Comfort Suites Mason near Kings Island

This Comfort Suites is barely a step above your average rundown motel. I was actually kind of shocked at how bad it was. First impressions of the place aren’t amazing, but the whole building smells kind of odd. It’s something you notice right away after walking in. You can’t help but walk by the pool area since it’s basically part of the main lobby, and it looks like it’s way overdue for an update. Not only is it extremely small, but it was a very uninviting shade of green when we stayed. The hotel is 3 floors, and we stayed in one of the larger suites on the uppermost. The room smelled musty and wet like there’s too much humidity in it. The floor was dirty, the bedsheets were stained. The bathroom had peeling wallpaper and a stained bathtub. There were boogers on the walls next to the bed’s headrest. Half of the outlets in the room didn’t work. The toilet paper holder was half detached from the wall and the toilet seat was crooked. The air conditioner was a wall unit, pretty standard in hotels, but it was awfully noisy with a loud intermittent rattle. The microwave was clean, they did have a small coffee maker in the room. The fridge was a decent size but seemed like it had a hard time keeping things cold. This is also one of those hotels that give you extremely tiny bottles of shampoo and conditioner and uses soap picks that are thinner than an Oreo cookie. Regardless of how many people are staying in the room, they default to one of each.

Rooms were decent. Elevator either gets turned off each night, or magically ‘breaks’ til the next morning when staff needs to use it. Of the 2 door key cards we had, one had to be reactivated once, the other one had to get reactivated 3 times during a 2 night stay. Nice enough hotel with friendly staff and decent parking. I would recommend a room on the 1st floor due to the elevator “situation”.

We chose this hotel as a last minute place to sleep when we decided to do two days at Kings. Check-in/check-out was fast. When we get to out rooms both the carpet and flooring felt sticky. The hooks and toilet paper holder in the bathroom were very loose and didnt hold anything. My kids were happy to have an indoor pool. However the pool had a wierd cloudy green tint to it. Never seen an indoor pool look like that. Our rooms had two bed but my son decided to sleep on the couch so his phone wouldn't bother us. Big mistake. He woke up with bug bites all around his cheast, neck and arms. A dozen or so bites in total. Breakfast was okay at best. The hotel just seems rundown and worn-out.

Close to King's Island. Plenty of restaurants around. However, while they are cleaning the rooms, things are so old they aren't coming clean anymore. For example, the towels are so old they're thin and stained. The floor in the hallway looks permanently dirty. The pool looks gross.

We used it on our way to Noah's Ark. The hotel was small and the pool didn't seem to be in operation. The room was good for families. The breakfast was simple, but the waffles that you make yourself were popular with the kids.

We stayed one night at the hotel. Check in was super easy as we came in late. Pool was not open due to maintenance. Room was okay - the plugs really did not hold anything well (charger kept following out). Beds were comfy. Some stains on floor and sheets though. Breakfast was not great - didn’t really replenish items. Went to desk in morning after breakfast to ask question and no help came for about 10 minutes (even after ringing help bell).

They said the pool was heated it was not. The air conditioner was not running great in room. They took a 150.00 hold for property damage but put me in a room with a whole in wall. Other than that it was clean my family just wanted to sleep. I wanted to relax in a heated pool but it was freezing cold. So I went back up to room. But property is close vicinity for Kings Island was cheap. So you get what you pay for.

My stay was not great. The room smelled like mildew. The tub was dirty and the room was dusty. The breakfast food was not hot the employee brought a pan of eggs from the back they were luke warm.

I would definitely never stay here again and I would never recommend this place to anyone. It was very dirty. The bathtub did not drain. It had a smell like burning plastic. Dirty socks in the ice machine room. Tiny pillows on the beds. I asked for a refund for the second night of my stay to get out of the hotel but I could not be refunded any money so we stayed a second night. Never again. I’ll drive further next time.

At check-in the clerk asked for a credit card to cover “incidentals”, only to find out later that they charged $150 to my card as a “deposit”. The $150 deposit was never mentioned to me & I had already paid in full for my room through the hotels.com app. Still waiting for a refund. The room needed some maintenance & better cleaning. The bathtub faucet was not connected so you had to hold it still with one hand & pull the button up with the other to turn the shower on. There were long hairs stuck on the shower wall. One of the headboards was covered in a greasy film right above the pillows. (Thank goodness I had Clorox wipes with me to clean it off!) The wardrobe had a disgusting smell inside. The lid to the ice bucket had food stuck to the inside.

Dirty room, stains on carpet, outdated, dirty pool with paint peeling and laundry room with bags of trash and fruit flys everywhere.

