This is a very nice hotel right on the river. Step out the door and your on a multi use path. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the outdoor space and pool are hard to beat. Perfect for families. There is a restaurant on site if you want an easy and good food option.

Several people were locked out of their rooms because of lack of maintenance. The batteries were not changed in the card reader which made it frustrating at times. The pool area wasn’t cleaned up and I myself picked up cucumbers and random stuff. People left from the night before meanwhile maintenance is smoking cigarettes on the trail. This won’t stop us from staying there. We love the hotel but it just needs a few things fixed. We’ll see you again in September.

This hotel is very long, and as far as I know, there's only one elevator, so if you don’t want to haul all your luggage up stairs, or down a super long hallway, request a room on the bottom floor. Other than that, the hotel does have a playground area and a very nice pool and hot tub.

Kids pool large and 2' to 4', but good for parents or older kids to cool off. Adult pool being refurbished with infinity and salt water pool, which will be something to look forward to. Small business rooms and celebrations along with ballrooms seemed occupied on Sat. Walk to convention center.

The property was nice and clean. The pool was very nice. The carpet in the room was so dirty that it left black dirt all over our bare feet. It didn’t look dirty but it was. Not sure why it was so dirty. Sheets and towels were clean. House keeping really was lame. You had to request service but only after three days. When I requested it, they brought us towels but didn’t take out any of the trash.

The rooms were nice and mainly clean. The only issue I had with both of the rooms we had was there was a strong musty mildew odor. In fact it was quite overwhelming. I know it was from the A/C units as this is something I’ve experienced before at other hotels. If the A/C’s filters are cleaned regularly and the unit is not cleaned it will take on a damp musty smell just like I experienced. Overall the property is nice with very good service, but management needs to take notice of this issue immediately or the hotel will start to lose business.

The girl at check-in was rude and they charged me a $75 hold for incidentals which I was never told about. She said "well, you booked on Expedia so you should have seen it. It was in fine print!" I didn't even book on Expedia, I booked on hotels.com. The room was dirty. The floor-after walking on it for an hour in the room my feet were black & I had to wash my grandson's feet three times before he left the hotel in 3 hours. There were things already on the towels and sheets like somebody had already stayed in there and use them. After I checked out and told them the issues, they said they were going to discount me 20%, but they discounted me less than that after playing in my account and deducting and then the putting back money and I had already been charged at that point!

Staff was great. Very friendly and helpful. Room location was great, right on the river. Room was clean but did have a hint of a musty smell though. Not real noticeable. All in all, a nice overnight stay.

This property was OK. I think I was disappointed because I had booked a riverside view room and what I got was a pool side room. I was fortunate enough to be able to listen to screaming kids and loud ass music for the duration of my two nights there. They do claim there’s quiet hours, but nobody seems to adhere to that the other odd thing that I ran into is at 4 PM I received a text message inquiring about how smoothly my check-in went and I had yet to check in. Found it super awkward and uncomfortable created unnecessary stress thinking my room was given away and was told oh they just get sent out arbitrarily. I definitely will not return.

Location to downtown Spokane is excellent and walkable. View and location next to the river is beautiful. Our room however, was near lobby and quite noisy. Between the prom on Saturday night and the maintenance/employee rooms across the hall, it was really loud in our room. No consideration that people were might be trying to sleep in our room. This made our stay less than ideal. I would stay again but more choosy on our room location.

Riverside does not mean river view so don’t bother paying more for what you expect to be a river view. Our room had a view of the wall from the building near us. We called to ask for another room but were told that even if they give us another room, they don’t know if it has a view. This did not seem genuine as staff should know this information. Also, the walls are paper thin and our children could hear every word that the adults in the room next to us were saying, which was unfortunate.

It was very nice, great price vs competition. The reason I gave it 4 stars was the shower, hot water. It would fluctuate between correct water temp then all of a sudden get scalding hot without me changing anything myself. Then I would be forced to change, it would go ice cold, then scalding hot. Never back to optimum temp.

