It's a lovely building from the outside very impressive. The bed was comfortable, but the rest of the furniture needed replacing. The bedroom doors could all done with a good paint job.

Beautiful grounds, plenty of parking and a clean, comfortable room. The member of staff who eventually appeared after ringing a bell at reception checked me in and was pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, I wasn’t aware the hotel was also being used for emergency accommodation. Returning at around 10.15pm, I was approached by a man who was clearly under the influence. He asked for a cigarette, then questioned me about how long I was staying and what room I was in. He told me the council had placed him there. As a woman travelling alone, this made me feel very vulnerable. I went to reception to speak to someone but there were no staff anywhere on site that I could see. The rest of the night involved shouting, banging, people running around the hotel and a woman outside my room shouting on the phone for a long time. The following morning, reception was again unmanned and I simply left my key in the box.I completely understand the need for emergency accommodation, but I don’t believe this hotel is suitable for solo travellers, particularly when there are no staff available. It’s a shame because the hotel itself is lovely, but I wouldn’t stay again.

To be the fair this property is undergoing major renovations- and my experience takes this into account as well as the cheap price tag My arrival was quite late but I was greeted and checked in as one would expect. I was shown to my room and became quickly aware that it was very basic and smelled of stale cigarette smoke with tell tale burns in the carpet and fa butt hiding in the kettle.. I was too tired to make a fuss and battled through the night reasonable well until woken by the building site next door, then the window cleaners came and I hit the shower which was hot for 2 mins and then solid cold whatever I did. I dumped my key and ran for the potholed drive . Lesson learned.

A séjourné 1 nuit

Apart from my room which was warm and comfortable but lacked a bath towel, with only a shampoo and a very little round soap being provided, the whole place seemed sad and lonely. The Reception was poorly lit and signed, and was cold and damp; I appeared to be one of only two guests staying on the Saturday night and the guests in the room next to mine kept their television on until 5.15am and periodically seemed to drop something heavy on the floor. I was much later arriving back, after my orienteering run, than I had intended, as I got lost and spent some four hours finding the hotel again, meaning I only got to bed at just before 2am on Sunday morning, instead of around 11pm on Saturday. I appreciate that the guests coughing and having the TV on was not the fault of the hotelier but was the final straw. In the advert, on your booking form, the hotel was stated as having a restaurant. It was only when I arrived that I found this was not the case and no food was available, although I was told that I could have toast and cereal for breakfast, as long as I did not want it too early. In the event, I overslept and did not get up until 9am when I ate some more of the cold provisions I had had to stop and buy on my was back from the orienteering to the hotel. I am definitely not a happy bunny about all this and feel that the hotel provided misinformation about its facilities.
