Very Very tired hotel. Room was extremely hot windows and the bathroom floor seemed to have under floor heating which could not be switch off - bathroom was obviously added at a later date and I suspect the excessive heat in August was coming from hot water pipes running under the floor. broken Window - tiny twin room bathroom was so small the sink was actually in the bedroom - just very very quiet and tired. Pool out of action - lift our of action - full price charged ! Will have to have a refurb or they won't be there for long

Hotel was absolutely stunning, my second time staying. We always use the New Forest Hotel chains and they never disappoint. The lounge was cosy for a glass of wine after dinner. Staff were really friendly. The room was just what we needed for a night. The pool was clean and a nice size.

Nice old style building with themed decoration and preserved older features. The swimming pool was clean and ideal temperature. However, probably due to the size and age of the property the water pressure in the room was very low (for shower, basin and toilet). We knew it was a small (snug) room when we booked but it was adequate for our 3 night stay.

Feels tired and in need of a refresh. Old fridges and spare beds/mattresses sitting in corridors when they should be stored away. They host weddings which I feel like they should share with you if one is booked during your stay as it’s incredibly loud. Staff very friendly.

Lovely stay in this picturesque setting. Staff were accommodating and friendly- they were short staffed, but did all they could to look after us. Clean, warm pool area- not for lengths, but nice for a dip and perfect for children. Lovely terrace gardens for evening drinks in the sunshine too.

We went to check in at 3pm but the room was not ready until 3.20pm. No dog welcome pack on arrival but after we asked they did provide it. Bed really comfortable, very quiet at night which was lovely. Breakfast was cold but it was tasty. Swimming pool lovely and warm but could do with an update. Lovely grounds and great area. Close to everything we wanted.

The hotel got the basics right. I booked this hotel because of the pool. Which on both days was shut. The rooms were clean and well kept. Food was aimed for a 5 star palte, but i would give it 3. Beautiful gardens and very friendly and helpful staff.

Nice Friendy staff and fellow guests. Asked for a few things to be put right such as the right sized coffee cups for the coffee machine. All these requests were rectified straight away. Very suprised and disappointed to be told that our room was not entitled for a bed make up,change of towels or general clean unless we were staying for 4 nights or more (we were staying for 2). Hotel was clean but smelt a bit of dogs. Seemed to be more dog friendly than child friendly. No mattress was initially supplied for cot.

I stayed at Bartley Lodge Hotel for four nights over my birthday weekend, and while the location and atmosphere were beautiful, several issues left us disappointed. Starting with the positives: the architecture of the hotel is absolutely stunning, and the interior design is just as charming. The location is fantastic—perfect for exploring nearby national parks and lovely local pubs, especially if you have children or a dog with you. A particular highlight was the dinner at the hotel restaurant—it was genuinely one of the best meals I’ve ever had. However, there were quite a few negatives during our stay. Upon check-in, I was informed it would cost £60 for my dog to stay, which felt very steep. We also forgot our toothbrushes and toothpaste and waited at reception for 26 minutes around 10 p.m. to ask for some, but no one ever showed up. Breakfast was another letdown—it cost nearly £17 per person, and unfortunately, the quality didn’t match the price. The buffet condiments were frequently empty, and we had to keep asking staff to replenish basic items. Speaking of staff, it was often difficult to get through to reception via phone, and on one of the days, there was no water in the room to shower or wash. After calling multiple times with no response, I went down in person, only to find no one there either. Our room was uncomfortably hot, even with the window open and the fan on. I was a little dissapointed with our stay. We booked this place as we were visiting peppa pig world but wanted somewhere a little nicer to stay than the local holiday inn. Upon arrival we were informed there would be no house keeping during our stay, this meant we'd ran out of tea bags on the first morning and both the bins were overflowing as we were staying with out 3 year old. We had no soap, shower gel or shampoo in our room, i did try to ask at the front desk but gave up. We had an issue with our bath on the first night, the plug wouldnt release to drain the water. We had to get staff up to the room to remove the plug and the following day they provided a new plug but it was too large to fit in the hole so we couldnt fill the bath up the next time. We had dinner in the hotel restaruant on our first night where the service was poor. We had booked a table but they didnt have a record of it. I order ateak rare and it was more medium/well. We ordered a round a drinks with one of the staff and after 15 minutes had to reporder as there was 'no record on the till' Our room was also over the washing machines so we were woken up fairly early to thrumming of the washing machines which was very loud in the room. All of this is a shame as the hotel and gardens are very beatiful and would otherwise make for a lovely stay.

