La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Salt Lake City Midvale

The front desk clerk was the nicest part of this hotel. The carpets in the hallways were disgusting, there were bags of trash in the hallways outside of doors. And the tub in the roomwas not cleaned, but the beds seemed clean. The hot tub was out of order, but my son enjoyed the pool. The pool area was not well lit and had a number of lights not working.

Smells strongly of dog urine in lobby and hallway. Doors do not bolt closed. Machines in the fitness center have cords cut off, so there not operable. Kids running down the hallway until midnight. Lady at the front desk was kind and fast

We stayed at this location specifically because when I called they said that the pool and hot tub were working. When we got there 20 minutes later they said that it was closed.

The property is torn up under construction. The pool is closed and other amenities are not available because of the construction/remodel half of the hotel is a mess!

The property is currently undergoing extensive renovation, so amenities like the gym, swimming pool, and spa are either non-functional or in very poor condition. I’d strongly recommend avoiding this place for at least the next two years until work is completed. While the rooms are spacious and the staff is courteous, the owner appears to be cutting corners and misleading guests. He claimed the nightly rate was $120, but comparable listings show it's usually in the $60–$70 range. It’s baffling that he assumes guests won’t verify this—an outright insult to their intelligence. They even tried to overcharge me beyond the agreed price. I nearly had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), but my bank assured me they would handle the dispute, so I held off. This hotel is absolutely not worth over $100 (even with taxes), especially when far better options with breakfast are available just down the road. Stay here only if you want to regret your decision.

The whole reason I stay at this La Quinta is it's pet friendly, and has a indoor hot tub. Well, the hot tub was broken and I was obviously disappointed. Professional thing would have been for the desk clerk to offer a discount at least. Rooms are decent, but it has a large homeless population around the area and hotel. Also, gets pretty bad with escorts and rif raff in hotel. But, the room was only $67 total and the free breakfast is decent too.

The section of the hotel we were in was great, it was clean, smelled fine and was well taken care of. Our room was comfortable and provided us with all the amenities we needed. We arrived 30 minutes before check-in and was told that we would need to pay $25 to check in early. The pool, although it looked clean, was unsafe to use as the area of the hotel it was in was used by drug addicts and their dealers, and they congregated around it.

Property was in disarray. Nothing was working - pool was closed, vending machines out of order, entry doors out of order. Shady activity on the premises - physically witness drug paraphernalia and usage on site. Checked out early and at the extra night as it was just not a conducive environment.

I was hoping the pool and spa was open but it was not. The room was clean and nice for the price.

There were renovations going on so you had the feeling of construction areas around the facility.

The first room I opened the door a cloud of cigarette smoke hit me in the face. 2nd room, had hair all over the bathroom, a glob of toothpaste by the bathtub. 2 blood stains on the carpet. I spoke to the front desk person, who was not happy to see me. 3rd room. Someone had broken a ball point blue pen in the bathtub. Two big spots of blue ink was slowly running down the drain. The room smelled of mold and mildew and I recommend you keep your shoes on at all times. Back at the front desk, I asked to see another room, all rooms were booked. It was getting late and I\'m beyond exhausted so I asked for cleaning supplies and I\'ll clean the second room. "you want to stay?" "I\'ll stay if I can clean the room. Please give me the cleaning supplies." The man at the front desk said he would have house keeping clean the room. I stood out side the room while house keeping cleaned. They put clean sheets on the bed, "mopped" the bathroom and sprayed air freshener directly in the heating/AC unit on the wall. I didn\'t trust the carpet, it was still dirty. So I put towels on the the floor. I checked out in the morning. I found another place to stay for the rest of my trip. The hallways were dark, the carpet was grease stained. The whole inside was not clean. The Ice, vending machine area had caked on dried lint over the vents and smelled of mildew, mold and cigarette smoke. The outside is disgusting. DO NOT STAY AT THIS La Quinta!!

