Irma Hotel

The Irma Hotel in Cody, Wyoming is always a chosen place to stay when there. Historical, clean, convenient, and haunted. We stayed in the newer area, and the room was extremely comfortable! Nice bed, thick carpeting, large bathroom with deep tub, and nice HOT water. The 1st night of our 2 night stay, was horribly noisy. There is a old fashioned steam heater in the room, and it clanged and banged ALL NIGHT long. I used ear plugs and pillows, and still heard the clanging. The 2nd night, I decided to try and turn off the heater (there is also a electric wall heater, so wasn't sure this one was actually connected since it looked like an antique). I turned the white knob and amazingling the noise stopped and didn't happen the 2nd night. However the traffic noise was worse on Friday night than on Thursday night. The room on the 3rd floor newer area is exceptionally comfortable. And easy to loan luggage upstairs (did not see elevators). Parking convenient, and the food in the restaurant is exceptional! Walking the streets of Cody was a terrific experience too, and the Irma is in a perfect location You can even walk to the Buffalo Bill HIstorical Museum. Dogs are not welcome - unless they are service dogs, and we had one. Since I needed to walk my dog a couple times - it was a perfect area for walk and easy to take care of "Tammy" Thank you to the Irma for maintaining the historical aspects and good service.

This is a beautiful historic hotel. The front porch is a wonderful place to hang out and have a bite to eat and a drink. The wait staff were great. Thursday night band was wonderful.

It is a beautiful, old hotel, representing the early days of the wild west. Attached is a great dining area and bar....also, some live music.

Not easy parking and no elevator. I had my senior asthmatic friend with me who struggled with the altitude and stairs. Luggage was a pain due to parking and stairs.

What a great old hotel in the heart of Cody! On our bucket list to stay here. Rooms are big and comfortable (love the "old style" commodes!) and period touches. No elevator so if stairs are an issue ask for 1st floor room. The Dining room is wonderful and the prime rib absolutely excellent! Had reserved front row seats courtesy of the hotel at the gun fight re-enactment out front of the hotel. Had a delightful stay!

Beautiful vintage hotel, very elegant and nostalgic; no elevator was somewhat a problem.

Fun, historic hotel in a great location in the heart of town. However, the property is pretty worn and tired. Carpet in the hallways was dirty and worn looking, marks on the walls, dirty window shades in the room, mattress was sagging and due to be replaced, cheap bed linens, parking lot was trashy. We were there during high tourist season, but it still felt overpriced for the quality of the experience.

If you are going for the “historical / interesting “ vibe. This is it. Very cool in those areas. But as far as a hotel. It is like staying in a museum. With actual antiques as part of the facilities. Sinks. Toilet. Old tub with full 360 shower curtain drape thingy. Haha. It was pretty cool though. Wierd smells. Wierd sounds. Pigeons slept on the window sill Lots of creaking and such all night. The bar downstairs is lively with the local crowd and again very “interesting decor” and history. Staff is friendly. Towels and sheets were clean. Parking was wierd. The guy at check in said to just “ park wherever ! They don’t enforce the parking laws here “. Hahaha. Good luck and have fun. It is right downtown. Walking distance from all there is to see and do!

Loved staying in this historic hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean and perfect for our travel plans (just passing through for one night!) The decor was amazing, and having the restaurant right there for dinner/breakfast was convenient. Every staff member was friendly! I would highly recommend staying here!

Tub had hair in it. Lady at checkout was extremely rude.

The hotel is in a great location but the room was a little musty

we had room on first floor....right next to parking lot. Motorcycles and diesels all night. this hotel is old, but needs updating, disgraceful. Filthy carpets everywhere, super low toilets and wall paper that is falling off the walls.

If you want an authenticate place to stay from the early 1900's then the Irma is your place. It was OK. Nothing had been updated. They are going for the authenticate look and feel. Housekeeping would only give us one wash cloth when it was clear there was more than one person staying in the room. Toilet paper was hard to come by even if our roll was about out, no new rolls were left for our use. We could clearly tell that our sink was not cleaned for the entirety of our stay. It was not the worst place we have stayed but by far not the best.

The entire experience was Unique. Glad we stayed there but will not return. The bar was the best. Great prices and Great staff... The restaurant was good and staff great. The room was just OK. It's an old hotel so I wasn't expecting anything fancy or new. Housekeeping never came to our room. (we stayed 2 nights) I put out the door sign and also asked the girls in the hallway for fresh towels. Nothing was done when we came back 12 hours later. No new towels, No bed made up, No toilet paper. Nothing. In my opinion,, for the price of the room, This should have been done . I did mention this at check out and the person really didn't care and didn't have anything to say..... I would also warn anyone who stays here about the steep stairs. All rooms are on 3rd floor and there is no elevator. 19 stairs could be a challenge for some people hauling up their suitcases ... We helped a few older peeps that needed help. Sad the Hotel did not offer help when they checked in.

Great historical hotel, excellent location in the middle of Main Street. Very close to shopping and dining. We ate at the restaurant, great food and value for money. The room was excellent, set in the period of the old west. Great size bed, comfortable and clean. We had a suite so had really three rooms. Very well appointed and maintained. Got a somewhat noisy at night due to the bar below, but not loud enough to stop us from sleeping. Overall we would recommend staying here.

Am glad to have stayed at the Irma to try it for the historical significance and proximity to the event we were attending… very loud, room temp was hot with a window unit, blocked by the TV stand that we had to move to feel any air, which then blocked entry to the bathroom… The buffet was great, and the horse auction was fun!

