The Roycroft Inn

There is no other property like Roycroft; the atmosphere is so special to experience. We stay here every time we visit the area. Their extensive dining and lounge areas are very welcoming, along with the porch area seating for casual conversation.

My friends and I chose East Aurora as a base to stay while in the area for a Bills game as an alternative to staying in crumbling Buffalo as we'd done in the past. We booked a couple of rooms at the Roycroft Inn and we couldn't have been happier with our choice... The rooms are decorated consistent with the inn's character and I heard that the pull-out couch was comfortable with memory foam as well. While we did get a couple of chances to walk around the neighborhood a little bit to see the sights (the newish Marta's Market up the road for sandwiches and beer was outstanding), because of the snow, we spent a great deal of our time inside the hotel property. We had dinner at the restaurant, Sunday brunch at the restaurant (outstanding value for brunch complete with string quartet), we had drinks at the bar, and we enjoyed the included continental breakfast our last morning before heading out. At every turn, the highlight here was the people. This place has done an excellent job assembling a friendly crew of characters from the front desk staff, waiters, waitresses, bartender - amazing all around. My one bit of advice to future guests is to try and find time for the lesser-used parts of the hotel especially the lounge in front of the front desk. Beautiful furniture and paintings adorn that room and it's worth bringing a drink down from the bar or grabbing a coffee and enjoying that space. Available pamphlets explain the history. A very memorable stay.

A really beautiful property in a lovely town. Came to visit friends and go to a game and the Roycroft couldn't have been a better "home base". Room was wonderful and the on site bar and restaurant were a lovely bonus.

Friendly and very accommodating staff. Restaurant was excellent.

It is a stay back in time with a nice ambience. Had a fireplace, but no fire in it. Christmas decorations were nice. Parking was limited, but close if lucky enough to find a spot. Check in involved reading all the rules, not too warm and fuzzy. All and all a nice stay, but below our expectations. Morning continental breakfast was outstanding!

We had a wonderful stay! The staff were incredible and the grounds were beautiful! We loved sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch and sitting by the fire with our evening cocktails. We will definitely be back!

The Roycroft is a historic hotel in a small village with a lot of shops and restaurants. It was very clean and in a nice neighborhood. We stayed a week. Overall stay was good. Only complaints would be lack sufficient outlets in the room, no coffee maker in the room, air conditioner was very loud, and difficulty finding a parking space on the weekend. They have a lot dedicated to hotel guests, but they don't enforce the parking rules. Restaurant goers on the weekend occupy the hotel guest spaces.

First time to area and to the Inn. We loved both and plan to come again. Loved the nostalgia of the area and the Inn. Just a few suggestions...change coffee vendor. not good. Rooms were very clean; just the ceiling vent covered in cobwebs.Restrooms could use a shelf orsometing for more counter space. Besides that, we will be recommending to others!

The location in East Auroa Ny was ideal to explore the town and the outside seating in different locations was unique.The history of the buildings and artistry shops were very nice. The carpet in the guest house was dirty or smelled alittt-le moldy.

The property was beautiful but felt a bit devoid, musty, and cold. Suggest some deep cleaning of upholstery in common areas as well as rooms, increasing heating, and maybe some music in the lobby to warm things up a bit.

The physical property itself was quite remarkable. Unfortunately the staff failed to realize just how important this historic property is to the community. Our room itself was beautiful and well looked after. The dining room was filthy, lots of soiled tablecloths, dirty silverware and dishes mixed with clean. People at front desk in the morning were loud, discussing inappropriate things about guests and housekeeping with no decorum or respect to the inns grand history. It is truly a showplace property that is not being managed as one.

Last year when we ate breakfast there, there was a woman that kept everything stocked. It seems they got rid of her because we had to go to the main desk and ask for items. For example, we had to ask for green tea, yogurts, English muffins, knives, etc. I couldn't find any receptacles for recyclables (cans or bottles). The WIFI was VERY spotty.

They were having trouble with their internet during our stay, it was up and down the whole time. The area around the hotel was very very safe, people walking around until late at night.

We had reserved a room with a "king" bed- it was clearly printed on the reservation. We were put in a room with a queen bed. Basically, the room was clean but there was a very very thick layer of dust on the window blinds. The food in the Library Restaurant was good. Breakfast was unimpressive with few choices.

Roycroft Inn was an especially beautiful property. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was spacious and lovely. The only real problem was that, as an old hotel, it was quite noisy. We could easily hear the guests above us, as well as the chatter from the public space beneath us. But we still look forward to our return in the future!

The check in was really great and the waiters at dinner were very friendly and gave me great recommendations. The room was very large with separate bed living and bathroom areas. I had the Elizabeth Barrett Browning room and am familiar with her poetry so it was a special treat. Highly recommend.

Cool place but I booked a king size bed and got a queen. The pillows were very flat and hard so not a great night sleep, but otherwise the place was very cool and we liked the bar very much

The room size is very large, walkable to restaurants and shopping, 10-minute walk. Even though a very old building it was well kept and today's connivences.