Beautiful property and grounds set in woodland. Very peaceful location. Very clean throughout. My bedroom was spacious with comfortable bed, and plenty of tea and coffee supplied!

I booked this hotel for the night before my little boys birthday as we was heading to Paultons park the next day so decided to give them a treat the night before rather than booking a cheaper option. When we arrived it all seemed very lovely and headed up to the room to drop our bags before going for a drink and to have some food. On first look to room looked fine. When we got to the bar there was no one around to serve. A sign told us to ask as reception if no one was around however there was no one at reception either. Once someone finally did arrive there were rude and very short with me when asking about what wines and beers they have. I felt as if I was getting on his nerves. There was also no option for any food even though there was bar menus. We got talking to another family that were staying and they said the same about the waiting times which on a summer’s warm evening isn’t very good. We headed up to the room to order a pizza from an outside venue as the children were hungry. I then decided to have a shower. The bathroom smelt of damp and mould and I soon realised what the cause was. A bath mat that had been aloud to become mouldy this had clearly been left time and time again to get in such a state. I called down to reception to have them change it as the shower was to slippy and dangerous to use without but after waiting for 5/7 minutes with no answer I gave up. The bed was comfy. The breakfast was poor eggs were made to order but inedible & the buffet was cold

This hotel could be grand, but it's in a very poor state of repair. The room we had was on the top floor, boiling hot. tatty mis matched furniture, bedside lamps not working. The curtains were inadequate, and there was a bright search light above each window meaning that it was blindingly bright all night. Windows filthy and in a very poor state. Shower didn't work!!! We only stayed one night as we were heading for Poole for a ferry early. The only thing that is good is that it's down a track and has safe parking!! didn't have any food so I can't comment. Room 20 is the worst room in the property

We were greeted by a lobby of moaning guest, which didn't bode well. We were checked in quickly and our room was ok. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very hot and lots of cobwebs on windows and in corners. Dinner service was not good. We were seated for two hours for two courses. Very slow. I overheard a waitress swearing under her breath after a guest had asked for something, which was disappointing. The pool was lovely and warm. Breakfast was good. Reception in the morning was exemplary. Great friendly service. Couldn't do enough.

We had to get drinking water from reception, which came in glass bottles that had a lot of limescale in it and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned on the inside. Lack of mini to fridge we couldn’t keep baby’s food long. We had ask for a double bed but it was two twins put together with an inch gap developing over night so couldn’t get the middle of the bed.

Nice location, but the lack of wifi on top of a poor 4g/5g signal was disappointing. I'd expect decent wifi when the area is known for poor signal. I had work to do from my room, and without wifi, this was impossible. It was also disappointing that the sah window in my room was screwed shut.

Nice old style building with themed decoration and preserved older features. The swimming pool was clean and ideal temperature. However, probably due to the size and age of the property the water pressure in the room was very low (for shower, basin and toilet). We knew it was a small (snug) room when we booked but it was adequate for our 3 night stay.

The room (48) was on the top floor and baking hot, even with the window open and 3 fans blowing. Considering the rating and the cost this room was far below par. The double bed, which was actually 2 singles pushed together was extremely uncomfortable, we could feel the springs of the bed. The whole reason for staying in hotels is to sleep and we couldn’t do that one thing, it’s such a shame as the building and location is beautiful but not enough attention has been paid to the guest’s comfort.

Beautiful property and grounds set in woodland. Very peaceful location. Very clean throughout. My bedroom was spacious with comfortable bed, and plenty of tea and coffee supplied!

This hotel could be grand, but it's in a very poor state of repair. The room we had was on the top floor, boiling hot. tatty mis matched furniture, bedside lamps not working. The curtains were inadequate, and there was a bright search light above each window meaning that it was blindingly bright all night. Windows filthy and in a very poor state. Shower didn't work!!! We only stayed one night as we were heading for Poole for a ferry early. The only thing that is good is that it's down a track and has safe parking!! didn't have any food so I can't comment. Room 20 is the worst room in the property

Booked this venue as it was only 30 minute drive to Southampton where I was working the next day. Nice reception from staff and directed to room 6. This was a room with a double bed. There was a desk in the room but there was not enough space between the desk and the end of the bed to sit on the stool provided. Shower was small (you would not be able to bend over to reach shampoo/soap, without opening door). Bed was comfortable and pillows were lovely. There was a gap between the door and the frame so at night the corridor light came through. There was no hot water in the hand basin on the day I stayed - I could not inform staff as there was no one on reception when I left.

