere else. I also would not recommend La Fonda to friends or family. Very snobby and very unwelcoming!

I had an incident during checking in. As I was walking to the front desk I step on the rouge, the rouge slipted and I felt on the hard floor. I twisted my anckle and hitted my knee. The person in the front desk didn't seem to notice. When i told her what happened she was apologetic and offered an ice bag. I just went to my room and had pain all night. No one from the hotel checked again with me, nor they seem to do anything about the lose rouge. I think it's a safety hazard, I would expect better from a hotel like this.

Location, location, location! The hotel is located on the Plaza and is walkable to many of the tourist spots, as well as lots of restaurants and shopping. There are also several dining options and shops right on the property. The rooms are a bit on the cozy side but nicely appointed. We were happy we chose La Fonda!

A lovely property! Great staff and service. Dining and bar options close early, as is the custom all over Santa Fe, but for visitors used to staying up a bit later, it would have been nice to have the option of a getting a drink at the bar until 11 or so.