Hotel building is beautiful. The staff was very nice and helpful. We had an issue with the shower and hot water. Couldn't get hot water at the sinks. Shower was very hard to get set to a temperature that was pleasant. In the morning we couldn't get a hot water in the shower so we checked out and went home to shower.

The Inn occupies a lovely old building with real charm. Public rooms were beautifully furnished, exceedingly comfortable, and well stocked with copies of Elbert Hubbard’s writings, in case your tour of the Roycroft campus has whet your appetite. Nice large bedroom with sitting area and a good jacuzzi tub. Parking is conveniently located right outside the lobby door. The continental breakfast is limited, but at least you get to eat off real china with cloth napkins and a view of the courtyard. Some small downsides: the Arts and Crafts chairs in the bedroom were better to look at than to sit in, and there were brief periods of noise and vibrations in the room, presumably from old mechanical systems in the building.

There was a gas leak when we arrived. The hotel never notified us prior to arrival and we were offered a sub-par room. They did however send us to a neighboring hotel that ended up costing a substantial amount more than we were expecting to pay.

A fantastic stay and absolutely wonderful staff.

Loved my stay here, the hotel was clean and beautiful, very much worth the price. Comfortable beds. Was in town for my son's sporting event and when I mentioned we would have to leave earlier than the breakfast started, they offered to get it ready a bit early for us. So nice, and it was a great breakfast! Will absolutely stay here next time I am in the area.

Bob at the front desk was very helpful

Booked a king/queen and gave us a queen. Then asked people right behind us if they wanted a king or queen. They picked a king and were in the room next to us. One of us will on the sofa bed next to the bed.

Expedia reservation did not work. Was told reservations are delayed 2 days with a manual process. Had to pay at front desk after paying Expedia. Fully expecting to be double charged. No hot water for shower, etc. Zero, none, nada. Front desk didn’t seem to care when told. Beautiful property, terrible stay this time.

The Roycroft is an historic property. All the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Property is beautiful, and East Aurora is a classic old-school American town, which cool shops and eateries.

This historic property was perfect for our weekend stay. Staff was great, onsite restaurant is amazing and the surrounding area was walkable and fun to explore.

What a delight to find a quiet, attractive place to stay in Buffalo. Staff was very accommodating and room was above our expectations. Good location to walk the village without being 'in the hubbub'.

The room size is very large, walkable to restaurants and shopping, 10-minute walk. Even though a very old building it was well kept and today's connivences.

Great place to stay in East Aurora, WNY. Very vintage, but an absolute experience! We stayed while the lake snow effect occurred, and it turned out to be a winter wonderland!! The Inn’s restaurant and buffet were amazing! Staff were hospitable and helpful. The Inn was walking distance to great restaurants. It was in the middle of a safe and quaint neighborhood, reminded me of a picture on a holiday Christmas card. Highly recommend to stay here!!

We loved our stay at this property. The people at the desk were so friendly. The room was spacious and clean. We stayed here when going to the Bills game. It was only a 20 drive to the stadium. Looking forward to coming back in the summer!

Roycroft Inn lodging lives up to its grand, charming, historic allure, with most comfortable bedding, a good size of room for King Suite. It can use some outdoor window cleaning. The restaurant, however, is a disappointment, with underheated precooked ship and grits as dinner entry, and the waiting was very long, even though it was not a busy night (Tuesday). Perhaps there was not a chef in charge in the kitchen? I will not go back for dinner as part of the Roycroft Inn experience. A pity, I must say.

Room was fine. Dinner service and quality of the food were not. Waited 90+ minutes for our food (one course only) which came lukewarm but overcooked. Had to open my own bottle of wine because the waiter was too busy. Total waste of money. Waiter was frazzled all evening with too many tables and a kitchen that apparently was not cooperating. The setting outside was so nice, but the dining experience was not. We will never return, and will advise anyone who asks to avoid eating at the Roycroft Inn.

We spent 2 nights at the Roycroft Inn. Lots of history, mission style furniture, old world charm. Our room was very spacious- on the second floor- comfortable king bed, large bathroom with beautiful tile and included a nice sitting area. Only complaint is that the breakfast is so simple. Only cold options- cereal, yogurt, muffins etc. A sign said that they offered a wonderful brunch on the weekend in their dining room- thought something hot could have been added to make our stay special. The breakfast area wasn't sunny or cheerful even though it overlooked a courtyard.- a little depressing. The first morning we couldn't find anyone to replenish the breakfast table- no plates,napkins,coffee or milk. I think they may be short staffed. But we rolled with it and still enjoyed our stay.

Our room was great, the dinner we had at the restaurant was delicious however almost all items at the Continental breakfast were stale. Bagel was stale, English muffin was stale, pastries were stale however the cereal was the only fresh item.