Lovely old hotel. The rooms were huge and there's a massive old dining space and bar on the first floor with an unlimited prime rib buffet. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed. Right in the center of downtown so you can walk to everything, but they also had free parking right next to the building. It is an old creaky building though and you will hear whenever someone leaves their room, especially if they're talking in the hallways as well. There was a firefighter convention in town that night and it was obvious that they all had somewhere to be at 7:30 am because we were woken about by about a dozen people filtering into the hallways at that time.

As awesome as the hotel was, our room had no windows and the air conditioning did not work. We called about it and was told to turn it off and wait 30 minutes and turn it back on. We did this and it never did work. For the amount of money we spent on the night stay plus dinner and breakfast, air conditioning would have been nice. It is a beautiful hotel but the air conditioning really needs to be fixed.

Rock hard BED.

The property is an old hotel that has a lot of charm. The room we had was on the Main Street so it was a bit noisy. The bar and restaurant were very nice and the food was decent but not great. The pillows were not high quality so a bit uncomfortable to sleep on. The convenience is great and if you like history you will enjoy the IRMA.

Historic Buffalo Bill suite. Nice couch to watch tv on. Old timey shower/toliet with pull chain. A/c unit in living area. We kept fan on and door open to living room to cool the bedroom down. Antique furnishings. Great location to walk to everything. Yes they have a restaurant dinner buffet. Did not try. They also serve breakfast, but was too late for us. They soon will be opening a half hour early I was told. You can walk to the Buffalo Bill info center and museum. We also went to the chuck wagon show with dinner. It was okay.

Fun stay with a real old-west vibe (even down to the smell). Room was comfy but dark, and the bathroom definitely felt outdated, though that’s part of the charm and why you book here. A bit touristy, but great for a one-night experience. Reception could be more attentive. Location is excellent, right in central Cody. No ghosts spotted!

Fantastic historic hotel. Cool place to stay if you want to learn about the old West. The cherry wood bar was a gift to Buffalo Bill from Queen Victoria, and the rest of the hotel is filled with great memorabilia from the era. Breakfast was fantastic and plentiful. Overall, it's a bit more expensive, but worth it to stay in such a unique place. (Front desk staff could be a bit more welcoming though.)

We arrived at the hotel and ate at the restaurant which was really great but the hotel staff exceeded customer service, my wife recently had a severe ankle sprain so she is learning to walk again and couldn't make it up the stairs but the man opened up the elevator for us so I wouldn't have to carry her, thank yall!!

The front desk clerk was very rude and abrasive. Wasn’t helpful at all. Almost ruined the stay. I will never go back

Hotel experience for the history was fun. Its a very busy place and check in took a bit due to the staff were also trying to run the restaurant. Food in the restaurant was pretty disappointing.

The friendliness staff and so helpful! Beautiful hotel. Yummy breakfast buffet. Loved every minute of my stay.

This is a historic hotel, very charming. Our room was very small & expensive. You pay for the atmosphere. Buffalo Bill Cody built this hotel & named it after his youngest daughter. There is a restaurant downstairs. The hotel is right in the heart of downtown. Lots of shops lining the streets.

We enjoyed the stay. It is an old hotel so features are old. Very busy place in the summer. Everything is in walking distance. trolly tour ride is right there.

Great location and authentic feel of the old west. Only significant issue was lack of an elevator. We were traveling from Florida with a party of four including two kids. Had to make several trips up and down the stairs to get bags situated.

This is a historic property so with that comes some quirks. The floors creak, the street noise is present and the clawfoot tub is not for the mobility impaired. But it is quaint, filled with interesting pictures and artifacts and definitely give you the feel of the old west. The location is worth the quirks for sure.

We liked staying at The Irma, mostly because of its history and location. The room was upgraded, roomy and clean. The dining room was very busy, telling us the locals must like the food, so we had dinner there, Prime Rib buffet! Would stay there again if we visit Cody

The hotel has so much history and it was fun staying there. The restaurant was great, highly recommend the prime rib.

Food options were great. Everything from appetizers to entrees to the ginormous buffet. Beds were OK but a bit soft for my comfort.

It was my first time exploring Cody as a solo female traveller and HAD to stay here. It was overall lovely and a must do if you're inspired by the historic old west. Check in was quick and easy although the member of staff seemed less enthusiastic about my arrival. I stayed in the Vern Spencer room, a very charming and historic room. It was larger than I expected and was super clean. It even had a large smart TV and good wi-fi which I was not expecting . I also felt very safe here (and in Cody) which is a major plus when travelling alone. The food downstairs however left a little more to be desired. I opted for the prime rib (an Irma speciality) it came with an assortment of sides which were great, but the prime rib itself arrived luke warm. Not bad but still could have been better. I went for the Chicken Steak for breakfast the next morning and it was lovely all except the chicken steak itself. It was almost a mash up of processed dark meat and only tasted of oil. So left that but gladly ate the rest (Thick sourdough toast, hash browns and eggs) Its a shame, the sides they seem to get perfect but they stumble at the meat products. But the service on both those occasions was always 10/10 and the dessert was great too. All in all I would recommend this hotel.

The dinner buffet was mediocre. Everything else was an absolute historical experience.

It is aged and you can tell it. The room was clean, but the staff was horrible. Do not eat in the restaurant!!! The buffet was cold and was not good. The prime rib was just okay. They overcharged us quit a bit and then when we pointed it out, she said the computer made a mistake and laughed it off. Will not stay again and will not recommend!
