This is an historic hotel with a great restaurant and good staff. Comfortable beds. The elevator is one that the staff has to operate for you, so i found myself taking the stairs all the time. Amenities like ice machines, vending, etc are a little more challenging. If you walk down to the desk, they will happily get you a bucket of ice and there are some things for purchase but thats it. Late night dining and drinking in Middlebury are pretty slim to non-existant especially during non school days. Still if you want a charming but quaint hotel, this is the best in town.

Convenient and well kept college inn. The free, spacious parking is muchappreciated. The lobby has a comforting New England Inn vibe. Love Morgan's Tavern. Highly recommend the Vermont Cheddar omelet, you will enjoy the authenticity of the sharp cheddar!

Pro: Fantastic Breakfast, attentive staff, clean, rocking chairs on porch, nice area to walk. Charming old elevator. Comfy bed. Windows open easily and even bathroom has one. Has a bathtub great for tired feet! Some nice stores nearby. Blackout window treatments. Con: Noise from traffic circle just outside inn, elevator cannot be called at will - must be run by staff member. Fine from lobby but less convenient from other floors. Alternative is lots of stairs up to your room. No doorman. Restaurant not open for dinner every night (in June) and many others in town aren’t either. No hair conditioner.

Wonderful historic inn in a picturesque college town with iconic covered wooden bridges nearby. Great location within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Book beautifully furnished room in the main building (not the annex) and enjoy a drink sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch. Didn't eat in the restaurant, but thoroughly enjoyed my brief stay. Highly recommend this awesome hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was nice too. Hotel is interesting with the pictures on the walls and antique furniture etc. Location is great. Lots of restaurants in walking distance and a Shaws grocery store in walking distance as well. Middlebury College is a lovely school.

I have stayed at this inn many times before, but this was my first post-Covid visit. I was disappointed to see that there does not appear to have been any upkeep or improvements to the property during the time I have been away. What was once sort of quirky has become run-down. Our room's carpet was musty and moist. The three showers I took were an adventure in extreme hot and cold alternating with no effort on my part. And why is the coffee in the lobby from Seattle rather than Vermont? I hope somebody breathes new life into this hotel, but I'll be looking elsewhere for my next trip to this area.

I booked a room for my family thinking we would be staying in the Middlebury Inn, based on the pictures. Instead, we were put in an adjacent motel room in the back of the parking lot near the staff cigarette break area. The room smelled musty and not very clean when we entered, and when we turned on the AC to get some fresh air, it smelled of mold. We couldn't open the windows because of the cigarette smell from outside. My daughter has asthma and breathing issues, so I was concerned that the AC coming on and off would trigger that. It really needs to be cleaned. Luckily, we found a great place to eat and a playground within walking distance, so we only had to sleep in the room. I wouldn't have been so disappointed if I had paid maybe $150 for a motel, but this was $350 for a classic inn (which we didn't get). The breakfast buffet the next morning was delicious, thank goodness.

It’s a great hotel, I really enjoyed my stay! The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff is very friendly! However, note that the wifi doesn’t work that well in the rooms (one of the receptionist explained that because the walls are so thick the signal is weak), also there isn’t a desk in the room (I planned to have a Zoom meeting during the visit and it couldn’t happen, obviously…)

A cute inn in a cute small town. I stayed in the Annex with my husband and dog. It was outdated but clean. The annex is a separate building behind the inn and doesn’t have any of the historic amenities or antiques. Had some minor issues with our room key. They’re pretty dog friendly and gave my dog a ziplock bag with some milk bone treats. They also included a blanket for the dog to use during our stay. Dogs are allowed in the lobby of the main inn for check in but nowhere else in the main part. Appreciated that the hotel lets you leave dogs alone in the room. There’s a small dog waste trash can by the annex but it was almost impossible to access in the snow. There’s a gorgeous dog park near by we loved. The room itself was small with a weird layout. A tiny tv was on a dresser but you couldn’t watch it from either the couch or bed comfortably. The shower curtain liner in the bathroom was terrible and got drenched with each shower. Had to ask for more towels. The restaurant on site is expensive but pretty good - only had them for dinner one night because of their hours. There’s not many restaurant options nearby but loved Little Seed Coffee and Haymaker Buns. The town itself is very walkable even in the snow.

Overall, the property and location were excellent. The room, although spacious and well-appointed was worn. The room could use some updating. Also, the room smelled moldy/musty. No doubt the odor was emanating from the rug and, perhaps, the upholstered furniture. The mattress on the bed sagged in the middle - it should be replaced

No wifi in our room. Had to walk to a different building to get wifi and this is a known problem by the hotel. Since we were out of our own country we did not have cell service so this was a huge inconvenience and we thought about changing hotels. Room was not in the historic building so that was disappointing

The oldest continuously operating hotel in the States but it doesn’t seem that way. The lobby is spacious, the staff friendly and helpful. The rooms are good sized, TV, WiFi, A/C, soft but comfy beds. We stayed in the original part of the hotel, but they also have newer buildings in back. There is a restaurant off the lobby but we only had brunch there. The food was fine. Clean rooms but the walls are a little thin, we could hear the water running in the bathroom next to our room. A good place to stay.

I have stayed at the Middlebury Inn many times over the years and I love this historic Inn, but recently the quality of the experience has been slipping. The front desk staff was not friendly or welcoming, in fact, he rarely looked up from his desk where he sat. For such a beautiful and perfectly located Inn, not much effort has been taken to make the experience of staying there a unique one. From the cheap, wrapped disposable cups they put in the rooms to the lukewarm coffee they serve in the morning, I felt a little let down this time and wondered if maybe next time I would try the Courtyard next time I am in Middlebury.

Lovely hotel, conveniently located within walking distance to the downtown area. The restaurant was open for breakfast but closed for lunch and dinner. Breakfast options and food was delicious and plated beautifully. We would have loved to see what they offer for the other meals. One of our favorite hotels on our trip across multiple states to see the fall colors. We would stay here again and highly recommended it to others.

The breakfast was excellent though you must order early - count on 30 minutes for a table of three. Four other families were also staying to visit the college and we all scrambled to arrive on time.

Commercial property , not particularly friendly. Many areas roped off not accessible. No dinner service on Sundays and Mondays. No breakfast or lunch service on Saturdays and Sundays only brunch. Don't worry though they give you a list of restaurants that you can drive to, like I haven't been driving for hours to get here, thanks. Location is central town next to major roads. At least you can get a cup of coffee when you trot down to lobby in morning. All show and no go. Would not recommend.

This inn was great! I loved all the historical pieces that are shown around the inn. It is close enough to be able to walk to all the little shops and cafes in town. The staff were wonderful and super friendly. The food in the restaurant was amazing!

The rooms were clean and charming. Just what you want in an historic hotel. It was a little bit difficult regulating the room temperature. And in the morning, the shower was warm enough to be OK, but not really hot. I would have appreciated hotter water on a cold November morning! The restaurant is a whole other story. My advice--Do not eat there! They were crowded and there was not enough staff to accomodate the diners on a Sunday holiday weekend morning. They should have done better. One of our party needed something prepared differently because of food allergies, and when her dish finally arrived the waitress shoved it in front of her with a loud bang. No apologies. I drink tea and it arrived as a thick coffee mug (tea drinkers will understand that we do not enjoy tea out of thick mugs) filled with hot water and a pathetic choice of teabags in a little dish. I finally found a teabag that was tolerable, and when I later requested more hot water, my boyfriend had to finally get up and get it for me. All in all, a miserable brunch. And we weren't the only ones who were unhappy!
