SureStay Hotel by Best Western Ellensburg

Clean but dated. The poor guy working the desk by himself had a back log of people due to issues with one persons reservation. There was not a coffee maker in the room even though the website said there was supposed to be. One reason were booked the room was because it had free breakfast. Breakfast was muffins, apples, bananas, biscuits and gravy. The coffee had been sitting there a while and was barely warm. We ended up getting coffee and breakfast sandwiches from Starbucks. We were only there a short amount of time so sleeping was fine, other than the youth baseball team boys running down the hallways late at night making noise. Not the hotels fault though. The hotel was not terrible but nothing special. Next time I’ll pay a little bit more and stay elsewhere though.

The room didn’t feel clean, was dirty and dusty had a strong smell of meldew. The lamp was plugged into a power strip but was left unplugged under the bed and I wasn’t able to reach it so didn’t get to use bedside lamp

The breakfast menu was surprisingly excellent. I mean, this was an older college town hotel. But they had hot biscuits and gravy, clean hot waffle iron, packaged boiled eggs, fresh juice, a very clean eating area, and no helicopter personnel. I was very pleased to have those biscuits and gravy!

Although the room was basic and the decor was outdated (1970’s style,) the room was clean which is a top priority for me. Breakfast was carb heavy (biscuits and gravy, bagels, muffins, oatmeal) with no fruit, which didn’t work for us, but others seemed to be enjoying it. For a one night stay passing through Ellensburg the Sure Stay was fine, the staff were friendly, and the price was great!

The smell of the rooms was unbearable. I opened the door to the first room and I was stopped in my tracks because of the smell. The guy at the front was kind enough to move me to a different room but it was just as bad. I opened the window and left. Came back 45 minutes later and it was still unbearable. I grabbed my bags and drove home to Seattle. It was non-refundable so I ate the $220 but there's no way that I could stay there.
