We stayed at Oceanfront Suites at Cowichan Bay for a weekend getaway, as all hotels in the Victoria Harbour were fully booked. We stayed at this hidden gem, the rooms, amenities, and sizing of the room was perfect (especially since there was a full on Living Room suite along with a kitchen to cook meals). The gym had up to date equipment with a bench press and all the free weights, as well as a nice clean pool. The view from the rooms/suites was beautiful, and it was definitely nice to go out there in the early mornings to have your coffee or lounge outside in the evenings on your patio. The only thing that was a dealbreaker was the hotel breakfast option was mediocre, the hashbrowns were burnt, and other breakfast items were average. Other than that, the staff were very helpful and professional, the people living in the area or staying in the hotel were very friendly. It was a quiet neighborhood, no botheration whatsoever and no sketchy people hovering around. Keep up the amazing work!

It is a nice and peaceful place for family vacation. Beautiful view, close to reataurants and everything is available around. Central location for access to Victoria, Nanaimo and Cowichan lake. Nice swimming pool.

Showers in room are a bit stained and look old. The hot tub was broken but was not mentioned in the booking as I have back issues and a indoor pool and hot tub was preferred for my stay.

The place was nice! It had two air conditioning units to keep the room cool and reduce the humidity. The pictures on the wall were surprisingly nice and I had my wife and my son independently notice out loud how pretty the pictures were. The pool was garbage. Overly hot and humid and just unpleasant place to be in.

Sweet ocean front hotel. You cannot beat the view of the water. The pool and hottub were great, though jets didn’t seem to work in hottub. The hotel is older so don’t expect very new looking rooms. Nonetheless, it was a perfect stay for our first visit to cowichan area. We dined at a few restaurants down the way and masthead was our favourite for dinner! Also make sure to grab an epic Caesar from the hotel’s on site restaurant. Staff were friendly. Tricky parking for our big truck but was all good. 10/10 recommend a stay!

Our room was infested with large ants, some with wings. Could not sleep, as they were on the foor and walls. We refused to pay but they only took ,$50 off and said they had to deal with you for us to get a full refund. We are waiting!

Great location right on the ocean and an excellent restaurant. The room was spacious but dated. The bathroom tiles around the tub/shower had very dirty grout lines and the floor tiles stained.

The hotel location is wonderful. Rooms are nice. Only complaint is our room was not very clean. There were sticky finger prints on all the cabinet handles, side tables and dressers. Table wasn’t wiped. Hair in the bathtub.

The pictures on the website are deceiving. The building is old and very dated. You pay a lot for very little. The housekeeping service was miserable. All she did was flip the sheets back into place and did nothing else. There were no new towels. The garbage was not taken out. the bathroom wasn’t even cleaned.

The furnishings in our room could use updating or replacement (i.e. the cutting board and frying pan). Room could have been cleaner but considering we were right by the water with a beautiful view, that was overlooked. Very good restaurant on site. Staff are very courteous and kind.

Beautiful updated rooms but the pullout couch needs another topper ( witch can be added separately).Springs literally poking through. The couch is great to sit on and very nice but sleeping is unbearable. Staff was amazing , especially Saturday morning shift ! One of the best service I have seen !

Rooms were newly renovated and are huge. Great view. Lady who checked me in was not super friendly. Almost like I was annoying her checking me in. Can walk to restaurants, etc although not much going on in evenings. Get to dinner early.

Pros: • Very spacious suites with great harbor views. • Clean throughout and well kept. • Convenient kitchenettes in the units. • Easy check-in process and plenty of parking. Cons: • The suites ran warm. There is AC, but unfortunately the units aren’t built-in; they’re extremely loud portable-style machines that sounded like a freight train, waking us up multiple times during the night. Grateful for the AC, but not the noise. • Pillows were very overstuffed, which gave me a neck ache, and there wasn’t really an option to swap them out. • No restaurant on site for breakfast. They do offer a breakfast delivery option you can pre-order, but the earliest delivery is 8:00 a.m., which might be too late for early risers or people heading out on morning plans. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and is excellent Bottom line: Spacious, clean, and with wonderful views — but if you’re sensitive to noise at night or need an early breakfast, keep those downsides in mind.

Everything about this property was great…the view was spectacular! The only issue we had was there were four adults travelling and the second bed (pull out couch was incredibly uncomfortable.) I would definitely stay here again but get separate rooms. The front desk staff at check in was incredibly friendly and welcoming!

We had a deluxe ocean view king suite … the only thing deluxe was the view. Kitchen not stocked very well so if you plan to cook take everything you will need. You can ask at front desk for extra kitchen utensils. The couch in living room was very uncomfortable. The king bed was soft but comfortable. Room needs to be updated. The suite was a comfortable size.

From the wonderful house keepers (Claire!) to the front desk staff, and of course the food at cook and butcher - this gem is going to be a repeated experience. Significantly overpriced hotel for what you get. At $500 a night this is way too much for a 2 star hotel. Second, hotel allows pets but make sure you call this hotel and let them know….adding this to your booking comments means nothing. The floors for pets are old, run down and not modern. Smell of old cigarette smoke present. Out of the two receptionists one was very nice, the other as well as the manager were not helpful upon checkin. They didn’t know we had a pet despite mentioning it on our Expedia booking. In the end they wanted to charge us more for an alternate room because of the pet. Absolute scoundrels. Cancelled our stay, lost our deposits on the spa next door and left. Would not return and warn others about poor customer service.

Just a word of warning. We tried two nights in a row to have dinner in Cow Bay but both restaurants said they were fully booked. If you want to eat in Cow Bay make reservations well ahead. Don’t walk-in hoping. FYI we found an excellent Italian restaurant 6 mins drive away. Otherwise the property is good. Great location. Wonderful bakery in Cow Bay.

This is an amazing venue and the staff are outstanding. The restaurant is absolutely phenomenal. All in all I will always stay in this facility when I stay in a hotel. And will encourage friends and family who come to visit to stay there too. View is magnificent.

Reasonable spot for a family. Enough room for kids on the sofa bed, big bedroom for parents. Parking garage had lots of space Marginally equipped kitchen - no stove, hard to do dishes Weird bathroom door (frosted glass) but otherwise fine No space in on site DR for dinner but they happily do takeout.