When checking in I was told by the clerk that my reservation had been canceled by Expedia. I have used hotels.com for many years and have never had anything like this happen before. I had already paid for my stay through hotels.com and had to pay it again to be able to stay. Not a great experience, however, I was able to reach someone at hotels.com quickly and he was able to get my refund process started. I still don’t know why my reservation was cancelled, whether the error was by the hotel or Expedia, but our stay ended up working out ok. Other than this mess, my only other complaint is that there were 2 very uncomfortable chairs in our room and no table. This room was of sufficient size to accommodate a comfortable chair with an ottoman and a nice desk chair rather than the awful chairs that were in there.

The day staff was excellent, the night staff was rude and acted like I was bothering him with simple questions. The original Ruby hotel downtown is way better, it has free breakfast, soundproof rooms and is cheaper by at least $20.

We tried to eat at the Osprey Restaurant. After sitting at a table for 20 minutes we had not seen a waitress. We left. We saw a woman given a table outside but there was no chair. She had to get a chair from a stack. One worker saw her but did not help her. Both these things are totally unacceptable!

Property is in excellent condition, including the grounds which are unusually well maintained. The problem here, and it is significant, is that it is severely understaffed. There was a single person handling check-ins and she was handling the phone as well as checking people in. The restaurant had a long waiting line. I went to the bar to use my complimentary drink voucher and after sitting ten minutes at the bar the bartender hadn’t even made eye contact with me, he was so busy rushing around making drinks. Everybody was working hard, there was not a problem with people standing around doing nothing, there were simply not enough staff to run the operation. I felt sorry for them. When I got to my room I discovered that I had received a double bed room instead of the king size bed I had reserved. There was no point talking about correcting the mistake because of how busy the check-in person was. So my feelings are very mixed, the faculty is in great shape, the staff is hard working, but the staffing problem means that if there are any problems to address you will likely be out of luck, there simply isn’t staffing capacity to deal with the unexpected. This is not how a hospitality business should be run. I would think twice about staying here again.
Property is in excellent condition, including the grounds which are unusually well maintained. The problem here, and it is significant, is that it is severely understaffed. There was a single person handling check-ins and she was handling the phone as well as checking people in. The restaurant had a long waiting line. I went to the bar to use my complimentary drink voucher and after sitting ten minutes at the bar the bartender hadn’t even made eye contact with me, he was so busy rushing around making drinks. Everybody was working hard, there was not a problem with people standing around doing nothing, there were simply not enough staff to run the operation. I felt sorry for them. When I got to my room I discovered that I had received a double bed room instead of the king size bed I had reserved. There was no point talking about correcting the mistake because of how busy the check-in person was. So my feelings are very mixed, the faculty is in great shape, the staff is hard working, but the staffing problem means that if there are any problems to address you will likely be out of luck, there simply isn’t staffing capacity to deal with the unexpected. This is not how a hospitality business should be run. I would think twice about staying here again.

More than we could ask for in a one night stay. The hotel is right on the river walk. After arriving we walked downstream to the upper and lower falls, and back through the river park. In the morning we went upstream through the 3 universities. The room was very nice. The restaurant was good (not great) and very convenient, right on the river. There is a large pool and hot tub that we took advantage of. Staff were great, very friendly and attentive. We'll defintely stay there again.

But... if you get much more than a block away from the hotel, things go downhill. Thankfully, the hotel keeps anything from becoming a problem on their property.

The hotel is great - clean, well maintained, and with a friendly and efficient staff. The grounds are immaculate, and there is a beautiful, peaceful riverwalk behind the hotel. The only issue is that the city of Spokane has some very obvious problems that they need to address. These make going more than a block or so away from the hotel interesting, and not in a good way. But there are no issues at the hotel or on the grounds, so your stay is pretty worry free. If you need a place to lay your head in Spokane, Ruby River Hotel is a pretty good choice.

