Quality Inn Surfside Myrtle Beach

The staff was very nice! They greeted you when you would come in or leave. They didn’t mind to help when we were out of something. They only down side is they have no elevator. I realize it’s only 2 floors, but it’s not easy carry a weeks worth of stuff up and down stairs. I’m sure if we needed it someone would have helped, they seem friendly enough that they would so.

Dirty diaper by the pool

The property is in the midst of being renovated. Neither the property website or Expedia reflectvthis info. The breakfast area is closed so the advertised free breakfast doescnot exist. My renovated room looked to be not quite fully renovated. But the bed and main furnishings looked new. Everything worked as it should, even stuff that still needs attention.

Rooms are on the small side but adequate. Well appointed. Staff was very nice. Only drawback was being a two-story building and not having an elevator. Had to log 250 pound suitcases upstairs was not good.

Very conveniently located near Myrtle Beach Airport. Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. There was a little microwave in the room which wasn't noticed by me in photos or immenities fyi :) As a single woman traveler felt safe even though right on Highway 17! Staff was courteous and helpful in every department ! Everything fit my needs perfectly with nearby restaurants and grocery :)

The front desk people Pam and Brian were exceptional. The pool was not clean and the maintenance staff pretty much nonexistent.

Pool wasnt available during our stay, but overall Our stay was pleasant.

The pool area needs attention

The swimming pool was dirty and could uses a good scrubbing around the rim areas. Many of the lights around the pool had missing lamps, with broken and exposed electrical wires. This looked like a safety hazard. Food for breakfast was limited.

The room was so damp you couldnt take your shoes off. Its 2 miles from the beach but it should not be that humid in the rooms. Sleeping was uncomfortable because it was so sticky. There was a smell in the bathroom that smelled like mold which wouldn't be a surprise. I had a sore throat this morning. There are hotels directly on the beach that aren't like that. I know its cheap $$ but you can do better especially in a high tourist area.

We began our stay in the afternoon. No problem the first day. But the mornings in the breakfast room was horrible. Only waffles, cereal, small muffins which tasted awful. There was no spray for the waffle maker (until we found it in a cabinet). No employee to help anyone. The orange juice had been empty for days. The worse part was our room wasn’t cleaned at all after our first night. My husband went to the desk and was told, “Oh, there will be no service this week!” So, no cleaning, beds made, bathroom cleaned, trash emptied, etc. He went back later to ask for clean towels they we’re reluctant but they gave him enough for our stay there. The manager (I think) wore the same clothes for 3 days; t-ahirt, jeans and flip flops Not professional. Just a very bad experience and will never stay there again.

I booked one night at this hotel using Expedia rewards. We had a late arrival and we were going to stay one night before getting our vacation condo. We entered room and when I went to put my bags on counter in room, a bed bug was crawling. We check the mattress and there was evidence of bed bugs. The woman at the desk documented and proceeded to change our room. The new room didn't seem bad, but again the mattress cover was dirty. We contiplated staying as you can tell the hotel is working to improve with construction and mattresses looked new. Ultimately, we decided not to stay after I read that bed bugs can move via electrical outlets, etc. I called our condo and paid an addition $250 to get in earlier than planned. Expedia will not reimburse me for the rewards I used to book and hotel will not approve the reimbursement. As a premium rewards member and booking all my travels through Expedia, I am extremely frustrated. I would not recommend staying at this hotel and I was extremely surprised at the high reviews. Also, I now doubt the legitimacy of the reviews as they seem pretty basic. Something is not right.

Staff was very courteous and the room was spotless. I would stay there again! Very safe neighborhood.

Great stay however we did find a roach. The breakfast was not the greatest.

The room Stank. It smelled like urine. Soon as we walked in. I sprayed. De cleaned everything with bleach and could still smell the urine. It was trash still n the trash cans, bed had a huge stain on it and towels smelt damp/moldy. And no elevator so had to carry everything up steps Cheap and conveniently place but would of rather spent more money to b comfortable

AVOID!!! The reviews regarding this motel being renovated and “excellent” are untrue. The entire facility is worn down, damp and disgusting. Our room wreaked off mold, cigarette smoke and wet dog. The bathroom is awful. If you’re under 4’ 7”, the shower height is fine. However, the pressure of the water is abysmal. The cleaning staff have portable dehumidifiers in every room to combat the inherent water/moisture issues. We would have slept in the car if not for the extreme heat outside. There was nothing positive about this dump and we’ll never return.

Hotel was just ok. Loved having a dehumidifier in the room, but the WIFI was terrible!

Came home from vacation ant 9pm and AC was broken went to this hotel in a panic needing a place to stay the night with our kids. The front desk help was so amazing and helpful. As a local we found our new emergency place to stay! Thank you again

The location was ideal for my needs on this trip. However, the room was in disrepair. The shower curtain rod and one of the floating nightstands had clearly been ripped off the walls, and had not been sufficiently resecured. The entire building smelled of fresh paint for the duration of my 3 night stay, and the room itself smelled musty like an old basement. The window did not latch properly, and since I was on the ground floor on the backside of the building, that was a major concern. All in all, not worth the $150+ per night that I paid.