I have NEVER wrote a review, good or bad for anything but this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had staying at a hotel and we are frequent travelers. 1.The side doors from the outside of the hotel DO NOT LOCK, making us feel unsafe. 2.The pool door DID NOT LOCK. My 2 year old could have opened the pool door. She could have easily ran in there on her own. 3.To save money they turn off the lights in the pool and don’t turn them on unless you ask them to. 4.As soon as you walk into the room there is an awful musty smell and they do not have the air turned on. If we didn’t bring our own fan to help circulate the air it wouldn’t have been cool enough in there until the next morning when we were ready to leave. 5.My 2 year old wouldn’t even eat their eggs at breakfast they were so bland. 6.The shower was so disgusting. There were black splatter spots on the wall and I could have sworn it was a stain and there was no way it could come off. It wiped right off, I don’t think they clean the showers. 7.The toilet paper holder was barely attached to the wall. 8.The tv remote was broken 9.The complimentary water was absolutely disgusting. I thought I was drinking straight chemicals. It’s definitely not filtered. 10.The carpet and the couch in the room were also musty and just gross.

The staff was friendly, with the exception of the cleaning staff. Also, the lobby has a view to the pool. The windows to the pool area were filthy and the pool was a terrible green color, as if it wasn’t properly maintained. I then get to my room and it is almost 80 degrees, and I had to turn the air on the lowest setting and it still wasn’t a comfortable temperature. The couch in the room appeared dirty and when I tried to take a shower, there was a used wash cloth in it. It felt dirty the entire time. They need to maintain the rooms and the lobby area better. They also offer breakfast, but if they can’t maintain the room and the lobby, why would I risk my health to eat food there. Very bad experience, other than the front desk.

Room was a very nice size but a little dated. We had 2 queen-sized beds, sofa, table, and armoir for our hanging clothes. We faced king's island so that was very cool.

Property is a bit run down. Shower was gross looking (not dirty, just old and grungy looking). Drains all slow resulting in standing water. Location is close to Kings Island.

Booked this room for Kings Island trip. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely polite and very quick with check-in. He came out immediately upon me pressing the buzzer. Room was comfortable and bedding was particularly comfy for this class of property. TV was a bit small, but picture quality was very good and channel selection was decent (with HBO). WiFi was above-average for large property and had no problem streaming HD videos. USB ports next to bedside are a very convenient addition. Be sure to book the top floor if possible. Not the fault of management, but some inconsiderate person allowed their child to run or jump all over the room above me until nearly midnight. Shower had plenty of pressure and hot water, but a bit worn. Could use a little additional attention, but not all bad. Needs some caulking work. There are lots of eating options and a Speedway convenient store right next door. Kings Island is a 4 minute drive. Breakfast was not very good, but they did have waffles. The cubed egg product (cold) is a bad idea and they were not at all good. I would rather properties serve what they can do right within budget rather than include cheap items to try to fluff the menu. I would certainly return again. The price is clearly related to the location (during summer) since it is about the closest cheaper option by Kings Island.

A kind of faded appearance but serviceable for a night.

The room was decent and it had good housekeeping. We had problems with the shower top it was plugged and the sink was plugged to and no water came out other than that the hotel was good.

The rooms could have been a touch cleaner. There was a strong musty smell in the hotel.

Great for a stay with 5 people. Pull out couch is a must.

Nice property. Comfy beds and clean. The only complaint I had was hearing people walking around on the floor above us when we were sleeping.

Great customer service and the beds are so soft! Perfect for a Kings Island trip

The room had a really bad smell/odor most likely due to the old, gross carpet in the room. The odor was 100% a mildew/mold smell. This tainted an otherwise comfortable and adequate room. The beds and pull-out couch were good for our family of 5 (kids ages 15, 13, 11). The breakfast was decent. We did not go in the pool...it didn't look great. We had some issues with our keys but the 24-hour front desk was able to help us relatively quickly. Easily a 4-star stay if the room hadn't smelled so bad, but given the smell, closer to 2.5 stars.

It was an ok stay broken things in the room ware and tare clean but not the cleanest . Upon getting to the hotel i was charged $150 deposit for one night for incidentals and still jave not got that money back that cost was more the what i paid for the room for 1 night. I stayed here for 4 nights and really enjoyed my stay. It was only my young son and I, and we felt safe staying here.. The staff was very friendly the moment we walked through the door. The room was very clean and smelled nice. I never leave reviews but this one deserved it a nice review. Ive stayed in plenty of hotels in the area over the years and this was by far the nicest.

