Nice resort. Going through renovations, so many of the rooms and resort properties were outdated. The food was just okay from a quality standpoint, but there were lots of choices on the buffet. Entertainment needed to engage the guests more and build more excitement. Overall, the resort is pleasant and the beach views are beautiful. The grounds are well kept and the staff was helpful and friendly. Looking forward to returning when the renovations are complete.

This was by far one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed! The hotel itself is old and mold infected. The elevator in building 2 wasn’t working had to use the mold infested stairs. The pool closes at 6pm during summer hours. The bars don’t open until 9am, there’s only 1 pool for the entire resort. There wasn’t much entertainment during the day. The buffet is completely open birds were flying in and eating off the food. All the liquor is bottom self. You have to be a time share member to get a decent liquor. The restaurant wouldn’t let you try more than 1 meal even though it was supposed to be all-inclusive. The quality of the rooms are so poor, floors are so dirty. Mold around shower. Hallways are dirty the entire property needs to be shut down! Absolutely the worst place I’ve ever stayed. All together it’s ran down! Staff was amazing and very accommodating to try and make it a pleasant stay but if I could give this place a -10 I would.

The rooms/bathrooms need a major makeover. The adult pool and bar were closed and we were not notified before we arrived. We paid for the Privilege Garden Rooms. Cats were walking around all day and night and some of the guests were feeding them. “Big problem”. The bars had limited drinks and no mix to make the Bob Marley drinks for a few days’ music in the nightclub sucked but the bartender was great. The best restaurant is BLOVED, they cook the food when you order “ French Toast, Shrimp Taco, Ribs, ox tails were awesome. Mamma Mia salmon was great also. The volleyball net is setup wrong in the pool, but we enjoyed playing. The pool table needs to be replaced. The staff in that area was on her phone and we asked her questions and no reply.

Very relaxed resort. The beach is amazing (bring your own snorkel equipment). Not many extra activities aside from a band for a little bit at night and a session of water aerobics, and everything quiets down by 10pm, but that was fine for us. Food at the buffet and snack huts was decent but not spectacular. The three restaurants are hard to get a reservation at because they appear to be terribly understaffed (Japanese and Italian restaurants we were able to get into were only half full even though we were told there was no reservations available when we arrived), but the food at the restaurants was nothing special. If we went again, we'd skip the restaurants this time around and not bother trying to get a reservation. Plenty of families with kids as well, but the resort never felt super crowded. Took a great personal taxi tour of town from the taxi stand at the hotel. We'd consider going back.

wifi was terrible even in the lobby. jerk shack and employees were great. they need to allow local crafts people on the grounds in certain areas to help the local people. The chairs in the lobby and jerk shack were very uncomfortable, could only sit there a short time. Gym was closed the whole time we were there for rennovations-bummer. We had a maintenance guy check our AC, It was better, but ran non stop. hot tub could be warmer. Nice pool and liked the island.

Beautiful Beach, Great Gym, But Some Disappointments The beach and weather were stunning, and we loved the buffet, Beloved restaurant, and strong cocktails. The gym was surprisingly well-equipped and a big plus. However, we weren’t told about the daily tax until mid-stay, a crab crawled out of the tub while showering, and we were woken early by loud lawn mowers. I loved this hotel. I cant wait to see it once all the renovations are done. Its very warm an welcoming. The cats was a added plus they are so friendly. The beach is beautiful an kid friendly the pool as well. The food was ok the service was wonderful from the bartenders to house keeping everything was great. I will definitely be returning. My suggestions would be have more activities for the kids keep pool open at least to dusk instead of 6pm an more kid snacks like cupcakes popcorn chips. The hip strip is a $30 taxi ride which to me is a lil too much for a 10 min ride but over all 10/10 see u guys in 6 months

It depends on what you are looking for. A relaxing quite atmosphere, where you enjoy setting on the beach then its great. If you preferr night life, entertainment a busy atmosphere with lots to do than maybe not for you. Food was ok, there was construction on buildings when we were there which canceled out the swim up bar and adult side of the resort but made best of it. Rooms are basic but ok. I would rate this resort a 3 star resort. So if your expecting a 4 star or 5 star than this isnt your resort. We travel alot and we make best of where we go always. To sum it up concider this a 3 star and you will get what your coming for.

