Padre South Hotel On The Beach

As a local to the Valley this is our “go to” bargain hotel and we’ve been staying here for years. The kitchenette is a great feature, bring and cook your own food. The hotel is ON THE BEACH (and chair/umbrella rentals) The only thing that isn’t so great is the pool, small and gets crowded. No bar/food but there’s a separate restaurant in the parking lot! For the price it’s a great, clean deal of a room especially for families. Rooms are not huge, balcony views of the ocean are worth it though!

Hotel was in great location and it was very clean. Enough parking with extra parking across the street. Pool was great and has its own beach access. Rooms are good not great. Overall a good place to stay for the price.

If you want to spend all day at the beach, this is a great place. They have outside restrooms, walkways. Pool and hot tub was nice.

Our stay here was great. It is right on the beach with a pool and close walking distance to shops and restaurants. Once we arrived we parked and didnt have to drive anywhere, very walkable area. It is a 2 star hotel so dont expect glam it could use some some updating but its definitely worth the money to stay here. They did have free breakfast but its only on the weekends not during the week. Pool area was nice with pool, kids pool and a very large hot tub also had cabanas with charis and lounge chairs wich could also be updated. It has outdoor shower area for when you come back up from the beach. You are required to put $100 deposit when you arrive for any damages, we got our money back but I would definitely take photos of your room when you arrive just for peace of mind so you make sure you have proof of the condition of the room upon arrival (because like i previously stated it does need updating and the rooms do have damage). Like i said i did get my money back but while i was waiting on house keeping to clear my room before I received my money back I did wonder if they might try to say the condition of the stuff in the rooms were my fault and i thought to my self i should have taken photos. We ate dinner at the restaurant next door as well as Daddys seafood Cajun kitchen both had live music and were really good. We will definitely come and stay here again due to it not being expensive, being beachfront and convenient to nearby attractions.

This hotel is right on the beach but is lacking in amenities. There is no coffee maker in your room, coffe is only available in the lobby for a few in the morning, no ice machine, the whirlpool is scalding hot at ALL times of the day & several of the pool area lounges need new fabric as they are sagging & very uncomfortable.

Able to walk to the beach. Plenty of parking. Pool is good.

My family and I stayed here this past weekend. We stayed in a partial ocean view with a full kitchen. They have a set of 4 real dishes and a few pots and pans to cook. They do not have utensils for cooking or flatware. They provide a small bottle of dish soap as well as a scrubber for dishes. Having a full fridge with freezer was a plus! The room was big enough for 4 people and we had a balcony. This was nice to hang towels and sit out & watch the fireworks they have on Tuesday & Friday. They Do Serve Breakfast on Saturdays & Sundays. The days we were there breakfast consisted of pancakes, sausage, biscuits, toast, fresh fruit, dry cereals, hot cereals, pop tarts, pastries, coffee, juice, & milk. It was enough to get you going. Beach access is Awesome. The hotel does a trail leading to the beach but it is all sand and really hard to walk in. However right next to the hotel is a boardwalk that goes straight to the beach which is awesome!! Especially if you are carrying stuff to the beach! Pool and hot tub are nice and are open till Midnight! We never encountered any problems during our stay and enjoyed everything overall. Would recommend and will return!! Thank you.

The accommodations were okay. The elevator was smooth quiet & quick. The bed pillows need to be updated - very small & uncomfortable. When we asked for extra towels since there were 3 of us we were told none were available so one of us had to dry off with just the hand towel after a shower. It's the only hotel that I've stayed in in over25 yrs that did NOT have a coffee maker in the room or at least 24 hour coffee in the lobby. Coffee was only available for a few hours in the morning and nothing available for breakfast. The beach is pretty but spend additional money for continental breakfast & coffee in your room somewhere else.

Dirty and old without any upgrades throughout the years. Not pet friendly and the balcony door was off its hinges and could not be permanently fixed without being replaced.

