Stay was overall fine but I would say this is currently a three star hotel rather than four star. Suited our needs perfectly well but if I had paid the full price instead of using some Hotels.com vouchers in part-payment, I would have been disappointed by the actual hotel itself. The room and the hotel in general was absolutely roasting and it would have been more effective to have my two daughters blow on me than rely on the fan in the room. Buffet breakfast was 3* standard, similar to a Premier Inn. The in room TV is ancient, zero on demand, certainly no Netflix log in or similar, desperately in need of an update. The spa was nice but Very limited hours for under 16s which we were not informed of in advance (check in is 4pm and my 14 & 15 year old had to be out of the pool and spa by 5pm. Then only allowed in 10-12 the next day). Spa was very nice but broken hot beds covered yellow/black tape as you entered the wellness space wasn’t a great first impression. The saviour was the incredible gym, unlike any hotel gym I have ever used, I wish I had known as I would have arrived earlier to use it twice.

Shame the pool and wellness suite was at capacity from when we arrived. We did manage to get in at 8am the next day but jacuzzi wasn't working and two hit beds also not working. The restaurant was also fully booked for dinner. It was an ok stay not the "treat" I had thought we had booked.

Old thorns is a lovely hotel and the rooms are very nice. My only complaint is that the swimming pool and spa area needs to have some attention - I visit in May 23 and then again in January 24 and the hot beds were out of order both times and the hot tub was not working - my daughter and I used the foot spa bit the water was only running cold, this was disappointing as this is a spa hotel and I expected more. However I would still stay at old thorns as it is a comfortable hotel, but if I am looking for a spa break I think I will possibly consider a different hotel. The staff at the hotel are lovely and very helpful and courteous and the restaurants have nice food.

Comfy bed. Great looking place however a little tired and grubby. No time to use the facilities! Check in at 4 children can only use pool until 5 ( we had a 5 year old with us) and closes at 6.

Clean comfortable room, only gripe with room was the air con/air ducting units outside the window making noise so at night with wondow open found it difficult to get to sleep. Spa & pool facilities were exceptional. Restaurant food & service was good but the steak was bland. Not great for £35.. Cocktail Bar service extremely slow. Waiter more interested in chatting than serving.. Wouldn't bother going there again. Sports Bar lively great atmosphere watching the golf but sometimes almost a bit too loud.

Hotels was nice, little bit of a maze to find the room but the rooms were clean and in good condition, few things lacking;extra pillows, towels and water in the room. But all around a nice plac, will visit again. I must also compliment the hotel staff, from the cleaners to reception all were super friendly and went the extra mile for greetings.

Could not book the restaurant on check in . The key didn't work. No ac on the hottest day of the year so we had to run the noisy fan all night, so no sleep. The fan lead was to short so no benefit at all from using it. The room stunk of cigarette smoke on entry and there were cigarette butts all over the balcony floor,which I had to clean up. I complained to the manager,he said he would investigate I gave him my email address,but he never contacted me. Standards are dropping and I would never go back. The hotel is so big it feels impersonal. The drunken golfing fraternity in the bar and the language was not to my liking. Glad when I left.

The Eco pods have no toilet/bathroom or running water despite there being a picture of one on the website and in the dispription one being listed under room amenities. Instead there is a dirty smelly communal one a fair walk away. Only two small bottles of water in the room and a small heater that took ages to heat the cabin, I woke up at 5am freezing at the end of June! the outside seating area was covered in bird dropoings and cobwebs. The reat of the hotel was clean and looked good and the brwakfast was also good.

We stayed in an apartment which was excellent - clean, modern great shower comfortable beds and a fabulous view over the golf course. We enjoyed the swimming pool, jacuzzi & hot beds, except the smell in the ladies changing rooms of some sort of chemical was very strong & off putting. Dining at the Kings restaurant was a big mistake - we chose to eat duck but the vegetables (green beans & tenderstem broccoli ) were rock hard - they must have been blanched only. Also the food was lukewarm. We told the assistant manager & they took our plates away to bring them back 10 mins later with little change to the vegetables - still rock hard. We asked for them to be cooked but then waited 20 mins which meant what food we had was cold. A very poor experience to what was otherwise a lovely stay.