The first day, there was a roach in the bathroom. the staff was not hospitable in my opinion. I believe you should tip after the service, not before just to get good customer service. The beaches had more seaweed patches then actual sandy sections to swim. The food was less then great, fruits were hard, eggs running, breakfast sausage overcooked. It was like no effect in cooking. I will say the young ladies in the clothing gift shop had great customer service. I did not mind spending money in there. i travel to many resorts in Jamacia, this by far was the most disappointing experience. Especially when I was put up in a resort due to canceled fight and when we arrived the staff greeting you as soon as you entered the door. What is most shocking is the price was a few dollars more. Epedia until this resort is complete with renovations, PLEASE take this off your web. Thanks

Everything was great.. beside the reservation happening next to my room.. are last two day around 9am there where drilling and you can hear it clearly throw the walls.. on top of that we found two roaches in are bathroom.

The glass sliding door fell off it's track and slammed into my niece's cheekbone! They then moved us at 11pm at night to a room with cockroaches! We will never be back!

I found hair in my good twice, on two differeny days!!! They served me rum cream and when I was almost finished I realized a dead fly was in there as I sucked him up in my mouth!!! Dispicable!!!! When I complained, I was told "sorry about that"... That's it!!!!!! Was of money!!!!!

Disliked: The bathroom was a major disappointment. It had an outdated appearance and a persistent musty odor. Additionally, there was visible dirt and mold around the tub. Also, I found the food options to be repetitive. The last time I visited the property was 15 years ago, and before that, it was once a year for 4 years. After the renovations are completed, I will revisit.

I've been to this hotel when it was Holiday Inn. The company that took over this hotel, Catolonia should've updated this property. For instance, there was a lot of issues with the WiFi and the toliet. For instance, the WiFi was always stagnant and unstable within everywhere in the hotel. Also, the toliet was making a lot of sounds and quickly lost water out of nowhere. In addition, it was disgusting to find out that the walls sweat and leaves puddle in the middle of our room, which is very unclean. Next, the telephone barely worked where my family and I couldn't get in contact with guest services. Another concern was the towel system was very inconsistent, where it was hard to receive a towel and get in contact with workers about the towels. On a positive note, the food and staff were amazing.

The staff at Catalonia were not welcoming at all, the food service host and supervisor were very rude at The Terrace restaurant and it seemed as if everyone had an attitude when you would inquire about something. The rooms were not updated as shown in the picture, the buffet was horrible and had fruit flies all over the fruit, wasn't too many options for people that don't eat pork such as myself. The bathroom in our room was very old, dirty and had to wear slides in the shower because of the condition, water went out on us as we were taking a shower multiple times and some guest we spoke with had no water the entire time. Our experience was horrible the only fun we had was off resort and everyone off resort was kind and friendly. I travel for experience, cleanliness, good food and great customer service and I received None of the above. If I do return to Montego Bay it will not be to the Catalonia and I most certainly would not recommend to anyone else. Upon complaining to the supervisor I never even received an apology for the rude treatment we received, no free services or anything. Never again.

The staff at Catalonia were not welcoming at all, the food service host and supervisor were very rude at The Terrace restaurant and it seemed as if everyone had an attitude when you would inquire about something. The rooms were not updated as shown in the picture, the buffet was horrible and had fruit flies all over the fruit, wasn't too many options for people that don't eat pork such as myself. The bathroom in our room was very old, dirty and had to wear slides in the shower because of the condition, water went out on us as we were taking a shower multiple times and some guest we spoke with had no water the entire time. Our experience was horrible the only fun we had was off resort and everyone off resort was kind and friendly. I travel for experience, cleanliness, good food and great customer service and I received None of the above. If I do return to Montego Bay it will not be to the Catalonia and I most certainly would not recommend to anyone else. Upon complaining to the supervisor I never even received an apology for the rude treatment we received, no free services or anything. Never again.

On 7.19.25, there was no water. I called the front desk and was told the engineer was evaluating the issue. I mentioned my daughter has severe eczema and inquired how long this would be a problem, I was told, "I don't know." I suggested they ask the manager, but I was put on hold then transferred to guest services. I went to the front desk and spoke with the MOD Denton, who said he didn't know my room was without water. Then another hotel guest approached the front desk and reported they were without water, the staff was taken aback. Then Bergili (incorrect spelling) claimed there was no water in all of Montego Bay, but he later acknowledged he lacked evidence to support his assertion. Winsome, the General Manager, intervened and said the water tank only needed to be switched. Overall, bathroom in my room was not the cleanest (mold in tile) and the hotel is outdated; customer service is poor.