The good - Somewhat helpful staff. Beach access. The bad - Old old hotel, weekend continental breakfast is a joke. The Ugly- Roaches greet you when you open your room. Appliance and infrastructure falling apart in the rooms. Verdict - Never again

We booked 2 nights for our SPI vacation. Once we checked in we ended up booking 3 more nights and spent our entire vacation at Padre South. All of the staff are so friendly, the place is spotless. We had 8th floor south, our view was amazing, kitchenette had everything we needed, bed was super comfortable. The place is older, but still very functional. We were there during off season so the place was pretty much like our very own beachfront property. We hung out be the pool for 2 days and never saw another person. The walk to the beach is super close, convenient & there are showers to wash the sand off. Restaurant next door, CVS & gift shops with in a block. There is also continental breakfast on the weekends. We are definitely coming back, but next time for a much longer stay.

Very friendly staff, room was clean and stocked with towels and toiletries. Pool area was clean and had plenty of seating.

The only thing i liked was the i Loved the view from the room. But the room needs a deep cleaning. I got bedbug bites and have bad rash all over my body. Will have to make a complaint as well.

Very clean, our room 810 was spotless. Very good ocean view and easy access to the beach. Desk Clerks on top of it there 24 hours a day. Easy parking Will stay again

Broken kitchenette, dirty blankets, smelled like mildew, dirty carpets, dirty towels, just bad.

Most disgusting room ever stayed at. It had rug it was so dirty our feet would be black within seconds of walking on it. One of the beds had blood on it. Front desk was not in same page with anything. Manager very rude.

Two stars. The bed(s) were terrible. The queen bed and the pull out bed. You might as well be sleeping on springs with a little protection. Room was decently clean. I wish the beds were better and the place needed a big upgrade and then I’d change my review. Everyone was very nice, but we paid WAY too much for the beds to be as bad as they were. We didn’t want anything fancy, something on the beach with a nice bed to sleep at night and that’s why my review is only 2 stars. Easy access to the beach which was nice!

Room was okay for the price. The only complain I would have to say would be the bathroom being too small and for some reason there was a smell coming from the entrance of the room. I believe it was coming from the refrigerator. I would say the view is great. From the balcony of my room I could see the water and beaches. For that alone I would go back to the hotel. I'll probably end up getting a double bed so maybe the size of the room/bathroom could be bigger. Not a single bed like the one I reserved.

We loved the ocean view from our balcony and the easy access to the beach. Our room was nice but not great. The price for July was very good. The one bad thing was that we didn’t have WiFi in our room. We had to go to the lobby to get WiFi.

Stayed for a week on vacation. Rooms were clean but older. Great spot for the price. Right on the beach. Walking distance from a lot of shops and places to eat. Super friendly staff and would definitely stay again. They are clearly working to update the rooms judging by the sounds of construction we heard every evening

This is a nice property. Parking, however, is terrible. Our room was nice although it was on a lower floor than we had asked for and faced the next building. Also, the sliding glass door to the balcony was pretty much inoperable. With the mightiest of effort, we were able to open it a foot and squeeze through.

I loved the view of the ocean but the rooms are really outdated. The bathroom was so small that they put the vanity outside of the bathroom which was close to the smallest queen size bed I've ever seen 😳

If you’re one of those people who needs everything to be perfect, this isn’t the place for you. BUT if you are a busy family, with multiple kids, who wants a clean, big enough for the whole group to be in one room space that has “mother of dragons” shower capability, beach access, a pool, a hot tub, and an in room kitchen to save money on meal times, this IS the hotel for you! The rooms aren’t perfect. There are some areas where the cabinetry shows humidity damage, the deck needs to be repainted, the room toilets could be replaced with newer, larger versions, the showers could use a curved shower curtain rod, and there is no hair dryer in the room. None of that stuff was a huge bother to us. Only reason I can’t give 5 stars is 1) I was expecting a continental breakfast, but apparently they only do that on the weekends which left us with an extra grocery expense, and 2) the suite we had was supposed to have a queen, a full, a twin, and a double sofa bed. What we got was a full in the “master”, a full and twin in the other bedroom, and a love seat (without a pull out) in the living room. We made it work, but it would’ve been nice to have the 7 bed spaces instead of 6 for us. Even with those two things, the ability to cook our own food, using the fully equipped kitchen, still has us saying we’d stay there again.

The 1st room we were given was in poor condition as the floor tiles were torn and uneven. We were unable to close the curtains completely. The tub was nasty. A group in the next room were quite loud until about 2 in the morning. The walls seemed paper thin. We expressed our concerns to the folks at the counter and they made things right by moving us to another room. The 2nd room looked like it had been updated recently and we were quite happy with the room and the staff listening to us.