Filthy room. Shower was absolutely disgusting, stained, shower head coming out of wall, toilet running all night, towels were shredded pieces of 20 year old towels. Pillows were basically socks stuffed in pillow cases. Paper thin walls with rude guests banging on walls/floors, kids screaming through the hall and constant outside noise keeping us up all night. TV in room with no ability to turn volume down to a normal level. Pool closed by health department. ****The staff was the ONLY decent part of this hotel. Very nice people.****

Roaches in our room, dried food on the floors, stains/dirt on the walls, wires that were duct taped laying on the floor, room was not stock with toilet paper, no towels at pool ad to walk to room wet, roof on pool has holes in it. Very disappointed!

Blood stains on the carpet, very run down and dirty.

The staff was very friendly, and beds/linens were nice and clean. Unfortunately the bathroom was filthy with mold behind the door, the top lock on main door was busted and the people roaming the hotel & parking lot, that are not staying there, are abundant. I should have heeded the reviews! Was thankful for the space to stay, but I learned my lesson.

Dirty hotel, rooms everything

This place was not clean. Walking to the room the hallways smelt like pee. When we got into our room it smelt like cigarette smoke in there. I just wanted to be able to take a shower but the floor of the shower was black and there was what looked like mold around the drain. When I went to finally go to bed I pulled the sheets back and there was dirt and stains all inside the bed. I checked the second bed and it seemed to be cleaner so I used that one instead. The curtains over the window were also ripped and shredded with massive holes. Do not recommend this place.

This was the most disguising place I have seen! The parking lot was full of trash and unsafe people. I was nervous to leave my car. The check in area was dark and dirty, as was the hallway. There was literally duct tape holding up wallpaper in the hall and wires hanging from the ceiling. There is no elevator and the stairwell was full of trash. Our room lights did not work. There was dirt and stains and who knows what else on the floor. The table and chairs were dirty. The bathroom outlets didn’t work. The toilet was full of mold, as was the shower. I was with my young daughter and I did not feel safe, so we found another place to stay. I told the receptionist how bad it was and she said she would refund my money but she has not done that. This place should be shut down. Do NOT stay here!

Dirty/grungy overall. Shower leaking making the room feel moist, body hair in shower, air conditioner making loud noise off/on all night, bug on the bed, general disrepair throughout the hotel.

The carpets and doors were filthy, old stains on walls and furniture and dog urine smell on the halls. People fighting and yelling after midnight. I had a terrible experience

Not worth the price charged. Felt like I was gaslit with false advertisement. Here's why... 1.The TV did not work and when it was finally addressed the 2nd night, the large TV was replaced with one that was the size of a computer monitor. 2. After a verbal request to have our room cleaned, it was not done. And when we requested to at least have some towels and coffee supplies the front desk said there were no clean towels available. How can that be? When I suggested that they borrow some from a vacant room, the answer I was given was that they didn't want to leave a potential guest (who may not even show) without towels! This is how the guests who have already paid get treated. 3. There was a dirty washcloth from a previous guest hanging on the shower rod 4. Broken luggage rack 5. Cigarette burn on tub enclosure (got to set your cig down somewhere while you are using the toilet) 6. Do you need WiFi?? Don't worry, it was graffitied on the bathroom door 7. Stains on comforter 8. And I saved the best for last! ROACH!!! We named her MaryJane!! I should be refunded for my stay!!

I did not check out . So they are lying saying there was dog poop and pee all over my room and can kept my deposit. Witch there was not.

Lights did not work, asked for queen sized beds got twin sized, holes in the shower, floor in bathtub was not supportive, outlets didnt work, shampoo bottles half empty, bathroom door did not lock, and the toliet would barely flush. Went to front desk about this issue, offered us a different room but the room they showed us was pretty much the same.

Very noisy but nice room. Slept good.