The lobby was so pretty, open, and airy. However, the rest of the resort was old and outdated. The elevators were down in the building my room was in, so we had to use the staff elevator in another building. My room was nice and clean, yet the sliding patio door was warped and couldn't close completely. The cafeteria/buffet food was okay, however, the staff wasn't keeping the flies out or cleaning up the spills.

The property was quite nice. Our room didn’t have hot water in the shower. They said a plumber would come at some point. Also the Wi-Fi was not strong enough to reach our room. Only picked it up on the balcony or in the central areas.

The rooms were nice food was good but the air conditioning was not cool enough. Rooms didn’t have WiFi so you had to go the lobby if you want to browse the internet. I like the games, karaoke and going to different restaurants every night for dinner. Christopher and Cliff were supper helpful and always willing to help

1. Check in was at 3… when we got there at 1, they checked us in and we could change and get some food. We were grateful for that. 2. The rooms were ok but dated. I know they’re doing some remodeling, so I hope the older side will get a face lift as well. The bathroom was tiny, you couldn’t turn around without bumping into something. The sheets were comfy but there was a little moldy smell (not sure where it was coming from). 3. The beach was AMAZING. Warm water, very inviting. The pool was good as well, just had some mold - needs a little cleaning. 4. The food- Breakfast - AMAZING!! Lunch and dinner were tasty but just ok. 5. The staff - everyone was pleasant. 6. The beaches areas are nice and well kept, love the island, staff is friendly and helpful. Our oceanfront suite had a great view, but the sliding glass door did not close properly in the bathroom was very small, but it was sufficient and I will go again.

There was only one working elevator, which was very inconvenient, especially for the staff, knowing that they had to clean the rooms and they would have to wait for the guest. Also, the room that we stayed in you could hear the people above us so the walls were fairly thin overall we had a nice time. The food was good. I love the entertainment. I wish the ocean water was a little deeper, but I’ve stayed here in the past and I was aware of that but overall, we had a great day and we’re looking forward to coming back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Overall, we'd recommend booking it for the price. Things we liked: - Many restaurant options. "BLoved" was especially good, and it was fun having a Hibachi option on site. Our favorite was the jerk chicken served daily at the grill hut. - Beautiful spacious, beach areas, especially the island beach. That's a special place! - Snorkeling around the large island rocks was great! We saw many types of fish. It was easy and safe. We brought our own gear. - They offered many entertainment options throughout the day and a special event each night. - The buffet offered themed meals each day and always had some native dishes, which we enjoyed trying. - The staff was wonderful. Very kind and helpful. They provided great service. Suggestions: - Need to update rooms. Thankfully the AC worked well in the room. But, the the whole complex is dated. (They are remodeling some buildings now.) - The seagrass (growing underwater around the beach area) needs to be vacuumed out.

Had to wait 2hrs when checking in because the rooms weren't ready. The plus to that was we got and upgraded room when added questions were raised about the product. Security at the gate needs additional customer service training. Entertainment could be improved. The hotel and facilities are ok . Once those minor issues are corrected, the rating for the hotel will also improve.

The experience with the staff was so poor I regretted spending my money with this property as I’ve never felt like this before at a resort and it’s a yearly treat for my year of hard work. If your skin tone isn’t clear the service will be garbage! Never felt so humiliated before! I went to Ocean Eden Bay last year and Grand Palladium the year before and was never treated like that! Ali at the front desk was very helpful though and Bellboy Christopher was a gem. At the dining hall we had to be asking for drinks and all while they would go to the light skinned tables and ask if they wanted any beverage. As a Jamaican you really don’t stand a chance here at good customer service.

Overall the stay was pretty good. We were dissatisfied with not being provided enough washcloths daily for the amount of people in our room (3). When we asked housekeeping, we were told to call 200 (on multiple occasions). It was rectified early in our stay but by the end of our stay we had to start requesting washcloths again.

