Pet friendly place in rural Oregon. Stayed after doing the Hells Canyon Scenic ByWay. Walking distance to parks and restaurants. Nice to be able to walk after a day in the car. Parking lot is a bit tight, but not a big problem.

The staff was friendly and courteous. We also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub! The hotel is located centrally in downtown, and there are restaurants within walking distance.

Well this was not a good experience. We had a handicap room that was the last one according to the front desk. First impression walking into the room was the musky smell, we are not sure if it was coming from the carpet or maybe the shower/toilet area. The floor looked dirty and was very old/used, lots of crappy repairs, dirty caulking, dirty grout, paint was dirty looking. When showering water poured into the bathroom floor because of the ADA stall, the bathroom had a foul odor too, seemed like the sewer smell was coming up through the drain in the shower. Then there was the bed, the mattress was horrible, first I don't think it was a queen, maybe a double, and the mattress was old/used, it was curved towards the middle and had no support. My wife and I didn't sleep much at all, maybe 2-3 hours and were exhausted the next day on our drive. Only good part about this hotel was the jokes we made to everyone else at the family gathering we were going to about never staying at the best western in John Day as it is the worst room I have ever paid for.

We have small dogs that like to bark. They didn't hear the neighbors doors close or people talking so they were quiet the whole time. The hotel was almost full so there were people around. Nice soundproofing. And its a very safe, we left and accidentally left the door not closed all the way. We were gone for HOURS and nothing was touched, everything as we left it.

We were happy with our room but unhappy with front desk. It was a half day before we were able to talk with someone at desk. There was no answering service. While there we observed desk person out on lawn with dog talking with friends. This was a lot of the time. We know she is single and a mom and don’t want her let go but am bringing it to your attention

I was charged $237 for my room The guy that was travling with us got the same room for $110 and was given a box of donuts. When i asked the girl about it she said, oh well. We were traveling together and checked in toghether. We were on the same reservation. This makes no sense. I'm owed a refund.

This is a sweet motel in the heart of John Day. While it is an older design-it is a very pleasant place to stay in a rural part of Oregon. We found good food at the Outpost Pizza adjacent to the inn. It served delicious pizza. The bar tender was personable and made our dinner fun.