Average hotel, pricey due to location. Numerous small items could have made the room much nicer. Vents were dirty and rusted. Caulking and face plate for toilet need replaced. Remnant of the heat lamp had large hole to open plenum above. Room was very humid throughout the stay even with AC on. Staff and breakfast were good. No protein on the breakfast though.

Our room was spacious. Location was convenient for tourists. Staff was friendly and helpful. Humidity was overwhelming. Towels never dried. Brian at desk got us dry ones,

The carpet was heavy stained, the room was good other than that.

The Internet quality was poor and spotty. Also, they blast the volume of the lobby TV at all hours making it difficult to ignore for many rooms.

Rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, the hotel is a bit dated.

Brain with an I always did a great job. Very helpful and very knowledge. He was always there to help.

Staff was extremely rude and I was charged twice once through hotel.com then had to pay again for my room when I got to the hotel. The hotel told me it was a security deposit which was $100 they took $258 off my credit card after I already paid $358 through hotels.com

We got locked out of our room because the lady who checked us in screwed up and marked us as a no-show. They had assigned our room to someone else who apparently entered our room while we were gone and saw our stuff. Luckily, nothing was stolen. Then, even after fixing their mess-up, housekeeping tried to enter our room the next morning, thinking it was our check-out day when it was not. The breakfast is an absolute hoax. Not a great place to stay, but the rooms were ok.

I arrived at the inn to find out they had no record of my reservation, despite booking through Expedia. After multiple calls with Expedia, and their refusing to book a similar room and compensate for my lost time and frustration, they told me they would issue a refund and add 30 bucks to my account to rebook. I agreed out of tiredness and added a day to the reservation since we had already lost 2 hours. However, due to an issue with Expedia’s system not letting me book the same night although being selected, the booking ended up being for the following night and the night after, instead of the night I actually needed. Once again, after several frustrating calls, neither Expedia nor the hotel was willing to resolve the issue without charging a fee. The hotel manager and the front desk staff were uncooperative and frankly showed no empathy. As a result, I had no choice but to sleep in my car that night. When we finally checked in the next day, things did not improve. Empty shampoo, a full dehumidifier, stains on the bed sheets, hair on all the towels, and nearly empty toilet paper. Nothing was done. I requested room service the following day but they only tidied the beds. I told the front desk and he very rudely said that they were out of those stuff and I should visit the CVS down the road and empty the dehumkdifier myself. I did as the room was very humid and the dehumidifier was full of mold. The breakfast sucked too. I will not book with quality inn and Expedia ever again

The Staff was not friendy. As you walk by the front desk, there was no hello or how are u. and even check in. I asked for a first floor room .. but the Clerk..said all book and not availabile.. did not say sorry or try to accomodate. I understand if they had a full hotel,but they checked someone in right before as a walk in for first floor. When I checked out, the clerk says thanks and that its.. Did not say how the stay or offer a receipt. The property was average. The hair dry in the bathroom had hair all over it. It was not from our hair. I have have hotel experience and I work in Customer service.

We requested a late check out and hotel denied it. The front desk lady asked for $25 charges for the late check out and came to my room demanding it immediately. She was very rude and unprofessional. She was accusing that we might sneak out the back door without paying them. That was ridiculous and very insulting. What kind of horrible customer service is this? Demanding money like a collection agent! I’m really disappointed and frustrated with this hotel and the staff.

Check in was horrible. The front desk staff tried to put us in a room that already had people in it. They tried to play it off that the door was dead. It took 45 to get into a room with 2 sleeping toddlers.

Clean and comfortable rooms. Great location near everything. The outside a little tired but all beach hotels are like this unless they’re brand new. Good vale for the money.

The free breakfast was not good. Limited items and poor tasting food.

Not found of breakfast but it was oatmeal, waffles and muffins. It was ok. Staff were hardworking and outstanding.

Room was clean but there were stains on the furniture and comforter. The breakfast was not great. There were no plates. The waffle machine was coated in waffle stuck to it which left it unusable and there was no OJ. Would not stay there again.

This hotel was clean and close to the beach. The breakfast bar was minimal but everything else good.

Breakfast poor. No eggs. What can a diabetic like me eat at your breakfast.

Breakfast was a disappointment. There was only margarine in the fridge, no milk. Waffle batter was near empty with only enough batter for less than half of a waffle. So my kids ate dry fruit loops/frosted flakes with a cup of juice.

The rooms were well cleaned. The only complaint with cleaning was the carpet needs removed. The front desk staff were wonderful especially Maria. I am very disappointed in Quality Inn that my reservations were made in January for end of March so I feel like there was plenty of time to let us know that none of the amenities offered were available. With a family of five the free breakfast included was a deciding factor in choosing to stay there only to find out upon arrival it also was not available and nothing was offered in lieu of it.