Requested a queen room had us waiting on it to get ready. Then gave us a a room with two beds. Talked to staff and manager’s and they were not helpful told us they can give us the money back so we can leave. Don’t value customers. Someone visiting from the US can’t decide at 4pm to up and leave without any assistance. Very rude!

I enjoyed my stay at Catalonia, the food options were good, I enjoyed the day-to-day activities that were able to be accessed like kayaking and karaoke. I had mixed reviews from the staff, some staff members were very nice and respectful, and then there were some that did not provide the customer service that I hoped to receive while visiting. Catalonia was a decent first experience in Jamaica but I probably wouldn’t choose to stay again due to encountering things like the elevator not working, the limited availability of restaurant reservations for the different dining options, and also how the bars restrict basic drink options (Jack Daniels, Malibu etc.) for “privileged guests“ despite purchasing the all-inclusive package.

Stayed for 5 full days not including travel days. Here's my review: Pros: -Nice beach/only about 3 feet deep. Perfect if you have young children. -Close to airport, "Hip-Strip", "Doctor's Cave" beach. -Buffet food is pretty much average in comparison to other all inclusives, which I guess is all you can ask for. -Swimming pool is big enough. -Lots of options for snacks during the day.(Ice cream station, sandwich station, crepes station, jerk-hut) Cons: -Their restaurants are absolutely horrendous. You're better off just eating at the buffet. I ate at their Italian restaurant. I had the lasagna. They were to cheap to use real tomato sauce, or even the canned stuff. Instead they opted to squirt ketchup all over the rubbery, probably microwaved lasagna. It was so gross, I literally took one bite and was done. I left with my family who also ate none of their entrees after we ate desert, which actually was not bad. We ate at the buffet after to fill up. Catalonio needs to do better here. -here's only like 6 or 7 umbrellas around this big pool. I mean, c'mon. Can you invest in some more? It's a joke to have so few. -Rooms are seriously outdated. -Shower in my mother in laws room didn't work. We complained, they never fixed it. She had to take a bird bath every day. They offered her a room switch, but who wants to pack again after completly unpacking? How about they just inspect the room and make sure everything is fully functioning before giving it out? -Safe didn't work either.

Perfect if you have young children. -Close to airport, "Hip-Strip", "Doctor's Cave" beach. -Buffet food is pretty much average in comparison to other all inclusives, which I guess is all you can ask for. -Swimming pool is big enough. -Lots of options for snacks during the day.(Ice cream station, sandwich station, crepes station, jerk-hut) Cons: -Their restaurants are absolutely horrendous. You're better off just eating at the buffet. I ate at their Italian restaurant. I had the lasagna. They were to cheap to use real tomato sauce, or even the canned stuff. Instead they opted to squirt ketchup all over the rubbery, probably microwaved lasagna. It was so gross, I literally took one bite and was done. I left with my family who also ate none of their entrees after we ate desert, which actually was not bad. We ate at the buffet after to fill up. Catalonio needs to do better here. -here's only like 6 or 7 umbrellas around this big pool. I mean, c'mon. Can you invest in some more? It's a joke to have so few. -Rooms are seriously outdated. -Shower in my mother in laws room didn't work. We complained, they never fixed it. She had to take a bird bath every day. They offered her a room switch, but who wants to pack again after completly unpacking? How about they just inspect the room and make sure everything is fully functioning before giving it out? -Safe didn't work either.

This was by far one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed! The hotel itself is old and mold infected. The elevator in building 2 wasn’t working had to use the mold infested stairs. The pool closes at 6pm during summer hours. The bars don’t open until 9am, there’s only 1 pool for the entire resort. There wasn’t much entertainment during the day. The buffet is completely open birds were flying in and eating off the food. All the liquor is bottom self. You have to be a time share member to get a decent liquor. The restaurant wouldn’t let you try more than 1 meal even though it was supposed to be all-inclusive. The quality of the rooms are so poor, floors are so dirty. Mold around shower. Hallways are dirty the entire property needs to be shut down! Absolutely the worst place I’ve ever stayed. All together it’s ran down! Staff was amazing and very accommodating to try and make it a pleasant stay but if I could give this place a -10 I would.