This used to be our favorite place to stay so when I got an amazing rate I was excited and booked for the night. Check in was good up until I was told that because I booked with a 3rd party they have to hold $150 for incidentals. People on a budget book through 3rd party companies to save money. Some people may not have $150 to hold up for a few days. What are they supposed to do? More than likely that is their spending money for a fun day at KI. Then the room...our security latch was broke, the plugs by the bedstand are so loose they don't keep anything plugged in. I am just sad because this was our favorite spot to stay but we will not be coming back. I can live with a little dust and wear and tear but there is no reason to hold up that much money for incidentals. For any reason.

I really wish i could remember the gentelmans name at the fromt desk or the young lady that is the manager when i checked in but it exscapes me at this time. Any how they both were very polite and prfessional and made my family and i almost feel like i was staying with family. The room was very clean and all the amenaties was every thing i expected as well. Great job

Check in was ok but we were told we had to put a deposit of $150 down because we booked though a 3rd party site. We had 5 in our room and when we asked for another towel, we were told they didn’t have any. Stayed for 3 days and they never had any breakfast and we were always told they had no towels. Was close to Kings Island, that was the only good thing about this hotel. Beds were hard and uncomfortable.

The manager went above and beyond to meet our needs

My card was charged twice and I have been told it would take up to 5 business days for refund. The lady who answers the phone is very unprofessional and very rude. She hung up when I asked her who else I could speak with after telling me to ‘call the bank.” My bank doesn’t have a problem receiving a refund and has no transactions pending. When I tried to call back, she picked up the phone and once again hung up. I work in management and this is absolutely unacceptable customer service. Employees who behave like this give your hotel a bad name. The room was great and the night manager was much more friendly than the lady encountered today. Sadly, one bad encounter/attitude can ruin your entire experience. I would recommend additional customer service training for your staff.

It was helpful that it was so closely located to Kings Island. It's also in a very nice part of town, safe and clean.

Pros: Convenient to Kings Island, many area food options, many shopping options within a few exits on I-71. Cons: Not a lot of parking, the interior is a bit on the worn side.

The hotel is very close to King's Island and has ample parking. Cleanliness is clearly not a top priority for Comfort Suites. This is the third Comfort Suites this year that has had mold in the bathroom and shower area. A little bleach and a sponge would clear it up in a hurry. Please take the time to clean the rooms. A dirty bathroom makes me wonder how clean the beds and linens could be.

Good stay, location was excellent. Alot of eating places nearby and close to KIng's Island

Family trip to Kings Island. Location was great. 2 minutes to Kings Island. Watched the Kings Island nightly fireworks from our room. Restaurants were in walking distance. Hotel was quiet. Descent breakfast. Only negative was the beds were too soft for our taste. Other than that, we would stay there again.

Facility was clean. Room was clean. The breakfast is straight forward—cereal, toast, yogurt, scrambled liquid eggs, pork sausage & make a waffle. There are plenty of eateries close to the hotel, some even walking distance (i.e. Buffalo Wings & Rings & Tokyo Grill Buffet). The selling point for my trip: 3 min drive from Kings Island!

A great location to stay when visiting Kings Island. Easy access and they serve breakfast, which is a plus.

Nice place next to Kings Island. 20 min walk to the park if you're up for it. Friendly staff. Good value for the area.

Room was clean. Staff was polite. Outlet by bed was not working, so everone was scrambling to find a place to charge electronics after a full day at Kings Island. Breakfast was quick to run out before staff could restock and congested for crowd size, but food was okay. Good place to lay your head for the night.

Overall, it served its purpose. Some pros were that it was really close to Kings Island, the price was good and the rooms could hold 5 comfortably. Some cons were that there was a curry like smell consistently, the rooms could have been cleaned better and things need to be updated. But for me, my memory of my stay was that my toilet clogged and i was told to take care of it. They did give me a plunger though.

I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times and the breakfast that is supposed to be available until 9:30 am is only available until 9-9:15. Nothing is replenished. The muffins, fruit, cereal, warm food is all pulled by 9:15. Very disappointing and I will be looking for another hotel in the future when I stay in Mason.

Breakfast was not good. Eggs were dried out, decided sausage was not edible, orange juice concentration was not mixed and came out like flavored water. We were in need of food once we left what was offered for breakfast. Would recommend someone paying more attention to keeping foods in appropriate condition for customers

Typical low cost stay. Nothing to brag about besides the low price and good location. While I know the rates were low you should skip their breakfast.

It is close to King’s Island. The buffet breakfast was wonderful but only served from 6am to 9am. I would have preferred it to remain available until 10am especially on the weekends.