They double charged me for the room. The room smelled of urine and smoke. The bedspreads were dirty. sheets were clean but stained. I only had 2 towels in a 4 person reservation so I had to go get more towels from the front desk, one of which was stained. The tub was stained. The moulding along the floor was falling off by the desk. The heat/ac unit did not work. The first morning they did not have breakfast. There were massive stains on the carpeting. The pool smelled heavily of chlorine and was too cold for my kids to swim. (But it did not advertise it as a heated pool so that's on them I guess) I went to talk to the front desk after I found out they double charged me. One front desk person walked off and the other ignored me completely, after 5 minutes I walked away. The night desk clerk was very friendly though. He checked us in, and gave us a new key when ours mysteriously stopped working. He asked us to tell him when we were done swimming so he could lock up instead of kicking them out of the hot tub. There was a Denny's and a McDonald's within walking distance (we did not go to the Denny's) We did have someone approach us at our car, asking for money, with my kids present... We were also in the middle of getting breakfast one day, like making toast and they took the bread basket away with us standing right there. Some guy chased after them wanting some eggs. . . We stayed for 4 nights, prepaid (or I would have switched hotels) we never asked for room service.

The beds were terrible, reallt noisy, the shower didn't have handicap rails and the tub was slick. The faucet and shower head were loose

The room was nice and very clean, the rest of the establishment was worn, dirty, outdated, and loud. We could hear people walking by our door having a normal conversation but it sounded like they were in our room.

I was not given the room I reserved. The internet did not work properly, but the staff helped me fix it. The room carpet had stains. The bath tub was not solidly affixed to the floor. I will not stay at this hotel ever again.

The floor was more comfortable then the beds. My son said he felt like a twisted pretzel when he woke up the following morning, said he should of slept in the car or slept on the floor. I do apologize i dud not take any pictures.

got a room that did not have water on due to remodeling they gave us another room

Check in was great. Fast and easy. The guy at the front desk explained everything and times for breakfast and check out. Then check out was simple by clicking on the text the hotel sent me

We arrived on a Monday. On Wednesday I asked the desk for clean towels housekeeping had not been in our room. On Thursday I again asked the desk for clean towels. On Friday I asked the THIRD time for clean towels and was told they would immediately take of it. We left on Saturday. NEVER got towels. NEVER had the bed made. NEVER had the wastebaskets emptied. NEVER got more coffee. And, believe me, we NEVER left even a penny in the room for this great lack of service. I would NEVER stay at this facility again. In fact, I will be sure to tell everyone I know to avoid the entire chain.

We came for a night to getaway after having a baby. The bathroom was not clean at all, had boogers on the wall, cigarette burns on the bath and we paid $150 for an incidental fee when the room was not in the best condition at all, plus they had told us it was because we had a child with us but the child is only nine weeks old so not sure what damage a baby could do. Staff was extremely rude at check in and very unprofessional.

Homeless and people on drugs all around property. Staff is inconsiderate and incompetent. Was turned away when I tried to check in at 1:30 even though my reservation said I was able to check in 2 hours early. When I returned at 3pm I and a lobby full of people waited for the afternoon person who was late to show up. He proceeded to collect ids of people he checked in and said we would have to wait to get them returned. After 2 hours I was finally able to get my id back. My room looked like a crack house the bathroom door was broken and there were cigarette burns all over the dirt tinged tub. There was trash on the floor next to the beds. The entire hotels smells of weed and cigarettes. The indoor pool is disgusting and in a building outside of the hotel. We actually passed a prostitute in the hallway. People were loud and banging around in the hallway all night long. This is not a good place to bring your kids.

Property is disgusting, both outside and inside. Key cards given to us did not work the first time, so I had to walk from the back of the property to the front desk to get them rekeyed. No acknowledgment or apology for inconvenience from the staff. THEN the keys only worked on the outside door and not the room. Again, I walked all the way to the front desk only to be confronted with “Well, did you put them by your phone or something?” No. I did not. I was too busy walking back and forth multiple times to have time to put the keys in my pocket. Again, no apology for the inconvenience or anything. She was so very rude. Then the room - underwhelming, outdated, and not clean. Floor has not been swept. Bathtub is dirty. And the property feels very unsafe. Canceled our future reservation and am honestly still debating on whether we just walk out of here right now. Will never ever come back.

