I'be been staying here for years. Clean, safe place that is well kept with no frills and somewhat "dorm type" rooms. Not fancy but good location, great places to walk or get a bagel and coffee, etc and a nice resteurant on site. Somewhat dated and not modern at all, but quiet, clean and safe.

I stayed here in order to visit Teddy Roosevelt’s Sagamore Hill. The hotel’s decor is charming, especially if you’re a Burt Bacharach fan. Staff were helpful and courteous, and several good restaurants are within a very short walking distance. The only downside is that it’s easy to hear activity in the adjacent rooms, but fortunately, I had quiet neighbors (YMMV).

No breakfast, as indicated by some of the sources we saw. The desk clerk who checked us in didn't seem to care if we were there or not. Totally unwelcoming and rude. For half the night there were footsteps and somebody dragging something across the floor above us. The place was not impressive. It was ok . . . just ok . . . or less. I wouldn't make an effort to stay there again.

This is a hard review to write. For the most part our stay was perfectly pleasant. The room was nice, the location central, the bed comfy. The problems for us were the front desk staff and the layout/accessibility of the place. The first night we checked in it was raining pretty hard. There is no awning over the front door, so we unpacked the car in the rain, not that big a deal, but pretty inconvenient and not what you want after a day on the road. The larger problem came after parking the car and realizing that there was no entry from the door leading in from the parking lot because it was after 6 and there was no.key entry. I had to walk all the way around the building and was soaked by the time I got in. The man, cannot call him gentle, at the desk had been unhelpful with check in. finally in, there are no batteries in our remote, I trudged back to the front desk (did I mention it is a looooong trudge to the rooms?) The guy took it replaced them and tossed it back all without a word. The worst, though, was the 3rd morning we had to call down because of a clogged toilet. The front desk woman, to her credit, came down herself, plunged and told me not to put toilet paper in the toilet that that was what the trash can was for and then proceeded to wash the plunger with water only in the ice bucket and return the ice bucket to the shelf. GAG ME! Nice rooms, good price, self (be vigilant) service.