The rooms/bathrooms need a major makeover. The adult pool and bar were closed and we were not notified before we arrived. We paid for the Privilege Garden Rooms. Cats were walking around all day and night and some of the guests were feeding them. “Big problem”. The bars had limited drinks and no mix to make the Bob Marley drinks for a few days’ music in the nightclub sucked but the bartender was great. The best restaurant is BLOVED, they cook the food when you order “ French Toast, Shrimp Taco, Ribs, ox tails were awesome. Mamma Mia salmon was great also. The volleyball net is setup wrong in the pool, but we enjoyed playing. The pool table needs to be replaced. The staff in that area was on her phone and we asked her questions and no reply.

We really enjoyed our stay here. After reading some reviews I started getting nervous before we left. The good: check in didn’t take nearly as long as everyone made it out to be, maybe 20 mins; the room was nice and clean, the AC worked great, the shower was large and had been upgraded recently; there was always ample chairs at the beach; staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating; THE FOOD WAS AMAZING, both of our taxi drivers even talked about how they heard the food there is some of the best Jamaican food at resorts in Montego Bay. The not so good: the water in the shower never got hot in our 7 nights; the beach is super shallow so general swimming and snorkeling is pretty awful; the rooms are LOUD, if a pin drops anywhere in your building you will hear it, so make sure you bring earplugs.

went for my birthday and have been to other catalonia hotels in mexico and DR. and were wonderful. this is a terrible example while they gave all you all inclusive we still had to leave the hotel to find something palatable. flies everywhere on the food and one pool and a tiny private beach. the room was the worst part. it looked like someone tried to caulk the tub and sink with their bare hands the room had a moldy odor and was as big as a layover motel in the states. just not half what i was expecting. the only upside was the staff. they were for the most part very kind and accommodating. spend a little more and stay at the RIU. we paid for day excursions just to not be at the hotel.

I enjoyed my stay at Catalonia, the food options were good, I enjoyed the day-to-day activities that were able to be accessed like kayaking and karaoke. I had mixed reviews from the staff, some staff members were very nice and respectful, and then there were some that did not provide the customer service that I hoped to receive while visiting. Catalonia was a decent first experience in Jamaica but I probably wouldn’t choose to stay again due to encountering things like the elevator not working, the limited availability of restaurant reservations for the different dining options, and also how the bars restrict basic drink options (Jack Daniels, Malibu etc.) for “privileged guests“ despite purchasing the all-inclusive package.

Way too much seaweed. No orientation for 1st timers. Guest services requests always required follow up. Brochure information not up to date. The worst was the air conditioning unit was so loud that the other person in the room had to sleep with her headphones as to block the noise. That is not acceptable. Joseph in the dining room was amazing. Your daytime activities and your evening shows need some work. This is supposed to be a non smoking property but no one addresses the situation. The free shuttle to Margaritaville and Main Street shopping is a nice perk. Some of the staff are really nice. When inquiring about things regarding the property you get different answers from the staff. A la Cart restaurants were good.

Food was ok, room mouldy and noisy, strange man followed us one night, toilet flooded and everything in room got soaked( we had previously complained about toilet) beach is man made, very shallow, weedy and no really for swimming but probably good for little kids to wade in.

Not a relaxing place from start to finish - Check in time was 3PM but as the 2nd in line out of 50 or so customers it took 45 minutes to get a room. There was angry mob of customers waiting to get their rooms. The resort does not allow food in the rooms or lobby area - not sure why. There are no towels, ice or bottled water available after 3PM daily. The drinks are watered down. They don\'t even sell quality liquor in the gift shop. Who has ever heard of a Jamaica resort not selling Appleton Rum? Most of the staff are not friendly - two staff members complained to us they had to come in on their days off. Front desk staff grimace at every request and do not try to help. Twice staff members offered to deliver water to the room but never showed up. Rooms have safety issues - electrical plugs are loosely on the wall, balcony door does not shut completely, door lock in our room had been compromised and "put back together" and screws were loose. Rooms offer coffee makes and ice bucket but water and ice are hard to find after three pm. Beach towels run out by everyday by 2PM. Meal sittings have to be reserved one day in advance but when you go to dine the restaurants are less than half full. Cable TV was out for a 24 hour period and our room was not cleaned two of the six days while there. The property has beautiful beaches and adult pool area is nice so if you just want to go lie in the sun its good but don\'t count on any other service or a friendly staff.
