Mercure Grand Hotel Biedermeier Wien

Zentrale Lage. Ruhig. Kenne ich schon Jahrzehnte. Schade, dass die Renovierung am Hotel nicht kommuniziert war.

Wir haben 4 Nächte im Hotel geschlafen, um Wien anzuschauen. Die öffentliche Verkehrsanbindung war gut. Das Stadtzentrum war auch in 25 Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen. Die zwei Restaurants am Hotel haben eine gute österreichische Küche geboten. Wir haben dort jeden Tag gegessen. Das Standard-Zimmer war in ruhiger Lage, sauber und relativ geräumig. Das Internet hat sehr gut funktioniert. Der Schlaf auf der Matratze war gut. Wir haben uns immer wohl gefühlt. Abends waren wir immer in der kleinen Sauna - Badeschuhe, Bademantel und Handtücher gab es im Hotel. Das Frühstück war auf gutem Niveau - sehr vielseitig, für jeden etwas dabei. Omelette und Spiegelei wurden live zubereitet.

We thought the setting in its own alley was unique but poor timing on our part meant we arrived whilst extensive external repairs were underway. That said hotel was quiet and comfortable and staff very attentive. Would stay again

Good hotel, nice Privilege rooms. Gym is lacking and cannot do more than a cardio workout.

In house restaurants were very nic

Convenient for rail, tube and airport. We only stayed for 1 night but enjoyed a very pleasant meal in the terraced restaurant.

My stay at the Mercure Biedermeier Wien was merely okay, and I wouldn't choose to return. On the positive side, the rooms and building were clean, with fluffy towels. I appreciated the in-room amenities: kettle with Nescafé, fridge, large safe, and free, reliable Wi-Fi. The female receptionist was friendly, and staff hardworking. Free lemon water and a welcome chocolate were nice touches. The hotel's a beautifully restored historic building in a quiet, central spot, near shops and Bahnhof Mitte. I also liked the restaurant's outdoor terrace and used the free gym and clean sauna. Parcel reception was also helpful. Key Issues: Several issues detracted significantly from my experience. Slow pre-arrival communication via Expedia chat was frustrating. At check-in, a missing parcel caused a delay until it was found right next to the receptionist. The biggest problem was the broken air-conditioning in my initial room during a heatwave. A provided fan was useless. After a heated argument, including a dismissive comment about Spain's heat, I got a new room. Its AC barely cooled, just enough for sleeping. Noise was a constant issue. Despite double-glazing, I heard street noise. More disruptive were daily 6 AM wake-ups from corridor noise (vibrating the bed) and noisy children above, making restful sleep impossible even with earplugs. Finally, both rooms showed neglect: detached carpets, wall damage (hole, crack), and a leaky shower. Lift flooring was worn, and corridor art hung crooked

An old-style hotel based on converted houses in a courtyard located very close to Wien Mitte station for U-bahn, OBB main line trains and CAT airport train. Rooms well modernised and clean. Good on-site traditional Viennese restaurant.

Well run hotel. Clean, spacious rooms. Lovely garden terrace for a welcome beer at the end of a tourist day.

Excellent stay, excellent service. The facilities are a bit aged and worn, but in operating condition. Overall, I’d love to come back and stay again!

Es kam nur ein minimaler, warme Luftstrom aus dem Luftschlitz. (Klimaanlage war NICHT defekt, sondern dass ist nach Rückfrage normal so) - Zimmertemperatur dadurch über 30° und sehr stickig. Keine Nacht erholsam geschlafen. Fazit: * Keine Empfehlung, Zimmer wird 4 Sternen nicht gerecht * Allgemeinbereich und Frühstück ist ok. Aber für eine Geschäftsreise ist primär ein gutes Zimmer für die Erholung nach einem Anstrengenden Tag wichtig. * Zustand und Ausstattunmg des Zimmer kann NICHT mit "Biedermaier-Charm" erklärt werden. * Nogo: Nicht wirksame Klimaanlage!!!

Splendid location, beautiful place. Rooms are outdated , wasn’t clean enough. Overall nice

Good: Location is near train station. Hofer supermarket and Chinese food are near the hotel entrance. Staff are nice and polite. Bad: Older hotel. We killed many bugs in our one night stay. I was so afraid the bugs would go into our luggages!!! Handsoap in the restroom was empty.

Snabb incheckning med tillgång till rummet tidigt. Vänlig och hjälpsam personal. Bra läge med gångavstånd till centrum, sevärdheter och transport. Hotell i bra skick, rent och sköna sängar. Rekommenderas!

This hotel is dated and dingy. My very small room was dark and musty. Black mold growing on the ceiling above the shower in the very small bathroom.

I have stayed in this hotel a few times and it used to be ok. But now this hotel is falling apart. The heat in my room didn’t work. First, they gave me an electric heater instead, but I was worried about fire hazard, as the heater could only be on or off without temperature regulator. So they moved me to a different room, which took forever as the heat didn’t work in several other rooms either, so they had to find one where it actually worked. The bathrooms need to get renovated as well. I almost cut myself with a metal piece when trying to regulate the water temperature in the shower. It also seems like the rooms aren’t getting cleaned thoroughly anymore either, they were very dusty and the water glasses were completely dirty and disgusting. I asked for a price reduction because of the heat issue but they weren’t willing to do that. This was certainly the last time I stayed at this hotel. For $250 a night I expect more. Very disappointing.

