Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sweetwater by IHG

The room smelled of mold/mildew. The shower was not clean it had other people’s hair in it. The hotel itself is dated. The pool was closed but was not mentioned on site. And sadly the pancake machine was broken :(

Upside: Rooms were clean and quiet. Breakfast was very good. Convenient to the location we were visiting. Downside: Only spent the money I did for the room because of the indoor pool and exercise room, but the pool was closed for cleaning the entire time we were there Thursday thru Saturday, also the exercise room only had two pieces of equipment, a stationary bike and treadmill(which didn't work). Other than those things the stay was pretty good.

Staff was very nice. However, this location seems to be in very poor condition. Everything made of metal was rusty. The air conditioner in the room barely worked poorly and the room smelled moldy. The hotel pool and gym were not available for use (we had to sign a waiver?! they didn't tell us about these facilities being out until we arrived). None of the ice machines worked except on one floor. That said, the staff were friendly and seemed to do their best to keep the facility clean to the best of their ability.

First woman who greeted us at 2:10 pm was abrupt. Said she could not let us “on the floor” while housekeeping were still there.” Had to unlock lobby restrooms for our use. Upon our return to check in (after 3 pm), room 210 smelled badly of mustiness, and furniture was torn and very worn. Breakfast staff served wearing a bathrobe, and pool was closed “for daily cleaning” the entire 3 days we were there.

Very pricey for conditions and amenities. Pool closed and has been maybe since covid. Sparse on breakfast compared to other Holiday inns. Have been members for 30+ years and will not stay at this location again.

Third stay at this property in the prior five months. First two stays were slightly above average and acceptable. This stay, though, will be our last at this property. When entering the room, it was extremely humid while cool. There was even a dehumidifier in the hallway just outside our door...we should have unplugged it and moved it into our room. The carpet was moist, resulting in our socks having to be thrown away due to the stains when first walking around the room...then we wore our shoes. The sheets were even slightly moist. Was told no other rooms available and no offer to adjust our rate was provided because we had pre-paid for two nights. Other issues include floor in bathroom very poor and would sink a good 1/2 inch with entering. Sink stopper broken, carpet snagged, and foot bench in front of couch was in terrible condition. Ultimately, we left after one night, forfeited our second night's payment (pre-paid). Additionally, the pool has been closed for cleaning or maintenance during all three stays. This stay, though, I had to initial a form notifying me that the pool was closed. The one positive thing with this trip along with the prior two was the breakfast. Although this isn't enough to salvage our business. This property is not a good example of most Holiday Inn Express locations.

The staff was great but my chikdren were highly upset when we checked in and were told the pool would be closed the duration of our stay as well as the fitness center.

Pool was closed. Also saw a comment from a week before that the pool was closed then, too. The gym equipment didn't function properly. Property didn't seem as in good of shape as typical Holiday Inn Express hotels (we stayed in three different HIE over the past week)

The indoor “heated” pool was freezing. They stated they would have maintenance come and look at it the next day and it was still not getting worked on. Part of the reason for booking was for the pool too.

Mold/mildew on walls/ceiling in bathroom and in bedroom. Everything was damp and mildewy smelling. We both woke up feeling the effects from sleeping in these conditions. Tub wouldn't drain as we showered. Very disgusted that the IHG brand would find this acceptable. Its what i would expect for a $60/nt room (have stayed in that) and just the night before we paid the same amt at another IHG Holiday Inn Express near Knoxville that was fabulous!! Too disgusted to eat breakfast there so no reviews on the food or breakfast area.

Shower head dripping, mold in shower, poor water pressure.

It was dirty the floors the linen looked like it wasn’t even changed from previous guests.

Vomit in hallway. Walked in room. Smelt musty. Went to sleep to wake up to roaches on kitchenette and table and walls. Asked for my money back and they refused and kicked us out

The hotel was undergoing exterior painting which is a good thing, but it added another layer of grittiness to an already dated and grungy hotel. Our room was extremely humid which made the sheets feel damp and gave the room a dank smell. It even caused a wall lamp to get rusty. The furnishings were very worn. The bathroom sink faucet was water stained and there was a long black hair on the countertop—all of us have short grey hair. As soon as we woke up, we just wanted to get out of there so we skip breakfast so we cannot give a review of that. Overall it was disappointing!

The room was not very clean. The sofa bed that we needed for two small children, did not have sheets. Pillows, or blankets. Bathroom had mold damage.

You can tell they’ve had water damage. Peeling wallpaper, the room smelled musty and had water spots on the shelves. Mold growing on the light fixtures & bathtub. I’m sure this was a really nice hotel at one point but hasn’t been kept up. There were crumbs and dirt in the hallways. This was just a stopover on our way home or else we would not have stayed there. The area around the hotel is rundown with closed establishments.the pool water was cloudy. The pictures are very deceiving. The staff that checked us in was very nice, but the older woman just hanging out on the bench by the door puffing on a cigarette was a little off putting. In the morning, another staff member in scrubs also smoking on the bench.

Bedding stained , shower dirty , hole in the wall . Changed rooms but not much better

I usually hold Holiday Inn to a higher standard. There was a weird smell in the lobby, and there were water stains on the ceiling. Booked a 2-queen bed room thru hotels.com and upon arrival was told there was only 1-king bed rooms available. My daughter said the sofa was very uncomfortable. I had to share a bed with my husband and my 200 lb giant of a son. The bed was so hard, and there were springs digging in my back all night. The room smelled musty. Luckily, I carry a tiny febreze with me. There was a dead bug in the bathroom floor, some sort of poop-looking skid mark in the carpet, whisker hairs in the sink, and crumbs between the bed and side table. Needless to say, I left my shoes on until I got into the bed. I was disappointed in my stay.