Stayed with my daughter, asked for a twin room when booked in but when checking in we had a double, so couldnt get into the room until 4pm and we couldnt make it so didnt get key until 1am, which was not ideal. Beds were comfortable but lots of cobwebs in the room made it feel dirty. Hotel in general is in good shape, and guy on reception through the night was really helpful, i left my adaptor in holland so he found me a charger for laptop whilst i was working. No space to work in a communal area befroe the breakfast room opens at 6:30

Great room in hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Also stayed in the pod which was basic and we were woken up by garden machinery at 6am which was very annoying. Pool and spa was nice but needs upgrading. The "hot tub" is a "luke warm tub". Receptionist Dan was very friendly and offered an excellent welcome.

Very Large Site For Business travellers beware - the wi fi does not cover all the hotel rooms. The car park is vast so it could be quite a distance to the hotel if you need to ferry items back and forth. Buffet Breakfast - good Restaurant was shut as hotel occupancy was down but bar food was adequate.

Great room- big and spacious. We had a two bed apartment. Comfy beds, lovely showers. Nice view over golf course. Good pub grub in sports bar, and tasty cocktails in the cocktail bar. However, there was a lot of noise so we didn’t sleep well. The room wasn’t well sound insulated which meant we could hear all the scrapings of chairs moving in the room above. Really clearly!! Perhaps add carpet or those soft stickers on the bottom of the chairs. Also a lot of drunk people shouting outside the room after midnight. Perhaps guests from the wedding which was on. Check in is at 4pm. We dropped bags at the room and went straight for a swim with the children, arriving at 4:40pm. We were given towels etc but not warned the family swim time ended at 5pm, so we had the grand totally of 15 mins in the pool before we were told the children had to leave. Given check in isn’t until 4pm you really should extend the family swim time!! This was a great shame and somewhat ruined the kids evening!

However, there was a lot of noise so we didn’t sleep well. The room wasn’t well sound insulated which meant we could hear all the scrapings of chairs moving in the room above. Really clearly!! Perhaps add carpet or those soft stickers on the bottom of the chairs. Also a lot of drunk people shouting outside the room after midnight. Perhaps guests from the wedding which was on. Check in is at 4pm. We dropped bags at the room and went straight for a swim with the children, arriving at 4:40pm. We were given towels etc but not warned the family swim time ended at 5pm, so we had the grand totally of 15 mins in the pool before we were told the children had to leave. Given check in isn’t until 4pm you really should extend the family swim time!! This was a great shame and somewhat ruined the kids evening!

Room was a lovely size, staff were all absolutely lovely too, bars and restaurants nice. For £300plis for one night I would have expected aircon and a shower that wasn’t so weird and impossible to control and I would have liked a fridge. Also our TV wouldn’t switch on and the batteries were loose in the remote as it had no back.

Stayed one night for a family wedding. Mixed experience. Overall a lovely hotel and pleasant staff. But they desperately need air con in the bedrooms. Stayed in a deluxe family room. Whilst I appreciate it was extremely warm weather just one fan in a large family room cannot compensate for not having air con. The windows don’t open far due to being on first floor so next to useless especially with the thick blackout curtains closed. Also no fridge in the room which you’d expect with a 4* resort. So couldn’t even chill drinks to cool us down. Almost unbearable heat as a result. Wedding lovely but 2 forgotten guests, one adult one child (albeit a bride error) were asked to pay £250 for food!! They offered to have one course each and both non-drinkers so no alcohol required. Having spent so much money on the wedding, guests staying etc for the hotel to ask this seemed astounding. I understand it was not their fault but that charge seems excessive. A further discussion with the mother of the bride and the charge miraculously dropped to £30 which was far more acceptable! Good customer service goes a long way especially when so much had already been spent at the hotel.