We stayed here last year to attend to personal business in Spokane and chose to return this year. Rooms both times were spotless with tasteful, modern decor. Front desk staff person was super helpful, efficient and accommodating offering me choices of available rooms upon my arrival. Lovely location along the riverfront. We went to the onsite restaurant, The Osprey, for breakfast. Outdoor seating option along the riverfront was nice. Unfortunately, service wasn’t up to par that morning. Maybe the server was new. It appeared other tables were experiencing issues, too. After bringing it to another staff member’s attention another server arrived at our table and service vastly improved. Food was fine and plentiful but very average overall. There was no barista that day so no espresso drinks could be ordered from the menu.

The chef in the kitchen was very helpful when we ordered smoked barbecue from there amazing barbecue smokers. Mike was gracious and went beyond the gold standard of customer service he provided ice packs, packing of all the food for a 4 hour road trip to the family gathering. The barbecue ribs, chicken, baked beans and Mac and cheese was a big hit with whole family! Thanks Mike for your passion to cook for others it is obvious.

We tried to eat at the Osprey Restaurant. After sitting at a table for 20 minutes we had not seen a waitress. We left. We saw a woman given a table outside but there was no chair. She had to get a chair from a stack. One worker saw her but did not help her. Both these things are totally unacceptable!

Enjoyed seeing the historical pictures posted on the outside walls and the quotes painted on the inside walls. The Osprey Restaurant has sufficient menu options. Food is very good. Outdoor seating is very nice and includes a lovely view of the river. There is access to a walking path along the river and can also see kyaks and paddle boats.

The hotel and staff were excellent. We were able to walk to our play and leave the car there and that was very convenient. However we went tp the bar to grab a light supper and had problems. The gal who sat us said she would send a server over, one never came. I went and talked to the bartender and explained the situation and he assured me he would get us a server. After half an hour of being totally ignored, we left! We went to the restaurant explained the situation again and asked them if we could get waited on, YES! We had a lovely young lady, Sarah, who took care of us. The next day , on our way to the play, we had almost the same situation. The gal took our order and then disappeared! She didn’t deliver our food, she didn’t check on us, and we couldn’t find her to get our bill! We explained to a different waitress that we wanted our bill so we could pay and get to our play. She was finally able to find our slip and took care of us. Thank you! The hotel itself is beautiful and clean and the staff is super. We endured a lot of frustration in our dealings with the bar/ restaurant. Sarah was an excellent waitress and I am sorry I didn’t get the name of the gal who helped us out on Sunday.

The hotel itself was good and front desk staff were amazing! The bar/restaurant customer service on the other hand was a different story (with the exception of our waitress when we came for breakfast). 3 different times we were treated like we were annoying or ignored when approaching the host desk to get a table or ask a question about the coffee bar. If we stay again, we will not be visiting the restaurant/bar.

We stayed at this hotel previously so we decided to book again. Because it was a special occasion and we had family coming to town who all also stayed here, we booked the poolside more expensive rooms. One of the sliding doors to the pool wasn’t working and malfunctioned the entire stay. They only help that the front desk could offer us was to unplug it and plug it back in. The door kept opening automatically letting our dog out several times. Upon check-in, we asked if our dog could be at the pool with us and we were told yes. Then at the end of our second evening the security guard on duty lectured us about having our dog out by the pool and when we told him that the front desk told us we could, he continued to argue with us and tell us it wasn’t allowed. We saw at least 5 other dogs poolside that day. We couldn’t leave our dog in the room by herself we couldn’t have our dog by the pool, we would have had to sit in the room with the dog the entire stay. If you're planning on bringing your dog, I wouldn’t. Then we got the bills and had two different charges. One had a pet fee of $25 per night. The other had a pet fee of $50 per night and they were the same type of room. When we requested to stay an additional night, we had to move rooms, which was total chaos because of a miscommunication between housekeeping and the front desk. The coffee machine didn’t work, and just trying to get a hold of the front desk to let them know was a 30 min hold. I won’t be returning.