It was ok, not very clean.

I was hit with a $50 fee at check in. Completely unexpected as it wasn’t listed in the price. The walls are incredibly thin and we can hear every step other guests make. Sleeping is going to be very difficult.

Hotel was very outdated. Key card slot on the door didnt work the greatest. It took several times of swiping the key card to get in. Ice machine and elevator was right outside our door.

THIS HOTEL HAS A WATER HEATER PROBLEM. IF YOU LOVE COLD SHOWERS, STAY HERE. IF NOT, AVOID IT. I QUESTIONED OTHERS STAYING THERE AT BREAKFAST, THEY HAD SAME PROBLEM. WATER DOESN'T GET HOT. GIRL AT FRONT DESK GAVE ME ATTITUDE AT CHECKOUT. SAID SHE LIVES AT HOTEL. HAS HOT WATER. MANAGER NOT IN YET. ADVISED I SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED FOR OVERNIGHT STAY. TOLD HER TO HAVE MANAGER CALL ME ABOUT THIS. SO FAR NO CALL. SHE PROBABLY NEVER MENTIONED OUR CONVERSATION TO HER. WE DONT TAKE COLD SHOWERS. HAD TO WAIT TILL I GOT HOME. SAD. THIS WAS 4/24/25 ROOM 324. FRONT DESK GIRL TOLD ME TO CALM DOWN. I WANTED TO SHOVE HER IN A COLD SHOWER.

The pull out bed wasterrible. My 10 year old woke up stiffand sore feom sleeping on it. The water pressure was horrible in the shower. And one staff member was rude.

The light as you come into the room didn’t work, the curtain was shredded, and the pillow smelled like an old man. 2Am someone was outside in the hall filling up a cooler with ice. The bed was comfortable.

Disappointed the air didn’t work, room smelt like smoke also got charged an additional 150 and was told it would go back on in 24 hrs and 5 days later it went back on

We normally stay at this hotel on our way back from Florida. The staff was friendly and the room was spacious. There is a variety of places to eat/door-dash. And I love they provided a list of restaurants. Need to work on make sure the room phone works and put anti-slip in the tubs.

We were disappointed in our stay at this hotel. We have fairly regularly stayed at Holiday Inn Express Hotels and have had good experiences. The hotel was not that busy and we were given a room that was right by the elevator and the loud ice machine was right outside our door. The room was humid and the elevator was very shabby. It did not seem at all like a hotel that would charge $180 per night. The staff was helpful and friendly but this hotel needs some upgrading. Seemed like an old hotel that Holiday Inn purchased and put their sign out front.

Room was very large for 2 adults & our 3 sons. 2 queens beds were comfortable but the sofa bed was needing to be replaced. Bathroom needed attention. Shower head needed replaced. Walls needed repaired and painted. Breakfast options were excellent.

The ladies at front desk at check in were so friendly and very helpful. They offered us complimentary cookies and recommended an excellent restaurant for supper,which didnt disappoint. If Holiday Inn could bottle the skill ser of the staff here in Sweetwater Tennessee, it would benefit the whole organization. Keep up the great work👍👏👏

The young man who checked us in did an amazing job. He was extremely busy but made us his top priority.

Room was clean but hotel desk clerks didnt know what they was doing. There was one boy that was very helpful and i made the bed as i was sick. Wife got locked out of the room and the maids would not let her in said they was not allowed so she was stuck outside the hallway and her nightgown

Made a reservation online for a family funeral. Walked in and two families ahead of us were being told despite their reservation they did not have a room for them, again the same with us. I tried to give them our online reservation code and the clerk would not even listen to me. Very rude and disrespectful!

Irene in the front desk was really kind. We need more people like this.

Just after checking in, the corner of a rug in front of the check-in desk came up and I tripped over it, falling very hard on the lobby floor. The clerk never came around the desk to assist me, and offered zero help whatsoever. I was shocked that in the hospitality industry the was zero hospitality for a guest in very obvious distress. The lack of any response or empathy reflects terribly not only on this location, but IHG overall. I advised the clerk of the incident at checkout the next morning. She did apologize, but I've heard nothing from IHG about the incident.

We were given 5 different rooms before finally being able to settle in for the night. We were given multiple keys that didn’t work, then sent to a room that was occupied or hadn’t been cleaned yet, then given a room that was not what we reserved and could not accommodate us before finally getting into a room. We have small children and it was late at night and we had to traipse them across the hotel several times. It was awful and seemed like they had no idea what they were doing

It speaks volumes when it’s been a few years since you’ve stayed and the staff memeber that checked me in still remembered us. Goes to show you speak kindness everywhere you go!

It was close to the freeway and yet quiet

Hotel was convenient to town and to I-75. Very clean and in excellent condition. I especially liked the single cup Kurig coffee maker.

Decent spot to stay along I75. Could use a little TLC but overall fine. Great breakfast!

The property was conveniently located near the interstate and great dining areas. The staff was friendly, hotel was clean, and the breakfast was delicious. We only wished the pool had been heated.

This location is quiet and peaceful. The staff are very friendly.

It was very nice. The roads were bad from the snow. The guy at the front desk told us about a restaurant that delivered. We took advantage of it so we wouldn't have to go back outside. Excellent restaurant.

Breakfast was not as good as usual. Woman working the food service was standing around doing nothing. We had to search for a clean table, and while we were eating she still didn’t clean tables after the people left.

Absolutely an excellent place to stay. Pricing was reasonable. It was very clean, convenient to the highway. They served an excellent breakfast.