No wifi or internet data connection at all in any of the rooms. We were also charged £45 for spa robes and slippers, something usually offered for free in ALL other resorts nationally and internationally. When attempting to use the spa, last entry of spa was 5pm. We arrived at 4:45 following check in, and werent allowed to enter due to over capacity until 5:15. Spa closed at 5:45, we were requested to exit. Entire spa was over crowded and we were required to wait before using each of the spa facilities. The charge didn’t seem reasonable for 30 minutes use of the overcrowded spa. Upon check out at the hotel reception we politely queried the spa charges, and the male staff totally overreacted raising his voice aggressively stating the hotel are nothing to do with the spa and they could do what they like. He didn’t know. He repeated this 4-5 times and was shouting across the reception. We couldn’t get a word in. It was very frustrating and threatening behaviour and we left the premises immediately. We were appalled this is the manner is which the hotel treated its guests. Rooms were comfortable.

Woken up by housekeeping welcoming themselves into my room at 8.20/30 and also waiting at the end of the corridor asking if I was leaving well before the 11am checkout time! Surely they know when a room is occupied and due to check out? Obliterated the idea of staying after spending time in the numerous bars on site which gave great service thanks bas and Spencer! Shame the stay was ruined by impatient housekeeping

Very Large Site For Business travellers beware - the wi fi does not cover all the hotel rooms. The car park is vast so it could be quite a distance to the hotel if you need to ferry items back and forth. Buffet Breakfast - good Restaurant was shut as hotel occupancy was down but bar food was adequate.

We stayed as a couple for two as a base while visiting Goodwood Revival. The room was a good size and the bathroom was immaculately clean. Just a couple of things to note. There was no hair dryer in our room which I didn’t realise until I’d showered and got wet hair. The maid service has to be booked, it’s not automatic. So we didn’t have beds made, tea/coffee replenished. There are no robes in the room, but I appreciate they’re not advertised but as a 4 star I expected them as standard. And finally the breakfast is a buffet and busy times mean there isn’t fresh items of everything so it was pot luck if the bacon had been replenished, same for eggs etc. All in all a lovely location but it was too big for my preference and prefer a little bit more small and friendly.

Lots of facilities all in one location. I dont play golf but the greens looked wonderful. Room was above average and beds were comfortable with nice clean linen. Breakfast was excellent, loads of choice and you could serve yourself, virtually no queueing for food on either day we were there. The check in was fine, but quite formal and business like, i would have preferred more friendly and relaxed start to our stay.

We stayed in a 2 bed apartment. They are huge for 4 people! An ensuite in each bedroom, well equipped kitchen, dining area and plenty of seating. We had a ground floor apartment and the back wall was floor to ceiling glass/patio doors which looked right over the golf course. It was lovely to be able to open the patio doors in the evening.

Shame the pool and wellness suite was at capacity from when we arrived. We did manage to get in at 8am the next day but jacuzzi wasn't working and two hit beds also not working. The restaurant was also fully booked for dinner. It was an ok stay not the "treat" I had thought we had booked.

We stayed in an apartment which was excellent - clean, modern great shower comfortable beds and a fabulous view over the golf course. We enjoyed the swimming pool, jacuzzi & hot beds, except the smell in the ladies changing rooms of some sort of chemical was very strong & off putting. Dining at the Kings restaurant was a big mistake - we chose to eat duck but the vegetables (green beans & tenderstem broccoli ) were rock hard - they must have been blanched only. Also the food was lukewarm. We told the assistant manager & they took our plates away to bring them back 10 mins later with little change to the vegetables - still rock hard. We asked for them to be cooked but then waited 20 mins which meant what food we had was cold. A very poor experience to what was otherwise a lovely stay.

All the staff right across the site were amazing, professional and polite. Breakfast was great (not the scrambled egg) Room was clean, only downfall was the finish of the ceiling with cutout patches, uneven and not painted. We were attending a wedding there, venue was great. A special callout to Jordan, Oscar and Mark who have a great sense of humour and helped make it that little bit more special. We would love to stay again when in the area.