We stay in this hotel a couple of times a year en route to Poole, each time we see no maintenance whatsoever. Everywhere is tatty, the shower in room 20 doesn’t work, the room was roasting hot, and there are 2 outside lights on all night directly above the 2 windows. We had to stuff towels along the curtain pole to try and block it out. The furniture is very cheap tatty pine. The bed and sheets were very comfy though, I’ll give good marks for that. The bedside light doesn’t work. No headboard. We couldn’t complain as it was 11pm when we got to the room, and we left before 6am. No toiletries in the room at all. This hotel should be stunning, but I’d be so disappointed if I’d booked a nice break, every footstep creaks and doors bang!! Sorry but we shall find somewhere else from now on!

Highly recommend The Bartley Lodge. All the staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Great location, comfortable rooms, and the pool was an added bonus. I was most impressed with the food, Christmas dinner and breakfast were both excellent. I hope to be back and will be recommending this hotel.

Not Good. Nobody on Reception on arrival. We waited 15minutes until someone turned up. We had Sandwiches and Drinks in The Garden. Cutlery and Condiments not offered. When we received them both the salt and pepper were empty. The table wasn’t cleared for 2 Hours. I checked in on line but that was a complete waste of time! The Receptionist asked me all the details again. The Manager didn’t acknowledge us and all of the staff needed training as there didn’t seem to have any Customer Service Skills. The Restaurant Food was good and one waitress stood out and had excellent social skill. I think her name was Ria. Very uncomfortable beds.

No cocktails available Room smelt from previous occupants, housekeeping left doors open but still bad. Service in restaurant poor husband finished main course before I got mine due to issue in kitchen. Had to ask for our wine as they seemed to have forgotten it. This hotel has a beautiful location . The room was lovely and very clean. Staff were fabulous in particular the receptionist. The only down fall was the waiting time for food in the restaurant, the food itself was lovely . Would also be nice if there was a separate dining area for families , as felt a little under pressure when dining with kids

Here’s the thing, this is an absolutely beautiful establishment. Everything about it is gorgeous and you feel like you are in Bridgerton. But the weekend I spent there was overshadowed by the fact that I am fairly certain half the staff were new to the job, not inly to this establishment, but to hospitality. I don’t know which one of them were the manager, but I hope they are aware they are doing a horrible job. The staff were disorganised, and they were absolutely horrible trained. It was constantly up to the guest to point out things that the staff should notice. If you, whatever job you have, walk past trash or dishes/glass, take them with you! Check that everything in the room works. When you walk through the buffet, check if anything is empty and refill it. And for heaven’s sake, if something is delayed, let the guests now. Everyone was really polite, very nice, as people they were amazing. And they did try, it just felt like they had no idea what to do most of the time and was just milling around until someone pointed out stuff to them. Or you couldn’t find anyone at all, which when I assume they had a staff meeting doing rock, paper, scissors to figure out who had which job. But this can luckily be fixed and I hope it will, because it’s way to pretty of a place to be treated like that.

The hotel was lovely and the room was nice, but what really made our stay was the service. All the staff we encountered were really helpful. The newly appointed manager, Will, went over and above to make sure all of our needs were met. He made sure that we had a lovely stay and was really very accommodating. The night attendant, Kylie, is also worth a mention as she was so helpful in the morning, serving us tea and coffee before breakfast actually started, even though it wasn't actually her job! Thank you again to all the staff at Bartley Lodge - we will definitely be coming again!

We were greeted by a lobby of moaning guest, which didn't bode well. We were checked in quickly and our room was ok. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very hot and lots of cobwebs on windows and in corners. Dinner service was not good. We were seated for two hours for two courses. Very slow. I overheard a waitress swearing under her breath after a guest had asked for something, which was disappointing. The pool was lovely and warm. Breakfast was good. Reception in the morning was exemplary. Great friendly service. Couldn't do enough.

