Super 8 by Wyndham Kenora

The staff are amazing. Very helpful and friendly, no gym on site but you do get free passes to the Community Recreation Center which is close by and well equipped.

No exercise facility. Staff helpful and pleasant. Condiments in the foyer available all the time. Free news paper.

Didn’t like no elevator

Overall a good hotel - no elevator was a small inconvenience with multiple bags - rooms were fine and clean - overall a tad pricey for season and location.

Easy parking

No elevator in bldg. Not convenient for an 80 year old woman to have to drag her suitcase up two sets of stairs.

I travel a lot in Canada and Europe, staying in 2-4 star hotels, and I have never put in a review before for any of them. I am making an exception this time in the hopes that this reaches the management and they can make some small changes to make this hotel one I would not write a review about. The hotel itself was fine; the location was easy to access and a short drive from things you’d want to get to, the breakfast was mostly good (aside from burnt-black bacon), the beds were comfortable. Nothing to complain about there. Where the hotel fell down was communication, and I think it’s just down to staff not being fully trained: - we were not informed there was no elevator (other groups I saw checking in with different staff the next day were told) and we were not given the option of a main floor room (those other groups were) - we were not informed there would be no housekeeping on a multi-night stay because of staffing shortages, and we didn’t see the sign about it until we went down to get more towels because it was blocked by other notices - when I pulled the blanket back to get into bed the first night the sheets were dirty, and because they didn’t have enough staff the girl was on the desk by herself, so I had to go get new sheets and make the bed myself. I’m quite capable of doing all of that, but there was no apology for the inconvenience and that’s what irked me more than anything. The staff was friendly, just maybe not fully trained in customer service.

For the price the property is dated, needs maintenance and is dirty. Until I looked at accessibility I didn't realize that there are two stories and no elevator so had to drag suitcases up stairs. The beds were okay but the carpet was very dirty (even in bedrooms), the doors to and the railings in staircase were sticky to the touch. They had not turned on the air conditioning so when we first got there the room was a bit like a sauna. With all that the staff was friendly and the breakfast was good which is why I gave two stars instead of one.

Check-in staff was extremely pleasant and welcoming. It is a 2-floor motel WITHOUT an elevator. We are traveling with pets and it's not fun carrying a kitty litter box up flights of stairs. The room was clean and somewhat comfortable.

Room was dirty

The room looked very clean, but there was a musty smell. After awhile you got used to it, but when we got home I had to wash all our clothes, whether we wore them or not as they smelled musty.

Imagine my surprise when I had something poking me into n the back. When the pulled back the bottom sheet there was a big plastic knife on under it. That would s what was poking me in the back. Everything else was good.

Ants everywhere upon check in. Cobwebs in bathroom corners. Room had the faint oder of alcohol. Also. Did not give us our deposit back. Housekeepers clean. What are you being paid for? Inspecting rooms? nah, you clean. Do your jobs and don’t steal from guests. Will not be staying again. Avoid at all costs!!!

Awesome stay and breakfast. Carpet inside the unit is old and a bit dirty-looking. The bathtub is also squeaky when stepped on.

The location is a little out to the way so driving is needed. The restaurant next door is only open from Thursday- Sunday. So if you are looking for meals you have to go further out from Monday- Wednesday. The facility is clean, and the bed was comfortable. I had several ants in my room - I informed the team and they said they would look into it and I am confident it will be dealt with. The walls are paper-thin - I could hear my neighbours’ conversations, and…their “activities” while I have was in my room.

Old and tired hotel but kept up best that can be done with an old building. The staff are good and the place has new paint and some room remodeling. We stay there every year and will continue to do so.

Absolutely lovely view of lake and area. Room was super awesome, other than the noisy light in the bathroom, bed was super comfy. Absolutely love the breakfast options and looking forward to any future business trips

The beds are uncomfortable.

We were only there for one night as we were driving back home. Staff at check in were friendly. Room was large, comfortable and clean. Breakfast buffet was ok, offered a good choice of hot and cold items. The cost for our stay was overpriced.

The tool is always clean, the staff are always so great. The beds could use an update to something a little nicer and the shower pressure needs a tune. Otherwise our preferred stay in kenora at least twice a year!

Friendly staff, spacious rooms

The place was clean and the staff was friendly. However, there was an event going on at the hotel event center with live music and a very loud crowd. We were at the second floor and could hear the music and feel the vibrations. Our stay was not restful at all. I called the front desk and they said that the event was going on until 1:00am (I called at 9pm). They did offer to change our room but we have been travelling all day long and with four in tow I didn’t feel like having to haul all across the other side of the building. The room was very nice. But I would suggest to call ahead and see if there’s an event going on during your stay.

From our room was a nice view of the lake. Comfortable rooms.

Your staff is truly amazing at the Kenora Super 8. We were there for medical reasons for 4 nights and on the very early morning of my husbands surgery our vehicle was dead. Carly saved the day and used her own car to boost us which we are forever grateful. Dakota and Carley we send a special thanks to but all of your staff are to be commended for their great service and kindness. We have stayed before and will always choose Kenora Super 8 when visiting the area. Thankyou all .

I always have good experiences with Super 8 properties and Kenora was no different. The online check in and check out made everything so fast and smooth. The front desk staff were very friendly, gave us advice on places to eat and quickly brought a roll away cot to our room when I responded to the welcome text I received. Breakfast was a nice touch as always, a great way to start our active lake country day. The hotel was sold out but was quiet and the beds were comfortable.

Clean room, friendly and helpful staff

Front desk was not flexible on room location. Said rooms were pre-assigned. I usually ask for a quiet room. Our room was fine though. Room was nicer than I expected. Breakfast was a bit grim, but we went at the very end. I would stay here again.

This hotel is right off the main drag when you drive in. Located just 5 mins before the harborfront, it has all the conveniences of town but a little quieter. Love the 5 a.m. breakfast option as well as the hot soups, cookies and 24 hr coffee. Hotel was quiet and clean and the beds made for a great night sleep.

Easily walk to the waterfront park!

Our stay was enjoyable, this hotel is probably the most recently updated in Kenora as of the time of this review as the interiors of all the rooms including the lobby area were brand new and clean. The exterior appearance is a stark contrast though as I almost drove past thinking it was an older hotel. The breakfast is fine with fresh fruit, yogurt, waffles, and some hot options being offered. There is a restaurant right across the parking lot with good food and you could probably walk to downtown Kenora in about 15 minutes, it is also just up the hill from the lake! The staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the town. Overall we had a nice stay and this hotel is definitely one of the best options if you are passing through Kenora.

Property was very expensive for the older, economy hotel room. Room was okay, staff were friendly but not near any amenities.

A good location. No pool but the lake is close. Tv was great. Close enough to walk to the Harbourfront.

Just a one night stay on the road ... I like that they had soup and some other snacks when I arrived ... breakfast was good also

Staff were all so nice. Breakfast was good, bacon and eggs. Lots of extras to choose from. Even soup in the evening. Only complaint.... the sheets were scratchy 😞 i love soft sheets on hotels. Oh and the bath towels, are the side of me hair towel so bring a house coat if you usually wear a towel after a shower. They might fit small children.

Very welcoming, arrived just in time for the hockey game after a full day of driving from Regina. They had a delicious pot of soup on and hot chocolate in the lobby, all complimentary. We could just take it to our room and enjoy the game, didn’t have to go out looking for food after the drive. We were travelling with our dog and stayed at several Wyndham hotels along the way and this was the nicest. Breakfast was top notch for a free continental offering with several juices available. Everything was as it should be or better.
