Although the staff were quite lovely, they have an uphill battle to fight in order to make the hotel a place anyone would want to stay. I was there for five nights; the restaurant was NEVER open; the bar food was substandard at best and one night I had to wait 50 minutes for bar food...and I was the only person there! Then it arrived stone cold. The room was tiny. They provided one small bar of soap for FIVE nights. Only the instant coffee was replenished. I would never recommend this place.

This is a three star hotel and met all expectations. Really great staff - super helpful and friendly. Clean comfortable rooms - note no AC if staying in summer, good heating in winter. Easy free parking on site. Good English breakfast. Would stay again.

Friendly staff, pleasant dining option within the hotel in quiet residential neighbourhood a few minutes’ walk away from the local hospital. Rooms were clean and well maintained. No lift to upper floor. Free parking, and reasonable value when we stayed, and the breakfast was nice (extra charge).

Property is in a lovely location, however.., bath plug - release mechanism is faulty so unable to drain bath, air-con - sounds like a helicopter gunship, also currently no chef on site so they are unable to serve evening meals.

A great Best Western Hotel, convenient for Hove and Brighton at a fraction of the cost. Plenty of spacious parking, friendly and accommodating staff, lovely room with high ceiling and gorgeous bay window. Food choices for breakfast and evening meal were great.

During check in we were informed there was no Restaurant service although we had chosen this Hotel as it had Restaurant facilities and the listed menu suited our tastes. We attempted to get clarification of when the the Restaurant would open and it was suggested not during our 4 night stay. As can been from the attached photo only soup and sandwiches could be offered for Dinner although it was noticeable functions were catered for during our stay. We were disappointed that reception would not provide any guidance of alternative places to obtain dinner in the area. We were therefore required to look for ourselves in a unfamiliar area. Reading reviews this does not appear to be a one off experience so beware of what is offered. We believe the Hotel should have given prior warning that this service was not available.

From check in to check out, nothing was to much trouble for the staff. Needed to print a couple of documents out that id forgotten to pack. Not a problem, emailed them and they printed them without any bother. Room was the perfect size with a very comfortable bed. Been a real building and not a prefab, the walls were nice and thick so no hearing other guests in their rooms. Bathroom was suprisingly large, modern, and extremely clean. The shower was a walking with actual room to swing the proverbial cat, a powerfull shower that was straight forward to use, and one that can be held to rince the places fixed showers cant reach unless you hand stand. Wifi was free, easy to connect and fast enough to stream a film without freezing up. After stopping at a dozen hotels this year so far around the UK, i can honestly say, this provided the best nights sleep mile a mile. Id like to say a big thank you to all the staff here from the Reception team, to the housekeeping staff, a very big thank you for making my stay such a good one leaving me refreashed for the day ahead at the South of England Show Ground just up the road.

Room right on the front on a busy main road and near a hospital, barely slept all night, food mediocre, beer prices astronomically over priced, just the fact it was convenient for work, but at 6.30 in the morning to leave for work and supposed to be bright and fresh felt shattered plus no breakfast as they don’t serve until much later not a ideal place for a contractor

Good spot for a stay in Haywards Heath. My only complaint was the internal room I had was quite warm due to no breeze with the window open and No fan or AC.

Fabulous hotel for our 2 night break, room extremely clean and beds comfortable, shower was amazing with choice of rainfall or hand held, towels large and fluffy and free products. Lovely selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate and a complimentary biscuit. Staff extremely helpful and we would definitely stay again

We had a standard double room which was comfortable and had an unusually large bathroom. It had a bath with shower over and was large enough to stretch out full length - great. We also had kettle and a separate espresso coffee maker with all supplies. When asked the hotel even provided fresh milk at no extra charge.

First time staying here with my wife and her assistance dog. The staff were excellent from the moment we arrived, putting my wife at ease and respecting that the dog was working. For an executive room, it was a little small but had everything we needed. The breakfast was quite expensive (we didn't prebook it) but was excellent quality and, again, great service. We will definitely return.

Stayed here before and not too much to worry about but this time i was given a room above bar louunge area .. i thought this is ok as bar shuts at 11 and it will be quiet .. no such luck by midnight still had music thumping through my floor ok i rang reception to complain no answer at all tried 5 or 6 times to no avail tried the main hotel number no answer so got dressed went downstairs to complain as no way could i sleep .went to bar nobody there music pumping outside doors open Went to reception nobody there rang bell eventually night porter appeared explained the situation and how irritated i was he appologised and turned off music and said he would talk to bar staff in morning ...back to bed tried to sleep only at 1 am to heat furniture being dragged along floor below and moved around gave up trying to sleep called reception again and again but no answer Noise stopped at 2a.m Next morning complained to reception who had no knowledge at all but said would tell manger and see what they could do for me .. nothing offered not even a sorry . Stayed next night and had to leave early 5am .. i didnt need a alarm as sound of hoovering in bar woke me up before alarm sounded.. not impressed.. hotel and roons great but earplugs needed

The hotel was very convenient. It was clean and comfortable though a little expensive. The staff were polite and friendly.They would not book a cab for us but provided numbers of local firms for us to do it ourselves.
The hotel was very convenient. It was clean and comfortable though a little expensive. The staff were polite and friendly.They would not book a cab for us but provided numbers of local firms for us to do it ourselves.

The decor was nice and didn't feel too dated. The receptionist was friendly and efficient. However, I was left waiting for a long time at the bar to get a drink. I was speaking to someone at the bar when my food arrived, but no one told me, so I don't know how long the food had been on my table before I got back to it. In the morning, I had to have a cold shower because, apparently the pilot light went out on the boiler because of the wind. The bed was also very soft and uncomfortable.