It was very comfortable, clean and welcoming. We enjoyed a quiet break and were well placed to visit the places we were interested in. It was very close to the Wien Mitte station so arrival from the airport was straightforward. The staff were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the breakfast too.

Great location, public transport was very close. The hotel s old but clean.

Rummet var fint, förutom duschen. Med snedtak var det omöjligt att stå rak och duscha. Sedan undrar jag hur man tänkte när man placerade en 74- åring högst upp, längst in och med flertal trappor att gå. Kunde varit en i sämre kondition än jag.

Daily cleaning was excellent. Poor ventilation in breakfasting meant our clothes tank of cooking smells which is not acceptable! Floor staff were very pleasant and helpful. Good central location close to CAT transport and places of interest.

Several items to note. Extremely small rooms, even with the heater never turned on it was uncomfortably hot. We had the windows open most of the time. Shower was small. Sink clogged.

Room was a bit dated and the shower leaked water all over the floor. Room was hot with no way to turn off/down the heat.

Gorgeous big room, traditional in decor. Warm, high ceilings, green initiatives 👍 Really quiet street so great sleep, but 10.mins walk to loads of life.

Room is super small. Leakage from the bathtub makes the floor very slippery.

Unfortunately the AC didn’t work at the whole hotel during our stay and we it was very hot at the top floor. This unfortunately brought down the experience.

Well located, easy to go to metro station. What we didn't like was the air conditioner never worked, it was hot all the time in the room

No elevator to my room. Had to carry my luggage up a flight of stairs. Room is under a slanted roof so couldn't use one of the beds and couldn't stand up straight in the shower.

Refusal to allow me to change dates a month ahead of the visit because of a change in plans.

Tried to eat in their restaurant and was asked if I had booked. Bar girl earlier in day said probs dont need to. But at 6pm manager asked me why I had not booked?, he went on to ask me how I expected to be seated without a res if "he has 300 guests staying at hotel", I must be crazy! Room carpets need replacing. Staff are (apart from restaurant manager) very nice and helpful. Double beds have single duvets...bit of a comfort nightmare. Most destinations are €10/15 cab ride or 20/25min walk. Get the train from airport, its very easy and hotel is stright line 5 min walk from end if line station.

Close to Wien Mitte and city centre. Comfortable room. Helpful staff.

Very expensive with poor service. We had to carry our heavy luggage 100 m from the street to the hotel. Got a extremely small room with no direct elevator access. Had to change rooms. Parking place impossible to find. Had to carry all suitcases by myself. Check out took 20 minutes, comment of the reception employee “our system is slow”

Good sized and well-equipped room, friendly staff, and excellent breakfast choices, all in a well located establishment. Would definitely recommend.

Very good service. Gave us early check in when we arrived earlier than check-in time. And the quieter room as requested. Room was clean too. Perfect location!

This hotel was fine and conveniently located, but there were several annoying issues. The AC didn’t work, neither did the fridge, and the room had a horrible musty/moldy smell. Check out is at noon at this hotel, and at around 9am (we had not checked out yet) a cleaning staff member just unlocked and walked into our room without even knocking or asking if anyone was there, and I was in the middle of getting dressed so it was very uncomfortable and unprofessional.

Very helpful and accommodating staff. Offered to store our bags for us after we had checked out as had late flight home. No rush to collect them. Breakfast was exceptional with a wide variety of choices.

Great location, 5 minutes walk from Wien Mitte railway station to hotel, and 16 minute on CAT train from airport. Staff pleasant, comfortable room.

Location was everything we needed - close to all local transportation - tram from train station, metro to summer place and old town, tram to City Airport Transfer and so much more - were all within 2-5 minute walk. Will definitely stay here next time we ar in Vienna.

A very comfortable and central hotel less than 10 minutes walk from VIENNA MITTE STATION where the CAT arrives from the airport every 30 minute. Staff very friendly and helpful. My only criticism would be that they only have one coffee machine at breakfast so a queue forms up very quickly. Breakfast also needs more staff to prepare tables and ensure that there are enough plates and cutlery - they are rushed off their feet!

A charming old-style hotel, extremely convenient for Wien Mitte station (with its airport train). My room was small but comfortable, lovely bathroom. Even though the hotel is central, the main thing I heard from my room was birdsong. I can't say anything about the breakfast, as the first day I was there I was told there was nowhere for me in the extensive breakfast room and that I'd have to come back a bit later. (I didn't want to spend time during my only day in Vienna waiting for breakfast, so I went somewhere else.) And the second day I had to leave too early.

Three night stay , absolutely wonderful , loved everything about it . Staff so friendly and professional , bedroom cosy and comfy and everywhere immaculately clean, breakfasts delicious . Very good value so don’t expect top notch modern bathrooms , but the whole stay was such a treat . Right near the station for the airport train and underground directly to the centre , although we enjoyed the walk - not far. Throughly enjoyed ourselves .

Close to Vienna central station for train to the airport. Convenient and walkable to many Vienna attractions. Hotel very clean and comfortable with very helpful staff and excellent buffet breakfast.