Tried to over charge us a couple of hours after we checked in. And before we even check into the hotel we was charged for our stay

The building itself was very rundown and the area seemed very very unsafe. However, the staff made this stay so much better! Front desk staff was the best customer service I’ve received in years! Could tell the guy loved his job! The house keeping staff worked so hard to keep the place clean and well stocked!!!

I had a reservation for a room with a king size bed. When I arrived I was told there was no rooms with king size beds available and was asked if a full size would be ok...unfortunately it is to small be ause my husband is 6ft.4in tall and would hang off a full size bed. The front desk lady was amazing and upgraded our room to a suite so we would have the king size bed. It's little things like that that make your stay more enjoyable.

Hot tub was not up & running, so we didn't get to do that, as planned. Hotel itself was pretty good, but surrounding area was not the best although we didn't see any homeless or other negative red flags. It's just not the best area of town, is all. Overall, I gave our stay a good rating (4). For the price, I would consider staying there again if we were ever in that area.

The rooms were very clean. It was a quiet place for the area. No issues at all.

The staff were very friendly. The property itself is not in good condition, and just feels…grimy, almost. The linens were clean and we slept well. Standard breakfast was good.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The boy thing I was nervous about was its location next to another hotel which looked very sketchy and I saw a police car there every day of my 4 day stay. I also enjoyed the pool, but it’s in an enclosed building which makes it very hot in an already hot temperature day. Some fans or cooling system would have been nice. It also took a long time for the hot water in the bathroom to come in. The AC system was top notch, though.

Best stay option with good continental breakfast in between city and airport.

Liked the price and location.

We stayed one night as we were passing through. The rooms were standard, nothing special. The hallway wasn't too clean and the morning breakfast was severely lacking, with old looking hard boiled eggs and sausage patties. There was no yogurt and few other choices We skipped breakfast and ate at a local fast food.establishment. There was a shady motel nextdoor with people loitering in the parking lot. I was concerned our car would be broken into, but fortunately I parked in front of the lobby and didn't have any issues. If you are just looking for shelter for the night then it might be ok for you.

Next door to a former motel that is not the best area.

Close to Midvale Bus Station. Convenient for taking the bus to ski resorts. Lots of homeless and drug addicts living in and around the hotel. Very dirty. Okay breakfast, great coffee. Great bed.

Staff was well-meaning, but seemed like they were on their heels. Property was not very clean. Breakfast was a bright spot. Easy and hot breakfast was good.

The staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful as well as professional. The bedding and room condition seem very worn down and much needed renovation. The bed mattress was very cupped and not flat it was in much need of replacement. When I asked about exchanging the room I was given the option but it was not a convenient location where I could have my vehicle close by. Therefore I declined the Exchange and stayed where in the original room. The hot tub was nice, but with excessive chlorine. To the point where it was uncomfortable to use, it burned my eyes and nasal passage.The pool facility was run down and appeared to be molded on the ceiling. There was a lot of noise in the hallways with barking dogs at odd hours of the night. The breakfast area was stocked with a variety of foods but with limited seating.

Room was ok. Nothing really stuck out for the shape it was in. Just seemed old even though I think the remodeled. They were late getting breakfast ready. Toaster and waffle maker were having issues, they worked but not right. Coffee and juice didn’t work at all and the girl setting up seemed completely clueless and inexperienced. Didn’t even speak English. Tables were dirty and we were first in the area.

Only complaint was the wifi going out and being down a few times. Everything else was fantastic, pool and hottub were great, and whoever is making the breakfast muffins is doing a great job.

Our stay was ok, very average. Nothing was wow, breakfast, was the most basic if that is what you want to call it.