From check in to check out, nothing was to much trouble for the staff. Needed to print a couple of documents out that id forgotten to pack. Not a problem, emailed them and they printed them without any bother. Room was the perfect size with a very comfortable bed. Been a real building and not a prefab, the walls were nice and thick so no hearing other guests in their rooms. Bathroom was suprisingly large, modern, and extremely clean. The shower was a walking with actual room to swing the proverbial cat, a powerfull shower that was straight forward to use, and one that can be held to rince the places fixed showers cant reach unless you hand stand. Wifi was free, easy to connect and fast enough to stream a film without freezing up. After stopping at a dozen hotels this year so far around the UK, i can honestly say, this provided the best nights sleep mile a mile. Id like to say a big thank you to all the staff here from the Reception team, to the housekeeping staff, a very big thank you for making my stay such a good one leaving me refreashed for the day ahead at the South of England Show Ground just up the road.

During check in we were informed there was no Restaurant service although we had chosen this Hotel as it had Restaurant facilities and the listed menu suited our tastes. We attempted to get clarification of when the the Restaurant would open and it was suggested not during our 4 night stay. As can been from the attached photo only soup and sandwiches could be offered for Dinner although it was noticeable functions were catered for during our stay. We were disappointed that reception would not provide any guidance of alternative places to obtain dinner in the area. We were therefore required to look for ourselves in a unfamiliar area. Reading reviews this does not appear to be a one off experience so beware of what is offered. We believe the Hotel should have given prior warning that this service was not available.

Stayed here before and not too much to worry about but this time i was given a room above bar louunge area .. i thought this is ok as bar shuts at 11 and it will be quiet .. no such luck by midnight still had music thumping through my floor ok i rang reception to complain no answer at all tried 5 or 6 times to no avail tried the main hotel number no answer so got dressed went downstairs to complain as no way could i sleep .went to bar nobody there music pumping outside doors open Went to reception nobody there rang bell eventually night porter appeared explained the situation and how irritated i was he appologised and turned off music and said he would talk to bar staff in morning ...back to bed tried to sleep only at 1 am to heat furniture being dragged along floor below and moved around gave up trying to sleep called reception again and again but no answer Noise stopped at 2a.m Next morning complained to reception who had no knowledge at all but said would tell manger and see what they could do for me .. nothing offered not even a sorry . Stayed next night and had to leave early 5am .. i didnt need a alarm as sound of hoovering in bar woke me up before alarm sounded.. not impressed.. hotel and roons great but earplugs needed

Room right on the front on a busy main road and near a hospital, barely slept all night, food mediocre, beer prices astronomically over priced, just the fact it was convenient for work, but at 6.30 in the morning to leave for work and supposed to be bright and fresh felt shattered plus no breakfast as they don’t serve until much later not a ideal place for a contractor

A lovely country house hotel on the outskirts of Haywards Heath ( we walked into town a number of times in 20 minutes or so ) The building and decor are in great condition with lots of character remaining. Our room was spacious and very comfortable as well as very well equipped. The room was serviced daily with fresh consumables including water and biscuits. The bathroom was fairly modern and light and airy. The bar and bistro area look to have been recently refurbed in a fairly modern style and there is outdoor seating too. We only had breakfasts at the hotel but found the food to be well cooked and presented and very enjoyable. We had a few niggles and these may be down to low staffing levels, firstly although our room was generally lovely, cleaning was lacking. Most of the hard surfaces had a thick layer of dust and there was quite a lot of cobwebs and spiders around the ceiling, windows and even in the bathroom. Service at the bar and even at Reception was sometimes lacking too. This said, we really enjoyed our stay and may well return one day.

Friendly staff, pleasant dining option within the hotel in quiet residential neighbourhood a few minutes’ walk away from the local hospital. Rooms were clean and well maintained. No lift to upper floor. Free parking, and reasonable value when we stayed, and the breakfast was nice (extra charge).

A great Best Western Hotel, convenient for Hove and Brighton at a fraction of the cost. Plenty of spacious parking, friendly and accommodating staff, lovely room with high ceiling and gorgeous bay window. Food choices for breakfast and evening meal were great.

Although the staff were quite lovely, they have an uphill battle to fight in order to make the hotel a place anyone would want to stay. I was there for five nights; the restaurant was NEVER open; the bar food was substandard at best and one night I had to wait 50 minutes for bar food...and I was the only person there! Then it arrived stone cold. The room was tiny. They provided one small bar of soap for FIVE nights. Only the instant coffee was replenished. I would never recommend this place.

We had a two night stay at The Birch. The staff were friendly, room clean but close to busy road with a lot of traffic. We had a meal on the first night. It was excellent. Very well cooked and tasty. It is an old hotel that has been well updated. I would recommend it.

Property is in a lovely location, however.., bath plug - release mechanism is faulty so unable to drain bath, air-con - sounds like a helicopter gunship, also currently no chef on site so they are unable to serve evening meals.

The hotel was fine for a one night stay. The only problem was with the breakfast. The croissants and other pastries had completely run out by 9.00 before we were able to get any and they didn’t have didn’t have any more.

Receptionist was very welcoming, check in swift. We had a room on the top floor, lovely and quiet. Only criticism it was very warm, could do with air con. We had food in the bar which was good. Bar staff are friendly. Again only criticism would be that the table/chairs and floor had crumbs over them. We checked out early hours as we had a ferry to catch, the security guard was great and helpful.

I nedded accommodation to experience Nick Cave concert at Preston Park Brighton. I know it wasn't in Brighton but driving there extra 20 - 25 minutes didn't do much difference really. It was actually good to have easy access from one location to another. As for the actual hotel everything was spot on. For work or leisure I would definitely consider this location again and I can recommend for those who travel that way.
