Big Meadow is rustic luxury in a beautiful setting. Much like the other lodges/inns along the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway, it offers a great place to land for a few days to hike, explore or just take in the majesty of the Shendandoah's. The rooms are comfortable set among the trees and property. The dining options are a good value. You can get breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks in a variety of ways. The people were very friendly and accommodating. It was just a terrific place to unwind and unplug (wi-fi and internet are almost non-existent in the rooms but you can catch up, if you must, in the lodge and the TV only gets 11 channels). For us, it was EXACTLY what we were looking for.

Nice woke us up twice during the middle of the night. One was snacking and opened up our trail mix. And another one got caught in our garbage can and then was making all kinds of noise in the middle of the night.

Some rooms have a/c, some don’t. Ours didn’t. It was cool enough at night with windows open, but took a while to cool off with fan. Overall a nice facility and good location in the park. Didn’t have to leave the park and drive 35-50 miles one way to find a place to stay, then drive back the next day.

It was nice to see the sunset along with family. The park was too good to spend timeout. Staying in this hotel was the right choice as I was traveling from far. Room was neat and clean, as it is inside forest be aware of some insects to enter as guests :). We experienced it but it was ok.