Even just a partial ocean view makes all the difference in the atmosphere of the calm serene rooms of Padre South Hotel. The front staff made check in & check out so easy and comfortable, the pool was pristine and so accessible.

This was our family’s 6 year in a row staying here for our summer beach vacation and this stay was so much better compared to times before, the beds were more comfortable, liked the bar tool addition, we always stay ocean front for the price and quality and it was super peaceful not many loud guests. Pool and jacuzzi cleaned every morning, the night before our last day my brand new sand cloud towel has fallen on the roof of the first floor and maintenance got it right away. Excellent customer service!! Will stay again just wish it was pet friendly.

The sheets were stained and, worst of all, the AC would not cool. However, once the front desk was informed and tried to fix it unsuccessfully, they promptly moved the room. The remedy was done without hesitation and with a great sense of service. The second room, by the way, was amazing in comfort, amenities, and view!

Excellent house keeping service, nice and clean. Short walk to the beach. Just the my restroom toilet was very low, not good when you have both knees replaced. I will stay again but probably request a mobility room.

Despite the negative reviews we read on yelp, we decided to take the chance and go with this hotel. Front desk was nice and helpful, our room was clean and we were offered housekeeping by the women cleaning up other rooms. Ocean view is 10/10 during the day AND at night, security is only on weekends but he was very sweet and respectful. Property is on the older side but still clean, comfortable with nice people. The pool is a decent size, going to 8ft deep with a decent size hot tub just a few feet away.

Really great place. A/C was broke and they replaced it with a brand new one in literally 5 minutes. Great staff! We did feel a bit like outsiders since probably 95% or more of the visitors were from Mexico. The rooms can be quite noisy but it is an old hotel. Otherwise, the beach is beautiful and if you're with someone you love, all the other stuff doesn't matter.

There air conditioner wasn't working and I had to wait till they fix it and only offered for me to check out around 12 then a Employee from the front desk said i was going to be charged for the extra time. The hotel is actually very nice but the customer service isn't they need more training

Elevator to pool was down the whole week. Friday amd Saturday nights there is no parking. The cleaning staff stole a brand new pack of gum. The breakfast is late and you better hurry it goes quick. I wouldn't go back even if someone paid.

From walk in to walk out, the experience was great. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this stay was beyond disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the customer service was unprofessional and indifferent. The front desk staff seemed annoyed to answer even basic questions, and we were met with attitude instead of assistance. The room itself was not ready at check-in time, and when we finally got in, it was dirty – trash in the bin, hair in the shower, and stains on the sheets. We asked to be moved, but they said no other rooms were available and offered no real apology or compensation. To make things worse, housekeeping never showed up during our stay, even after we requested it multiple times. We had to track down towels ourselves. This was not a budget stay, and for the price we paid, the experience was unacceptable. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone – save your money and go somewhere that values their guests.

Great location

It is a bit run down. No balcony furniture to sit and take in the view . Pool is very small . Walk to beach was perfect . Restaurant on site had amazing food . Rooms need updates but who is really in the room with the beach on site . Staff was nice !

The stay was nice. Woke up and walked down to the beach. Conveniently located to many attractions.

Good hotel overall. Rooms were clean and had no issues. Clean pool and jacuzzi area. Walkway to the beach needs a little clean up. A little bit disappointed that breakfast is brought out after 8:30 am. Had to check out early around 8 am and thought let’s have breakfast before we leave, we get to the lobby and no breakfast.

The room was very clean, and access to the beach was convenient . The food at the restaurant attached to the hotel was incredibly good. The very weak WiFi was disappointing.

Friendly staff and well maintained, older hotel! Only thing I have complain about is the breakfast. There were hardly any options and many of them were Walmart pastries or other non-nutritional items. Unsure whether or not that is how breakfast is typically done there, but if it’s important to you I would consider a different hotel. Aside from that, it was seriously wonderful!

For the price you can’t beat it, it’s close to the beach and has a fully stocked kitchenette, just bring the groceries. The morning breakfast was microwaved food/cereal/fruit not up there but it was suffice

I like that its easy walking distance to the beach. Personal very friendly. What i didnt like was that the restaurant thats located there closes early. They closed at 9...very inconvenience especially on a Saturday. Had to go elsewhere to eat.