The location is convenient and grounds very nice. The building is clean, but you can tell it’s a bit tired around the edges. Has has had some money spent in areas to improve it, but needs a little more to improve the overall feel. Great pool and this was a definite highlight. Didn’t find the reception staff to be friendly, and they seemed fairly disorganised.

The hotel location is lovely although a little easy to miss if arriving in the dark, and I’m sure the grounds will be super when the weather is good enough to enjoy them. Service from the staff was universally excellent and the room was comfortable. A few little niggles here and there, like having to duck to fit under the shower when I’m only 5’ 10”, and perhaps the room is just a little ‘tired’ in places but nothing dramatic. Dinner was excellent, breakfast slightly less so considering the price point. Overall an enjoyable stay.

We had a lovely stay at Bartley lodge. Beautiful manor house on lovely grounds. Good value and good size family rooms. We loved that the pool had long opening hours. We had dinner onsite one night which was delicious and kids menu too.

Nice large Manor House hotel with extensive grounds. All clean and well looked after but a couple of areas could do with refurbishment now due to age and general wear and tear. Nice that they allow dogs. Great stay, friendly staff, many thanks.

Amazing country estate. Absolutely beautiful. Front desk staff were helping elsewhere when we arrived so little delay checking in and out. Otherwise unbelievable stay.

Characterful property, though the most interesting downstairs spaces didnt seem to have much function - it felt like they were a corridor to the restaurant. We were in a modern ground floor room - pleasant but some fittings looked a bit tired. There was no aircon. We were charged almost £100 for dinner for 2 (without wine). Food ok but not special - i was not even offered a bread roll with my soup. Most other diners seemed to be families with rather noisy children - overall it felt somewhere between fine dining and a holiday camp. At check in i was pressed to book and pay for breakfast, which i did. Next morning i was told by restaurant staff that they had no record of my booking

Run out of the salmon as offered in the menu for the bagels Servers were miserable never smiled Very expensive bar drinks and a drainage system that banged with trapped air all nite in the toilet wasn’t very pleasant stay.

I booked this hotel for the night before my little boys birthday as we was heading to Paultons park the next day so decided to give them a treat the night before rather than booking a cheaper option. When we arrived it all seemed very lovely and headed up to the room to drop our bags before going for a drink and to have some food. On first look to room looked fine. When we got to the bar there was no one around to serve. A sign told us to ask as reception if no one was around however there was no one at reception either. Once someone finally did arrive there were rude and very short with me when asking about what wines and beers they have. I felt as if I was getting on his nerves. There was also no option for any food even though there was bar menus. We got talking to another family that were staying and they said the same about the waiting times which on a summer’s warm evening isn’t very good. We headed up to the room to order a pizza from an outside venue as the children were hungry. I then decided to have a shower. The bathroom smelt of damp and mould and I soon realised what the cause was. A bath mat that had been aloud to become mouldy this had clearly been left time and time again to get in such a state. I called down to reception to have them change it as the shower was to slippy and dangerous to use without but after waiting for 5/7 minutes with no answer I gave up. The bed was comfy. The breakfast was poor eggs were made to order but inedible & the buffet was cold

Great room and lovely property. Just need more staff and the food didn't meet the quality expected from the prices. Staff were really nice and breakfast was nice (just craved for a hash brown). Could be a great place but a few things like the changing room at the pool, no air con, offered room service but told 'too busy' and poor communication in restaurant keeps it a 'nice'!

Hotel setting is lovely, grounds are very well kept. Hotel in general is very small and cosy, would have been ideal to have aircon in the rooms as it was mid heatwave when we stayed and the room just didn’t seem to cool. All staff members we encountered were really friendly and happy to help

Stuck to find somewhere in the New Forest I widened the search to this hotel which clings onto the edge of the forest. It is more of a hotel for events (two birthdays and a wedding during our two night stay), so you do get to feel a little like a gate crasher. Very basic dining options but the food and service were pleasant enough. The hotel itself fitted the English country vibe I had wanted for my overseas friends, and the location was great allowing for easy arrival not far from the motorway, but everything New Foresty no more than 30 minutes away. The hotel cannot be blamed for the unnatural heat, but given our room got the full glare of afternoon sun it was impossible to cool down by bedtime, so some thought to closing curtains and windows for arrival if this is going to be our new normal. I’d far rather enter a dark cool room on arrival than a furnace.
